Like others have said, I have to give 1 star to post. If there were any other viable option for internet I would gladly pay more for it. Customer service is practically nonexistent. Been lied to several times when I actually do wait hours to talk to a person. Now they are trying to get Franklin County money to expand their network!? How about fixing what you got? Service is unreliable and slow. Growth is coming in the Franklin County area and our infrastructure is already behind the curve. Blazing fast speeds of 2.5 Mb download this morning.
Construction next door broke my internet fiber optic cable. Century Link says they cannot fix or run a temp line for 11 days. This is ridiculous in today’s day and age. No internet as I work from home. Unacceptable.
This has absolutely been the WORST internet I’ve ever had, along with the customer service. My internet has been out for over a week. Called on Saturday and set up an appointment for the technician to come out through the robot, called this morning, was on hold for an hour and a half, when someone answered they hung up. Called back was on hold for another 45 minutes before finally getting a live person only to be told the technician cannot get out until Aug 3 2021.Please please please do not use this company.
Last week I tried to get a modem replacement that keeps going out. Note: This modem has been causing problems for a year now with no resolution. Tech came out said I needed a replacement but didnt bring one with him. Anyway, they had me speaking with 10 people trying to get a modem. TEN! Kept getting sent back and forth between areas from customer service to parts to tech support. You name it. I even spoke with someone who identified himself as a supervisor per my request. Now I have 2 modems sent to me that do not fit my setup with no return labels. Nada. I was going to go on person but I see I cant by these reviews. So my only option at this point is to pay to send them back. Pay for something thats not my mistake. Last time I deal with CenturyLink. They used to be responsive and good but now...meh is as good as I can say on a review. Will look elsewhere. PS to this review: I tried online too and didnt get anywhere either. Its all a joke!
Will be switching providers ASAP - Internet goes out constantly (3x a week or more) - takes them 12 days just to get a tech out to look at it & when they arrive they never have what they need. 50% of the time they fix it and leave and it goes out 2 hours later.No idea why we are still paying for this, will be really happy to switch to Spectrum.
I have to give a star to post but I absolutely give them 0 out of 5 stars!!! In mid May I ordered increased internet services at my home and paid for the installation fee with a wait time of 2 weeks for my scheduled visit. It is now July 12th, I have had a 5th technician canceled appointment. This time I saw the van pull up and quickly turn out the long driveway with me chasing him down the driveway. I texted the technician service number and he replied with yes sorry, I didnt see any house numbers but you dont qualify for increased services. 5 appointments and countless hours on the phone with representatives from all over the world to finally hear that I indeed do not qualify for increased services . CenturyLink was difficult to deal with before covid and all the outsourcing but it is now just atrocious how the lack of communication within the company is handled. 5 days of missed work either burning up my saved time off or sick hours just to be told that I cannot be helped, compensated, or directed to my local branch even for answers or resolution. I was never called from a technician about not being able to find my house. We have very few options for services but I will have to start the process of finding another one.

We had CenturyLink internet in Edgecombe County NC. We rarely had issues and we could have multiple devices connected at the same time and still stream movies. We moved to Nash County NC, near Castalia, and the service is absolutely HORRIBLE! It goes out numerous times a day every day. Some days its so slow you cant even check emails, others it turns off so frequently you cant do anything. CenturyLink keeps saying they dont have any outages in our area. Im seriously contemplating signing up for Starlink, even though it wont be available in our area for a couple months. The state AG is investigating SuddenLink for their horrible service and customer support. He needs to investigate CenturyLink also.
This company has gone so downhill.Weve had them for several years. When we tried to contact customer service, what a joke. You constantly get a non human, trying to answer your questions and it just doesnt work. My husband was on the phone for an hour and got nowhere. I told him to just go to the nearby offices (well, thats a joke too).They have a great facility near our home, which used to handle human customer service. Well, now that is all locked up, no admittance to the building. This is TERRIBLE and I, for one, will report to the FTC. These companies cant just do whatever they want with no regard to customer service.
Ive called 3 times trying to figure out why our message system isnt working and was told that Sharee didnt have access to our North Carolina # told me I was going to be transfrered to someone who does and got hung up on. Dont go through this company.

