Took my son who is 3 to a free trial class. Upon arriving we were completely ignored by staff who didn’t introduce themselves or even ask my sons name. Which made it harder for him to adjust and feel comfortable in the class. I notified them before that I was concerned he would have trouble focusing, and they assured me there would be someone there to help… there was not. After the class we were still ignored after the instructor spoke to every other family. Definitely will not be returning.
This place is like a Temple for me, where I worship my body, mind and soul. As soon as you enter, the loud Aiyeahs will give you goosebumps, motivate you to get on the mat. I am 38 years now and joined here, couple of months ago. During the ugly Covid-Shovid time, I realized how important is to to have a strong body. It is better to stretch your bones now than to have useless bones when you grow older. You might make a good or a bad decision at your work/school, but joining here will be the best decision of your life. It is a sure shot lottery of good body, mind and soul.Everyone is treated with respect, a ninja kid to a grand parent. MHK has prepared a very good step by step plan and if you follow it, do all the homework, you will feel the difference. I have seen a lot of kids positively changed, since the day they joined. Me (adults) too. There a families - Dad, Mom, Kids who have all joined together. All the Masters know you very well and they pay personal attention to your needs. Its like they always knew you. They make sure that you reach the goals planned. There only greed to see you do better. Watching them perform during tournaments and other ceremonies, is an out of the world experience. Not only will your goose bump :-), you will bump and jump too. They will train you to do the same.
I was skeptical about putting my kids in a karate school at first. My son has special needs and my previous martial arts experience had me against an American TKD school. Two years into the system and I have to say that Im quite pleased with the curriculum. The instructors work well with my son. My daughter is also doing quite well and has shown improved confidence and skill. My favorite part of the school is the Word of the Month coupled with the leadership classroom time. The students are spending time learning how to be successful at more than just karate. This dovetails nicely to form the warrior and scholar concept in martial arts.
Great teachers. We ended up switching to the closer dojo.
First I’m extremely grateful for the new school opening in Arvada! I appreciated the Westminster school & Mr.Ogle (sorry if u got that wrong) for getting us started, but The location in Arvada is in great spot easy to get too and it’s HUGE ! My son loves the mat lol & the staff is excellent.I also appreciate everyone for instantly calling my son by his name and acknowledging him he’s needed a place to belong for a little while now and he’s finally getting comfortable. I love the lessons and the fact that they hold the kids responsible for learning and achieving their goals. It’s been wonderful for my kid can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Great community and fun classes!
This place is awesome!! The instructors know what they are talking about. They are patient with my self and daughter. I feel healthier and stronger.i like it here!!
The class was great BUT THE WORKERS ARE TERRIBLE. I havent been to the MHK since Nov and I was charged I was given the run around on the phone when I called to get a refund. I sent this email that I NEVER GOT A RESPONSE TO AND TODAY I AM CHARGED AGAIN . They were very rude and didnt show any empathy
My daughter loves it and this school has taught her so much. They take the time to even give her private lessons when she needs the extra help.
Great instructors good environment. A family environment that is very welcoming
My child did a class through his school and we allowed him to do 2 free sessions at MHK. We have already seen a change in our son for the positive. We will see how classes continue to go!I am not a fan of their tactic to get you to sign up. Could do a better job of being more thorough with the contract. If you provide a good and worthwhile service you shouldn’t have to use sly sales tactics.
They genuinely care about their students and the families. They have a staff of wonderful instructors that take the time needed with each student with patience. They also have the staff to teach more advanced material, a win-win. High energy, yet focused on the art of martial arts. Our son, who is on spectrum, has been able to thrive along side the rest of his family, something we are more than grateful for.
This program has been great for my family. We started my son when he was 4 years old, and I soon joined him on the floor. I was able to spend 100s of quality hours with my boy in an activity that we both could enjoy. My wife joined us a few years later. This program helped teach my son leadership skills, public speaking skills, self confidence, and how to set and achieve any goals he creates for himself. The owners and instructors care for every student, and want nothing more then for all to succeed.
They have an outstanding program that focuses on the entire student. My grandson is not only learning karate but also has shown a great improvement with respect for himself and others, helping others without being asked and following through on his responsibilities. We are so glad that he joined Mile High Karate. He loves it.
Great place to be involved with. All the instructors are extremely friendly and helpful. Along with karate, they also teach them life long skills and lessons so they can be a good, caring, helpful and nice person. They provide a great FAMILY like atmosphere that is so welcoming
Nothing but a money machine. Most of the 5 star ratings are from the staff who work there.
My son has been at Mile High Karate Westminster for a year now. He has become more confident and he loves learning new forms and combos. The staff is incredible and we have made amazing friends along the way!
Great karate school! All the teachers are amazing and my son loves it. I would recommend this school to anyone.
Very enthusiastic school. Great instructors who do amazing with all ages. My son loves being a part of Mile High.
Mile High Karate has been amazing! I started training when I was nine years old and have loved it ever sense! I am now 16 years old and I am an instructor at this location with my 2nd degree black belt and I truly am loving it. Mile High Karate have presented me with so many opportunities to succeed at goals in every aspect of my life whether that be in martial arts, my acting career, my education, and even my home life. If I had to give Mile High Karate a rating out of 5 stars, Id defiantly have to give it a 5!
