I would recommend Westgate if you’re looking for an apartment complex in West Hartford with a good location, general safety, and walk-ability. Although I believe my unit was slightly overpriced for the amenities received, the Westgate staff is a pleasure to work with. One of the leading consultants, Mina, is so welcoming and accommodating! She was able to help meet the housing needs of my roommate and I while in a rotational job. Thank you, Westgate!
I have to say so far my experience with Westgate has been pleasurable. We are in between homes and needed a place to stay for upward of 9 months. We toured Westgate as an option. The site was clean, the apartments were well maintained the the staff were excellent. The application and lease process was easy and smooth. We are looking forward to our move-in and will follow up again once we are in.
Steer clear of this place. As a resident of this complex for about 5 years, the quality of the accommodations and management have degraded in a compounding manner over this time. In my experience, this complex has gone from a decent and reasonable community in a fantastic town, to what appears to be a well oiled enterprise more focused on increasing their bottom-line above all else. The complex is old and I have seen numerous situations where things break and are then just patched up; this can be seen just by walking through one of the common hallways and looking up at the ceiling. This was just the tip of the iceberg of what I experienced. At the beginning of the pandemic when we were heading into lockdown, I expressed to management that I needed more flexible options with the lease renewal as my current lease was coming to expiration. Given the lack of written notice from management regarding the lease renewal (60 days), I exercised my right for the lease to default to a month-to-month term (written in contract) which was desirable given the uncertain times we were facing in the pandemic. A few days after the lease defaulted to a month-to-month term and I had already provided a rent check for that month, the property manager Sarah left me a physical letter stating that I would have to pay late fees of 10% (on the base rent provided that month) as well as a month-to-month fee of 10% every month thereafter. The bottom-line, this complex is located in a great area in a phenomenal town, but there are much better options in the area.
I grew up in West Hartford and graduated from Conard High in 1986. I returned to town and officially became a resident again this past February---four weeks before the pandemic hit us in March, 2020. I have been blown away at how wonderful a community this has been, and have met fabulous new neighbors and fellow dog walkers.I absolutely love my apartment, and walking convenience to grocery store, drug store, coffee and pizza shops, The Center, and bus lines. I am so impressed with how staff and maintenance have taken care of both residents and property during a challenging year of global issues as well as when a dramatic summer storm resulted in damaged property--which was rectified within a short time--during a statewide loss of electrical power for several days. It is nice to know someone is on call 24/7.I have enjoyed watching the four seasons change in front of my large windows--and look forward to seeing the fabulous gardens again next spring. I particularly enjoy listening to the brook nearby behind my unit during stressful days in 2020. I am so thankful I chose this apartment complex above all others in the area. My rescue dog agrees :)
I have been living at Westgate for a year and a half now and have really enjoyed my experience! The apartments are spacious and clean with great amenities! The staff has been great as well! In particular, Amina, the Leasing Consultant at Westgate, has gone above and beyond with her hospitality and willingness to make me feel at home.
This place is horrible.I lived in an apartment that had water infiltration 3 times within a few months. Front desks people were incompetent. Making an appointment with them was impossible. They never answered any emails you sent. The place is overprice for what it is. I have lived in many places before and this is the worse I have ever been. The only good thing about this place was the janitor who was very quick in answering problems.
It has been a pleasure to live at Westgate Apartments for over three years. Since new management over a year ago they have added an enclosed area for pets to play, a gym, a new roof and other great updates. This is an addition to an existing outdoor pool, grilling area and walking path around the complex. On the rare occasion that I have a service request, it is taken care of almost immediately! Another benefit is the proximity to downtown West Hartford/Blue Back Square, grocery stores, a mall, hiking trails and more. Overall Westgate is a great place to live!
My family and I moved to West Hartford from SLC, Utah and landed at Westgate apartments. We lived there for 9 months before buying a home. The staff at Westgate are very friendly and helpful in everyway possible! They helped us feel very welcomed to the area and even gave us information or directions when needed. Our apartment was very nice and roomy. They take very good care of the facility and I highly recommend Westgate!! Thank you for so much Amina, Sarah and Ben!
Terrible.Apartment fell apart, poorly designed. My apartment flooded because of their old pipes and they stuck an industrial fan in my apartment for two weeks and I did not receive anything for it, although my stuff was damaged. Asked them to address roaches... they forgot. Never received my security deposit back however some how I owe them money and just received a collections from them ... lol.. never posted a review in my life, this warranted one
I’ve lived at the Westgate apartments for almost 2 years now and my experience increaed significantly when I got to know the Leasing Consultant, Amina. Whenever I’ve had questions, needed something in my apartment tended to, or wanted to see lease renewal options, Amina was extremely helpful and assisted instantly. The service is great and management understands the needs of it’s renters. Westgate is very pet friendly and everyone in the office greets my dog warmly. The location is also extremely convenient to everything in West Hartford. Would highly recommend Westgate and Amina to anyone!
