They where awesome when I hit a deer. Took pictures sent them in to insurance guy they handled it straight away. Just paid the deductible and it was over. They got it fixed and back to me quickly.
If I could give them zero stars, I would! I bought a brand new car and not even 4 days in, my car was hit by an IMT insured customer and they left the scene. I had witnesses, a police report (which corroborated the witnesses), the driver/owner was cited, and they still denied my claim. The adjuster Jim Mendenhall never fully communicated and I had to hound him for any information. The company and adjusters are completely untrustworthy.

The claims department at Imt is horrendous to work with. They take the attitude of let’s be the bully and threaten people to get our way. They seem to change there tune after threading to stop payment on the payment they made, when you tell them you have video proof there insured caused the accident and you openly invite them to stop payment. Chad in claims will tell you “I’m not other adjusters, I’m a man of my word. If I say it it will happen”. Well Chad set up a rental car, they were half hour late to pick me up, they informed me the time wash changed. Keep in mind Chad is the only one that spoke to them. He also claims he arranged the additional insurance the rental company offers would be paid for by Imt. Surprise surprise when you get the car the rental place has not heard this. So is he really a man of his words? I say no. I will never choose to do business with this company. It’s tragic they claim to be Iowa based and treat people that way. Trust me shop other places for insurance. You will regret using Imt for anything.
We have been with the same agent and IMT insurance for 3 decades. We have not had many claims, but recently with hail and high winds, IMT was quick to send an agent and he very thorough with costs. Thank you IMT!
Terrible service. No one is available to help or direct you. They only provide service between 8-430 CST Monday-Friday so if you get into an accident you will not be able to file a claim or get any service outside of those hours. If you get into an accident within those hours you still need to be able to wait at least 2 business days for someone to contact you. Terrible.
Nothing buy a scam here. Denied a claim for a small business landscaping company that caused a flood into my basement. The landscaping company is now paying me out of pocket to avoid lawsuits. See the horrible reviews here, pretty obvious why.

I had IMT Commercial Insurance for close to 15yrs. Never a single claim, ever. Until, a big corporation decides to use a false claim as termination reasoning. In short, it cost me not only my policy, my agent history, a 26yr reputation, also certain family and friends. How? Computer hacking for audit information, yep, I said it and not a bit of fear, because its true, and they know I have proof. Also, the fraudulent claim has mysteriously silenced, after insisting to my agent that the system is mixed up so much that any insurance company will pay a loss (and this one had 3 different $ amounts, stated 3 different times and kept getting less), if the loss is less than the attorney fee to prove innocence of the insured. Agent sadly agreed, but was speechless when informed the company underwritten this policy has an attorney involved in a bigger matter that a simple payment in this case would have big implications in the larger. And I am prepared to face the claimant in court. With sufficient evidence that not only claimant but others would have light shined on as well. I imagine this review will not last here long, but, the adjuster has not replied, the corp has stopped pushing the issue, the out of state attorney wanting reimbursement for the claimants policy is quiet as well, and surprisingly the claimant not only is silent, but picked up the home and moved, literally. Unfortunately my commercial auto was with the same company that paid the homeowners policy and caused issues on renewals there as well. I didnt name the Employee but, if you are reading this, know that I know, this is not your first job with this title, before was D of L for ST of IA, and for those that could not afford bigshots, also studied local, and to top that, your spouse makes for a credible witness as well. This little battle has been going over 2yrs nows, it is much bigger than a fraudulent claim, but this is the insuance part of it. I will let everyone I can know, as it has not only killed my passion for the work I did, damaged insurance ratings without even a single paid claim, but, it got personal when it comes to family. False claims, identity theft, slander, threats, defamation, computer hacking, computer forensics, email editing and re-editing when confronted, phone clones and hacking, text editing, contacts editing, hidden cameras, tracking, falsified documents, timeline editing, unsuccessful jobsite sabotages and setups, all true, come get the proof. Better yet meet me at the table and bring your checkbook. Someone send this to the newpaper, Im sure Im not alone it goes nationwide. Pun intended as well, (my former homeowners). We recently got notified that they would be terminating our house insurance due to the fact that we have a German Shepherd on the premises. A German Shepherd I might add who we had when we first got insurance with them. They didn’t have an issue with her at that time. Reason number 2 we got cancelled was because we had horses here for the summer. Even though those exact horses were covered by my parents’ house insurance in Iowa. 3rd reason we got cancelled was because there is no railing upstairs for a door that leads outside that we do not use. This door was there when we bought the house but they insured us at that time. Lastly we have a heat source that we’ve never used. It’s also been there since we moved in.I’m not trying to fight it as we’ve already cancelled our insurance with them and signed up with a new company who does not discriminate against dogs. I’m just trying to warn people about insurance companies like this. My biggest issue with them is that the things they said they were dropping us for were here when they did the walk through when we initially bought our house and signed up for their insurance.Make sure you ask questions about things like this when insuring your house because I didn’t even know they could cancel house insurance based on things they are already aware of.
