I dont really do reviews. However, the experience I got from Chowning warrants one. Their assessment tech was on time and in and out within 15 minutes, confidently answering any question I had. When they prepared a quote, there wasnt a bottom line. They gave me three install options with modifications to each option to fit my budget. Their technicians arrived on time and were very professional. The ascetic of the install were absolutely beautiful (I went from non energy efficient to high energy efficient). Their prices, my God Their prices! I did about 5 quotes, for high energy efficient they came in at half the cost of anyone I called out. Their quote for high energy was also cheaper than the cheapest quote I got for normal efficency. I cant recommend this company enough!

Ive always used Chowning since moving to Wentzville and have had nothing but great service. This time the fan on the furnace went out in the middle of the night. I called the next morning to schedule an appointment. They sent Chuck by that afternoon, who quickly diagnosed the issue and fixed it in less than an hour. Everything is working correctly and I couldnt be more pleased with the promptness and quality of customer care.

Chowning Heating and Cooling a professional company that is reliable and reasonable. I highly recommend them, honest company to work with. I recently remodeled my home and they took care of venting my bathroom fans to my exterior instead of my attic space. I highly recommend homeowners of older homes do before running into mold issues from too much moisture in your attic space. They also installed a new gas line and vented my new range hood to the exterior and did an awesome job! I have a maintenance agreement where they maintain my units. If there is ever an issue they are always quick to get you up and running so your never hot in the summer or cold in the winter. Very professional friendly staff. They do their best to accommodate your work schedule when making appointments. Definitely a five star company!

He put a new filter in the unit which was the right thing to do.Was unable to give me specifics on the amount of freon that the unit held. Just said he thought it would be okay. Said that the freon used in this unit would be very expensive.He also moved the April Air unit up from #4 to#7. This was a maintenance for the summer. He left the unit on the Winter setting.Since I was unable to be with him, I cant comment on anything else.

We hired Chowning Heating & Cooling for a dedicated HVAC/Gas inspection of our new home. A few months later, our water heater failed and we discovered that the vent pipe was made of a dryer vent. Chowning called this a normal configuration and failed to cite this plainly visible and dangerous problem. They said specifically that it was OK/Pass. Getting up to code cost us a small fortune, and it would have been avoided had Chowning done a good job with their inspection. I called to complain and asked for resolution, expecting theyd at least refund me for the cost of the inspection. They said theyd kick up to management, and I never heard back from them. This company has poor business practices and has incompetent home inspectors. Steer clear at all costs.

I own HomeTeam Inspection Service of St. Charles and Chowning has been my go-to company for gas inspections for four years. They are always prompt, courteous and most of all honest.

Stan did a great job, very professional, handled all questions and concerns.

I called them on Thursday, one of their techs came and checked my ac to see what was going on, he said that in the long run it would be better to replace the one I have, as it would happen each year. By Saturday afternoon a new unit was in and running great. The techs that came on sat were just great and gave us tips on how to keep it running for years to come. Highly recommend.

We had a plumbing issue on a Saturday morning. They were one of the few companies with an emergency detail willing to come out on the weekend. Overall, they are MUCH better value than Hoffman Bros, and MUCH nicer people than at Vitt. Will be using them again.

I recently had a gas inspection done for the sale of a home by Chowning Heating & Cooling. They came out and stated that I had low pressure due to gas leak. They also stated that my shut-off valves on gas line was not to code along with a few other items. They also left a nice bill to have the items fixed.I felt that there was something wrong with their evaluation. I called Spire (formerly Laclede Gas). Spire came out and did a full inspection and found no issues! No Issues!Be careful with these guys and get a second opinion!Thanks,

Found them on Angies List, of the 4 contractors I contacted they were the only one to respond (in less than 10 minutes). Came out a day later, inspected my system and gave an honest repair quote (under 100) and applied the visit cost to my total bill. Very nice gentleman did our work and did a great job.

They came out looked at my furnace and found out that there really wasnt much wrong with it at all and told me that if I changed put a wire on it with a bigger one it would perform better. Then I was charged less than the bid I received over the phone. I dont see where they could improve anything but I was sure surprised how fast they resounded and was here in a hour or so chtarged less was friendly fast and very professional. We woke up one morning to find that our thermostat wasnt working. Chownings number was on the furnace, so we called them. Their guy was out in about 3 hours, which we appreciated - it being a cold day. It took him about 5 minutes to figure out that the thermostats batteries were dead. No charge for the fix but (of course) we did have to pay for him coming out, which is fair. But there responsiveness was excellent!

Chowning had outstanding responsiveness when our AC went out. They were able to send a tech out the same day I called (Monday). By Wednesday afternoon we had a new unit installed and a cool home. Manager (Adam) responded to my texts and calls very timely and provided excellent service.

These guys are amazing. We needed two heat pumps installed in an emergency situation. They were there right away, did the job in less than a day and were super helpful. Price was quite reasonable too. On top of that, this was definitely not your run-of-the-mill job, there were complexities involved. They handled everything with great skill and professionalism. Apparently, one of your employees needs to go back to Drivers Ed. Whoever was in Ballwin today (8/5/20) was driving like a reckless fool.10+ mph over the speed limit, darting in and out from one lane to the next, cutting people off, etc. Hopefully, you can correct this.

Great gas Inspection, reliable service.

Our A/C was filled with 7 lbs of R22 Freon by Adam (the service manager), who apparently didnt check for a leak first. The unit subsequently stopped cooling, and Chowning charged $80 to send a different employee who told us we were out of refrigerant. So I called a different company (PerfectAir Heating and Cooling), who quickly found a leak in the coil. They replaced the coil and the unit works fine now. I just dont know why somebody would fill a unit with Freon without checking for a leak first.

I find it very difficult to get in touch with anyone here... You place your call and noone picks the phone. You have 2 extensions to choose from and no matter which one you choose it will ring and then go to voice mail. Also very Slow at sending out their reports. We love the work they do, but Customer service could really use a BOOST here.

They are very unprofessional, our appointment was set on a Friday for Wednesday afternoon the following week. The inspector nor the office called to report they would not show up during the appointment time. The office rep (very rude) said she has nothing to do with drivers and they didn’t know when he will show up, but he’s in route. We had access to the house from 1pm-4pm, we start calling their office at 1:30pm- 3:45pm (he never showed up.) She also stated that they do 2 hour windows and they have no control of the appointments, or when the inspectors show up. Did I say they are Rude?! I would NEVER RECOMMEND spending your hard earned money with a unethical/unprofessional company like this. FYI we are the buyers!!!!

Driver had no concern for personal safety of other drivers on the road. Continued to tailgate in inclement weather. When I entered location to voice my frustrations was met with complete lack of customer service, rudeness and asked to leave. Owner had no empathy for my feelings. I will let my friends and family and neighbors you called me a troll and see how that help your public relationsAlso your van driver flying (45-50mph) down Peine Road in a 30mph speed limit that slows to a 20mph school zone. The worst experience Ive ever had. I had to kick Barry the service guy off the job. Everything from screwing up the work order to begin with, to the service man throwing a temper tantrum when I wouldnt replace the furnace (which I was previously advised was fixable on my inspection) and then the Manager threw an attitude when I refused to pay for a guy that I had to kick off the job. I would stay away as far as you can and wouldnt recommend anyone use this company to anyone.

Avoid at all cost. Recently hired to replace a pressure relief valve which immediately leaked. Instead of fixing, they said to hire a plumber. Why did they put themselves out as an expert when I should’ve hired a plumber in the first place?
