Our Sasha girl has 2 emergencies within 9 days Both experiences included overnight stays and a surgery. From ER to discharge the communication and explanation of illness and diagnosis was great. Very upfront about cost. I spoke to many doctors and support staff. Everyone was Professional, empathetic and put my mind at ease that our Sasha girl was in wonderful hands. Thank you ❤️
DOG ABUSE! They razor cut my baby all over his stomach for ultrasound shave. Very unprofessional and careless. Im heartbroken to see my 11 months baby boy just got a rude treat/ hurt at blue pearl - 180 Bear Hill Rd, Waltham, MA 02451. There are blood scab shown all over his gentle stomach the day after the visit. Cut by the razor to shave.he’s very uncomfortable after leaving the hospital. He’s not eating but keep licking his stomach where he got razor cuts. Please see pictures attached. First day might look like clipper irritation but from day two, the blood scab shows everywhere. Irritation doesn’t have blood come out!We had an appointment for internal medicines and they need to run the ultrasound test. The physician/technician mentioned they need to shave the hair on his stomach and then after the test they gave us some aloe said he had a little razor burn. We didn’t get the chance to see how bad it was, thought it was just some skin sensitive and redness. However when we got home and saw how it real look like I feel so heartbroken and angry. Especially when saw he’s consistently licking the stomach and I know he feel burn. I can’t imagine how rude they are when they shaving his gentle stomach. I can bear with how ugly they shaved the area but the whole stomach burn? If razor were blunt like that, the hair may got tear off instead of shaved off. That’s even more hurt. Those burns are not life threatened but I believe every dog parent can feel the sore of seeing a 11 months baby got this careless treat in hospital. The razor burn may disappear in a week but it never means it’s ok for anyone to be so careless and rude and my baby certainly never deserves this. Dog parents, you never know how they abuse your dog when they take your baby.We were seeking cures but ended up with more hurt from the hospital! An update picture of today morning we can see the blood scab everywhere . I don’t want to imagine my poor baby being force shaved by human, who he always trust 100%. it’s so heartbroken. An update on the third day, every time I put ointment to his belly I hate this place and people one more time. You never know how cruel and careless they are behind the fake nice.I’ve raised a complain to the blue Pearl customer experience team and I’ll try all I can to share this in media.
Please do not rely on the service to print your pet’s paw. I would suggest making the paw print yourself. There is a chance you might be heartbroken. You can see the other review where this is an issue.I decided to put my dog down at this local hospital. I was intrigued by the option to have my dog’s paw printed. I originally wanted to do this myself, but I figured the hospital could do this service for me. I requested 3 paw prints from this hospital. They do offer one free paw print with this service, and I paid for the other 2 prints. I have siblings that wanted prints of our childhood dog. It was painful to put him down, but we trusted this hospital after reading the reviews. 4 days after we put our dog of 17 years down, we received a call to pick up the paw print. Upon receiving the paw print, they only printed 1 mold of my dog’s paw. There was a mistake on the “request”. They refunded me for the other prints, but the damage was done. This was heartbreaking because this was the last physical part of my best friend. We are left with just 1 paw print to share with 3 siblings that do not live in the same state. I spoke to Rachel on 4/22 and she offered memorial items for my dog. I ordered some items and Rachel did not send me a confirmation email or call me for an update. It has been 3 weeks and I still have no idea when the items will arrive. I highly recommend not putting any faith in this service. I do not want other owners to be feeling the way that I did. I regret putting my trust in this hospital.
We had a great experience all around. Service, price and care.Staff was very helpful and caring about our cat and his care. They are definitely much more reasonable in price than other veterinarian or pet hospital locations that weve been to In the past.At BluePearl pet hospital My cats health was their priority. I have never been to a pet hospital like this before that put my pets health first & price 2nd.We will definitely return to this location and use their services for all our pets..
My dog and I had about as good of an experience at BluePearl as you can in an emergency. They were great about communicating the treatment plan and price. Wait times could be communicated a little better but I understand that things can change quickly at a pet ER. When I picked up my dog they let me know they didnt even charge as much as the lower estimate and refunded me a good chunk, which is always nice. Afterwards, they were great about following up with her bandage removal and called several times to check in.Overall, my dog received great care and I never had to feel worried or paranoid about being upsold/overcharged. 5/5 would return, but hope that I never have to 😊
Our yorkie had an emergency today, they were able to accommodate us the same day. We are grateful, thank you to the amazing front desk team for your kindness and staff. We appreciate you! Our little guy is doing great.
I cant say enough good things about Blue Pearl and am honestly surprised to find negative reviews. I dealt with 3 different doctors while my cat was staying there for 3 days. All of them have been very upfront about the financial burden on my cat being there. And, they were also upfront about their support on whatever the decisions I would make based on my financial situation. Front desk stuff, nurses, and techs were also fantastic. When people answer the phone, they knew my cat. Techs and nurses would say some things like She is such a sweet lady or she is hanging in there. You hang in there. During the difficult time of not knowing whether my cat will die or be okay in the end, I really appreciated these little gestures. I am attaching the picture of the prescription bag with my cat name with a little heart. They really like our pets and are committed to help them and us at the same time. I was particularly thankful for Dr. Spielman (I may be misspelling her name). I have the type of jobs I can only take phone calls during my breaks. She welcomed me to let her know when she can reach me and made sure to call me during that time (and spend 20 minutes talking about my cats condition/treatment). I paid a lot but every penny I spent was worth what they do. I would say this even my cat didnt survive the illness...
We called ahead to see if our pet would be a candidate for an emergency visit. I explained the situation and the person I was talking to said that we could bring our pet in any time if we felt we needed to do so. A short time later, we drove to the office and called from outside. We explained the situation again and this time, we were told this does not constitute an emergency, so we need to go elsewhere. I am stunned. After reading many of the other negative reviews, I am glad we did not subject our pet to this place after all.