I have never had a problem with IMT they are really a great company. Every claim I have had has been handled fast and efficient with no problems. My agent has been a great agent ! He’s always been there for me and my families insurance needs . The claim agent that just handled my claim Penny Z was great and very friendly and efficient. Thanks
Terrible company to deal with. I have had to fight with them on every part of my claim from derecho. Took from August 10th till the week before Christmas to get the hole in my roof fixed due to them fighting city code and my contractor. Tried to as they put it scab my home back together. Still fighting them on line of sight with the siding, facia and soffit. My garage is leaning and they dont want to fix it due do an inconclusive engineer report that said its leaning in direction of the storm, but saw no new exposed wood, even though I showed new exposed fractures in my studs. constant emails about a pool that I took down and had 3 adjusters verify was taken down. Great rates, but worthless if they have to pay out!!!
As a restoration contractor we usually have to send 3/4 emails before we get a response from an insurance adjuster.. this wasn’t the case with Mr. Roth out of West Des Moines. After our initial meeting & paperwork submittal, Mr. Roth expedited our mutual client’s claim and reviewed it overnight - unheard of in our industry! I would give a zero if possible. Very poor company. Very rude and accuse customers of committing crimes. Ended up waiting over three months to settle a car claim two years ago. In the meantime the case worker wouldn’t return calls or update myself or agent. When we purchased our replacement vehicle we wanted to increase the coverage. Which in turn would increase our policy cost. IMT wouldn’t do it. They said their underwriter wouldn’t approve it. I have never had a claim before the last vehicle. Both my wife and I have over 780 credit scores. Then they asked if we purposely damaged the new vehicle? Were we lowering the rate so we could make a claim? Once again accusing us of doing something illegal. Went to Progressive with better rates and more coverage. Since we did that they raised our home insurance over $400 per year. So glad I’m moving my homeowners away from them as well. I would give a zero if possible.
Had IMT for 15 years with only one minimal claim over that time. Had to change my coverage to keep up with the times so I was increasing my coverage. Just because I have an American Bulldog that is one of the most people friendly dogs even by breed standards, I was told that I will not be covered by them any longer. That is the most narrow minded discriminatory decision I have ever seen. They should be ashamed of themselves. I would of been willing to pay a little more but to drop me like that? Hope you enjoyed my money for the last 15 years. Anybody who cares about these dogs should never do business with them. Especially those who work at shelters.
Im seeing a lot of unnecessary new roofs in Des Moines, diverting labor and materials from people who need it. Im glad IMT takes the time to evaluate claims. It keeps my premiums low and helps people who need it. Just because a storm goes through, you arent entitled to a new roof.
Never take this for your business insurance. I have painter who had this insurance and did damage to the property. It took for ever to solve the case and insurance covered only small part of damage. By reading other people reviews I can say this company is a scam avoid any business which have it.
