We have tried many programs in our area and this one has the most skilled, educated, and caring staff out of all. They make the program so much fun! My daughter and son have been going for 2 years now and my daughter switched from gymnastics bc she lived watching her brother so much there My son has struggled with listening but they get extra points for listening and respecting adults at home. We Love Pursuit of Mastery!

This place is the best! The instructors are patient and helpful and genuinely care about your ability to master proper self defense, good fighting practices, confidence, and good character. My son and I love it here at PoM. I will say that I am the product of strict old school Tae Kwon Do discipline and this place does not adhere to those practices (very few places do anymore because of a combination of insurance reasons and just desiring high student retention). I dont mind it so much because its up to you to pursue your own excellence anyway. But this place definitely gives you the tools and is very fair about its ranking and discipline. In traditional TKD, going back 20-30 years, dojos demanded militant adherence to exhausting workouts and precision technique. It was physically, mentally, and emotional demanding, and student burnout would be much higher these days. PoM has a nice balance, especially for new students, to keep them fit but motivated. In being here my first couple months, I have missed the grueling workouts and demands for excellence in precision, and all the dogmatic militant requirements of traditional TKD, but I have seen the upper belt classes and there are very skilled students. My son who has never trained before absolutely loves it! So I think as we advance (I had to start at white belt again, though Id reached black belt student elsewhere some years ago), the regimen and demand should increase, and Im looking forward to that. PoM is respectful of my enthusiasm and skills, and still pushes me. And to be fair, I dont think PoM classifies themselves as a Tae Kwon Do school, so the structure is different and more relaxed, but I learn a nice variation of what I already know and get to perfect some new adaptations of other arts.I highly recommend this place to anyone of any age who wants to learn good fighting techniques, gain confidence, get fit, and build character! Its a fun, respectful, and safe environment for the whole family.

Be careful when signing up. We signed up for a six month contract and canceled after the six months. They tried to have us sign a two year contract but did not want make that kind of commitment. They ended up charging us for the next month. I asked them to refund the $260 since we canceled. They refused to refund out money because we did not give 30 days notice. We are now out 260 dollars that they refuse to refund us. Such poor customer service! We were thinking of returning in spring if our schedules permitted but not when you treat your customers like this.

I didnt see martial arts but a business. It didnt look like a dojo or whatever its called in korean. I was impressed and happy to see the two students: the girl and the young boy, they defentely have a future in martial arts. I liked the two floor techniques they trained. The practice with the sound of the drums was something different. Also, the staff is something (the weapon) you will not want to have off your hands at any time. Conclusion,It will be nice to see martial arts technique and not only movements and spirit, those are needed as much as technique

We have been training here for a little over 3 years now. My daughter is on her way to her 1st degree black belt! She is so excited to test! The instructors here are amazing and really get to know the kids and their families. They are quick to help of there is a problem. And the skills acquired here are lifelong not just temporary. My kids went from Little Dragons and are now in the Intermediate and Advanced classes downstairs and they are doing great. Xpt and Black Belt Club are fun and engaging. My daughter has loved learning a new weapon or increasing her learning of a weapon. Great friendships are made here. And Black Belt is the Goal!!!My daughter is now starting training for her 2nd degree Black belt. She is so excited to be able to work towards this goal. My you get daughter just graduated the Little Dragons program in January and is enjoying being in the downstairs classes now. Even with the pandemic they have made training a great experience and are helping kids to still achieve their goals.

My wife, not being from the USA saw this place and was excited to enroll our kids. Being a little naive in how contracts work. She was taken advantage of by the studio. When I was able to, I looked at the contract and explained to my wife that we could not afford the monthly price we tried to talk to the studio. I’ve tried to to explain this to the studio with no avail. Make sure you read the contract. There is no mercy here and as far as I’m concerned they are typical con-artists. The classes are huge and you better expect your life to revolve around the studio. If they were really as great as everybody including themselves say they are they wouldn’t need to force people to sign contracts to stick around.

Ive been training at Pursuit of Mastery since they opened in 2003. And Ive got to tell you, this school has changed my life. I am so grateful for what it’s done for me. The knowledge, experiences, and life skills Ive acquired are truly priceless.Picking out a martial arts school for the first time can be a difficult thing to do and you may not know if youve made a good school choice until it’s too late. But I and many others can vouch for this program as Ive seen it touch and inspire life after life for many years now.