Living at Westgate has felt homely - pleasurable and stress-free.The community is respectful; management very responsive, and generous with their time; maintenance requests resolved expediently; the location is phenomenal for everyday needs; and it’s walkable to a plethora of restaurants in West Hartford center.Under the new management team (Heather Winn), an investment program is in full swing: not just areas you can’t see (new roof), but in places you personally benefit from – keyless entry, refurbished communal areas etc. My apartment was completely repainted, new electrical sockets and professionally cleaned, ready for my tenancy – very respectful.
Since moving into Westgate Apartments it has been nothing but a great experience. Staff is great and Maintenance is fast. Life can be stressful but it is nice to know I dont have to worry about my living situation. Highly recommend.
I have been at Westgate for about 2 months now. From viewing the apartment to the application process and then move in day it has been nothing but wonderful. The staff is extremely helpful, the facilities well maintained, and the residents very conscientious.
This is an excellent, well run apartment complex. The apartments are roomy and comfortable. The staff is friendly and professional, problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently. The location is perfect. A drugstore and 4 restaurants (5?) next door. Grocery store and car repair across the street. AND 30 minute walk (5 min. drive) from down town West Hartford which has EVERYTHING; exceptional restaurants and shopping, Cineapolis movie theater, and an excellent public library. We were only there for three months on a traveling assignment, and would love to come back if the opportunity allows.
Probably the worst financial decision weve ever made, the leasing officers are very rude and unprofessional. It is crazy overpriced. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere better to live and with more professional people in the office.
I just moved into Westgate Apartments last week and Ive been impressed so far with how easy their management team has made the process. I had a few minor issues with my new apartment and they were super quick to correct each one, including replacing a noisy fridge. Big thanks to Nikki and Heather for their responsiveness and empathy.
Toured with a friend who is renting at Westgate and I Love the location of this property! In the middle of everything! Units are great size, the ladies in the office were very helpful to my friend thats what made her lease the unit.
Nice place to live. Good location. ...dont get comfortable. WARNING, they raise the rent intentionally to encourage you to move out!!!! (This was told to me first hand by the lady in the office when I ask why the rent was raised so high at lease renewal).I would have given this place a much higher rating, but if they raise the rent just to encourage you to move out by May (their highest move-in month) then why bother - when obviously they dont even want my business and loyalty as a renter?!
A wonderful home is here at Westgate. I have loved living here for almost two and a half years, and just renewed the lease. There is a lovely brook on the premises which makes for great walks into the surrounding neighborhood. And the West Hartford Reservoir is just a mile away as well. The convenience of the CVS shopping plaza next door and grocery store across the street, and post office are great assets, as is the Dry Cleaners and other restaurants and stores. Also, it is just over a miles walk into West Hartford Center, with its stores, restaurants and Whole Foods Market.I especially love the large windows, pool and patio, as well as the parklike setting complete with park benches and beautiful landscaping. The kitchen is extremely nice and convenient and I enjoy the layout of the apartment. There is also a new gym, which I rarely use, except maybe for inclement weather now and then. The new Office Management is on top of things, vey nice, and the place is well-managed. Maintenance personnel are efficient and problems have always been addressed.I invite you to come see for yourself this beautiful and convenient-to-everything property.
Very nice area other than that very bad managed apartments. Floors are caving in which is a very big problem roofs are leaking half the stuff in my unit is broken almost as if it was surgar coated. I don’t understand when you move into a apartment and the dishwasher is broken and know one cared to make sure everything was working for there new residents that moved in. The new leasing office now has to deal with all these issues. The lady at the desk is a very nice person and I can see that she cares and tries but there are to many problems with this place that need to be fixed and cared for more.
Multiple residents including myself have been lied to about their services. I was promised (in writing) AC in both rooms, reserved car parking and neither of them are available. My neighbour was promised in-house laundry unite but are not there. They keep stalling and the office managers are extremely rude. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE APARTMENTS.
Great community, close to West Hartford Center and the reservoir. Renovated apartments look great!
Ive had a great experience working with the staff at Westgate.
Everything was fine, but when we left they took money from our security deposit for 5 additional days.
Well maintained apartment complex
Best place to live in West Hartford!
This place is very overpriced.
The place is beautiful and it is in a strategic place but they have a serious problem with racism they only have white people living in this place Latinos and blacks are not welcome, they have a Latina working with them to disguise racism against The latinos. I applied for an apt and she denied me for the credit, in reality it was because she was Puerto Rican and they do not accept that kind of people in their housing complex.