We went to IMT at our banks referral, all was fine for the first year or so. Then we were going to be late on a payment, we called them to let them know and that we would pay it in a week. They charged a $20.00 fee for being late.I can understand the fee but to make the late payment they had to take us off auto withdrawls and they told my wife she had to set it up again online but the site wouldnt let her so they said they would fix it.Then we received another late fee the following month because we couldnt get back on auto draft.Again, I can tolerate this fee as well, but starting to get frustrated.Then the next month the auto draft still wast taken care of and we received another fee as well as an increase in our rate.My wife called to inquire as to why our rate increased and why we cant get back on auto pay. They said the rate increase was in case anything happens! Really! that is their answer! They did finally helped her get back on auto pay after over $60 in fees but no offer to refund any of them.So, we decided we are tired of IMT and to go to another insurance agency to stop the fees. We called IMT to find out when we could stop their service without fees and we were told they would call us back. The following month I called them to see if they were going to follow up or not and I also asked them to provide my homeowners rate without a group auto discount. I was told that someone would follow up within the week but they didnt. I called back the following month and was told I would receive a call asap, but 3 months later and I have never received ONE follow up call!This company raises rates with no explanation and does not return calls. They also charge unreasonable fees for issues they had a hand in, I would avoid them if possible.
We have used this company for years with no issues, it was nice to have direct line to agent, but in last year our 6 month premium has been increase at high rate. Beginning of year rate increased $70/6 months now another $20! With zero claims/ zero accidents in 5 plus years. We have just received quote from another company and savings is $500 a year! I like the small town feel of this company but It would be stupid not to switch.
Great company to get insurance through until you actually need them. I hit a deer about a month ago going 75mph and filed a comprehensive claim. The adjuster would not come see the vehicle due to COVID and provided me with a quote via pictures. He suggested being that the truck was older I take the money. The other option was to get a quote at a body shop and then they would compare and fix the truck. At the body shop we walked around the vehicle and discussed repairs verbally. I was under the impression that all of the damage was going to be fixed. He sent the quote to insurance and then I got updates from the body shop. When I went to pick up the truck only about 3/4 of the repairs were completed. The body shop griped that the adjuster was very difficult to deal with and any further work would need to be done with a supplemental ins claim. My adjuster told me that because my bumper had prior damage to the other side, I was “basically in the same spot as before, needing a bumper, so we won’t cover that”. Even though I don’t like that answer, I can see his reasoning. There is also a dent in the hood clearly in line with drivers sight view (something I would have noticed if it existed prior to the accident) and they won’t fix those damages because the deer was not on the hood of the truck, rather it rolled down the side crushing in the quarter panel and door, creating a bind at the seem where the door, panel and windshield post all meet. Also oddly enough the hinge for the hood bolts up right in that seem. The adjuster said I was more than welcome to file a second claim. He also had the audacity to say “we really did a lot for you on this one already”.....they fixed 3/4 of the accident related damages, and “this one” is my ONLY claim. There are a couple small small dings and dents along the drivers side of the truck that were preexisting and left un-repaired, and I did not claim them to be part of the accident, even though they probably could have been lumped in with the other damage.I can’t imagine the headaches I’d be dealing with if someone actually got hurt in this accident.I am switching my 6 vehicle commercial auto policy as well as my homeowners insurance policy away from IMT as a result of this occurrence.

Joke. I have been meaning to write this for some time. We had hail come through last year in our area. Every single house in our neighborhood received new roof claims from there insurance. IMT agent came to look at ours and said everything seemed ok even though I received 2 reports from different companies that we had hail damage to roof, gutters, window screens, etc. The IMT agent didnt even bother to look at those. Was at our house in and out and did not look at the whole home. Very frustrating. I have noticed there have been the same reviews here and the response back from the company is I am sorry to hear that please call our 800 number. What will that even do at this point? Waste of time?
Ignore Joel Duffys great review. Joel Duffy is an insurance agent for Sheets Draper Insurance. And guess what insurance his agency sells? IMT !!!! So, his review is absolutely useless.An insurance Companies reviews should be based upon people who have actually had a problem because that his when you need your insurance. I currently have IMT but am considering leaving after hearing very bad things about the company. I do not want to wait until I have a disaster to see whether they will take care of me.The current complaint I have is that my auto insurance must be paid annually. Otherwise it is over $150.00 more per year. That is outrageous. I can see getting an extra fee for paying monthly or quarterly but over $150.00. Really?

