Ive lived in this neighborhood for 6 years and walked past this place a billion times - and what a jewel I was missing.I stopped by on a whim with a friend at the end of the summer for a steak and salad, which immediately made me a repeat customer.More recently, a friend and I visited for indoor dining. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The potato soup is an excellent choice, as is the BIG SALAD. They only have the one kind of dressing, but its great.
We came to watch the soccer game. Made reservations. Unfortunately our table was in the room where the tv had several minutes delay from the other room. It was hooked up to a laptop. Live feed stopped regularly. They played the sound of the other room over speaker. Therefore, we had live sound and severely delayed picture.Food were mediocre. Service below average. One star for the only good thing: the caipirinha.
Delicious restaurant week! If you’re lactose intolerant like myself, have no fear, they have options for you. I highly recommend their Brazilian drink Caipirinha to start. For restaurant week I ordered a portobello mushroom appetizer( cogumelo com Siri), a beef, chicken and sausage dish served with roasted veggies, rice and beans (churrasco misto). I couldn’t have dessert due to my allergy but my boyfriend did the flan and Brazilian mousse!
One of my favorite Brazilian restaurants in the city. The food is always excellently prepared with love and the service in the restaurant is incredible. Be sure to order a caipirinha with whatever you order as I’m sure it’ll just make your experience even better.
From the moment you are greeted at the door, your experience at the Grill is terrific. The food is excellent and authentic; service is excellent and attentive. The ambiance is warm and fun. I love going to the Grill and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a memorable meal and evening.
We just had a spectacular meal here after stopping in at random. The food was beautifully prepared and delicious, the hospitality and service were wonderful, and the portion for generous and reasonably priced. Its the real deal for a Brazilian in Portuguese food!
I just enjoy their food. I always get awesome customer service here. The place is neat and the staff members are always kind. Will come back again.
A delightful Brazilian Style Steakhouse. Indoor dining. Masks are required except for when you are eating or drinking. 17 different types of meats carved to your liking, tableside. Be prepared to eat. You can stop the meat service at any time just by flipping over the card that they provide you with, if not servers will continue to bring cuts to your table which you can accept or refuse. Every thing was delicious. They accept cash and cards. Wheelchair accessible with a Kiosk parking lot across the street. An awesome place to celebrate or just make memories. Enjoy!
I had the mixed grill. It was pretty average and felt the meat was over cooked and dry. However our waiter was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Their cocktails are also very good!
The food is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend the bolinhos de bacalao and the brigadeiro!!!! The caipirinhas are also fairly cheap and expertly done. I cannot wait to come back.
The Grill from Ipanema is an outstanding Brazilian restaurant ! i was greeted warmly by the staff, the restaurant looks romantic and beautiful with great food options . I had a great time chatting with the bartender Costa who brought the food with smile beyond price. I recommend this place.
We were really excited to eat here based on the menu and reviews, but we we never go to order any food! We made reservations for 9pm for 2 and arrived on time. We were seated outdoors promptly and brought waters, but then no service at all after. We flagged down the hostess twice to ask if someone could take our order, but she wasn’t able to find any servers (?). She seemed overwhelmed. Eventually, we got up and left at 9:40 never having ordered anything (not even drinks). This might be in part because of the Brazil-Argentina game on tonight (7/10). There were many other hungry patrons outdoor without food so we weren’t the only ones. I’d still like to try the food sometime but it seems unreliable.
Had the dinner special, salad, pork chops and guava and cheese. Everything was excellent. The restaurant and staff could not have been more knowledgeable and professional. Cant wait to come back !!!!!
The highlight was the Calderadas de Frutas de Mer- a cross between paella and curry. It was rich, brothy, and creamy from the coconut milk. The spice powder that accompanied the rice (both aren’t pictured) added a nice citrus and garlicky kick. It was a dish like I’ve never seen before! I was dreaming about it for days afterwards.
First time in D.C. glad we stopped by to eat. Went out for a walk and found dinner. Do yourself a favor and eat here while your in town. Thank you for such Great service and meal 🤲🏾
Top of the line Brazilian cuisine. Excellent Caipirinha and awesome steak, good and efficient staff.
