In the middle of September, I suddenly, in a weeks time, had my husband and daughter succumb to the Covid virus and both passed away on the same day. A couple a days before that, I realized things were probably going to end for both of them really soon! Besides the shock and much sadness about the possibility they would die, I knew I had to arrange, not one, but 2 funerals!We had not attended to end of life issues very well. I really needed help from a reliable funeral service to help me in my particular situation, and quick! I called Joe Paul and asked him what he could do for me. He said lets sit down, Ill help you any way I can.From that minute he and his staff, Amy, Fletcher, Jay, and Josh never let me worry about anything I asked them about. The guidance I got from Joe was the easiest thing, even though, I felt like I was certainly going to frustrate them the way I wanted things to be right for my 2 family members. That was so important to me! I wanted them honored at the end of their life. Joe guided me every step by first, telling me the options I could choose. By him talking so personally with me about his own experiences and me to him about mine, I was able to choose the best way for us. I am at much peace about how it ended on the day of our private family memorial.I think I called about something everyday, either, to ask them to change something or add to the obituary, or add more photos to the tributes. Fletcher is a professional in that! Amy, Jay and Josh were so patient with adding and changing things and they made sure I was happy with the written obituaries.I trusted Josh and Jay, also, to pick up my loved ones, once I got to knowthem. That really mattered to me! I think they respect everyone when doing their jobs.I know Ive left something out, but, they did so many things for me and very professionally, even, at my home during the memorial, they were there to assist anyway we needed. To me, they all went above and beyond their job. I recommend them to anyone when needing funeral services! Thank you all!

Joe Paul and everyone that we had dealings with treated us very well. From the time the doors were opened for us we received all of help that we needed. My son passed away a week ago and he was only 2 years old, and I couldnt have had a better funeral or services they truly made it special and better than I could of ever hoped for. We made pre-arrangements in early 2000s with Hillside Funeral Services. Due to the length of the time it had been, we wanted to follow up and make sure all of our service information was in order..me and my husband came in to meet with Joe Paul; he introduced his staff. Josh Paul and Amy Parker were able to sit in and were very helpful locating information and paperwork that was previously missing, and had never received in the past and told us some truths that had previously not been told to us, cleared up some of that fine print you always hear about. We are thankful for their help and we able to leave knowing we had been taken care of by somewhat caring and competent, and someone you could put your trust in. Thanks so much.

I cant recommend Joseph B. Paul Jr.s services enough. I must apologize in advance for the length of my review but I want people to understand just how much Mr. Paul helped us to not only prepare for the loss but how to get through the loss of my father in law and how the process would work.My father in law came home on hospice. We knew that he would pass rather quickly being dialysis was being discontinued. Trying to prepare and have things lined up for when he left us, I called several of the bigger named funeral homes from Williamston, Washington and even Greenville and every call left me more in a state of shock than Id like to admit. Every call felt automated. It was as if I were trying to call and order something to eat from somewhere Id never been and asked what was on the menu which resulted in quick almost robotic responses throwing information at me faster than I could absorb it. There was honest to God no compassion or true patience shown, it felt more like I had interrupted their day by calling.I was just about to give in and tell my husband that we would use the funeral home that took care of my mother after her passing when I decided to call one last place. The last place I called was Mr. Joseph B. Pauls Funeral Service and it was the best decision I could have made. Mr. Paul spent 45 minutes to an hour on the phone with me if not longer, not rushing the call at all. He was the first and only one to ask me about the kind of person my father in law was, he asked about how my family was dealing with knowing we were going to lose him and especially about how my husband was doing with it. Mr. Paul cared and he still cares.Without drawing this review out too much, Ill say that there were hiccups in the process for us due to incompetency on the hospices part. Mr. Paul bent over backwards for us, having to work around the hospices failure so that we could finally cremate my father in law. We finally got a death certificate a full month and 3 days after the death (typical time is 2 weeks) due to the failures of the hospice company. To my understanding, Mr. Paul himself picked the finally completed paperwork up, hand delivered it to the health department so they could do their part then took it himself over to the courthouse for it to be filed.Mr. Paul went truly above and beyond to take care of my father in law and us. I dont know if he realizes that he was the only shining light for our family in a dark time.-- The Oakley Family

Our mama passed away on Nov.1st, 2020 on a Sunday evening. When I contacted Joe Paul we were seen that afternoon on Monday. He explained his services, how we could choose what we wanted or leave out anything that we didn’t want or need. The staff that we met were very kind and professional. Every time I stepped inside the building I was called by my first name and not treated like a stranger. Each time I was asked if everything was okay and if there was anything else we needed. Amy did a fantastic job with mama’s hair and nails and natural appearance and even dressed her in her favorite lime green fuzzy socks. My 4 year old granddaughter was there and wanted to see her great grandma but had questions about her feet. Where were they? Joe came in and with help took off the casket spray so she could see great grandmamas feet and my granddaughter was assured she was “all there”. Her graveside service was perfect just as was explained to us and exactly what we wanted. I was given guidance as to my next steps in the coming days and if I needed anything to just call. Mr. Paul did a fantastic job with my ex-husbands funeral arrangements he went above and beyond the Call of Duty to make sure everything was in place. I highly recommend his services to all who need it hes very professional, compassionate and caring. God bless him and his team on a wonderful job they did.There is just one thing waiting on the ashes to be sent to me after all services were paid,was promised in march and still waiting,its beyond a reasonable time and he had not gotten back to me as why i didnt get the remains.

The staff at Washington Funeral & Cremation Hillside Chapel did a great job assisting the family of my wifes Aunt who passed away recently. They responded very quick when the call went out to them. Christie Gray was actually off and out of town but changed her plans to return and assist this family. This staff has made a lot of positive changes in the Funeral home.

I was happy with the handling of my uncle, after passing; and the funeral service, but the question is why did I call the monument supplier Mr. Paul said he used & there was no record of my uncles headstone ever being in the system.Its been 8 months, and Ive heard excuse after excuse, and my Uncle still has no headstone.He probably wont, if I have to wait for certain people, but thats alright.Itll come back.

He gave us a chance to say our goodbyes to Gene Mourglea. He helped with the cremation Service and getting Gene back to me. I have contacted Mr. Paul once a week for the past 5 weeks to tell him I have not received my mothers death certificate. Each time I speak to him he has a different excuse as to why I havent received it. I will call him one more time in an attempt to get the certificate.