If I could give zero stars, I would. You pay for insurance, have a nasty storm come through, they come a deny claims for a roof. Had my contractor come out and said lots of hail damage, missing shingles. But because of a report of hail in the area didn’t indicate lots of hail, denied.
IMT is a great company to work with until you actually need to file a claim. I recently had a deer collision at 75 mph and it has been a nightmare to get my vehicle repaired, I cant imagine what we would be going through if someone actually got hurt. Due to COVID-19, the adjuster was not coming out to review the damaged vehicle and instead doing what he could from pictures, and counting on a report/quote from the body shop to find a middle ground to either repair or total out the truck. Part of the fault lies in the hands of the body shop, who told me they would get certain things repaired at the expense of the insurance, then did not. Two areas of concern were the front bumper and the hood of the truck. The collision was on the drivers side of the truck. We hit the head/neck of the deer with the truck and I swerved to the right as the deer bounced down the entire side of the truck. There was new damage to the drivers side of the bumper but because there was pre-existing damage to the passenger side of the front bumper the adjuster felt I was in the same place as I was before the accident, needing a bumper so they wouldnt cover it. While I can see his reasoning, the auto body shop claimed I would be getting a new bumper. Even an offer to share the cost wouldve made me feel a little better. There is a new dent in the hood of the truck in perfect view of the drivers seat/line of sight, something I would have noticed if it was pre-existing, that occurred after the quarter panel and drivers door were pushed in. The adjuster feels that because the deer was not up on the hood of the truck, then its not possible the 75mph contact or the shifting of the other panels could have resulted in this dent/crease in the hood. The body panels dont line up the same on the drivers side as the passenger side and I was instructed to take this up with the body shop as it is their error. He made sure to tell me that his 10yrs of experience and bosses 20yrs of experience trump any recount I have of the accident or what damage was there prior to the accident, because they cant see how this would have happened. There are other dings and dents along the drivers side of the vehicle that I could have claimed were related to the deer collision, but did not, and they went unfixed/addressed. He even felt it appropriate to offer me the option of opening a second claim on the vehicle for further repairs. And lastly, he concluded with you know, we have already done a lot for you on this one...first of all this is my ONLY claim with IMT, secondly all you did was repair 3/4 of the damage from an accident I had and scoff at the rest and make up excuses why you werent repairing it.I am currently switching my 6 vehicle business auto policy and my homeowners insurance away from IMT, even if the cost is greater. Not only have you wasted too much of my time with this process, but youve taken my money to provide me with a service and I am not getting it. Again I am glad no one was physically hurt in the accident, and this is all just over some body panes on a vehicle.
Ive been insured with IMT for 15 years. Ive had 2 auto claims with them and both were handled perfectly. My rates have been stable the entire time. Everyone Ive talked to there has been extremely helpful! I would highly recommend them!

Update to my review. I sustained a loss as a result of a hail storm. My roof, while older, had been checked a year or so earlier and it was reported to be in good condition with years of life remaining.My insurance on the roof took into account that the roof would be depreciated. I knew this when I signed on for coverage.I needed a new roof and the Leaf Guard gutters were also damaged. The claim has been resolved to my complete satisfaction. Thanks to my agent working for me with the carrier.
Ive had Wadena for at least 8 years. It was brought to my attention a claim I understood was still pending was closed in April 2018 without any further action and without any damages paid. This is from an accident that happened in September 2015. In the interim I had discussions with the adjuster, the most recent on 2/2/18.The adjuster made no attempt to update me on the status. I just found out while checking rates with other companies of this incident on my record.The claim is a result of a 3rd party trying to perpetuate insurance fraud claiming neck and back injuries. I was there shortly after the accident occurred as it was my vehicle that got totaled due to a red light runner. The person trying to scam the system was totally fine. All my attempts to reveal the fraud with the adjuster or IMT were totally ignored. Despite the fraud attempt and the court rejecting personal injury claims IMT is showing me as if I filed the claim. Yes it was my vehicle, however I wasnt the person claiming personal injury. That has to change. So much for being worry free.....
