I don’t understand they spent months building a dog park and no one take their dogs to the park to use it. Instead you have to watch your step before walking outside. They could have built that for kids but I guess animals are more important
The rent keep going up…their barely in the office takes forever with Maintence to fix my tub left a falling pipe on my window for weeks
Scheduled a same day tour, waited 20+ minutes outside and the leasing office was “closed” . Called numerous of times, they did not answer . Leasing company should be embarrassed. If the company treats future residents as such I can only imagine how they treat they actual residents. Yikes 😬
I called and applied for a 1 bedroom apartment up there back in 2020 and I didnt hear nothing back from them at all they didnt email or call me to let me know if there was one available Ill never apply here again
I moved in my new apartment in November since day one I’ve received noise complaints before I even plugged my tv up. The apartment above me has parties every other night. I leave home for work at 3am and get back home around 5pm. On my work days I get calls about noise while I’m not home I stay alone. I received a letter saying it was my third and final warning after going to the office showing video proof that at I wasn’t the one making noise. Then I was told I owed $50 when I pay rent next time for noise violations that I did not commit. Instead of investigating the noise they told me I will be evicted soon. I pay my rent on time every month and feel as if I’m being harassed every time I come home from work to a note on my door.
I’ve been emailing and calling for the last few days asking about my refund I did 2 applications and was told I would receive $250 back within 1-2 weeks and I have yet to receive anything and they will not email me back
So far so good. Maintenance is very timely. Leasing staff is helpful. The community here is nice and quiet for the most part. During the pandemic the management team were flexible and understanding.
I moved in like a year again I hate the place. The heat is to high and when I go to sleep I am more around cant go sleep because its so hot, then my rent went up to 1,000 dollars. Also I have loud people upstairs on top of me and There so loud. And I cant get the fact that I can hear everything I have or baby and one son. My son complaint and I get why he do.
I paid the 150$ for application process which was 50$ for the application fee and 100$ to hold the unit but I was denied the opportunity for an apartment but I knew I was going to lose the 50$ but apparently management or the company that owns the property wants to keep my $100 as well
This apartment complex calls for a $150 for your application and then they say they Ill get back to you with a response within 24 hours and they dont get back to after 2 weeks of not hearing back from them and after numerous messages and emails left trying to find out if we were accepted or not I have to take a dam day off work and I show up at the office only to be told after they look it up that we were and Not accepted! So, now were 2 weeks behind in our relocation and we only have 2 weeks left to try and obtain a safe place!
Every time I walk past this complex or even through the parking lot sometimes, there is a woman wearing a Beztak shirt that slows her car down and stares at me. She has asked me where I live before and what my address was. She has asked me my name. She slows down every time and she does not tell me what she wants. I have taken pictures of her car and license plate and I will take video and report to police the next time this happens. She has blonde hair, gauged ears I believe. She drives a black sedan with some white flowers hanging from the rear view mirror. Extremely unprofessional behavior around your complex.
Came in and toured Hoover square I was supposed to be moving closer to my job but my job had other plans I happened to come in on the first week of work for a beautiful spirit named Monique she was so helpful and kind. After the tour she went over pricing but I got a call my job was transferring my team to Columbus. If I would have stayed in Michigan I would have wanted to be at Hoover square apartments. Monique is a gem
This has been the best experience Ive ever had. Gwen is the most professional and helpful landlord I have ever encountered. There isnt enough credit given to such a woman who does an excellent job in her profession. If Gwen ever leaves Hoover Square, Ill be sure to follow. She made my first apartment an amazing experience.
