Tolar-Westgate Funerals and Cremations in Waukegan was a pleasure doing business with. All staff members were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and everything we could ask for. They put my mother away beautifully and went over and beyond trying to meet our needs. We could not have asked for or received anything more. My family and I thank them so much.

Our Family unfortunately was presented with an unpleasant experience as there was miscommunication from the funeral home directors. While Im sure Funeral Home Directors/Staff deal with grieving and/or difficult Family members, I would think it would be best practice to attempt to bridge the gap with those Family members so that the end goal is ultimately achieved: a compromise that everyone involved is satisfied with. In our case, this did not occur.

The team at Tolar-Westgate were professional, compassionate, and very accommodating as we are in the midst of COVID-19 restrictions. They were all so very helpful in helping my family honor my father yet still stay within social-distancing requirements. My dad passed away. Julene made the planning for his funeral so easy and stress free. They are so genuine and compassionate and listened to everything that we suggested. I knew my dad was in good hands when she asked us to describe our dad. He had locs and she even retwisted them. They shaved his face just the way he always did. They made my dads transition a peaceful and royal one. When I received his ashes, I felt so complete and grateful. Extremely professional service. They handled my mother’s and fathers burial. My father had a tragic death, however we were able to view the body after he was prepared by Tolar-Westgate.

My mother and I just used Tolar-Westgate to coordinate the arrangements of my grandmother’s funeral on 3/23/19. Eric and Julene were very organized and clear on what was needed. They were extremely comforting and easy to work with. Everything we ask for they did above and beyond what was expected. They were with us beginning to end at the cemetery and were super attentive to what we told them about my grandmother- from who she was down to the makeup she would wear.When we had the private viewing I was in tears on how beautiful they made my grandma. She looked incredible.The visitation book, obituary, flowers, casket, everything was so so nice. They even gave us a plaque and a beautiful blanket of my grandma that we are in the process of getting framed.I am highly recommending Tolar-Westgate for your loved one’s final farewell. It’s a very hard thing to go through and plan a funeral for someone you love so dearly but it’s such a comfort to have the support and guidance of people who care. I can’t thank them enough.
