Todd is a great owner and he is always helping out. He taught our 4-H club about bike maintenance. The shop is limited due to covid supply breaks but they are always willing to help you plan, update and fix for your next big adventure.❤️
Went into the shop after my wife’s bike had a mechanical malfunction while we were out on the black river trail. Luckily she didn’t get injured, but I’m not really competent in repairing a bicycle. So I searched google for a place that would be close to do the repair and came across this shop. Todd was super helpful and showed my how to get everything working and even gave me the replacement parts to assist with the repair. Hands down the best customer service I could have ever dreamed about. Thanks again Todd if you are reading this, I appreciate the help!
I called ahead, stated I was coming in and what I would need. Arrived, was dismissively ignored while owner carried on social conversation with some guy. 20 uncomfortable minutes passed, as there is nowhere to sit down in that musty used-bike junk room. I left and went to other bike shop, was treated graciously and professionally. This guy only apparently only wants business from certain people, & I failed the interview! Wasted my time but at least learned my lesson where to avoid going.
Brought bike in for tune up and other adjustments. My bike was at the shop for two months and was only worked on when I would check in on progress. Left phone number several times but was never updated on anything. The shop was so cluttered and full of bikes that you can barely enter the shop.
Decided it was time to update my wheelset and got a sweet price deal from Black River Adventurers Shop on a new set. Nice place to get stuff done, friendly atmosphere, lots of products. Used the gift certificate I won at the Spokerride - great that Black River Adventurers Shop supports local events also.
The gentleman was super helpful, offered to take a look at my spin bike after I screwed up the pedal assembly and had my bike back in commission in no time. Definition of customer service!!!! Will definitely be back in the future!!! Thank you so much!!!
No bikes...claims there are none. Showroom looks like a junkyarf
I know enough to make basic repairs and adjustments, however, I could not properly adjust my brakes after replacing the pads. I went in and was taken care of immediately. Todd went out to look at my bike and explained to me what was wrong and fixed it right away. He also shared with me the various programs offered in the summer and winter months. I was impressed and pleased with the customer service.
Todd is a great guy. Super fun to talk to. Good service at a reasonable price. Will rent cross country skis again.
In a pinch and from out of town the guys in the shop gave us great service. I found out they sponsor Thursday night rides and next time were in town will join their group. I got a really great feeling from this place.
Fun little shop. They were between bike lines, so the didnt have many bikes available for purchase. They were able to answer my questions and efficiently fixed my cousins bike.
I have been looking for a bike shop to get parts for my bike and had never dealt with these folks before. First impression was WOW ; very nice, courteous, friendly. More then willing to deal with me and my off brand bike. Would recommend them to anyone needing assistance with bike maintenance or repairs. Tell them thanks from Joe when you visit their shop.
No new bikes for sale
Great store with great service. I was able to get co2 charges for my net launcher there. Great deals on merchandise.
Quick and friendly service, and I was actually caught off guard to how little I was charged compared to other shops I’ve been to.
Well my experience with this store manager was not good at all. He would change subject about what your needs are into getting a plumber for a leak at home. That sounds like perverted man. Anyway, I waited for the racing seat post for three years. No call back at all. I drove from Watertown to Syracuse for thier higher quality seat post. I recommend to stay away from the owner since he didnt want my business.
Fixed up my K2 after a long move had bumped a few things loose. Have been able to enjoy a few rides since and looking forward to exploring the area more!
Dropped my bike off for service on the 12th of June and was quoted 2 weeks for a full tune up with a new chain, tires and drive train check to see if any needed to be replaced (I ride anywhere from 100-150 miles per week). I was going to be out of town until the 16th of July, so I let them know I would pick it up that day, and gave them mine and my wifes number to contact about any parts they found that needed replacing, or other issues. Called on the 16th, and there was no answer, so I went to the shop. My bike was not ready, and was told that they were still waiting on the tires. I was then told it would be ready the next day.Called the next day, still not ready. Called on Wednesday, and its finally ready to be picked up (they had not ordered the parts until I got there on the 16th).So, I go pick up the bike, but the bill is incorrect; they forgot the tires on the billing. Since Im not a dick, I got that straightened out, packed up and went home. Later that night, took the bike out for a ride. It handled fine on the flat 30 mile route I rode along the River from Watertown to Carthage. However, I rode today on a hillier, curvier 30 mile course and it was terrible - constantly slipping gears, threw the chain 3 times, and shifts worse under pressure now than before I took it in.One star only - The staff was friendly and they discounted the work they did by 30% but I am going to have to have it re-tuned, so I cannot recommend the service tech to others who ride avidly/for sport.
Brought my bike in on Friday to have the rim replaced. It was done the next day, reasonable price, great service.
Worst place ever. Bike has been sitting there since Sept 19th, its now Nov 14th. Owner claims it had been started by some school kid and for some reason noone has picked up where he left off, that was told when we stopped by on a Saturday a week ago. Owner says it will be done by that afternoon no later than Tuesday. Guess what, still no phone call still no bike. You will have better luck getting a car restored than getting a bike repaired and this slack ass place called a bicycle repair shop.
These guys were courteous and took great care of me. I would recommend them if you are looking to get repairs.
My bike broke down in the Watertown area while on a ride from Fort Drum. The chain fell off and was stuck in the front derailleur. After a quick fix I was able to make it into Black River Adventures. Todd gave my bike a quick fix and I was on my way back with full range of gears. Thank you so much for the rescue, and friendly service with no charge. I found a cheap magna charger mountain bike missing a left crank arm and pedal. Went here asked the lady if they can fix it. She bluntly said we dont fix that here thats a walmart special. I said can you order the part. She gave me the dont bother me sigh and said $35. Plus labor and moved on. then some guy in the shop walks up and said oh i started riding with a bike like that but busted it so i came here and bought this $600.00 bike. So black river adventure shop wouldnt work on my walmart special because it was to cheap? So i went to blue cat got it fixed, gears adjusted and bike fitted to me for $15.00. This cheap bike has many trails since.
Always friendly, great advice, very knowledgeable and personable.
Great customer service.
Website is ancient and doesnt list their current offerings. Little to no stock in the store.
Great experience, competitive prices, friendly owner.
Outstanding service and staff!
Rude costumer service over the phone when asking for assistance.
