I have been nothing but impressed by Cranial Technologies. They are efficient, honest, informative and so kind and gentle with my 6 month old son. We are only half way through treatment and already the changes in his head shape and ear placement have improved drastically. Every concern weve had has been addressed and weve even had technicians call to follow up on concerns weve brought up during my sons appointments. There was one discrepancy with our insurance because between the time they gave us our estimate and the time treatment started we ended up meeting our deductible at another medical office. Without me even having to call and ask for a reimbursement a check arrived to our house. Since starting his treatment weve had multiple friends with kids ages 4 to 12 express regret that they didnt have their child wear the corrective band when they were infants. In so glad we are completing this treatment for our son while we can and we are so glad its with cranial technologies!

I have been extremely impressed with Cranial Technologies! They were very quick to get us in for the initial consultation, and explained everything so thoroughly. My son has been in his DOC Band for about 4 weeks now and weve already seen a lot of visual progress. He was diagnosed with severe plagiocephaly. The entire process has been very seamless, and all of the staff weve dealt with have been very professional and kind. Very glad our pediatrician referred us to Cranial Tech!

So after having an awful experience which essentially equated to being told that their time was more important than mine and being sent away after 30 min of unsuccessfully measuring my girl’s head for a helmet, I have changed my initial review. Cranial Technologies reached out to me, largely because I complained, and made my next appointment much better. I appreciate their responsiveness but they still wasted my time: I’m going to have to make that hour plus drive one more time, they delayed my daughter getting a helmet during an optimal growth time and this delay is going to force me to go up their more when I’m back at work (I.e. not on paternity leave) and it is far more difficult to get up there.

Glad to have gotten a second opinion from a more honest company. I was told during our consultation (for my 2.5 month old) that it was in his best interest to get the helmet on ASAP. They made it sound really urgent and told me I could have a helmet on within 2 weeks and that repositioning wasn’t gonna do anything. After not hearing ANYTHING for a month, I went to Northwest Orthotics in Provo where they did measurements and told me that it would be better to try repositioning and see if there was improvement and it was best to wait until 4 months until a helmet. The experiences at both places were very different. I felt like they were trying to sell me on a helmet at Cranial while the other had our best interest in mind and would rather him avoid being stuck in an unnecessary helmet if possible. Save your time and the drive and find a different place to do service with that is more honest.

I cannot say enough good things about these guys. The appointment was totally free, and the specialist was very thorough in answering my questions and showing with precise measurements what concerns there were, sooo professional and thorough!! They let me know the cost and insurance part up front and gave me time to decide what I wanted with no pressure. My sisters baby had a helmet too through another company and the doc band we got here worked way faster and seemed way more comfortable than what my nephew went through. Thank you again for the amazing work!

Beware - these people lied straight to our faces and billed us nearly double what they had initially told us even after speaking to our insurance, asking about our coverage and getting approval for the claim. We were told that the cash cost without insurance was around $4,000. Cranial Technologies talked to our insurance and quoted us $1,350 for the helmet. They then billed our insurance $6,000 and we ended up getting a bill for $2,280.There are other providers of these helmets in Salt Lake, so be sure to shop around for a more honest company.

Edit: After his helmet was shaved again they called back wanting to schedule him sooner and were able to take another look which allowed us to be able to graduate from his helmet a week later. His head turned out great and we are happy with the end results now that he was done with his DOC bandWe have been taking our son there for a bit and it was supposed to be his last visit. When he was evaluated today, they over corrected his head due to the last person not shaving his DOC band correctly that he has to wear it for another 4 weeks. They have been great up to this point as we were excited to have him not have to wear it anymore since his head was looking great just from a visual point of view before they took the pictures. After they took their pictures is when they realized that it had been over corrected due to his DOC band not being shaved down properly.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. The improvement in my son’s plagiocephaly was amazing! The helmet is lightweight, unnoticeable by my infant son, and worked wonders on improving the shape of his head. I highly recommend this place if your child needs treatment for plagiocephaly.

We got in for a free evaluation within 3 days! And...it was free! No copay, no charge. Very friendly staff. They showed us with the photos and measurements and explained in clear terms why our son needed a helmet instead of just telling us he needed one without proof, which put us at ease. They sent our doctor the report too. The helmet is lighter and less sweaty than the other helmet we tried. Nothing but good things to say here so far.

Let me make this easy for everyone- DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. They told me my baby fell in the severe category for Plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome) and that she needed one of their helmets. A week of heartache followed as we tried to accept that the small flat spot we didn’t think was bad was much worse than we couldve imagine. (We took her in thinking they’d offer advice on repositioning ideas and length of times off her head. No thought of a helmet possibility had crossed our minds.) Then I found one of their charts at the back of a calendar they’d sent home with me. Her pictures they’d taken matched the MILD pictures of their chart. So we took her to primary children’s for a second opinion. And guess what category they gave her! MILD! Very mild in the words of the Doctor. After some digging I learned I was not the only one who had been lied to and manipulated into thinking our baby needed a helmet. BE WARY.

I originally had a bad review about this place because some staff had been very unprofessional but a staff member reached out and explained that they will get my issue resolved she was very kind and seemed concerned about my son and how he had been adjusting to the helmet. I’m glad most of the staff is very attentive!
