Absolutely trash service. I have had nothing but issues for weeks. Ive had 2 people come out and it hasnt been any better. I even had an appt. 9/8 and they never came even after calling and was told they will be a little late. Im beyond fed up with the fake helpfulness and never ending no resolution for these issues. Prices are a slap to the face as well for the amount of issues I know everyone has. Worst company ever. I cant wait to never have to use mediacom again!

Pay for 100mb/s download speed and the internet maybe works half the time and at that, when it does everything has to buffer. Download speeds show 300+ on the speed test they recommend using, but on actual downloads and other speed tests it maybe pushes 10mb/s at its highest. Customer service tells me to power cycle and when they send a technician the only thing he was concerned about was leaving. Absolute trash and totally despicable after seeing advertisements for reliable high speed internet. Note: my phones Hotspot doesnt buffer, and speed is 2x as fast so if youre thinking of getting mediacom I would consider getting unlimited data and using a Hotspot before signing into anything from mediacom

Mediacom is terrible. Their Internet service goes down a lot. So I call and schedule an appointment Because even though I still been paying them I havent had any service for over a week now.. The time they say that they can be here is between 1 and 5.(Thats too vague for normal working people) I told the man on the phone I wouldnt be home till 2 he said no problem. What did they do.. they got here right exactly at 1and then they left 5 minutes after I wasnt here. The service is not good.

First time customer. Have had internet with them for 2 days was connected with internet for 1, now I have no internet and have to wait for a technician to come out in a couple days. Im very displeased that the tech who came to install my modem was almost 3 hours early so I was home alone. My husband took off work to be here for it and received a call but was working. The tech just showed up knocking was here for mabey 10 min answered no questions left and was never heard from again even tho my husband tried to call him multiple times only to get a full voice-mail box and his text ignored. I cant believe its only been 2 days and we are having all these issues

Pay for internet and modem says have no connection. On my 2nd modem from Mediacom and they say going to send a tech on Sunday and supposedly at no cost to fix the problem. Would of rated higher but when you gone threw 2 modems in a week that says connected but have no internet. Not happy at all!

The simplest issue seems to keep them offline for hours. Also, it appears as that they have insufficient, if any, redundancy to keep service operable in the most common and predictable circumstances. outages can be hours, days, or weeks leaving all kinds of technology useless including online school or working.

Called about my bill on how it was normally $72 and now it’s $102 with no notice or anything. They said it was a promotion but when I signed up they never told me I was on a promotion or anything. The person I talked to was also very rude on the phone. After receiving the reply from Mediacom I decided to give them a call back and the lady I talked to this time was super helpful and nice which I very much appreciate. They were able to get me back to the original price we were paying so overall I am happy. Mediacom definitely knows how to take care of its customers.

Paid my bill over the phone. The payment said it processed so I didn’t worry about it. I do not check my bank account regularly and about a week later my service was completely disconnected. I tried to use their already useless customer service and they told me i had to pay $50 to reconnect my internet and also pay my firsts months bill. Their claim was i got an email alerting me of the failed transaction. Guess what no email, and yes I checked all the folders. Do not use this company unless you have to like me. No ones else offers service in my area and i am considering moving because of this. When the internet does work its even slow unless it’s 4am. Do not use the garbage modem they provide. Get a Netgear or something worth while. This is the only one star review I’ve ever made.

And I thought TimeWarner was bad.....Mediacom is even worse.Always buffering/lag issues and all they do is want you to upgrade service even tho you have the fastest available already. Mediacom, is the absolute worst internet and cable provider. Ive had them out to our place at least 20 times in 4 years. Either the internet is down or its an issue at the pole, or its an equipment issue. They dont care about customer support. On Consumer Reports they are ranked at the bottom or near the bottom in customer service and quality of products. There needs to be other options in the area, but Century Link isnt any better. Mediacom needs to figure this stuff out. The scissors are out and Im about to cut the cord.

Extremely long wait times for customer service, unclear billing, and decent internet. Ive never called customer service and not waited for less than 20 minutes. Once I got to a representative they were good. After 1 year my bill went from $40 to $70 with no notice or reminder it was changing.