Excellent service and food! I recommend this place 100% also you will enjoy the environment with the beautiful back ground relaxing music. I think the service was more than good. Viva Brasil!! ❤️
I’ve walked past this unassuming place many times. Nothing fancy about this spot, just really good Brazilian food. The steak (contra file corcovado) is wonderful. For tapas, the yuca (mandioca frita linguica) with sausage and green sauce is excellent. We also grabbed the fried chicken croquette (coxinha de galinha), these were good but not my favorite. The Brazilian beer (Xinhu) iso excellent if you like dark beer. Only recommendation to the restaurant is it would be nice to have more variety of Brazilian beers to fully appreciate the great and unique style of brewing. Our waiter Grillo is from Brazil and was very helpful in making recommendations, very knowledgeable! Glad we stopped in, will be back again.
The food is excellent with many traditional Brazillian dishes to choose from. The staff were all very friendly and service was superb. The owner even came out to say hello and ask if everything was ok. The atmosphere was pleasant and the restaurant very nice and clean. Definately a new favorite place for us to eat!
Super friendly staff and great environment.Food tasted delicious and fresh .Just a bit tough to find a parking spot, but it’s DC - which is expected !
They have such amazing and authentic brazilian food
Family owned. Brazilian culture at its finest. Delicious Caipirinha cocktails and true authentic dishes. Raquel is always a gracious host. It a most if you are in the Adams Morgan Neighborhood.
The grill was my first visit to a Brazilian restaurant. There is a wide variety of pasta dishes among others. The menu is mostly in Spanish. Among the appetizers was an alligator dish. If you are someone who likes trying strange and unusual or exotic foods, then this is the place for you. I didnt quite like the alligator meat, but thanks to the accompanying sauce, I was able to keep it down. It is located on a busy street, frequented by revelers. Why not check it out when in DC. Good for events Celebration. The washrooms are okay.
The best Brazilian restaurant in the DC area.
Had Restaurant Week takeout dinner from here. It was delicious and very generously portioned. Our mixed seafood stew entrees were delicious. First courses and desserts also excellent.
We had four tapas dishes and all were superb, accompanied by a main feijoada dish which was also incredible. On top of that, we had the best caipirinhas weve ever had.
They are trying to cheat in the tip department. The bill already came with a 18% tip included.Mor or less food. Very pricey.
I love this place. I visited the first time in the mud 90s. I still go back to must and have dinner at least 4 times a year. I love Brazilian good, so its natural for me to go. Do not hesitate to visit them, you wont get disappointed. I strongly recommend this place.
Seemed a little chaotic at times. Fighting in the kitchen, served us the wrong order. But the food and drinks were good!
The first time we came it was fantastic, we came back on Valentines and it was not nearly as fantastic. Very sweet staff.
Do not be fooled by the look of the food. My steam did not come out how I asked. The rest of my party was not happy with thier food either. When we told the waitress that we did not like our food, she did not respond or say sorry, she just asked us if we wanted a box. We said no and then she had people come and take our plates away. When we asked for a a manager they told us the host was the manager, but when we asked the host she said she was not the manager. We asked another waiter who the host was and they pointed at the same lady. Eventually we got the resteraunt manager. He was nice and very apologetic, but everyone else gave us a sub par experience.
Best caipirinha in the DMV
If you want a taste of Brazil, this is the place to go. Sit at the bar, partake in Brazillin favorites such as Passaro Preto, and have a Caipiriniah cocktail, the best in DC!
I love this place! We were there last weekend and had brunch with a group of friends with kids. The restaurant is very family friendly and they were great serving the kids as well. The owner Raquel was very kind to keep my daughter busy so I could eat peacefully. The waitress was professional and spoke multiple languages. The food was delicious! We highly recommend moqueca de peixe and caipirinha!
Ordered the more traditional fish stews-- it was delicious. Great atmosphere and accommodating service. Other diners were primarily Brazilian-- which is how you know its good 😉
Food was wonderful, service was awful. If they fix that 👌
The best food, drinks and customer service ever! Authentic Brazilian food
Ordered takeout last night - it was delicious, to say the least! The staff is super friendly, and the food was ready in no time. Their menu has plenty of healthy and indulgent items to choose from and everything was great the next day, too!! Will definitely be ordering again and would highly recommend. Great option for when the same ol meat and potatoes get boring :)
We came to this spot for dinner. my friend recommended this spot. Well, it was a winning. The staff were very polite and we felt good. The food was just great. We loved this spot a lot and we shall absolutely come back again. Highly recommended.
