Great 18 hole course. Clubhouse and bar is ok. Air conditioning could be greatly improved in bar area. Staff are helpful ang very nice.
I wanted to give a shot at this golf course and I went, pulled up and was greeted by 3 employees. One of them grabbed my bag and put on the cart, the other one who had beautiful blond luscious hair opened my door and valeted my car and the third one asked me what I would like to drink. I played 18 amazing holes and wow what a beautiful and well maintained course.Great hospitality and even better course! 11/10 would definitely come back and the owner is so nice!
Great mom and pop operation with fun hole layout. I always enjoy playing here and enjoy talking with the nice young man In the clubhouse. Thereβs great space for hosting events and tournaments as well. Overall Red Carpet Golf is a must play shining jewel of East Waterloo!
Our golf outing for the Central High Baseball reunion was a big the success!
Was calling around to the different courses in Waterloo/Cedar falls area and was greeted poorly by this course. He wasnβt happy to talk to me about the course condition and the rates they charge. Never been to the course and probably wonβt going.
@CaleyCavanaugh.. Oh Caley, the contradictions are running wild. I appreciate the unneeded history lesson. The point about Porkys was to show that @DannyBudreau was not a regular at Red Carpet and was getting his information from the wrong people. To get on Google and post a review of a locally owned business with little to no information about the reality of the situation is what warranted my response. As for your confusing review, you bash the owner (who has owned successfully since 1976; before you were born) and then have the audacity to end the review with, I have always had good experiences! SO, which one is it Caley? Is Ed the grumpy stubborn owner who should let Todd (who by the way is not his son) run the business as he rides his golf cart into retirement? Or is Ed the owner who has provided those always good experiences for you? Im just confused. You are entitled to your opinion but lets not ruin someones business reputation for your own self-gratification.
@RobNelson.. Being from Waterloo my friends and I have always know it as Porkys or Red Carpet Golf. George Porky Lorenz established Red Carpet, so kinda shows your incompetence doesnt it. Besides everyone knows Ed is getting grumpy/too subborn and the course would be much better off if he let Todd run it and do the things he wants, like work with the golfers. Time to ride that golf cart into retirement Ed, or you will drive customers away from your sons business.I have always had good experiences but I also believe everyone one of the negative experiences listed.
The owner basically assured me why so many people quit coming back. He is not the guy who should be at the front desk, what a grump. Decent course, though.Unless youβre a regular there I wouldnβt recommend this establishment.
Enjoyable course in good condition with excellent greens. Wide open. Friendly staff
Management needs to spend a little money, shes a bit run down.
Was a nice course. Im guessing its been around for awhile judgine by the sign in the locker room. Friendly staff and good pace.
This course is nice. Friendly staff.
Have played this course many times the course is fine. The owner is a complete jerk, which if you look at other reviews you will certainly see what I am talking about. Called today to see if we could use our own cart like we use too and he had a complete meltdown. Told us how he has owned this course since 1976 and no one has ever used there own cart. Let me tell you he is full of you know what because we played out at red carpet or Porkys many times with our own carts. For a good five years we always brought our own cart so God knows where this guy was since 1976 but apparently not at work. Really wish he knew what he was talking about but obviously confused. Called several golf buddies and they said the same thing about the carts hopefully this owner can figure out what his own business is doing without being so rude. Owner apparently has a problem dealing with golfing clients so he must be making enough to treat people like dirt. Really disappointed in his attitude towards paying customers.
Red Carpet has an awesome venue for parties. Their staff is great to work with and are so friendly. I would highly recommend this place.
Awesome. Had a great game today.
Terrible customer service, had a group of six on a day when we were the only 6 on the course, not joking when I say there wasnβt a single golfer on the course besides us. Wouldnβt allow us to play together even though it was best shot. Owner said a group of 5 and 3 carts each playing an individual ball was ok, but not 6 with 3 carts playing best shot... owner is very rude, easy to see why the place is outdated when you treat customers like that, people donβt come back. Will never go again until new ownership, I recommend going to any other course in the area.
Average conditioned course, with beautiful hole layouts. Staff can be rude/lazy at times. Iβll save the details, but the websites rates/specials have gotten us a few times due to a bit of false/premature advertising. Learned to always call ahead of time. Overall, worth a visit if youβre in or near Waterloo. Just call ahead so you arenβt mistaken in pricing.
@DannyBudreau The fact that you called the course Porkys shows how incompetent and misinformed you are about Red Carpet Golf. The owner, who has indeed owned the course since 1976, has never allowed personal carts. You say he is mistaken, but could it be that you are actually the one who is mistaken? And I quote, God knows where this guy was since 1976 but apparently not at work. Anyone who is an avid golfer and paying customer at Red Carpet would laugh at your comment. SO before you go and comment on things that you are obviously confused about do a bit more research. It just seems a bit vindictive from another small business owner in the Cedar Valley. Its easy to hide behind a screen, but if you are going to have an opinion on something, it is better to have some facts to back it up.
Nice golf course with wide faiways.
Golfed here a few times. its a nice corse always a lot of people having a good time. Most of the time there is a ton of guys in the club house having a good time almost like a bachelor party every time your there.. guys that are out playing are great. They paid a lot of money to be there and have a good time doing it. I was there with my wife, we were certainly being respectful as we always do in a public place. Got to the 8th hole and the owner came out in a cart and said we were driving the cart to fast and hollering. We were not.. I just simply said I apologize if we were and he continued to say hes going to take the key for his cart and ask us to leave if we cant act right... her and I were almost shocked knowing that we had paid for 18 holes and a cart which costed 68 dollars then went to the bar and got a six pack of beer. At the end of all the madness we had paid close to 100 dollars.. then we were basically chaperoned by the owner in the back 9.. to recap we paid a small fortune for a baby sitter. Crazy experience that was well worth writing about. Will never be back