Theres no line to this office so that you cant talk to anyone. I get two confirmations by phone and by email that theyre going to install my internet today. And then they canceled my appointment and I have to wait 4 more days for an internet installation. Zero customer service. Cable no input error Thurs. June 4th, tech said it was the remote. Replaced remote. Sat June 6th same error no input. Tech came back Tues, June 9th the tv is bad. Asked could it be the box hence no input he said it isnt the box again. Bought new tv, nephew came to hook up, no input error again. It was the box.smh

I love that Mediacom always keeps my life interesting. I never know when they are going to randomly decide to jack my bill up, drop service in my area, or maybe just slip in a little extra fee to let me know that they love me. And when one of those things happens, I get the joy of contacting their wonderful, helpful, kind, and intelligent customer service agents. I love how they skirt around my problems and just tell me what they see in their system. Its so cute. I actually have thought about getting a second Mediacom connection just so that I can spend more time with them.

This would be a zero star if it was even possible. This morning while my husband drove our family east on hwy 30 a (Black Hawk County) Mediacom Sales Rep driving a black car was very intentionally tailgating our vehicle while we were in the fast lane trying to pass another vehicle. So close you couldn’t see the full windshield when looking back. We have 4 children in the car and he very easily could have caused a serious accident. Now imagine that headline, Media-com representative kills family of 6, 3 children under 3. While having serious road rage on a Saturday morning. So disappointed.

Waterloo and the missing 1gigWhere do I start being a customer of nearly 11 years I can assure you if any other company ever can compete with you’re speeds 90% of this community will switch to them. I have had numerous techs come out numerous equip replacements and consistent disappointment. I have ran new cables bought multiple replacements because the only training techs have is signal strength is fine have to call support. I’m not sure why I pay for 1gb of service and can barely break 250 on a good day but this is ridiculous. A tech is scheduled again for later today to come out and look at the same job the other 10 techs who have been here the last two years have and tell me the same thing faulty equip or customer support. You guys literally push off and push off until I get too busy or frustrated and give up for a few months. All I want is what I pay for

Called tech support about my internet crashing and not being able to use my fire stick. I was abruptly told by a foreign lady the problem was not due to Mediacoms service because it was showing my internet was connected I tried to explain to her that the same thing has happened 3 times in the past 2 weeks and was solved by a tech shooting a signal to my router however she consistantly interrupted me uttering the same thing over and over each time getting louder so I just hung up on her waited 15-20 mins called again and thankfully got a tech who knew what he was doing listened to me and booted my router everything was good to go within 4 mins. Booooo... on that lady with a bad attitude!!!!

I pay for gigabit internet with 50 upload and for the past 2 months with 5-7 tech visits. They’ve replaced everything at my apartment and I even rented their own router because my upload speed is constantly going down to 5 with packet loss. They’ve replaced everything and done “maintenance” on their end and say that speeds will vary. VARY BY 80%?!?!?!?!? Can’t wait for fiber to come in to my town. I’m so sick of lies and excuses.

I was a happy Mediacom customer until they misled me and hid price increases in the fine print. I had been led to believe that my rate and speed were locked in for 2 years. However, they just doubled my rate one year into the contract. All the representatives could tell me was that the person who made that offer didnt have the authority to do so. I will be taking my business to CFU, for faster speeds and lower prices. I recommend you go straight to them, rather than wasting your time and money on Mediacom.Edit: I would like to respond to you, however you did not provide any contact information. I realize Im in the minority with this review, but stick with me. I originally called yesterday to cancel my internet service (my girlfriend and I are moving in together, and she transferred her service). I was told the department that accepts those calls was not currently taking them. The representative I talked to took my name and information and put in a ticket to have someone call me back, which I was assured would be within a couple of hours. Twenty-four hours went by and no call.I called back today and was put on the line with Bryan after maybe 30-second wait. I told Bryan what I wanted to do, he asked a couple of clarifying questions then put me on hold to put in my request. A minute later, he was back on, telling me all I had to do now was return the cable modem and I would be good. Great service and tone, thanked me for being a customer and that was it.Again, I know Im in the minority in the reviews. The only reason its not a 5-start was because I had to wait and got no response after my ticket was put in.