Gwen was my landlord even in a difficult situation she came out on a sunday for me most landlords dont care well she does she understands a positive out of any negative she helped so much with my moving process into another apartment i cant thank her enough for everything she has done to make sure none of her tenants are discouraged and as long as you pay your rent on time keep it honest and DRAMA FREE this is a place I recommend even if your score dont meet requirements she goes above and beyond to make sure you safe and comfortable at Hoover square😍😘👌
I moved in 4 months ago, with 2 kids, and we like it. Gwen and Jordan were very helpful and efficient. I expected the heat to be off in late spring, just as with any apt that provides heat. You cold in May? Get a blanket...no problem. Upon move in, apt and carpet were clean. Any repairs needed are addressed within 1-2 days. I havent seen any of the negativity from the other reviews. Only problem is though its advertised, the pool wont be opening. Other then that, love the staff, the location and the diversity of the local school.Update: A new company has taken over and now allows animals. There is dog feces everywhere. Yet O keep being told that it is a violation of the lease to not pick up after your dog. Its not a rule being enforced. My children cant even go out to play because of all the poop. I continue to complain but nothing changes and no one cleans it up.
Lived there from Feb 15 to Mar 16 & basically hated the entire experience. I was about six months pregnant when I moved in. Had my daughter eight weeks early, when I was finally able to take her home in April I had to go to my moms instead because it was below 50 degrees in my apartment, no place for a premature baby. The free heat seems like a good deal until they cut it off because its technically spring. But that means nothing in Michigan because it can still feel like winter. The pool is there for no reason because it hasnt been open in years. Did not get the apartment they showed me. Instead I received a run down apartment that had more problems then I can remember. The floors creaked terribly even when I tried to tip toe through out the place. Loud noisy neighbors that I filled numerous noise complaints about with video which nothing happened. Should of refused to pay rent. Then wanted to increase rent by 20%. The complex isnt fenced so expect to see random people just walking around all the time. Seen the same homeless person digging through the dumpsters outside at least six different times. The following winter of 16 they failed to shovel the little porch & walkway of the apartment & I fell with my daughter, lucky she was in her car seat & the car seat landed in my lap. I should have sued but I was just happy to get out of that place.
Entire complex was updated a few years ago. New windows, doors, updated security, newly repaved parking lots. Modern amenities as well.
I currently live here, and I have a few issues. My biggest one is why is that half the time the office isnt open? Why dont you guys answer the phone, or return calls? Why dont we have a better laundry area????? Why is the rent going up??????? I feel like there shouldnt be a increase in anything being on the overall condition of the apartment building. I left messages to speak to a manager but you guys never got back with me, and when I go in and ask is there a manager, there always isnt one. We dont even have the pool amenity that was advertised when I first moved there. I pay my rent on time every month with ko problem, there should always be someone available in the leasing office to assist with tenants or future tenants. I had a package that was supposed to be delivered; but since there was no one on the office my package was delayed which is very inconvenient. Ik we arent living in Bloomfield hills but come on now 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
I’ve been living here only 8months & have had all the worst experiences! The 1st 4 months i moved in I had no heat & I kept asking would my rent be discounted & still nothing was taken off my bill. I couldn’t receive mail Until February even though I moved in September because someone kept putting a vacancy letter in my mailbox even though I would take it out. No one is ever on the office or answers the phone. I hate living here, can’t wait to my lease is up!
Im giving a 5 star review because the maintenance supervisor is so helpful. Ive been at other places where maintenance was average, but she always seems to be on top of whats going on. Best maintenance Ive ever come across.
I VISITED A FRIEND WHO JUST MOVED IN * I REALLY LIKED WHAT I SAW - THEY HAVE MADE A LOT OF NICE IMPROVEMENTS SINCE THE LAST TIME I VISITED ANY ONE THERE * I SAW A LOT OF REALLY NICE THINGS THAT THEY HAVE DONE THERE *
Gwen is the absolute best property manager ive ever had, she cares so much about all her tenants. Its been a great first year living here thanks to her.
I have been a resident of Hoover Square Apartments for over 8 years. It is a great place to live. The maintenance staff are great.
A serious dump. The exterior might look fine (its actually decently kept) but its infested with ghetto knuckle draggers smoking pot walking around aimlessly during a weekday up to no goodDo yourself a favor and find another.
Very unprofessional. I never got an apartment. They tried to go up on my rent after I was given a price. And Im still waiting on my refund and keep getting the run around. Ill would never refer these people. They dont even deserve a one. How do they not communicate with each other? After reading other reviews its good I didnt get to move. I guess I will have to get an attorney to get my money back.