Amazing organization! Ive been lucky enough to have been a part of Mile High Karate for more then 22 years! The skills they teach go way beyond kicking and punching. I cant wait to open my own school and continue to help kids develop confidence, self discipline and so much more!
I have been training there since they opened this location. The owners are wonderful and the instructors care about the students.I love being there, and watching the owners train right along side of me is great to see. They show that they are engaged and have experienced everything the students are while training to black belt.
Its not just a studio, its family. Welcoming and supportive. Staff is amazing.
This is a great place to learn karate! The atmosphere is friendly and family oriented with instructors that actually care about their students. I have enrolled my entire family and we all enjoy our time here learning as a family and this experience and atmosphere has brought us closer as a family.
My family and I have been training here for 4 years. The instructors are the best. The life skill lessons they teach are priceless. Highly recommended for families!
The atmosphere as you walk in is incredible. The staff, the students, and the parents are all connected together. Although there are different levels depending on your rank, we all are a team and most of all, family. I count it as my second home!
Mile High Katate is a great place to learn to martial arts and self defense. But it is an even better place to learn life skills to better yourself. They encourage kids and adults alike to improve physically and mentally.
Children and adults wanting to study martial arts should do so at MHK in Westminster. The owners (Alan and Kelli) are professional, caring, and have a systematic and holistic process to help their students meet their goals. The black belt instructors are patient, energetic and before you know it you will realize that they have pushed you out of your comfort zone and at some point either you or your child be performing beyond your perceived capacity. MHK students not only learn self defense but they are taught the principles to become better students, employees, community leaders.
Mike High Karate (Westminster) was a 5 Star review of mine 8 months ago when my daughter first began to take lessons. I really wish I could give them 10+ stars. Not only has my, now 8 year old exelled in school, at home, with manners and being more attentive but so have I as a parent. While I do not participate, I am at all of the classes with her.We both have bonded in to a type of relation with other parents and students. The instructors continue to improve and change criteria so it doesn’t become boring and repetitive. This is our new “Country Club”! These are the types of people I want, and want my daughter to hang out with.
Awesome school great teachers
I called to redeem my free month voucher. Told me to come in for a lesson on Saturday for my first lesson; learning how to break a board.I received like 50 reminders about the appt and then when my lesson was over, Mr. Garcia (I cant remember his first name), told me that we would schedule to have me come in on Mondays. I called them after I left because I realized I didnt know what time I was supposed to be there on Monday, I left a voicemail and no one ever called me back. Very unprofessional. It seems like this place is only for kids and their parents who want to participate with them.
Has taught our kids an immense amount of confidence, self-discipline, and reinforced manners. Treat our kids like they are family, very welcoming, and friendly!
Amazing people and students. Everyone works super hard for the best of the students
In January 2013, Mile High Karate came to my daughter’s school for an afterschool program. My daughter loved it. She has tried so many other sports in her short 8 years of life. She has tried gymnastics, soccer, and basketball but each sport she lost interest in the first few months and became bored. We took advantage of the free two weeks of classes at the new Westminster location. The instructors are awesome and you can tell that they enjoyed their jobs. It definitely gave you a sense of family. I had been toying with the idea of signing myself up and participating with my daughter. I have been looking for a workout that gave me purpose. I am not the type of person that enjoys going to the gym alone or working out with a DVD. I also had the idea that my stepdaughter might benefit from these classes too. I had heard that martial arts really helped children with ADHD. With the battles we have faced in the past, I was willing to try anything to help my stepdaughter’s focus and behavior without putting her on hard-core medicine that just made her tired and lazy. My husband also has a hard time with focus and I thought it might help him too. My husband and myself discussed it one evening and we decided to sign up, as a family. It is now June, and we have been doing it for about five months. We look forward to class every week. My stepdaughter’s focus has improved and we completely took her off of her medicine. Her behavior has been changing to a more positive outlook every day. My daughter is no longer bored and is determined to become a black belt. As a whole, this program has improved our families dynamic. Being a blended family there have been a lot of growing pains. This program is bringing us closer together. I love that we can all have the same goal and work together to achieve it. I’d like to thank Grand Master Oliver and the Westminster Mile High Karate team for making us apart of this program and family. You all ROCK!!
MHK has been an anchor in crazy time in my life. The student and staff are amazing and you will quickly feel like part of the family.
I love the instructors and students. They are all extremely helpful and friendly, and do a wonderful job working with my son!
The staff is amazing and they do a great job teaching karate!!! Would highly recommend to family and friends.
The insructors are awesome! Classes are fun and family oriented!
This school transformed my son, love the school and instructors.
Passionate instructors, and the owners could not be more genuine and kind. Highly recommended.
The most corrupt karate school around. Amanda Christensen and Steven Oliver find dishonest ways in contacts to keep taking money. My son stopped going 2 years ago and they keeped charging my bank $47.95 a month for 2 years after he stoppstopped going. I paid this corrupt system about $20,000 threw contract and small wording altogether.
This place is amazing!!!! I would never go anywhere else
Good school with kid friendly instructors and curriculum
Cant say enough good things about the improvements seen across the whole family, especially the shared experience and challenge. Hard to find anywhere else
Compassionate, professional staff that enjoy what they do!
Professional and Friendly, one of the best!!
Very professional school and service. Thank you for all that you do for our families growth.