My dog needed an ophthalmologist. He was seen less than one year ago. He was diagnosed with a chronic and recurring problem. Lots of expense and time to establish his care w this specialist. Now the diagnosed problem has recurred. This clinic will not prescribe medication (on the basis he did not experience the acute problem when they saw him only the symptoms). When I requested a call from the doctor I did not receive one. (I was called by someone not his doctor to explain that he can’t be seen until July and they can’t offer help). This is not only terrible, it’s unethical. You cannot expect people to see you, pay you, wait for you... to then be told “sorry not our problem”. My dog is in pain. It’s heartbreaking. Their lack of care is appalling.4/20/21 update: on Friday I was contacted by this clinic re: my Google review (not by the veterinarian as requested, and not regarding the dog). When it became clear that the sole purpose of this call was to request that I remove the review the call was politely ended. No Rachael, you are not the doctor. And no, I will not remove this feedback (while said pet is still squinting in pain).I’ll unnecessarily reiterate that this dog was seen by a specialist at this location and diagnosed with a chronic problem. When the problem recurred, the vet did not return the requested call and the clinic did nothing (for a highly painful problem). This was not an owner refusing emergency care. This was a clinic outright refusing care to an animal they recently treated and for a known problem. It’s shameful.Stating that they wish my dog well is a ploy to appear professional when their actions run counter. I’ve now had two veterinarians confirm that their “policies and procedures” regarding this situation are anything but caring (or professional).
I had the worst experience of my life be slightly not as horrible because of how great this staff is. My cat unfortunately was too sick to make it but the vets kind words and compassion was really comforting. Despite covid protocols she allowed me and my partner to come in, say goodbye and be with my baby while he transitioned to a better place.
The team at Blue Pearl was amazing! Friendly and helpful on the phone and when we arrived. Great service. Weve been to many vets over the years. We were very impressed! Thank you, Blue Pearl!!! Our cat is now home happy and resting.
The practitioners at Blue Pearl are excellent. I can’t thank them enough for the outstanding treatment and care they have provided to my kitties🐱🐱 Thank you for all you do
On Sunday, February 21 I brought my 21-year-old cat to blue pearl he had to be put to rest the best decision for him not for me. I was asked if I wanted to paw print I said yes Time passed and I never got a call so I called them looking for his paw print they told me they never submitted my request and of course there’s nothing you can do now they broke my heart one last thing my one last connection is gone. Not a veryGood last impression of blue pearl.
Ive been here for two emergency visits with my chihuahua mix, bruno. The staff is friendly and caring. My dog hates going to the vet and usually freaks out, gets extremely squirmy and needs a muzzle but hes the best Ive ever seen with these wonderful humans. He clearly feels safe with them and thats a relief for me. Both times Ive come in worried and crying about my pup and leave with peace of mind. Thank you so much!!💕🙏🏼
They save my cat twice for serious liver problem this winter . For ever great full . That pet is my lifeline and companion day and night .i am 84 years old and no kids around he his my soulmate .Very organized group, knowledgeable and very caring. The best of the best !
I cannot say enough great things about Blue Pearl Waltham and their whole team of nurses and technicians and doctors (especially Dr. Erin McGowan!). They literally saved our dog Lexi’s life several years ago after she had somehow ingested rodent poison. And just again this past weekend, they came to her rescue once again on another very scary incident. They are so caring and professional. My family feels so lucky that we live nearby.
I had to bring my 12yr old cat in just after midnight tonight for an abscess on her cheek most likely due to a bad tooth. Driving there was a scary experience as she has never in her life been out of the house. Needless to say she was very stressed the entire ride (25mins). I called as soon as I got in the parking lot and informed the receptionist of how bad she was panting. They sent someone right out to get her while I was on hold then came back on the phone and took all of the necessary info. I was told the Dr. would call us soon with an update. The doctor called me after maybe 15mins and explained everything to me! I of course agreed to the price ($400 for a drain of the infection and meds to go home with…NOT BAD AT ALL) I was very pleased with my experience here and if I ever am in need of an emergency again this is where I will be going!! Just wish it wasn’t just an emergency hospital!!! Thank you again Dr. Foyo and the entire staff!!
My dog was there a few weeks ago for a colonoscopy and treatment for IBD, but was given a clean bill of health.Since then his health has decreased dramatically. He actually spent a good portion of the weekend there under observation where they didn’t do much, told us he was fine, sent him home where he got worse, again. We took him to Angell for a second opinion since we weren’t getting anywhere at Blue Pearl. At Angell they did an ultrasound and found a mass in his intestine, again Blue Pearl had told us was fine and just IBD. Angell wanted to do a ct scan but are booked out for a month so we started calling other hospitals. Blue Pearl Waltham told us they didn’t do ct scans at that location, so we called around some more places, and one place we called was Blue Pearl’s Boston location. The person there said “we don’t so ct scans but they absolutely do them at Waltham”So we called Waltham again and again were told they don’t do them *at all*, so we relayed that info we’d gotten from their Boston location…the person on the phone paused and then said “ok well we don’t do them unless you’re an oncology patient” which is not what we were told two other times. There’s a big difference between “we do not do this procedure” and “we don’t do them unless you’re throwing more money at us even though you already have imaging showing a high risk for cancer”To be clear this is an *emergency*, we have imagining showing something is clearly wrong, and the only way they will do a diagnostic test is if they can milk more money out of us and slow down my dog’s urgent need for a CT scan in the process. So now I kind of hate myself for ever bringing him there in the first place since they managed to miss a serious finding and then gaslit us that he was fine when he clearly wasn’t, and then someone in reception repeatedly lied to us about what diagnostic tests are available there. I’d heard this place was all about the money and I wish I’d pushed harder to get his original treatment done at Angell
Our 11 yo Beagle Scout was recovering from dental surgery when he began a six hour stretch of vomiting & diarrhea two days post op. We arrived at Blue Pearl at 2am as Scout was crashing quickly with bloody diarrhea & dehydration. The care he received was professional & compassionate. They responded immediately to his needs & happy to say he went home 36 hrs later with a diagnosis of hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, & a bill less than the low end quote. The ending could have been much different if not for the expertise of the staff early that morning. They communicated with me often & answered all my questions. We are repeat customers of BP. Our dogs antics brought us to their doors many times. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Blue Pearl and the entire team were nothing short of fantastic when I took my dog there recently after she got a deep cut on her shoulder. I think most importantly Im glad they are open 24 hours since I tried a couple animal hospitals closer to me and they all closed around 6/7.Blue Pearl was understanding, compassionate, and kept me updated throughout the night with multiple phone calls and updates on how my dog was doing. They did everything they could to make me feel comfortable during a nerve-wracking time. I read some negative reviews mostly from people complaining about price, its a hospital and would you complain about costs if you had to take a family member to the hospital? Theyre emergency services and sometimes those get pricey but its absolutely worth it having the peace of mind knowing your pet is in good hands. They were excellent with explaining how she would be feeling the next couple weeks, gave me recommendations that were very clear on the discharge paperwork, and even checked in by phone calls a couple times since shes been home. When Ive taken her back for follow ups the parking is packed so clearly many people share my opinion. I would highly recommend Blue Pearl to anyone!
