I contacted Tom the Toolman Tyler LLC – Kitchen & Bathroom Remodeling Wethersfield & West Hartford CT company after reading and researching with their companys website reviews, Google reviews, Facebook reviews, and their pictures posted on their website. But I was totally wrong. I believe they have a marketing team for doing all these fake reviews. The contractor came into my house and given me a free estimate. Then after the discussion with their administrate Assistant, I have decided to hire them for the Guest bathroom remodeling work and painting in the living room area for our newly bought home. I have written contract for all the work that needs to do and the request for work permit from the town as well. The contractor was a handyman and he did the entire work at my house. The bathroom remodeling didnt finish as per the contract and bulges everywhere on the drywall, its texture not aligned to the existing wall, unfinished bump out portion in the garage, unfinished Sheetrock work with holes. Its a very poor quality job. Also, he did update the lighting fixture and added a plug and thermostat in my living room which is unprofessionally placed. The contractor painted my wall without patching any holes in the living area. Also, he placed the bathroom sink improperly without taking proper measurements and added an extra layer step of hardwood wood floor panel underneath which I am totally uncomfortable. He didnt used any metal drywall bead on the corner edges and it’s not straight and looks ugly. Also, they agreed and signed to contract to take the work permit from the town, but they didnt. They charged me extra amount for taking the permit as well. Then I contacted the town and they confirmed they didnt receive any recent request for the town permit for starting the work(Including electrical,plumbing work) at my place. Also, I believe the person who did this job doesnt have a valid plumbing and electrical license as well. I do have all the pictures on my mobile with the timestamp for before and after work. After the contractor finished his work I contacted the company owner, and sent all the pictures to the owner Tom Tyler via email and he agree to send another contractor, he is a Sheetrock professional . He understood the problem and he said he can’t do any repair which wouldnt come good instead he can only do replace the entire thing. Then Tom asked me to pay additional amount to this guy on the top of initially quoted amount for replace their poor unfinished poor quality job. I disagreed with him and I said I cannot pay any extra amount on the top of estimated. Then he sent another person for doing the repair work and he is the sales Manager in his team but his work didnt make any improvement or any progress. He worked 4 days in my house everyday couple of hours and he also left the job as unfinished. Tom’s office is just few miles away from my house and I requested multiple times to him to come and take a look at the work did by his workers. But he never showed up and instead he and his team members argued with me via email/phone that I am sending before pictures instead of finished work. Totally unprofessional manner. Now I have all the pictures with date and timestamp to show him. Finally, his tone and way of talking changed and they threaten me to pay the remaining huge balance amount. Now I am going to file the complaints against them. They worked 25 days for this entire job and its shoddy, poor, ugly job. I have documented all their written emails with pictures. It was a very bad experience with Tom and his team. Beware, they are running this business with inexperienced people. Thoroughly Unprofessional and perhaps fraudulent.

Getting my AC unit a check up and super helpful and honestly which is much appreciated. Finding someone who can do the work is easy but finding someone who will give you the honest truth about what is going on is very hard to find. Cheers to Tom and the whole crew

We selected Tom the Toolman Tyler because we wanted to support a small local company and read many positive reviews online. Unfortunately, our experience working with them was not what we hoped and we will not be using them again or recommending them to anyone else. We were not doing any extensive renovations, just looking to have 5 doors replaced inside our house. We signed our contract on August 26th and the job was just completed yesterday, on October 23rd. Someone would show up to work for a few hours one day and then we would not hear from or see him again for a week. One door was put on to swing outward instead of inward and we were asked, Whats the big deal? The door literally blocked our ability to walk down the hallway. We sent pictures of things that we believed to be unsatisfactory including paint on the hinges, paint spots on our floor and spots around the hinges that were not smoothed out. Although Tom called us back, no one was ever sent out to inspect the job and we were only given a discount of $250.00 on a $5,000 job. It saddens me to write this because we always look to support local businesses and I am glad that our experience does not seem to be the norm, but we were sorely disappointed.

I used the folks at Tom the Toolman to do a large Power Washing job last year and again this year. They showed up on time and did a great job both times at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this group.

This company was very easy to do business with and very responsive throughout the whole process. I was extremely pleased with the two projects Jack and Amado completed for me and would A. likely use Tom’s company again and B. recommend them to others.We started with a water damaged ceiling repair (cutting out the damaged ceiling, replacing the insulation and drywall, taping, missing, and texturing the ceiling, and then painting the whole ceiling and the walls. I was so pleased with their work I asked them to build a linen closet (creating door access to an existing bedroom closet space from the hallway and then building a wall within the bedroom closet to separate the two spaces). Again, very pleased with the level of professionalism, cleanliness, clear expectations set of what the work would entail and the timeline to complete along with easy invoicing and payments.

We had some pieces of our dryer vent replaced and the molding on the laundry closet moved forward to create more spaces behind our dryer. We were impressed with Scott’s creative suggestions to fix our laundry area and in the end fixed our problem and saved us money. Communication was open and honest. We would use your services again!

We needed to have older tub enclosure door replaced. The work was done on time and very meticulously. There is no question that we will use them again for other projects.

Was stood up for 2 days. Some guy Tony was supposed to show up. He called me Sunday evening told me would show up Monday morning…never did. Then he told me he would show up Tuesday by 2pm…never did and no phone call. Don’t bother.

Jason was great. Efficient. Knowledgeable.Cleaned up after work was done.Answered all my silly questions, and confirmed what I already know.Hung up gutters that fell off house. Finished work that I didnt do.Appreciate all the work completed in a timely fashion. Thanks again.

I emailed Tom on a Saturday night after needing our granite countertops adjusted to fit a new oven range. He responded to me early on Sunday and had the work completed by Monday morning! Seamless process, very quick, and great work. I would highly recommend them!

The company was responsive, returning calls and emails within the day, and Brian, who completed the work, answered all of our questions, was on time, and completed the work within expected/scheduled timeframe. Most importantly, we were 100% satisfied with the finished job. I would use Tom the Toolman Tyler again, and recommend to others.

Although I had a positive experience with them in the past this will be the last time I deal with them. After having one of their sub contractors look at a plumbing job at my new home and receiving a proposal in WRITING upon accepting the proposal AND PUTTING DOWN their required 50% deposit the office called saying they could not/would not complete the job at the quoted price. Thoroughly Unprofessional and perhaps fraudulent.

I wish I found this company sooner! They were quick to respond by phone and email and maintained great communication throughout the whole process. They squeezed us in for a door replacement about 6 weeks sooner than anyone else we called, and the job was very reasonably priced. The gentlemen that came out to do the job was personable and quick. We are satisfied with the the final result and will definitely be using them again for our home project needs!

Had a few windows in the basement that needed to be replaced and Toms team did an amazing job! 10/10 would recommend!