I would shop elsewhere. They refused to pay a $1,000 auto claim and their adjuster didn’t follow up for around 40 days following the claim. I now gladly pay more elsewhere just to ensure I would get paid on any serious home or auto claims.
We have had IMT for several years now for auto, home, and rental property insurance (multi-policy discount). I had my first insurance claim on a rental property in March 2016 and IMT took excellent care of us. I received an initial payment within a few weeks of the fire and the rest after demonstrating that we were using the money to restore the property. I also received lost rent during the time of repairs. Very happy with this insurance company, which is underwritten by Nationwide insurance.
Stay far away from this company. I had a full replacement cost policy and after a severe hail storm my roof was a mess. The adjuster that came out and looked at it agreed that I had hail damage to not only the roof, but also the window trim, downspouts, and gutter guards. They claimed that they would not replace the roof despite having full replacement cost coverage because the shingles were defective having come from a manufacturer who had a class action lawsuit filed against them due to this particular shingle. Now, I had purchased this house only 2 years prior with what appeared to be a pristine looking roof, purchased full replacement coverage to protect my investment, and they refused to fulfill their obligation to cover it after suffering major storm damage. Why have this type of coverage, which of course is more costly, only to be told they wont pay. All they were willing to cover was the gutter guards and downspouts, the window trim, and a 10x10 section of the roof even though the entire roof suffered damage. All I received was $2000 which doesnt even come close to the cost of redoing the roof. I had to finance the remainder of what I needed to do the roof and not replace the other items that were damaged. To add insult to injury they told me that until i replaced the roof they would not cover any subsequent damage caused by the damaged roof. This is not my idea of replacement cost coverage. Just dont do business with this company, they are the absolute worst insurance company out there.

I hate rating a company 1 star but last year at this time I logged into my auto policy to make my monthly payment as normal and due to new technology updates/website issues on their part my payment was applied to my homeowners policy instead (which is normally directly paid by my mortgage institution not me). Then I was mailed a letter stating I was dropped for no payment and in order to continue I would have to pay reinstatement fees. I called my local representative and spoke to someone at the main office and it was clear I had made my payment but it was applied wrong (their fault) and therefore they would be refunding me my money minus all the fees which were quite expensive. Instead of using common sense and seeing the bill was paid on time and admitting their tech glitches they tried to blame me saying I must have logged into the website on the wrong account. This was an impossible scenario since I only have login info for my auto policy. They refused to take responsibility and said I would have to be totally dropped or pay the extensive late fees.My local agent told me today....a year later that they were in fact having major tech and website issues and were being stubborn and not issuing credits for the customers they screwed over.Im going to look for a new insurance company. I highly highly do not advise insurance through them.
We have been with IMT for the last 15 years. Let me rephrase that, IMT has graciously taken our money for 15. Try to file a claim on our roof and get a cancelation notice while 8 houses on our street get new roofs. We have had 3 different hail storms over the last couple years. We have had four different roofing companies saying we have hail damage.
So these are pictures of hail damage to a property that I have been paying IMT for years for insurance coverage only to have their adjuster claim that he couldnt find any damage after I had him come back a second time and I personally showed him the damage! There are no fewer than 6 of my neighbors within 500 of this house that had claims paid. Go figure they wont show the pictures even though their site allowed me to download them! Interesting.
Unfortunately, I must echo many of the reviewers and recommend you avoid seeking coverage from IMT. I was a long term customer of IMT until recently. My claim for hail damage to my roof was denied despite widespread damage in my neighborhood and 3 roof replacements directly across my street.IMT has a horrible reputation for fighting hail damage claims per roofing contractors I spoke to. Isnt it ironic that you pay insurance premiums for peace of mind and to protect against legitimate losses such as this but then denied your claim. If you find yourself in a similar situation, Id recommend seeking a public insurance adjuster to represent you.