I literally have never had as many problems having cable internet then I have within the last 2 years of receiving Mediacoms service here in Waterloo. Ive had to have not two, not three, not four, not five, but six separate technicians to attend to my connection issues at my home. Ridiculous. I often times feel like I am just waiting for the next problem to pop up, and Im dreading for that moment to happen. I really wish we had some other options here in the cedar valley.

I would recommend to anyone that is considering to be a customer to evaluate how much time and energy they want to put into something, that they pay a monthly fee for. That can then provide so much anger and frustration, because of the hoops one has to jump through to find someone within their company, with the ability to solve the issue at hand. I just built a new construction home in a new area, many houses are already built in the neighborhood but because I am the first house on one side of the road, Mediacom needs to come out to install there ”Pedestals“ for internet and cable. The lines are already there. It took 6 months to build my house and I have already been living there for 2 months and the “Pedestals“ are still not done and I have been told it could be months before the have “time” to send a crew out there to do this. So your telling me in 8 months your so busy that this can’t be done!? Absolutely unacceptable.

First time ever writing a review, so you know this is bad. We had moved from Cedar Falls to Waterloo. We were absolutely spoiled by Cedar Falls Utilities during our time in CF. We found the perfect home in Waterloo, yet our ONLY hesitation about moving to Waterloo was that we would have to use Mediacom. Going from CFU to Mediacom is like going from Charmin Ultra Soft to using poison ivy to wipe. The internet connection is absolutely atrocious & the prices are just a slap to the consumer’s face. The company knows that there isn’t a competitor, so they can jack up the prices & laugh at those who pay it, including myself. A simple & consistent connection to a streaming service on a tv seems to be too much of a hassle for Mediacom to want or care about enough.

I dont usually have a problem with mediacom, other than the high prices for no reason, and the occasional outage which for me, has usually been a simple call away to fix. So when I call and have someone scheduled to come fix our internet when it goes out, and they dont show up, its very irritating! I call to find out what the deal is, and they claim since I didnt answer my phone call from the dispatch, they went ahead and cancelled my appointment all together. I was home all afternoon waiting for a knock at my door! They were scheduled to come between 3 and 5, i got one missed call from them at 4. I called back and got a recording to confirm my appointment. I confirmed and hung up. Still nobody bothered to show! Now I have to wait another 2 days, after I already waited 2 days for the original appointment. Very frustrating! Come to the door next time, whether you receive a call from me or not! You were scheduled for an appointment, so please show up!

Absolutely outrageous prices for the garbage we get in return. Cost more for Internet and there basic cable than it does to pay my gas electric and water combined. People are rude and dont care about doing a good job. I had to crawl into my crawl space with a broken leg to get a cable wire in my bedroom because the fat slob who was there to install my cable was too fat and lazy to do so. The person who installed my cable also left me with no power cord for my cable box and also left coax wire hanging and looped all over my rafters in my basement hanging down all over my dryer and fuse box. I see more pride out of McDonalds employees.

They basically have a monopoly on the area. If you want internet speeds over 10 mb youre stuck with them. They are more reliable than they used to be. Went from constantly interrupted service to infrequently over the past 3 years. Pricing is rough, but not as bad as it could be. Support has never been super helpful, but also never been rude to me, your experience may differ.

Terrible service. I have a bulk business account for my tenants. Mediacom keeps turning cable off because they are confused between residential and commercial billing. Ive been on the phone with them 7 times explaining what they should know. Long story short they are billing both me and my tenants and continuously turning the cable off. I cant describe how frustrating and incompetent these people are.

Overpriced! Service down NIGHTLY! They wont send someone when the problem happens. Equipment needs replaced inconveniently often. Tech service takes too many days to complete. This service is bad FOR our town and bad TO our town WE NEED A PUBLIC OPTION UTILITY FOR INTERNET AND CABLE. Their business internet options are overpriced and installation takes WEEKS.