The office staff were all very nice and worked with me along the process of my application and move in. My unit looked great when I moved in. All new black appliances in the kitchen as well.
Very run down apartments. Please before you put out $45 for app fee look at the apartments. Manager was nice but went 3 times never was able to see apartment. Today went to finally look at one and the kid that showed it was very rude and unprofessional and unknowledgeable about the apartments . He told me i wont find a place better then this for the price. He thought a phone outlet was cable . Very unsatisfactory wish i could give a quarter star. And would like a refund feel like i was robbed out of $45.
Beware of Free Heat. There are at least two buildings that are currently(11/11/2018) without heat and have not had heat this year. Management has not provided any written notification as to why. The current temperature is 40 degree. If you REALLY must move in ask upfront what month does the Free Heat come on. Ask if the radiators in the apartment work. Ask if you will be compensated for your electricity used for space heaters and plastic to seal the windows and your medical bill if you get sick if the boiler just happens to break. Recommendation -Visit the building and talk to residents of a least 3 of the building to get first hand information about the property. Organize the people in your building and do a group letter if the boiler just happens to break.
I have stayed there for 2 years. When I went in the apartment everything was okay. But as soon as I signed the lease their behaviour changed along with their maintenance.● The heat is never adjustable its always above 85 in the winter.● It always takes long wait until they clean the snow.● The apartments water boiler has never been changed which gives red rusty water. They dont seem to bothered about it because the water is free for tenants.● They seek into apartments to see if the apartment keys are being changed. Most disgusting thing is when we found mold in the kitchen cabinets.● We have been complaining about MOLD which was forming in the tub sink and toilet but got no response from the managment. We even wrote letters to them.● The exhaust air fans never seems to pull the air.● If they cant help you with any maintenance issue they will always say they processes it to their corporate and they cant do anything about it until corporate acts on it.They always put corporate an excuse no matter what. There has been many unfortunate events in this community for what reason its really not environmental friendly.I would recommend everyone PLEASE READ THE LEASE AGREEMENT POLICIES BEFORE YOU SIGN ON IT!! they will rush you and tell you some of the policy and take you signature so you wont see their dirty tricks. Its really shocking how they treat their tenants. But they might forgot that tenants are the only clients who needs to get served and the reason why they are working here. All of the management people stays in this apartment themselves maybe with less price or no price thatswhy they wont ever like it when you put a complaint against the apartment.
Very unprofessional.. I was very uncomfortable living here.. maintenance entering my home without permission. Loud noises. Someone broke into my car in the parking lot. Its not worth it.
My daughter moved into this apartment in 2017 and cant wait until the lease is up. During the cold months of 2017 (Oct 2017 - December 2017) she did not have HEAT. To date, November 2018, there is still NO HEAT in her building nor the building that is attached. No formal communication has been given as to when the boiler will be fixed. Many tenants have been given electric small heater that dont work. There electric bill has increased due to the use of electric devices including the oven to heat the apartment. Use of these devices can cause risk of fires or injuries. Fox 2 News has been contacted. and the tenants are coming together and will picket if the issue is not address. The one star is for the office staff
These apartments will tell you all you have to do is make 3 times the amount and have no evictions, but then deny you and say your credit caused you not to be approved. Then they lie and say the cheaper apartment is taken and make you try and get a more expensive one, but when you call and act like a new person acquiring about the same property its available. They are taking peoples application fees and denying them on purpose. They are liars and bad business dont rent from these scam artists!!!!