Needed to bring my dog in after she ate some absorbent material in the late evening and they were the closest place that was available for us to be seen. They are taking excellent covid measures and check you in over the phone, take your pet inside, and then call you throughout the whole visit to give you updates on what’s happening, paperwork, etc.Vet was very thorough in explaining what happened and how my dog was reacting to the meds they gave her and then gave great discharge instructions.Everyone I talked to was super nice and friendly, even despite the 10pm check in on a Friday night.
It would be wonderful if a place that says it is open 24 hours to answer the phone.. After 15 rings, I think it would be important if it was an emergency to answer the phone..
I have been here twice. Once when I had to put down my dog of 13 years. The vet and vet tech were so compassionate, made him as comfortable as possible, and let us have as much time as we needed with him. I am so grateful for them, and highly recommend using them.
I see a lot of reviews on here criticizing price and using that as an evaluation for care. This is an emergency vet hospital. Emergencies are not cheap. Please stop comparing $$ to service when it comes to your pets. If you personally (human) were in an emergency situation you probably wouldn’t consider cost of care over the skills of a doctor.Blue Pearl was recommended to me when I moved to the area by vets, neighbours, and other dog people I’ve met. I utilized their services for my dog who was not acting himself post vet hours. Given my situation I did not want to wait to bring him to the vet.Their COVID policies were fair. It was extremely busy and I saw many technicians running around technicians running around, but they are able diagnose (or not, we still don’t know if there was anything wrong yet) within 3 hours. My situation was not a full emergency but I felt how I was treated given the volume and time of night we were seen in a respectful and personal manner. I would suggest them to others who have an emergency situation. Excellent job Blue Pearl!
Don’t take your pet to BluePearl if you care about them! I took my 4-month pup to BluePearl for diarrhea, 3 days later and 4300.00 I took him home. By the time we got home my puppy was throwing up and diarrhea! They put tubes in his nose and shaved him And put IV in a 7 lb puppy!!I took him to my breeds vet who was able to diagnose salmonella poisoning! My vet was outraged by the treatment provided and what care wasn’t provided! BluePearl did all these expensive procedures but Didn’t do a simple fecal test which would’ve determine what he was sick with. I ended up putting my dog through all kinds of trauma having them care for him only to learn that simply Pepto-Bismol in an anabiotic would’ve done the trick. I called and shared with BluePearl and how disappointed I was in the care that I received (didn’t receive) the doctor I spoke to. (was supposed to be the director of the clinic) told me that she didn’t do anything wrong and would’ve done the same thing over again. Not only is it outrageous that they just took my money and didn’t care for my dog but then she stands on her ground that she would do the exact same thing again even though they didn’t do the simple bare bones fecal test or make him well!! This place only cares about your money not your pet!!
THIS IS THE WORST VET OFFICE THE CHARGE ONLY EMERGENCY VISIT 180$ PLUS MAKE YOU PAY FOR EXAMANS YOUR PET DOESNT NEED AT THE END BILL IS.LIKE $1000 DOLLAR
Criminals. There seemed to be zero communication between the front desk staff or the vet. The vet ran several unncessary and unrelated tests on my 3 year old cat not knowing what the problem was. The desk then proceeded to charge me a ridiculous amount of money without any relevant diagnosis, and snuck in an additional charge for a cone for my cat to wear home that had nothing to do with the issue. Will never bring any pet here again.
The worst. Please due diligence and read reviews for Waltham and Charlestown. Took my pup here for allergic reaction to a vaccine. She had almost died once and the vet was closing and said out of abundance of caution and based on her symptoms go to the hospital. What transpired was the most unprofessional and over priced experience.- was told 4 times that my puppy was a diva.- when I went to pick her up she was worse than when she went in - when I inquired the tech said “she is MORE than fine and more than stable she was up allll night barking and bothering us while we worked” seriously? And they never took her out she had urine all over her. She is full potty trained.- she then made a wise crack and said “maybe try NOT vaccinating her next time”- they urged me to keep her overnight (1,200 plus) and then told me she didn’t need it.- the manager was CYA. The entire time. Flip and rude. I called HQ to discuss the bill and suddenly the manager called me back immediately and harassed me for calling HQ.- I am so fortunate my pup was not in dire straights like the first time and it was just cost, horrible customer service and another trip to the vet to get on the correct meds.Due diligence.