The slowest speeds of internet I’ve ever had. We had a tech person come out and they said everything was fine even though I’m getting 0.26 download and 0.32 upload.
I wish I had never signed up with this company for both my business and residential. Its almost impossible to get anyone on the phone. Online is no better, every icon I press sends me back to the original sign in page. My home internet has been out for 3 weeks. When they sent the service tech out,( between the hours or 10am and 7pm I was told) I wasnt home...as I work for a living and dont just sit at home. No repair was done, and still not internet at home. Now they want me to buy a new router from them at $200 with out knowing if that is the problem or not. No one will come back out, they want me to stay on hold and press 50 buttons to get a tech guy on the phone with me to install the new Router I bought on my own before they will send someone back to my home.NOW my business account has doubled from $69 a month up to $127.38 with out notice and this has been auto drafted. After FINALLY getting a person on the phone, they had me resign a 2 year contract to get my monthly bill to $81.40 per month for internet only. Weird since my home internet is ony $50 a monthDONT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU DONT HAVE TO

I called for new internet service at 10:44am and some guy answered who immediately seemed as if he didnt want to help. I was on their website and it said my area could only get a speed of 6mbs. Whats the point of even offering service Iat that speed? I called to check if that was accurate and the guy said if it said it on the internet, then that was the speed. He didnt even try to look up my address to confirm and could care less. Sounds like this place is only in business because it has no competition in certain areas. It would suck to have to deal with them.
I have had them for years and I get max of 10mbs which is not enough for what I use on the internet. Sometimes I do some internet speed tests and it gets below 1mbps. I do not recommend!!!Edit-Months later I still have the same issue with super low speeds. I call and they send someone out and they say that it’s normal. The WiFi modem has to be reset multiple times a day and even then it is below what I’m supposed to get. Once again I urge everyone to look elsewhere for a WiFi provider. I have no choice because I live in a rural area.

So far not so good. Ive spoken to three people in a foreign country. The first told me internet service wasnt available in my area. (All the neighbors use it.) The second told me it was available and quoted me a good price. I was in the process of setting it up and we got disconnected. I waited to be called back because I was told that would happen in case of disconnection, but it didnt. The third person I called told me what the first did: that internet service was not available at my address. So I want to visit an in-person office, but there doesnt seem to be any anywhere. This may be the only option where I live, which could explain this poor customer service. Grrrr.
This was our only internet option when we moved. First attempt to set it up was cancelled by representative at the last minute after we took off work and waited until 3 for someone to show up. Then once we were up and running after 2nd install appointment the service was HORRIBLE! I mean I had Hulu running through the Roku and tried to surf the web on my phone while sitting IN THE SAME ROOM as the router/modem and both couldn’t be done at the same time. This is after paying $99 install fee to get with the fastest internet available. Cancelled after one month!

The technicians who review in the field say otherwise. All we can receive is 10 MB Internet. Wow. Thats a change from fiber optic network with 100 mb speed and nice TV.Oh and two houses down they have this service... which I brought up...A bunch of incompetent people work here.Edit. We live less than FIVE MILES from their southeast headquarters. In a development built 5 years ago. If you cant service this close to your own headquarters your business is faulty. Just wow..
Cannot get any help from customer service. They keep you on hold for thirty minutes 😠 or more. Then they still cannot help you. Have to transfer you to another person. On hold again for thirty minutes.
Land line support blows big time. Reported problem of no dial tone. Trouble was traced to where a development was going in, some problem with trunk cable they spliced into for the new development.They closed my service ticket without verifying I had dial tone. Turns out they had an error in their wiring records. Had to file another trouble ticket. Adding insult to injury, got my phone bill and Im charged $10 for two calls to 411 (did you know a 411 call was $5?) during -- yes DURING -- the time I had no dial tone. Try to call cust support was told a minimum of a 50 minute wait. REE. DICK. YOU. LOUSE.

I have been calling for 2 days trying to get internet and phone disconnected for my mom, after being on hold for 2 hours yesterday they disconnected me and today I have been disconnected 3 times in total and literally on hold for more than 4 hours.

It takes a week to get your land line repaired when there is no dial tone. Forget about weekend service. When telephones were a utility, repair service was next day, sometimes same day. The service people are nice, but CenturyLink service policy sucks.

Horrendous experience with this $hit company! Had their fiber optic internet for 5 days, all of sudden it stopped working. When I called customer service, I was transferred 5 times until I was told that it was billing issue (account was prepaid, so bull$hit) and it would start working. When I had to call the second time to find out whats going on, I was transferred 6 times with no resolution!!! Piece of $hit company!!Be aware

My fiancé and I set up an appointment to have our WiFi serviced due to an animal chewing one of the wires. They cancelled our appointment because there was an outage elsewhere. If we have an appointment WE SHOULD BE SERVICED FIRST. Whether two people are without WiFi or 20 people are without WiFi. We had an appointment....
WOW what a waste of time...Received phone call from an agent, telling me how much money I can save buy using Century Link business service..It is all BS..Spectrum might be a little more money, but worth it. After the install I had to call back over and over telling them it is to slow..Thats when they informed me I can only get 10 mbps..What a scam to get you to switch, so I am back with Spectrum and all is great again..