This use to be a great company to do business with. Myself and my family have used IMT for years, I have had to make claims in the past and always felt like I was treated fairly until recently. Please look else where before signing up with a company that doesnt have the customer in their best interest.

First time filing a claim and this agent Jamal Kemp or whatever just starts throwing shade on me when nothing was explained to me on how to go about getting my car fixed. He was under the assumption that I knew. One thing you should never do is assume. Now here I am with a rental car I dont need waiting for my car to get fixed and this guy has the woest customer service. Im switching insurance because this has been a nightmare and he has been nothing but rude and no help. Thanks a friking lot IMT.
I notice alot of bad reviews. Crossing fingers but so far we have not had any problems and in fact we had a claim and it was done perfectly to our satisfaction.
These people are scam artists. I was hit by a plow truck company IMT insures. The truck ran a stop sign and hit my car as I was driving in a parking lot. The insured was adamant at the scene that there was no stop sign (it was written on the asphalt) and there is no right of way in a parking lot. The insured told their claims rep they did not stop (because they did not believe there was a stop) and I provided pictures of my car hit from the side in the middle of the street in front of the stop sign their insured drove right through. They still claimed I was partially at fault for driving normal down a road and getting blindsided by their insured admittedly breaking the law. The claims rep didn’t respond to phone calls or emails. I waited over two weeks to get a letter that partially blamed me and never heard a word from the company no matter how much I called. It’s shameful that this kind of bad business can still be conducted without being punished. Not only will I be filing a complaint with the Dept. of Insurance, but will be taking legal action against IMT for damages relating to their failure to conduct their investigation according to processes defined by the DOI.
Have been IMT customer for many years, have 3 cars, 31 RV, Boat and Personal Umbrella policy with them. My daughter had a fender bender in 2017, I had damaged my trucks fender backing out in to my trailer in 2018 (my fault), we had hail storm damages and recently rock chip to cars windshield in 2018. just got a letter stating they are canceling all of my cars, RV and boat policies DUE to claim history. Yes we were at fault 2 times but HAIL and ROCK CHIP is OUT OF OUR CONTROL! Now waiting to see if they will cancel rest of the policies. I guess they only LOVE YOU when you pay them $$$$ and they DO NOT WANT YOU when you file claims.... Thank you IMT INSURANCE.
A year after we purchased our house, there was a severe hail storm. Most of the roofs in our neighborhood were replaced. However, when our adjuster looked at our roof, he said there was no hail damage BUT that IMT would no longer insure our roof due to age and wear of the shingles. So the year before it was insurable, then it suddenly aged horribly in one year yet miraculously escaped the hail damage that the other houses suffered. So we paid for a new roof out of pocket and found a new insurance company. I gave them an extra star because the customer service was actually very good during the cancellation process. I just dont care for their insurance practices.
Cheap insurance company which is fine unless you ever have a claim. We had a hail storm in June and its now September and just got an adjuster to our house yesterday. Three contractors all agreed we have hail damage and one even met the adjuster there and circled all the spots with chalk. The adjuster said it wasnt hail damage and closed claim. All of our neighers houses were total losses. There roofs were inspected, paid for and completed before the IMT adjuster made his way to our house. Weve been with IMT for 8 years...time to fined a new insurance company...dont be fooled by the price you get what you pay for. Run for the hills with this company will revise and post specific reasons as to why but please this company is a classic take your money over insure you no discounts for loyalty then call you as if your the other party to question you on a claim just to look for a reason to deny a claim exactly what my agent renee hill of warren insurance told us would not be the case.1)request certified copy of your policy ask for them to point to specific policy language as to why they denied your claim .2)file complaint with your state agency as to your concerns the company is obligated to respond do not let the state agency just be information go between have them explain why there not assisting you with your concerns3) research make sure language in your policy is consistent with there denial in addition a insurance regulator has an obligation to not permit an insurance company do behave however they wish.4) if all parties are unassisting file complaints against them with your inspector general office and states attorney.5)and if claim is large enough possibly inquire with attorney, small claim ask local court clerk how to file claim possibly against agent since they are the persons selling the product.6)and finally look for new insurance provider not just cheapest either get treated poorly by once shame on them wait to get treated poorly again shame on you. We had a small fire to our garage and a water spill from our dishwasher and this company dropped us after 20 plus years of being a customer. choose another insurance. they just want your money and no claimsif you have a couple claims be ready to be dropped.