My experience with Brazilian food was good. The flavors where meteocre. Not sure I would go back. 😕
I celebrated my PhD last night in this gorgeous place. Well we had a astonishing evening and the place was absolutely the reason for that strong evening. The team helped in a pleasant way, the cuisine was appetizing and my friends were so pleased. We shall absolutely come back again for more celebrations. thanks very much.
I like to go with friends to this place with my warmest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The the food there is yummy and the team is welcoming and cooperative. Whenever we go to this place we pass a gorgeous evening. highly recommended.
I love this place. The owners and staff are welcoming and the food is authentic and delicious. The picanha grelhada is outstanding and I also adore the feijoada. IMHO, no one does meat like Brazilians. They also fry garlic properly and arent afraid to use it.
I celebrated my PhD yesterday in this great place. happy to tell that we enjoyed a incredible evening and the place was clearly one of the reasons for that happy gathering. The team helped in a sweet style, the cuisine was tasty and my buddies were so glad. We shall absolutely visit again for more events. thanks very much.
The food is fantastic, Espically the mandioca with carne de sol and the mousse de maracuja. The staff is very friendly. The ambeince is very nice with the lights and the candles.
Delicious to the maximum. The waiters are knowledgeable and super nice. The outdoors space is spacious as well. A staple in Adams Morgan.
I celebrated my PhD in this restaurant, the veiws of the street were breathtaking. If you ever get your PhD this is a must for celebrating it. Also make sure to go onto this review page and let everyone know that you have a PhD before you start your review. The food was Immaculate! The team was supreme, the experience was a dream.
Delicious food and great service!
The food is amazing every time, but especially now during the quarentine. Thanks for staying open for takeout! Paella and stews are delicious and portions are very generous. Highly recommend!
I really wanted to love dinner at The Grill From Ipanema, but both my wife and I thought it was just so-so. She had the mixed grill which was pleasant, but nothing great. I had the mixed meat & beans national dish (sorry - I have no Portuguese and cant recall the name of the dish). I liked the ingredients and the portion was very generous, but it was very salty for my taste. We both had the passion fruit cane sugar liquor drink - I liked it but my wife didnt. Dessert and coffee was a bit disappointing as well. We shared the Brazilian cheesecake with guava sauce. Not bad, but nothing special. The ambiance is nice and we enjoyed talking to the wait staff.
While in D.C. for a conference, our greatest culinary escape was this Brazilian restaurant that’s been in business since 1992. And while every one of the 10 tapas our group ordered was good, the sausages and onions were yummy, as was the gator, the absolute best was the creamiest flan I’ve ever eaten (and I lived near Little Havana in Miami where flan is a basic food group). It’s made with eggs, not gelatin, the chef boasts, and maybe that’s the secret. Try it.
I go with my wife to this place often! This is the best place to dine. I visit this spot regularly. The food is of high quality, the staff is friendly and the prices are decent. I like being in this spot over a tasty lunch.
Very friendly staff We tried steak but was not as good as expected will try it again with other menu options as many people told me about this place as authentic Brazilian place
Excellent restaurant. Food was delicious and at a great value. Definitely worth multiple visits. Staff friendly and caring. I had the picanha steak with collard greens. Cooked as ordered. Great ambiance as well.
The food is very good. But, the price it’s not fair. You can buy items individually. But, the price for each, in the end would be more than you would pay in a bbq chain like fogo de chão or Texas de Brazil. Other thing was not okay is that they charge 18% as gratitude. Then have the taxes and the price of the food as normal. And expect to add more tip, even after 18% already addedIn a bill was almost $200 was almost $40 dollars gratitude and they expect to add more tip. The price goes insane!
My family of five came for restaurant week and we loved every bite! The staff was so helpful and kind and made us feel at home. The picanha was delicious, the salmon, the mixed grill, every bite was delicious. I’ve wanted to try this place for years and now it will be a favorite for me! Thanks so much!
This place was pretty great. The portions here are great for sharing. The menu is large and a bit intimidating but the staff are friendly and great with recommendations. There are some tasty cocktails too. Overall it was a great time.
The service was fantastic and the food and drinks were generally delicious. That said, 3/5 of our table ordered steak, and all 3 came out cooked correctly but near room temperature, like they were cooked and sat on a cold plate for 15 mins. The restaurant warmed them and gave us dessert as an apology but that kind of error is egregious enough that I cant recommend the restaurant and wont be going back.