We took our dog here when he was not being himself for a few weeks and the day we took him in was throwing up blood clots. From the minute we walked in the staff was professional and tried their best to make sure we understood everything. We ended up getting an ultrasound done of his stomach which showed severe tumors in his left kidney, they continued to look at the lungs for safety and found an obscene amount of tumors there as well. They had a doctor from oncology come over and double check the ultrasound in which he said he has no idea how our dog, a soon to be 7 year old Yellow Lab is still playing and acting like nothing was wrong. All the doctors said it was amazing he wasnt acting like he was in pain, however were only giving him a few days our two options were take him home with lots of medication and hope for the best that hell last at least another month or put him down. We chose to put him down to save him the pain, which they handled amazingly, they gave us time with him and when ever we were ready they gave him the sedative, waited the time that was needed and put him to sleep. They helped us find the best urn and place for cremation for him. This was on Monday the 20th, today the 24th we received a card giving us their sympathy and informing us they put a donation in his name to a pet organization. I am extremely pleased with the service and knowledge that they provided us, and highly recommend them!
Great emergency care for our very sick little dog. Would recommend to anyone. Great vets, great staff, able to do blood tests, ultrasounds, IVs, etc., they explained what was necessary, and they did a great job.
From R.I., but refuse to go to Ocean State Vet in East Greenwich. Went to Bluepearl, which is an hour ride away. Brought my German Shepard Jemma for surgery and she received top notch care. Entire staff / doctors were excellent and I would not hesitate to return if another emergency presents itself. THANK YOU!
This place is amazing. It can be expensive but if you want the best care for your animal in an emergency situation, go here. I cant say enough good things.
I have now been there twice, with another appt next week. I have had an excellent experience so far, the doctors have been wonderful and so has the staff.
A really incredible experience from start to finish. Very compassionate staff. Great work by the doctors and nurses on treating my dog after a coyote attack. Costs were exceptionally reasonable. I dont think I could possibly recommend this place more. I had been once before many years ago and will now always return as needed. Thank you so much.
**DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE**Our experience here was a whirlwind. We brought our cat in with kidney failure and it started out as a great experience. Im providing the 1 star because Dr. Rosenthal and Dr. DePaula were very kind and helpful. You could tell they cared about what they do and were knowledgeable. The plan was to continue to give our cat fluids for a few days until her levels dropped. This was cut short when Dr. Speilman stepped in - she is as close to a car salesman as it gets. She called us and told us that our cats health took a turn and she was no longer doing well, that we should pick her up, and that her levels were as low as they could get (they werent that low). She also told us that our cat was extremely wobbly and should be taken to a neurologist, which she could not refer. When we asked what could cause this she said I dont know.... a stoke?? even though our cat was under 24/7 surveillance. This is on top of her explaining that shes been a vet for over 30 years and knows whats best. The conversation went in circles and not one question was answered. She started reading off levels and then realized it was a alt. patients. The rudest point was when she said told us we had run out of budget This was never something we had discussed and not even something we were concerned with. We told her we needed to think about picking our cat up, as we had higher hopes for her levels. When we called back and told her that we agree we should pick her up, Speilman acted surprised and asked if we really thought that was the best decision, even though this is what she had suggested. We wanted to get our cat out of there because we no longer trusted the care she was in. When we picked her up the nurse was practically flinging the carrier around. When our cat came out of the carrier she was a MESS, no one had cleaned her up. Her fur was matted and stuck down with medicine and iodine, she was shaved extremely tightly in many places including a chunk off her tail. We will never be returning to this hospital and in no means will be recommending it.
We came in for an emergency stomach torsion surgery and was send over from Mscpa Waltham because they had no surgeons. When I came in with my suffering whimpering dog there was no one at the Rezeption. I had to wait 3 minutes until someone showed up!!! In an emergency hospital. They immediately took Bella and of course all the paperwork. Then someone explained the surgery for me and I was told the total cost will belong between 6900-9000$!!! 😳😳😳 We are struggling with money for a long time so you can imagine how shocked I was when they told me the total cost. So I crashed cried and begged them to make it cheaper so I can afford it, but they seemed to have no heart at all. I know it was 2 a clock in the morning and there is no way to live without my dog. So my husband tried to call different emergency pet hospitals. We got lucky: Mscpa in Jamaica plain offered us to do it for 4000$. So I got my dog and we went out of this Profit hesitating horrible pet hospital! It’s the worst thing to try to make profit out of peoples love to their animals!!! Karma will judge it! Never go there! Don’t support them! It’s a big difference to pay just 4000$ versus 8000$!!!! Get that in mind!!!
They treated us with compassion, care and respect. I am grateful for everything they did for Leo, a 12-year-old Lhasa who after a critical moment managed to get out of hospital and is recovering well. Specially Dr Bari Spielman, I will never forget the care of this team with our family.
*BEWARE*We took our 11 year old healthy dog here due to an affiliation with our vet for an emergency visit due to concerning behavior from what we thought was digestive issues. We arrived at 12:30am. By 3:30am they gave us 2 options. A $10k surgery to remove his spleen which may have Hemangiosarcoma or immediately euthanize him. When asked if there were other options due to the lack of my two young children being able to say goodbye, their concession was to keep him until the morning and allow us time in the bereavement room to say goodbye as a family, basically leaving him in a cage for the final 5-6 hours of his life. We refused and took him home against the advice of the Vet and her supervisor due to their concern of him bleeding out and dying a slow and painful death at home”. We made this decision because the vet also described him as alert, happy, and asking for treats which made us confident that we could AT LEAST make it until the 8 or 9 where our vet could see him and worst case our children could say goodbye at our home. Once home we gave him Yunnan which they conceded and sent us home. This all happened now 35 days ago. He is eating, drinking, happy, playful, and going for walks multiple times a day, acting completely normal. While we may be on borrowed time, the fact that once they realized we werent getting the $10K surgery they tried to get us to put him down (with a 5 hour stay our bill probably would have been over $2K with euthanization) without doing any bloodwork, imaging other then a brief ultrasound or having ANYTHING that is conclusive on his report is beyond concerning and upsetting. The fact that this clinic was ready to end our dogs life and were extremely adamant about it should give anyone pause for concern to bring their pet to them. I will never be back and if it turns out their diagnosis was incorrect I will be filing complaints with every governing agency that regulates their license. Regardless, its very clear, BLUE PEARL IS IN THE PET KILLING FOR PROFIT BUSINESS. They are not in this industry to help and care for peoples pets.