Have had coverage since 2011 with no issues. Have had a couple of claims that were handled satisfactorily.
IMT is cheap, and terrible. They dont send invoices, just cancellation notices. We have set up escrow pay and auto-draft from our checking account repeatedly. If a change is made to the policy, they stop the auto-draft and cancel the policy due to non-payment. In the 2 years weve been with IMT, our policies have been processed for cancellation at least once a year due to their billing changes. Before IMT, I have NEVER had ANY payment/billing issues with and insurance company. Horrible.
IMT was initially a great company to be insured under, until their unprofessional and immature cancellation of our policies. My wife and I have never, in 11 years of driving, been in an accident at all. Our only claims histories were act of God, being a couple windshield replacements and a small hail claim. We have also never made a claim on homeowners insurance in four years as homeowners.IMT cancelled our policies out of the blue due to the act of God instances above, and a simple request of seeing what business insurance would be for a potential business. Instead of telling me I simply cant have that type of business on my property (tire repair), they cancelled my policy completely! I quote: due to a potential business that we will not allow whether you have yet started this business or not, we will not allow this exposure on premises and we have chosen to non-renew due to this potential exposure.Extremely unprofessional and immature behavior, especially for a low-risk customer who has never been in an accident, and never reported a claim for home in the four years of home-ownership. I am glad they canceled, as another company was happy to help with no issues in regards to a potential business, better overall coverage, and for about 20% less cost!
I had homeowners insurance through IMT for two years. Our neighborhood was hit with a bad storm, straight line winds that snapped and uprooted large trees. Several shingles flew off my roof and all over the yard. I bought a bundle of closely color-matched (but not exact) shingles and climbed on the roof to replace the ones that blew off (about 6 sheets worth).A few weeks later, I see construction signs in half a dozen yards in my neighborhood and I ask whats going on. They were all getting new roofs paid for by their insurance company. To my untrained eye, their roofs didnt seem damaged, and they didnt have shingles come off. So I called up IMT to have them come take a look - they sent an independent adjuster. I was told 1. that because I repaired it already, it demonstrates that the roof is repairable, and 2. that its only about $500 worth of repair (on my $1000 deductible). Fine, okay, thanks for your time.Fast forward 6 months, and my insurance premium goes up 50% and I start shopping for new insurance. Come to find out, IMT shows a $296 claim on my home (for money I didnt get). When I call to talk to them, the $296 was for the independent adjuster (which I didnt ask for). My IMT representative did not want to go on the roof, hires an independent guy, and charges my home with a $296 claim, which now shows up when I shop for other insurance!I will pay double not to have this insurance company again. I moved my cars and my home away from them.
Ask if IMT if theyll pay your whole claim or not. They wont and then theyll expect you to eat 5,000 off of your bill. Luke lyle will deny a reasonable claim and drag out your contractors payments and try to force their own preferred vendors on you. THIS COMPANY IS A SHAM
I would highly recommend that nobody do any business with this crappy company. I recently parked my car at my house, and in a storm that night a branch from my neighbors tree fell off and completely destroyed the top of my car. I come to find out a few days later that this pathetic company called it an act of god and refused to pay anything. I am a college student, basically broke right now, living paycheck to paycheck. How am I supposed to pay a 1000 dollar deductible to get my car fixed without any money? This insurance company is selfish, greedy, and out to screw you out of your hard earned money. I would not wish this sort of treatment on anybody. IMT group, I hope I never have the misfortune of dealing with this stupid company ever again in my life
I was hit by one of their insured drivers who ran a stop sign on the 2nd and still havent heard from the adjuster despite several messages I left. My car is not exactly drivable and I have no way of getting around. This really is not helpful when I have job interviews to get to. They could at least provide a rental car in the meantime. The accident happened 3 days ago. I cant believe I havent been contacted. I know Geico wouldve had someone out immediately.