My experience Made want to get a apartment from Hoover square because the manager was so helpful I would recommend anyone to go see Gwen Mitchell or Jordan both very helpful
Someone broke into my car yesterday stole everything out called the office for them to tell me they do not care and file with my insurance company why do i pay 819 for a 1 bedroom and i dont feel safe there was no empathy please stay away they break into cars
The agent (Kiara) that helped me and did my tour was great. My issue is now that Ive moved in, the free heat that is advertised is nonexistent. Basically you cant turn on heat during summer months, so if youre anemic, youre just SOL. The book in the leasing office advertises a pool (which I was told wont be opening at all, this summer, but I wasnt told that before I applied and secured my unit) and an intercom system (which Im assuming doesnt work, as I dont have a speaker or buzzer in my unit). Sunday, my water wouldnt get hot. I called today and was told that the boiler was being fixed and should be fixed by Wednesday. Why not put notices on peoples doors? The unit, itself, is spacious, though it doesnt look like much effort was put into prepping it for new tenants. All in all, given that all the amenities advertised arent available, its not worth the rent being charged.
All star maintenance team, quality office staff.
If you have a little baby dont live here, especially on the lower level. The floors are worn down so you can hear everything your neighbors do. Noise complaints will not work so dont waste your time. The boiler makes so much noise because the building is old and it will keep you awake with the constant noise it makes. Plus Warren police are so terrible if you do contact them about neighbor disputes theyll just harass you the remainder of the day. Also they will turn off the heat and have you cold with a baby, I went threw the same thing as the previous complaint when my son was a newborn in March 2017.
This place is a hit or miss. I stayed here from Feb2014 to Feb2017. My 1st 2years were good. I stayed in a building with all older tenants so my building was nice & quiet & clean mostly. My last 6months were the breaking point for me & the ultimate decision on my NOT renewing my lease. First of all, the buildings are so close together, so anything going on in yhe next building u can hear. I had neighbors in the next building who fought, yelled, argued, & smoked weed on the daily basis. They moved shortly after, lease waa up I suppose. Then the end all be all was a tenant who stayed downstairs from me. He was an old man who got drunk FREQUENTLY & would knock on everyones door asking for money or a beer. His apartment REEKED of piss that you could smell from the steps. He would knock on my door all times of day & night. I worked midnights at the time so imagine how irritated I was...especially after complaining NUMEROUS times. Only to b told that since he was a veteran, they couldnt just throw him out. But he can disturb me & eveyone else in the building who pays rent just like he does? Then night before Christmas Eve, I come home aftrr being gone for maybe an hour at the most, the old guy has called 911 for a medical emergency & gives them my apt number. They break down my apt door only to find no one was home & that they were given the wrong apt number..tht the old man downstairs(whom they knew by first name) had called. So I had no doorknob, jist a hole, tht the maintenance lady put some metal cover over to conceal the hole. How about, the door stayed like that all the way up until I moved out. They claimed to b ordering another door...never did. So from December to Feb...I had a piece of cheap door. But they continued to take all $700 for my rent. Every time I inquired abt the door...I got met with excuses.Like I said it was nice the first 2 years..after tht it was horrible. Im late on this review but I just thought Id share my experience. The office staff needs to be more responsible and handle tenant issues in a timely matter. Ive also only spoke with the apartment manager once ..he was nice I suppose. Also, the office staff lost my money order once & THANK GOODNESS I was able to find my receipt. There has been so many new faces in the office my 3years there....I wonder why
They do credit checks. And will deny you right away