Very lovely staff here. We had troubles applying the eye drops for our dog and they just kindly helped us with it everyday.
I cant say enough good about Blue Pearl. They were kind, compassionate, understanding, and informative. I was told I could call anytime to check on my little guy (who spent three days there) and they genuinely meant it. Even when I called at 11pm or 4am, they would give me an update and reassure me he was doing well. They also thought to hang a towel on one side of his cage and put his bed behind it so he would have a secure feeling space to sleep. Dr Rosenthal, his day nurse Chelsea, and his night nurse whose name I cant remember right now (sorry!) were all great. They saved my cats life and gave him great care in the process. All of the ladies at the front desk were great too! It is not cheap, yet what medical care is? And it is 100% worth it. Blue Pearl is great and while I hope to never have to make another trip to an Emergency vet, Blue Pearl is definitely where I would go.
I was extremely pleased with the level of care my dachshund received from Dr. Murphy and the staff at BluePearl. With restrictions due to Covid-19, its difficult to hand over a dog in pain and not be able to be in the room, but Dr. Murphy called me quickly after an exam and was as thorough and patient as if I were in there. He was able to treat my dogs pain until we were able to see a neurologist later in the day. As much as I hope I never need their services again, I would not hesitate to bring my dogs back!
We’ve been visiting once a day since Monday when our dog was having severe issues and we took him to the ER. Since then we’ve been transferred to IM, and have had the best experience. Doctors and Vet Techs have been awesome about cost/benefit analysis of different diagnostic tests and treatment options. They’ve been fantastic about explaining every test result, complication, and possible outcome. I feel like my dog is in such good hands every time we come in.I happened to be in the office this morning when the previous reviewer’s experience occurred about the cardiologist, and that’s not an accurate depiction of what happened. The vet tech who was explaining the issue is the same one we’ve been dealing with, and she’s so considerate and very caring. Really happy with how she’s been caring for my dog.
The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They treated both me and my dog with the most kindness. Obviously this place is more than your regular vet- you’re paying for the convenience of a 24/7 veterinarian but I did not feel as if they tried to maximize profits and make me purchase anything unnecessary. The facility itself is super clean. Would definitely recommend to use Blue Pearl if you experience an emergency with your pet!
I took my pet to Blue Pearl in Waltham for an eye emergency at 8:20am. A friendly staff member came to my car and got my Roxy and brought her in. I received a call from a staff member stating that Dr. Williams needed to do a debridement for a non healing corneal ulcer and let me know the cost and asked if I wanted to have it done, I said yes. Dr. Williams called me and explained all went well and her staff would be out with Roxy with all instructions. Staff member brought Roxy out & reviewed everything with me. Not only was the entire process efficient, but both staff members & the physician we extremely friendly, courteous, professional and caring. The physician had previously did this on Roxys eye 1 1/2 years ago as my baby puppy at the time had scratched her eye, and Roxy is 12 years old. Dr. Williams is a very experienced Opthalmologist and is very caring. I give her and her team a 5 out of 5!
The people here are very considerate, patient, and willing to walk through all the steps of how to properly take care of your pet at home. We brought our cat in around 4am the first time around and they kept us updated every step of his stay. They also had kind words for him and it felt like they actually got to know him and how he functioned. As a side note, the coffee machine was very appreciated.
We had an amazing experience at Blue Pearl in Waltham. My dog had a scuffle with a porcupine, and Id gotten the quills out, but wanted to be sure nothing was left. The receptionist and vet tech were very friendly, professional, and helpful. They took my dog back and checked for barbs, then asked me to wait until the doctor had a chance to look. They took her to the back once more, and then told me everything looked good. They did not charge me ANYTHING, because the doctor had just taken a short time to look. I was stunned. Id been concerned that these types of emergency hospitals are all about making money. Blue Pearl proved me wrong. A great experience.
This place saved my poor kitty! One Sunday morning I noticed that he was going in and out of his litter box multiple times, then a few minutes later squatting over the carpet to pee and yet nothing was coming out and he was howling and in visible pain. Since our normal vet wasnt open, I called Bluepearl and they said to bring him in immediately as a urinary blockage is life threatening and extremely time sensitive. My husband drove him there, called from the car (this was at the height of COVID) and they came to get him immediately and said that hed need to stay there for a couple of days. They took such good care of my sweet boy and after 2 days of catheter draining, he was back to his old self and hasnt had another blockage since. They were also very good about calling me with updates on his progress the whole time. Thank you for saving my sweet boy!!!
Dr. Clara Williams (ophthalmologist) was incredible with our cat. She made him feel comfortable, she explained what is happening to his eyes thoroughly, and she did not pressure us into surgery for him which was refreshing. We traveled an hour to see her because there are no reputable animal ophthalmologist near us. It ended up being worth the drive.
The entire staff at Blue Pearl is both compassionate and extremely capable. Their ability to see and treat our pets immediately during an emergency has been critical in their overall well-being.
