Unfortunately, I havent had a good experience with this organization. I started a process with them three months ago I havent heard from them about my application. Im very disappointed about them
The Latino Economic Development Center sets the standard for Community Based Organizations in Washington, D.C. LEDC facilitates a consistent schedule of useful workshops and creates spaces where individuals can feel safe to bring their questions and get the help they need. Personally, LEDC helped me purchase my first home, receive credit counseling all while providing a personal touch of professionalism and support. They are an invaluable resource to the residents of Washington, D.C. I cannot say enough about their staff! Even during the pandemic, LEDCs housing manager Angelica Rufino made sure to set virtual appointments to keep me on track for my home purchase and I could not be more grateful. While preparing to purchase a home can be an extremely difficult and wearisome process, LEDC takes the care to keep you informed and support you through it with advice, up-to-date information and the kind of follow-up that helps you to achieve your goals.
I cant say enough great things about Omar and L.E.D.C.! They have helped me so much with their business coaching. From my revised logo (Thanks to Omars great coaching and technical skills!) to helping me develop the infrastructure for success and everything in between, I have grown in confidence. If you have ever thought about having your own business, they can turn that dream into reality!
LEDC Has been able to help a starting business. You can go to your bank or to any other loan shark. But you won’t be able to present them how you’re able to make a successful business and run it with tenacity. They true way of lending is not found in banks these days. They really care on how you will execute it. And if you’re really starting out, they have classes and courses and much more to assist you in your success. A wonderful way to climb success with guidance.
Love this organization, they are helpful and informative. The staff helped me through many processes from my credit to my business they have helpped and supported me. I grateful for all their hard work and dedication to our community. I still attend there new trainings and look forward to other workshops. I encourage others to take their attend trainings.Thank you all. God bless you!
I was born and raised in DC and have watched our city change rapidly within the last 20 years. Whomever did not purchase property when prices were low, blinked and the opportunity to many, feels extinct. As a real estate agent and personal recipient of DCs first time homebuyer program called hpap, it is a relief to find an organization like LEDC because they have the affordable housing hookups. I refer to them, my personal friends and clients who want to purchase a property or start a business. LEDC goes out of their way to ensure each individual helped feels respected, understood and leaves with the aptitude to buy a property. As a realtor, I have single handedly represented over 80 households who are now homeowners that purchased with less than $2k down and pay less than $1300 a month in mortgage. Aside from them knowing where to find free money for a down payment, they also get a heads up on brand new affordable dwelling units(ADU) before it even hits the market. These properties are coveted by potential buyers because each one sells for less than its worth. Soon as a real estate agent like myself gets intel of a property like that, we move in warp speed to get our buyers qualified as it is a race to the finish line. I rely heavily on LEDC to help my clients with that paperwork, which to many can be a lot of hassle but is sooooo worth it. Here is an example: I have 4 different clients who went to LEDC for help and purchased into the City Vista Building on 5th and K NW. They each bought for less than $200k and their units today are worth over $500k. I also like how LEDC does not charge for their services. They are a non profit who rely on grants and private donations. At first I thought they specialized in serving just latino groups since their name is Latino Economic Development Center but that is not the case. When walking in there one would think they just entered the United Nations :-) I am happy to recommend them.
Great experience very helpful and knowledgeable ❤️
A wonderful staff! Very helpful throughout the HPAP process. Incredibly organized and just lovely to work with. I highly recommend working with this organization is possible!
LEDC offers some of the most valuable workshops, classes and information sessions in all of DC on starting small businesses, particularly with a focus on food businesses, which is especially useful for those who have not had prior experience in the field. Thank you for the great work you do in our community!

I am a small business owner and just as I was about to launch, my financing fell through. I came to LEDC to get a loan and was referred to Omar Velasco, the Program Manager for Small Business Development. Mr. Velasco was quick to respond to my email request for a meeting and dedicated a whole two hours to perform an analysis of my business plan and goals, and producing a detailed budget, including financial projections, sales forecast, and cash flow. I now have a better picture of what my operating expenses are and what target goals to set for success.Mr. Velasco’s work is impressive and I, for one, am extremely grateful to him and to the LEDC. I highly recommend him.
Yesenia, Maria & their team of experts were amazing while assisting our customers through the Down Payment Assistance Program for First Time Home Buyers. They are a group of professionals that know what they are doing. We are bless to have them assisting our community.

Good evening Karina, it was our pleasure meeting with you and all of the other LEDC family. Everything was very informative from our first session of How to start a Small Business hosted by Karina Mendoza you, to 10 Finance Tips for Small Food Business hosted by Manny Cosme, to Retailer’s Perspective: Managing to the balance sheet with Phillip Sambol and Introduction to Commercial kitchens with Jordan Estes this is invaluable knowledge especially for someone just starting a new business in the District of Columbia. Thank you all for the wonderful work that you all do!Loye and Isaiah HawkinsSmoken Lo BBQ

In December of 2016 we applied for small business loan for a small milestone in our business. After not hearing a response to the status of our loan one of our business relations partners reached out to get an update to the status of our loan.We were informwd by email that our documents could not be found and we needed to resubmit. Later we were informed to the fact that they were located and not to seek legal counsel or fill a BBB Complaint about the mishandled loan.we have been in business for 10 years and have borrowed before, but they have no record of our previous paid in full loan.It was also stated due to our downtime in 2014 although we were in training by a major meat producer that that hurts our image..I stated that saveral successfully ran companies have done this to reshape or rebrand there business. It was later also states that the amount of the loan we were requesting was high $3,900.00 and how was qe going to pay it back..Mind yiyqe were in operations all of 2016 and they have our financials and of course we have supplemental income that superceded the pYback amount $83.00. Then we are asked to provide contects for future events and lastly they asked could they pull our credit report which should have been done in DECEMBER..I would not recommend any business new or successful to seek out support from LEDCSeveral small business resources have stated their handling of our file stfled our business and they are supposed to be an asset to small businesses in the District of Columbia..
They dont answer the phone! And they dont return phone calls!
Good experience with other professionals here within the last 4-5 years consecutively.
Passionate team that do great work!
My friend and I went to this place to get information on some home owners programs and the man that was in charge treated us as if we were bums off the street. He personally walked us out to the elevator to make sure we left. I would never go to that place again!