Fantastic restaurant!Food was spectacular and although it may seem pricey, its absolutely worth every penny. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu and the vibe is super chill. The bartender Grillo was great, super cool guy to talk to and on top of everything. He was always attentive and making sure we had everything we needed, not only a great server and bartender but a great guy as well. Will definitely be going again!
Great food and great pricing!! Atmosphere is very classy and inviting! Definitely will return when I’m in the area again!!
This spot is great! Fair pricing, large portions and the staff members are consistently very kind.
This food was amazing, the customer service is incredible, and the prices are very very reasonable! We couldn’t be happier with our experience here! So glad we found this gem!!
The food here is exceptional and the servers and owners are very attentive. Two of us shared the paella and a tapas order of grilled shrimp. I fell in love with Portuguese cusine while is Lisbon about 30 years ago. Small family run restaurants along winding city streets with breathtaking views of the Atlantic. Ipanema is like a page from these memories. As good or better!!
Long time institution in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Ive been coming here for years, and have never been disappointed. Be sure to ask your server for suggestions on potential dishes. I personally like their Seafood stews, which have lots of flavor and never fail to satisfy. Recent additions to the restaurant have added a lot of seating, making this a good choice even for larger groups.
The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was cozy. The food was delicious, very authentic, and true to taste! Would definitely return!
5-starts are not enough to give this place. The best authentic Brazilian food I have eaten in the USA. Food was tasty and fresh. Customer service was awesome as well. Highly recommend this place!
The place is nice, the attention its very good, the drink and the food really good.
As always, I like to write a food review after going to a place twice. Im ready to go back for a third time. Ive had the Paella and some type of white fish with red stew (cant remember the name) but they were both amazing. The atmosphere of this place is awesome and looks very authentic. Best of all is that the service is top notch and extremely helpful with their extensive menu. Also this place wins the award for best restaurant name in DC.
The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the staff - all amazing. It brought me back to my childhood. 10/10, will definitely be back.
Would absolutely recommend trying this spot. Fantastic atmosphere, tasty dishes, great service. 5 stars.
Excellent for take out during Shelter in Place. All fresh, warm, muito bom!
Excellent, authentic food!
Still great after all these years....
This place is great for large groups and birthdays. My family had a table for 20(yes you read that correctly we had TWENTY PEOPLE).This restaurant:1. took our large reservation and gave us a follow up confirmation call for our reservation 2 hours before our reservation the day of2. had AWESOME customer service: very polite and answered all of our questions, helped us with menu choices3. has a wonderful atmosphere: they play wonderful music in the back ground, the lights at slightly dim and they have a lit tree of paradise (has little white lights on it), white table linen, beautiful decor and cultural paintings, clean silverware and glassware, clean restrooms, clean and clear floors4. has wonderful and flavorful food: wonderful menu options-seafood, meats, EVEN NON-MEAT OPTIONS ....the food is moist and flavorful, the menu has beautiful descriptions of the food5. the prices are budget friendly: there is something for everyones budget(small to big) on this menu6. for birthdays they sing happy birthday to you and bring out a dessert***please know that its hard to find parking in this area. There is a parking garage around the corner from the restaurant or you can find street parking, but space is tight and it is a busy surrounding area***THIS RESTAURANT IS DEFINITELY WORTH GOING TO!
DELICIOUS food. Great service. Good atmosphere. I thought it was going to be like those endless meat serving places, but its just individual dishes. Authentic Brazilian, really delicious!
The food is SPECTACULAR - truly Brazilian. HIGHLY recommend the linguiza and the stake. Music tops the notch as well as the service in this place. Amazing!!!!
This place is my favorite place. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to this restaurant. everytime I want to go to a proper lunchon, this restaurant comes straightaway to my head. best and all sorts of food and a rich menu.courteous crew, and nice mood. And very important, the tariff is affordable. I suggest this restaurant with great pleasure.
Authentic typical Brazilian food well prepared and very tasty! Service was impeccable and the place has a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!
The place is nice and spacious, the menu was enchanting and the rates were very inexpensive. quickly, productive service and very attentive staff members. I highly recommend this place.
I was here last week for a happy hour with my coworkers. Daisy was our server and she was very friendly and helpful with her suggestions. The music was excellent and I would definitely recommend this place! I am going back for sure!
Very tasty Brazilian Style food. Nice people. Cozy place. Difficult to find parking near.