This is the most professional and competent veterinary staff to be found in the area. One of my dogs was in decline and took a turn for the worst. The staff made his passing as painless as possible and made the decision easier. They are not out to get your money or to overcharge you. They are about providing the highest quality service and are the best choice for any emergency/special pet needs. Another time one of my dogs had a stick lodged in its mouth and I couldnt get it out. When I arrived at BluePearl, the woman at the front desk promptly took my dog to see the doctor and I was back with my dog within five minutes--stick free. BluePearl didnt even charge me for the service. These people are passionate about their work and care about providing the best service to your pet. I highly recommend this place to anyone with emergency/special pet needs.
Great place to go for an emergency. The staff was helpful, kind and efficient. We waited a bit to be seen but there were several animals there. The vet gave suggestions about what they could do there and what she suggested would be good follow up with the regular vet. For an ER visit, small treatment and meds, the amount was very reasonable (without pet insurance). If you need to take your pet somewhere, I would recommend this place.
Very friendly staff, upfront about cost and treatment options. Gave a personalized after-care report and typed specific discharge instructions. Handicap accessible!
Huge thank you to everyone at Blue Pearl. I called them with an emergency and they were waiting for me when I came in with my cat who had stopped breathing. Even though my cat had passed away, I still had a very good experience because they were so nice and compassionate. I want to thank the vets who worked on Willow and all the ladies at the reception desk. Even though it was such a hard time for me and my husband, you guys really made us feel good. So I highly recommend this place. 5 stars all around!
Upon arrival, they REFUSED TO PROVIDE SERVICES, saying I was not a client; I should see their cardiologist and WHY didnt my vet have a traveling cardiologist come to their facility?? The front desk had provided me instructions to arrive btwx 9-5 M,T or Th for an echo cardiogram. Despite their responsibility for the misinformation, she just shrugged her shoulders, did not care their staff had provided assurances this was correct procedure. Offered nothing to make up for their error. HUGE waste of time, HORRIBLE customer service, only wanted me to pay for THEIR cardiologist when my vet was monitoring the situation just fine. Money grubbers. Unprofessional. ZERO stars.
The staff at Blue Pearl saved the life of my 2 month old puppy 4 years ago when she had Parvovirus at just 3 lbs. She survived after 8 agonizing days in isolation with a feeding tube and IVs . They truly saved her life.
We have been using Blue Pearl the past year with our 10 year old Boxer that was dealing with a lot of health issues. They were extremely compassionate and loving with our sweet boy up until the last day he was with us. Dr. Spielman even called us with his test results while she was at the hospital for her own family emergency. Recently we adopted a Boxer puppy that likes to eat a lot of strange things and theyve been able to retrieve them without surgery twice in 3 weeks!!! I would highly recommend this facility to anyone that cares about their dogs as if they are children to them.
Absolutely lovely, kind people. Checked out my dog after he was lost for 3+ hours in sub freezing temperatures. Can’t say enough about them.
Super friendly and helpful! Very quick in and out.
Short wait time and the appointment did not feel rushed (I still highly recommend calling around different hospitals to check on how busy they are). Empathetic and helpful staff. The doctor, Dr. Caleb Murphy, was very easy to communicate with and explained all my options.
My German Shepherd Zephyr had a skin biopsy at Concord Animal Hospital which turned out positive for tumor. I was referred to Dr Nevius at Blue Pearl. I left Dr Nevius a voicemail at 10:30 on a Friday and she responded within the hour setting up an appointment to see her Saturday Morning.Surgery was scheduled within 4 days and results were excellent with free margins of surgical specimen.I have been a Plastic Surgeon for 37 years and can evaluate Zephyrs results.Dr. Neviuss surgical skills are evident in clean surgical margins and a beautiful surgical wound repair I would be proud of. I highly recommend Dr Nevius and Blue Pearl
Very impressed with the customer service, attention to detail, medical expertise and approach to animal health care. Thank you for everything. Steve & Ace!
The whole process was excellent and staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend!
In the rain two techs brought a stretcher right away and took my 13 year-old dog inside. They triaged and took blood and a flash ultrasound of chest and belly. The doctor met with me with a preliminary diagnosis. All within 20-25 minutes. Everyone from the front desk to the techs to the doctor were first-rate. Luckily my dog was discharged -- with a written follow-up plan. He is now recovered. This is a professional, first class operation. I believe that they are well-equipped with state of the art medical equipment. I would bring my pets there if needed.
Our dog had a cruciate ligament tear. She previously had orthopedic surgery at Tufts, so our first choice was to take her there again, but it was a over a month to get an appointment for an evaluation. Our vet recommended Blue Pearl, who had an appointment much sooner. We saw Dr. Nieves. She was wonderful with our nervous dog, and went over every detail of the diagnosis and surgery options with us. We had _a lot_ of questions, and she was patient and thorough in answering all of them. For example, our dog had a bad experience with anesthesia once that left her very sick. Dr. Nieves listened to our concerns and made a plan to do everything they could to prevent it from happening again. The surgery went very well, and she didnt get sick at all. A year later, our dog is running around and playing like nothing ever happened. We are immensely grateful to everyone at Blue Pearl, but especially Dr. Nieves. I wish every doctor were as informative, patient, and skilled as she is. Very highly recommended.Edited to add: After reading other reviews for Blue Pearl, I realized I left out cost. It was very expensive. Our regular vets office told us they could do a simpler, less expensive procedure, but advised that the procedures offered by orthopedic specialists had better outcomes. Blue Pearl gave us an estimate upfront, so we were prepared. Our dog had a TPLO, and between the consultation, surgery, x-rays, etc., we spent around $6k. YMMV - some charges were particular to our dogs situation.
