I have been living here for a while and Im very happy. I had to move out of my old home due to a last minute family sale and they helped me get into a beautiful place, within a week. I was lucky to find such a beautiful place. The neighborhood is quiet, friendly and safe.I see myself being a long time tenant. Select homes is very quick to respond to questions and they were willing to work with me on a certain issue I had. Was fixable but they werent rushing me. Chris was amazing to work with. I called and right away, that same day, I saw the home I ended falling in love with and moved right in. We were first time renters in our new home with brand new, updated appliances! I have rented two different properties for about 2 1/2 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. The Select Homes team is incredibly helpful, personable, and professional. We moved from one of their town homes to a rental house and the process was incredibly smooth and we were helped every step of the way. Maintenance is addressed and taken care of almost immediately. This is by far the best property management/rental company out of the 9 that I have used in 3 different states.

Select Homes was very responsive to our service requests for maintenance when things didnt work right. Thankfully, we had very few maintenance problems. I am looking for a rental in the WNC area. I have called Select Homes twice and they havent been very friendly on the phone. Today we were supposed to have an appointment with them to see a property and they didnt show up or call saying that the place we were to look at was already rented. They said they would call if they had rented it out, but we never got a call on the phone or voicemail. It is really frustrating to do a drive by and drive two hours out of your way just to not have any one show up.

This Is an email response from the mother of the former tenant.she contacted me after I posted warnings on craigslist. We are gathering more evidence each day for our lawyer. The property owners and select homes definitely knew about the bed bugs long before we moved in. Heres the email.Stumbled on this while looking for something else. You did not bring bed bugs into that house. My daughter and son in law moved in there February 2015. While they seemed somewhat immune to the bites - the bed they moved in with became absolutely infested. I know because we bought that bed brand new and there was no issue until they moved into that house.Months later, I moved that bed into my very bug free environment and the nightmare began. We seemed to have been able to keep the problem isolated. We had the room treated and moved the bed out of the room. One year later, everything seems to be ok - but there is no doubt that the infestation came from 805 Sugar Cove.Hope this information is some help. It was a nightmare that no one should ever have to deal with.

Stayed here 3yrs, never missed or had any late rent payments.Signal your intention to move out, watch them flip the script on you. Rude and very unprofessional. MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, EVER!!! From beginning Michelle and Rick have been horrible property managers. They work more for the renter than the owner of the house. Michelle screamed at me over the phone then sent an email shes hard of hearing, lol. If wanting property mgrs, DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!! Allowed renters to smoke in home then wouldnt use security deposit for cleaning or painting. Had to have our realtor call and talk to them bc they always took up for renters and she even asked them, who are you working for?! Renters were horrible as well... lazy, disrespectful & whiny! Had to give renters 30 day notice just to get them out...and then they text horrible, mean msgs to my husband! I am a business owner and this is THE WORST customer service Ive ever seen in my life! Disgusted!!!

Our rental property was 805 sugar cove road clyde North carolinaDay one, move in date of Jan 18 2016. Home was not de-winterized like they said it would be. There was no running water. They put us up in a hotel for 3 days *which they later asked us to pay for. We finally moved in and set up our bedroom downstairs which stank of mold and mildew. remained downstairs for a month..then moved upstairs to the main bedroom. ENTER THE BEDBUGS!!! we didnt know what they were at first..Then my wife and children started getting bit. huge welts. the connection was made. terror filled us. we immediately contacted select homes. BOOOM! hit with accusations. We brought them. I guess we lived 8 years at our last house and did not notice them...not likely. Through hoops we went! Finally after the demeaning accusations we came to an agreement, the landlord would pay for the extermination. They sprayed. not once.. not twice...but four times over a period of 8 months. they had to come back to spray...for in the words of the head inspector from dodson.. its a pretty big Infestation. WE LOST EVERYTHING! all our clothes furniture picture frames everything!! I had to take so much time off work. My wife almost went insane. It was the hardest thing we have had to go through so far. I came to an agreement with select homes about the damages and how I would no longer be able to pay around the first of the month due to loss of work and replacing clothes furniture etc.we selected a payment date of the 28th. This was after the first treatment. Dodson came out two more times for free to reapply poison because we kept finding more bed bugs. a period of a few months went by and we found them again and since it was more than a month after the last spray..they would need payment again to do a whole treatment. We contacted select homes and were met with hostility and accusations once again...we reintroduced them..brought them in on a shopping bag etc..The level of unprofessional-ism was astounding!!! They said they would not pay. We had dodson come out finally to confirm the presence of bed bugs. The tech said he would do the spray that next monday..someone had already payed for it.. They sprayed again..bed bugs *crossing our fingers* were gone now. several months later, the landlords are demanding we pay them back???!!! we never agreed to paying for the treatment..The nightmare we just went through and now they want us to pay for it! It was unreal! obviously we refused. we were threatened with eviction! A retaliatory eviction! Then it blew over for a couple weeks and we got an eviction notice in the mail on the 26th of july for non payment of rent even though we had a verbal agreement for us to pay on the 28th of every month. to make it seem like it was not in retaliation for us not paying for the pest control... We consulted several lawyers..who all advised us to fight the eviction and told us it was retaliatory. we spent over $500 in consultation fees alone. I spoke to michelle at select homes who said that if we left before the court date they would dismiss the eviction. we handed in the keys 2 days before the date and moved out of state. we left all of our furniture clothes..everything..Yesterday was the courtdate...They went through with the retaliatory eviction even though I had michelles word she would not. She threatened to sue us If I posted my experience with select homes online. so here it is...sue away! all the things weve had that were of value are long gone because of this.I hope that my story can help someone. I hope that you ask for a bed bug inspection of any rental property before you move in. This was truly a nightmare! 805 sugar cove road clyde nc had and probably still does have bed bugs!!!!!!!!!!!