When my son wanted to take karate, I spent some time looking around before finding Pursuit of Mastery. Not only were they cheaper than the other places we checked out, but the positive energy of this place is amazing. Theyve clearly got their act together, with some phenomenal instructors and a well-thought-out curriculum. The facilities and decor help to flesh out the professional feel.I liked what I saw so much that I decided to start taking classes here too. Now, almost a year later, Im still super impressed with the quality and range of instruction. The instructors encourage a positive learning environment that inspires all the students to work together to become their best. I only regret that my busy life only lets me go here twice a week.

My son started here a few months ago, and so far we have been extremely impressed. The class sizes are great. I feel he receives a lot of one on one attention. My son is very shy and his confidence is growing with each class he takes. I like the flexibility of being able to choose which classes we attend each week and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I am happy every time I attend class and see them learn and excel.........I love that its encouraged to attend and watch,....... and at first I thought that half hour classes might be a little quick....but I have found that its the sweet spot.....the instructors make great use of that time and they show a genuine interest in the kids progression.

Review №36

My son and daughter have both gone through their Little Dragons program and have continued on with a black belt goal. For this review, I am going to focus on my son’s experience, but first, I need to say that my daughter’s experience has been just as stellar. My son has high-functioning autism (sometimes called Asperger’s). He has issues focusing and has trouble transitioning from one task to another - especially if something doesn’t go his way. I was worried that the level of discipline required would be too much for him. I couldnt have been more wrong. Dont get me wrong: the black belts demand respect, but they also dont sweat the small stuff. My son has got to be one of the hardest students they have to teach, but they have been extremely patient with him. As a parent, to see my son take pride in himself and try to do his best is very rewarding. Even though his focus level sometimes isnt on par with his fellow students, I have seen such personal improvement that I can give nothing but high praise to Pursuit of Mastery. I feel like they truly want him to succeed, not only as a martial artist, but as an individual. As I mentioned before, I have no other experience with martial arts, but I feel that we somehow found the best dojo in the state when we came across their booth at a fair. When my son started a one-month trial years ago, my wife and I were worried that he would be asked to leave before his trial was over, but we kept taking him because martial arts is supposed to be good for kids like my son. We needn’t have worried; we have been impressed over and over. If they were to ask my son to leave tomorrow, I would still thank them for all they have done for us and still recommend them as a five-star establishment.

Our 8-year-old struggles with a number of challenges- including some learning disability. He is small for his age and often feels insecure and unsure of himself. We had heard that martial arts was a powerful skill to help kids in a multitude of ways. We checked out the Pursuit of Mastery school in West Jordan and met the folks there. From that first moment, Ally, Master Myler and Master Damien made us feel welcome. It didnt take long to realize this was definitely something that our son needed. We immediately signed him up for beginning Tae Kwon Do classes. The school is bright and colorful. The atmosphere is fun, uplifting and exciting. You can feel the positive energy from all the students and instructors. I am constantly amazed by the young people who train there (although there are many students of all ages). There is no cockiness or show-off mentality here. Just a quiet confidence in their abilities and a sense of respect for others -- which is so impressive. The Pursuit of Mastery school is family-run and is therefore very family-friendly. Master Damien has been our sons teacher from the start. I cant say enough good things about this terrific young man. He (and his assistant-teacher Maddie) are highly trained, certified, advanced black-belt instructors who have a special gift to connect with children. By making the classes so much fun they make the students want to learn and to succeed. It has been about a year now since we started the training. Under Master Damien, we have seen our sons self-confidence skyrocket and his physical strength greatly increase. He can now see within himself the power and the possibilities that he did not know he had. It took this very special place where kind, patient teachers ply an ancient discipline of self-defense... where the core philosophy is to improve oneself physically, mentally and spiritually and to have good character. In this day and age, I think kids need that more than ever. Our son has come so far. He wants to become a black-belt someday. I have no doubt that, with the help of the Pursuit of Mastery teachers, he will achieve it... and this discipline will give him many tools to help him overcome the obstacles he may face in the future. I KNOW it will make a huge difference in his life. The adventure is just beginning.

Ive gone to a couple other places prior to WCWMA. My wife and I were not impressed...neither was my son. We almost called it quits before finding WCWMA - West Jordan. After seeing the interaction between teachers and children, the amount of patience instructors had, the respect EVERYONE had (teachers AND students), I knew this was the place for him. My only draw back with WCWMA is, I cant get my son there enough. I plan on getting my daughter involved eventually. I dont think you would be disappointed in Shane Myler WCWMA - WEST JORDAN!