Only writing to warn others. I wish I could give no stars at all. Do not bring your pet here. My dog would have passed away before I could even get an answer of what they thought could be wrong. Save your time, money and most importantly save your animal and go 30 minutes away to MSPCA Angell. I wasted nearly 3 hours while my dog was in pain and paid $700 here to get an incomplete X-ray (they only did 2 views and when we went to MSPCA they said typically 3 views are done in order to have better insight to what was happening with the animal)... on top of that, we were quoted for a radiologists review of the X-ray, but afterwards told that we had to pay an additional $100 to have them review it that day... for an emergency! It seems this place is more interested in money than the actual well-being of animals. We brought our dog to Angell and everyone there couldnt have been more caring and concerned for our dog. She ended up needing an emergency surgery at Angell and I am so glad we made the decision to take her there instead of leaving her at BluePearl. Please do not support this place. Dr. Zallas called me 2 full days after my dog was out of surgery with the radiologists prognosis... my dog wouldnt have made it another 12 hours.
My cat ingested garlic, I was told by the nurse”its no big deal” garlic is toxic to cats- we did not stay, aspca says differently-
Excellent practice, especially Dr. Pierce, who helped take care of our cat with heart failure during the last two months of his life. Her and her staff were wonderful to him. Highly recommend Blue Pearl.
I dont usually write online reviews, but I feel the need to voice just how wonderful the staff was at Blue Pearl in Waltham. I brought my very elderly, grumpy Shih-tzu here to be seen by an ophthalmologist, and everyone from the front desk staff, to our nurse to our vet were outstanding. They treated my dog like their own and even though he doesnt do well with exams, they somehow got him to tolerate the whole thing. They were up front about costs, but most importantly they were so compassionate to my dog. We will definitely be coming back!
I went there to get a CT done. It took three different calls and 25 minutes to schedule the appointment. That should have been my first clue. Finally scheduled, they gave a quote but exceeded the quote by 20% without authorization. Then they called the wrong number for pickup. At pickup the vet was rude and unprepared. He called two days later and was even more rude saying that I should be thankful for the extraordinary care he provided even if it was more than the quote. I live a mile from here and will go to another vet in the future. I do feel they care more about money than the animals.
Prompt appointment and care. Staff and Dr Whitely were so compassionate, took time to explain all options for my dear Tucker and I can not say enough good things about Blue Pearl. Thank you for doing what you do. So greatly appreciative.
People were very kind and knowledgeable and friendly to my pet. They helped me through an emergency when my dog a seizure suddenly. Great place for after hours emergency as they are 24 by 7.
Avoid Dr. Zallas if you care about your animal.
They took amazing care of my little pug, were incredibly professional, courteous and made a panicked dog dad feel much better. Anyone who gives this place a bad review needs to get their head checked.
Very expensive but worth it. I was lied to by my vet for 9 months, finally took my dog to see the specialist in internal medicine at Blue Pearl, Dr. Spielman. She told me the truth about my dog and ran the right tests. After a week my dog is much healthier. Thank you very much Blue Pearl!-Ashley & Jaley
Took my cat to Blue Pearl on April 20th. Professional, prompt eye care during the pandemic !
My neighbors dog ate a stick which lodged in his mouth, painfully choking him. We took him to Blue Pearl where they promptly took him to the back removed it with a pair of forceps.A few minutes later they brought him back, all fixed. His owner was overjoyed. When I asked how much, they said No Charge.Performance A+Customer Service - Priceless!!! They made a loyal customer in that 5 minutes.
Good customer service here.
We brought our cat to be put down at Blue Pearl. Each of our encounters with staff were excellent. Dr. Jamie Resnick was especially kind and compassionate. Jamie allowed our cat Olli to stay on the chair in the waiting room area where he was comfortable and she did everything there very gently, very kindly. We could not have asked for a kinder doc.
DO NOT GO TO BLUE PEARL. My Bulldog WALKED in very sick, has very expensive surgery and is given back to me with a dislocated hip. They obviously did it when they weighed her legs down to remove her uterus, a standard practice that is used. They lied and said they had nothing to do with it. It cost another $2500 that we had to pay on top of the uterine surgery, for an injury that they caused. My poor dog now doesnt have use of her back leg, it didnt heal correctly and she has blown out both shoulders because she puts all her weight on them.Sometimes her front leg gives out and she falls on her face. Heartbroking. SHE IS CRIPPLED AND IN PAIN BECAUSE OF BLUE PEARL. I sometimes wish she didnt make it through surgery, ever since then, she has struggled. She is still my big love bug🐶
Unless youre willing to spend alot of money they wont even bother to call you back
Took in and cared for my sick dog with great sensitivity and speed. The prescriptions worked well. Would recommend without hesitation.
I have been here once for emergency services and after my dog was poorly treated in front of my face, I took him home (when they wanted to keep him overnight, yea right) and I should have gone to get a second opinion. Because this hack team improperly treated my dog, 6 months later I found out they did not treat his ear infection properly I had to spend thousands upon thousands at another emergency Vet to have an MRI done and surgery and put my dog through all this, and because they improperly treated my dog the first time at 3 years old he went deaf. This place should just shut down cause they take your money but dont actually help your pets. No stars is what they should get!