Recently filed a claim for a totaled truck. IMT came back with a valuation $5000 less than KBB, NADA, Edmunds, and all the comparable trucks on Autotrader. They were comparing my truck to others that werent even close to the same. Their excuse was these are the closest trucks we could find All these trucks were of much lower value which brought down their estimate. A very frustrating and time consuming process. I will be moving my coverage elsewhere. I would advise not to use IMT for your insurance coverage.
I was in a car accident with their insured. They have terrible customer service and want to argue about everything. There is absolutely no follow through. The claims adjuster questioned my intelligence many times which made me very upset. We have State Farm and have been very happy.
This company is a good example of unethical practices. Our car was damaged as a result of their insureds cow being out in the middle of road around midnight June 2. It took until June 9 for anyone to contact us and when they did contact us, the agent from Sioux City was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. He wanted to come see the car on June 12 and we said the car would be at the house for him to look at. Well, June 12 came and went with no agent showing up or calling us. But come to find out, he was in town talking with the insured and asking him questions about our daughter. Well, if he would have shown up like he said he was going to, he could have seen for himself what kind of person my daughter was. The agent does not answer phone calls or return phone calls but the time I did get a phone call from him (after I sent a complaint to his manager), I asked him why it was taking so long and the only thing he could tell me that he was still investigating it. What? By this time, it had been over two weeks since the accident. The agent also told us to just go ahead and file it under our insurance. This is the tactic this insurance company uses, dont communicate with the victim in hopes they will get so frustrated that they will file under their insurance. Why should I, it wasnt her fault, they just didnt want to have a claim against them. The insured even told us that he takes full responsibility but yet we had to go through this improper delay of claim because they will do anything not to pay. Luckily, my daughter wasnt severely injured or killed. On July 5, I contacted the corporate office in Des Moines because the agent or manager were not keeping in contact with us for several days now. Coincidentally, I received a phone call from the manager that afternoon telling me that after the review, they are denying the claim saying their insured wasnt negligence but yet we had the police report, witnesses and pictures to state otherwise. I also received an e-mail from the manager stating this with a copy of the denial letter attached that he said he sent in the mail. But when I opened the attached letter, it had the wrong date of loss on it and he back dated it to June 30, 2017. I wonder why? When I did receive the letter in the mail on July 11, it was postmarked July 6 so there is no way he sent this letter that was dated June 30, 2017 on June 30.
I had wind damage to my roof. They are only offering to cover the half of the roof that had damage, which will leave me with roof in which the front does not match the back. Time for a new insurance company.
I have had insurance with the IMT group for a short time now after purchasing an older home last year. I had filed my first claim still within living in my current home for less than a year and waited nearly a month for a response regarding the status of claim. I finally called after the last storm that we had as we were experiencing more issues related to the original claim. I was told on the phone that none of the claimed instances were covered under my policy. My frustration from this is I had transferred from usaa as my homeowners policy with usaa I was never left out of the loop of what was happening with my claims and their decisions were made in a timely manner. I feel that the bad reviews for this company are well deserved. It is assanign that it takes nearly a month to reach a decision on a claim.
I had one claim in October for my home owners insurance because my house was broken into and robbed. It was a terrible thing to happen and then I get a letter from IMT saying they were not renewing our policy because of our claim history. They are not an insurance company who stands behind their customers so take your business and money elsewhere!
Have an issue with IMTs 3rd party claim writers who are not efficient and when transferred to supervisors through IMT...they brush us off as if they can not be bothered with the issues at hand. Very glad I dont have this insurance and will advise my customers to not quote with this company.

If youre in the Milwaukee area the adjuster is very slow at getting anything done. He constantly gives excuses and will give you a new date that things will be done by and continuously misses it. They do pay fair amounts for damages though.
