I have been both a client and a mentor. I began mentoring 5 years ago after retiring from medical practice. The DC SCORE chapter provides free one on one mentoring to small business and the mentors are some very knowledgeable individuals who come from all aspects of the business world.Additionally, when I was helping my son establish his business we consulted one of my colleagues in our DC SCORE chapter and received prompt actionable advise.Best of all it’s FREE………..try it you will like it…..
As a certified SCORE Mentor, I share my experiences and expertise with many entrepreneurs ... whether they are starting, expanding or exiting their business. Im not alone. Our SCORE team consists of 9,000+ practicing mentors. With that resource available, in my 6 years of mentoring, I believe that I have been able to help all of my clients.
Ive been a mentor for SCORE at at the Washington DC chapter for the past year and a half, and the experience has been more than rewarding. My job is to help individuals apply due diligence to their business ideas so they have a much better chance of success, or they may decide they are not ready for the risks and challenges of starting a new business. Either way, SCORE is helping guide our clients to an informed decision.
Being a SCORE mentor is the best way to stay young. I have been a SCORE volunteer for 15 years and am so glad that I joined. The volunteers in the DC chapter are amazing, helpful & excited to help small businesses. For me it has been & is a life long learning experience.
Mentoring with SCORE has been an extremely rewarding experience for me. Im able to use my experience founding, growing, and selling a business to help others successfully navigate their entrepreneurial journey.
A great group of dedicated individuals focused on helping others and their businesses succeed.
SCORE has always been a great resource for me. I have worked with many mentors and each provide a unique experience and great feedback that assists me with growing my business. Recently, I worked with Karen and Gene (both from the Southern Maryland Chapter) and they were very helpful in preparing for the Black Entrepreneurs Pitch Challenge. Keep up the great work SCORE, SBA, SBDC, AAEDC, AAWDC, and the list goes on.
When I wanted to sell my marketing and graphic design business, I had a SCORE mentor that provided me the financial analysis that helped me project the earnout potential of the transaction if I stayed five years with the company I was selling to. Having personally benefited from SCORE, I am now a volunteer mentor!
The training was detailed and informative