AVOID THIS GHETTO LIKE THE PLAGUE!February 1 2016 - signed lease and began moving in. By the end of the day, grout from around the kitchen floor tiles began to pop out, and the kitchen floor felt spongy. 6 floor tiles were loose and could be lifted from the floor. I stepped on the loose tiles and watched grout and dust being ejected from the grout joints. Beneath the sink was evidence of previous water damage - the shelf was severely warped and was useless for storage. Closer examination revealed that the grout joints had been cobbled with drywall patching compound - very brittle and powdery, unlike tile grout.Feb 2 2016 - informed property manager of the floor tile problem. Her reply, The inspector did not find anything wrong with the floor! When I asked to have someone look at the floor problem, her reply was, Were too busy to look at your floor! Asked to have the door closer repaired - the door was slamming so hard, it could be heard and felt throughout the entire building. Her reply, If you dont like the noise, you can move! Took the maintenance folks 6 months (ALL Feb to the end of July) to figure out HOW to adjust a simple door closer.Feb 2016 - swept up the loose grout and grout/drywall compound, placed some of it in a plastic sandwich bag, took it to the office, and once again asked to have my disintegrating kitchen floor repaired. This time, Gwen replied, Julie has to look at the floor. One week later, still no Julie, I submitted another plastic bag with grout and dust, and once again asked to have the floor FIXED.Feb 16 2016 - two weeks after reporting the floor problem, Julie (maint. mgr.) showed up to make several repairs. My copy of her Work Performed included this about the floor problem, Grout will be discussed w/manajer. (her spelling, not mine).Unfortunately, the floor was NEVER properly repaired, but covered with a cheap grade of vinyl tile. I wouldnt be surprised if colonies of black mold were growing in the damaged subfloor.Nov 2016 - MSHDA inspector wrote a violation for the damaged and uneven floor citing many trip hazards. He asked to have the damaged tiles replaced and the floor repaired.Dec 2016 - Julie and Matt covered the damaged tiles with vinyl tiles.Dec 2016 - Reinspection of the repair resulted in another violation. The inspector could NOT believe that they simply covered the damage.Jan 2017 - MSHDA issued a STOP PAYMENT order for failure to comply with the required repairs and eliminate the trip hazards.Jan 2017 - 6 days prior to the expiration of my lease, Gwen and her crew FINALLY looked at the floor, informed me that they would perform NO additional repairs, and that my lease would NOT be renewed. She told me that I was responsible for MSHDAs portion of rent! I pointed out to her the paragraph on the VIOLATION which forbids such action. I was given until February 28, 2017, to vacate the apartment.Parking lots and sidewalks are both in a sad state of disrepair.Noise complaints are largely ignored in favor of keeping the rent money flowing - Ignore the lease - we have a protocol to follow! (Gwen)Maintenance does NOT clear snow or salt the sidewalks - you need to call the office! In January 2017 a tenant slipped and fell on the ice outside of building 25236 - nobody spread rock salt on the sidewalks.Carpets in most buildings are filthy, filled with cigarette burns, and in the summer heat give off an odor of urine.Looking for Mary J? Its all over the complex.Abuse your significant other? Kids? If Gwen likes them, nothing is done, and the lease terms are ignored.Catalytic converter was stolen from my vehicle - sawed clean off. Another tenant had his catalytic converter stolen one week earlier.Neighbor had new tires and wheels stolen off of his vehicle. His car was propped up on bricks taken from the porches! Safe?Take note of ALL the complaints and the recent flurry of activity and phony concern by the management team.WHERE was this concern when they were FIRST notified of problems?Good Luck to you - AVOID THIS DRUG-INFESTED GHETTO!
At 1st I need the corporate phone number to complain about this place. Thay took $95 from me about two month ago than they took $110 for holding fee about months ago and been told its non refundable. They told me I will get the apertment really shortly and how shortly I will.get the apartment I have no idea. When I call them they always tells me they will call me back but they never do. I been running after them been two months still didnt got accurate answer when I will get the apartment. I already having really bad experience with them and I dont how is gonna be after I move in. My mistake was I didnt read the reviews before I signed in for this apartment. I am really disappointed with the service. And I really didnt wanna give one star but to write this review I had to.
Ghetto, rent too high, dont take care of tenants, people smoke in hallways, nosy neighbors, its just like Detroit. Would not recommend to no one. Please dont move there.
Lived there 4 years and they dont do any maintenance, walls are paper thin, pool never was open or fixed, whole building had bed bugs. They only care about the money and not the tenants.
Giving it at 3 only because I havent moved in yet looking at these reviews I dont know Im supposed to go in Friday to check it out well see how things go my main concern right now is the Heat people saying they dont have heat in the winter its a major problem.
Nice place for the price
It hell living at hoover square no pool and the rent is to high be glad when my lease is up
Looks cozy
I be living at Hoover Square for 5 year. These new people in office are friendly they told me about new things coming soon. I like the new people because they care about us resident.
Its what you asked for.

Rude