Excellent Care. Doctor is Great. Felt they were transparent on Cost. Very professional
We took our very distressed 15 year-old cat, Emily, to VESCONE after an emergency visit to our regular vet resulted in a very dire prognosis, and we did not feel comfortable having her at home all night long without 24-hour care. The clinic is literally 5 minutes from our house, which is very convenient. We were immediately greeted by the receptionist, and a few minutes later, a nurse, who asked us a few questions about Emilys symptoms and then took her in for care. We sat in the waiting room for (maybe) 20 minutes, while the clinicians evaluated her. After the short wait, we were brought into a room where the night doctor, (sorry--I cannot remember her name), gave us a full update on Emily and remained available as long as we needed to answer our questions, (and we had a lot of them). She was upbeat, hopeful, yet honest, which was welcoming after our vet went as far as to recommend putting her down that night--(with all due respect to our vet--he was just advising based on his observations at the time, which showed my cat in severe distress, most likely from my emotional state, driving in the car, and her not being able to walk at the time).Basically, VESCONE has a system that works like a well-oiled machine. Before we left, we knew a range of what we were expected to pay. We were given our first update at 11:30pm that night, which made sleeping a little easier. Two more updates proceeded the following morning and afternoon. We were welcome to visit at any time, and just needed to call ahead of time if we were visiting outside of the designated visiting hours. All the techs, nurses and doctors seemed genuinely compassionate and knowledgeable of their medicine. If I had questions, I knew I could call and speak with either a nurse or a doctor for an update at any time. And now, 3 days after Emilys visit, I know I can call anytime if I still have questions. After reading several of the other reviews, I realize that there is a big financial concern with taking your pet to VESCONE, and understandably so. Yes, it is not cheap to go here, but I felt they were in the range of what we would spend for taking our cat into the care of a 24-hour emergency clinic. The peace of mind we received knowing that she would be cared for by medical professionals is priceless, in my opinion. We could have taken her to Angell Memorial, and maybe saved two or three hundred dollars, but the stress of driving there on Emily was not a risk we were willing to take. In addition, we had a nice surprise when we went to pay our balance, when we were told that we had a credit of over $300.
I was expecting more from this hospital and was disappointed by the staffs attitude and lack of concern after my dog had a grand mal seizure for the first time with me. After he had the seizure, he was acting normally by the time I got to BluePearl, which I learned later is typical for a dog to behave normally within 15 minutes of having a seizure.I explained what happened and the receptionist without knowing it was a seizure and she said Oh, it was probably just an adrenaline rush. The fact that she immediately downplayed what happened was incredibly unprofessional to me, especially given how terrifying and confusing it was to see him go from shaking violently to acting normally. As a receptionist whos meeting people who are upset and scared, she should smart enough to understand that downplaying or questioning what someone sees is only going to come across as insulting. The woman doing the physical exam made comments about how my dog was being stubborn, which really annoyed me after everything I had gone through that morning. It seems like all of the staff need to go to some general customer service training, because they come across as bitter and easily frustrated. The exam was very quick and they offered no diagnosis and only mentioned the possibility of a seizure. Their report was forwarded to my regular vet who immediately he said my dog had had a seizure and there was no question in his mind thats what happened. After getting that diagnosis, I went to a neurologist at Mass Referral Veterinary Hospital in Woburn and she seemed surprised at how little bloodwork and tests BluePearl did. She also immediately discovered that he has a heart murmur, which BluePearl didnt detect two days before. I was really shocked that they would miss something so important.I left BluePearl feeling somewhat negative about my experience, but after the neurologist discovered the heart murmur that BluePearl missed only days before and she seemed surprised by the lack of testing they did, that really made the BluePearl visit feel like a waste of time. I recommend going to IVG in Natick or Mass Referral Veterinary Hospital in Woburn instead if theyre an option, where the staff are positive, informative, and thorough.
I give them 3 stars because I do think the service was good. The doctors and staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Facility was clean. And ultimately (most important of all) they took care of our dog.The downside: Price. This was an incredibly expensive visit. Almost $800!Here are the details: Our dog is diabetic and he was acting in a way wed never seen before (having seizures). We are new to the area and didnt know where else to go. And quite frankly not having time (dog having seizures) we went with the first thing that came up.Turns out it was extremely low blood sugar. Essentially, they put him on an IV and said they should monitor him overnight. This made sense. After all, what if it wasnt diabetic related? What if the blood sugar was coincidence? And for this, they charged us nearly $800. The only offer to help was a get a line of credit - which we cant do, due to trying to buy a house. So, now that Ive had time - I called our old vet in Nebraska. After describing the entire incident to them - they said it might cost about $200-$300 for a hospitalization. While I get that there are price differences between states (believe me, I know, we are trying to buy a house in MA!), this was just ridiculous.Think about it. Dog was on an IV and basically sat in a cage all night. Sure, they probably kept an eye on him and took him out and maybe fed him. They also checked his blood sugar a couple times. But - is that really worth nearly $800? I think not.Weve had more complicated hospital bills for a human that cost less.Needless to say, we will be looking into insurance for our doggie, but due to the move, havent had time.Recommendation: If you have time - get prices and go someplace else that wont charge and arm and a leg. If you do go here, be prepared to pay through the nose.We will not be going back here due to this. They got our money once, but it wont happen again.

It SUCKED!!!! It is about MONEY!!!!! And if you have a distressed animal donotgo there unless you have literally THOUSANDS TO BE PREPARED TO SPEND AT TIME OF VIST.......... This place is all about the money and absoutley not abouthelping animals. I cannot believe how these vets who work there are TOTALY DISCONNECTED TO ANYONE LEAST OF ALL ANIAMALS......THIS IS WHAT IT COSTS IF YOU CANT PAY OH WELL! YOU NEED TO GO ELSEWHERE.......BOOYAY!!!!! Its is all about the money. you have to pay up front, if you dont have the money they give you a credit card application .
They refused to take a sick little kitten and told me to drop it off some place else. This place is Def all about the money.
The wait is forever and if you step out for a second you lose your spot in line. Apparently you’re supposed to just sit here for hours for no reason.
Kind, considerate and welcoming.
Shame on you

Had previously had good experiences here. This time, the doctor who had charge of my cat the first night he was hospitalized seemed set on euthanizing him. After discharge, we were left with 2 pending lab results. I called to get the results and discuss how he was doing. Nine hours later, I called again. The doctor finally called back (during an appointment I told the front desk I would be in), and then immediately left. When I called back 15 minutes later, I was told “she’s gone, and the doctor who is on now says sorry for the phone tag. You can call back tomorrow.” If you’re going to call families back 2 minutes before you leave work, maybe brief the other doctor on staff about the case so they can answer questions. I’ll be going elsewhere from now on.