I called a 919 number and got kicked out to someone on the west coast.Long story short....they couldnt come that day and wanted to reschedule for 3/23. Told them to cancel anything I had agreed to.Called spectrum. 10 minutes, I’m off phone and they will be here TOMORROW to set my internet up (same price w a bundle deal by the way)

This place really sucks!!! Called in 2 weeks ago due to our internet being so slow that nun would pull up on our tv/phones called the automatic thing said I’m suppose to be getting 8-10 mbs but was only getting 4. They sent a guy out claimed it was a messed up wire an claimed he fixed it. Hasn’t been working right since then so I call again tonight same issue our internet isn’t showing but 4 mbs an the lady I spoke to was very rude an said oh it should still be working fine even with 4 mbs ummm negative it is not!!! Said they would send someone out tomorrow but if theirs something wrong that we would have to pay a fee to fix it. Umm no I don’t think so. I’m not paying for something that they can’t even fix correctly!! I’m going to give them the chance to fix it tomorrow if not I’m definitely canceling their services.
I could not get any service CL said because DSL was not available so no order was placed in Oct. 2016, yet They sent my address to a collection agency Called IC Systems and a bill for $301.11 for service I never received. CL called it termination fee and I never received anything because of their technical problems. CL never sent me a bill and turned it over to this a collection agency. How crude and unreal to a potential customer.

I spent so many hours with Customer Service its ridiculous. How do these people stay in business? It would take a book to write this review properly with all the things that went wrong and the lies they told. After 2 weeks on the phone with Customer Service and talking to 17 people and that was on on ONE DAY, I finally got them here, the first guy, Claude, said Internet was working and he had tested it and NOTHING was hooked up. The 2nd guy was awesome, he made up for the first guy but had to come twice. I gave them a bad review and had Ivory Williamson on the case who said that I would get money off my bill, install fee waived, hookup fee waived. Well, do you think Ive heard from him again?? NOPE. But I have the emails and the chats!! But with the way they lie, and the hours spent on the phone, is it truly worth pursuing??? OMG what a nightmare they are!
Nothing. I spoke with someone about what to do to cancel my service. When he found out I was going to twc he said I feel sorry for you. Youll be back because prism is so much better. He said Ill wave the cancellation few but dont worry youll be back for prism. Well now I called and they refused to give me Adam. I didnt ask to cancel it but I just got an email that its being canceled. I didnt authorize that. Horrible. Will never have century link again.
I have CenturyLink prism TV and Internet service. The service has been awesome but I am moving and it is not available at my new house so Im going to miss it
Horrible customer service. I have had so many issues with billing and technicians. No body knows what is going on inside the company. Technicians arrive no where close to the scheduled time and no body knows where they are. Bills are always higher than quoted and no one cares until you threaten to cancel. Then they will lie, lie, lie to try to keep you with them.I beg anyone thinking about going with Century Link dont walk, run the other direction! I never writes reviews, but they are so bad I dont want anyone else to go through what I have been through. I am very very patient person, and they pushed me to my limits.
If I could give them a 0 if I could. Ive spent hours and hours on the phone with customer service. They screw up every order and I have to call back multiple times. Not one rep gets it right even though theyre polite. My bill was supposed to be reduced to $125 and I got a bill for $355. My service has been out several times for up to 5 days and Im told they just dont have enough technicians to handle the volume. That means no Internet or TV. Its hopeless and appalling and no attempt is made to make it better. Chose another provider.
Linda the store rep in Wake Forest has deceptive sales practices to have you sign with them. I was lied to and told that my direct tv service would not require a dish as it would be fiber optic. This was my sole question to her when inquiring about services and the only reason I committed. As I review this company further, there is a clear reason why they have a two star rating.

Maybe the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We have been waiting over 3 months for our permanent service line to be installed and buried. Repeated attempts have been met with the next available time is 14 business days. If I had any other options I would switch to another provider immediately. If you have a choice, I wouldnt recommend CenturyLink.
45 min wait time. First time I called and they tried to help me set it up because it was failing. So they told me it would be a week before they get a tech out here to check it. They tell me Tues and the guy come monday. And says its all clear. And it wasnt. I was highly irritated at that point. And told them they need to come on the day as scedualed. So they did that. Came out and the first tech never checked the rear outside box. This tech was a boss he knew his stuff and was super friendly and helpful. And was able to get me on in no time. Hopefully no more complaints in the future.
Trying to buy Centurylink internet, cant get the people at the Wake Forest NC office to answer the phone at 0955 a.m., and the website says their hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Have been trying for over an hour. If their service is this bad just trying to give them my business, imagine how bad it would be if I had their service and had a problem.
I arrived on Thursday around noon and the retail store was was closed. I walked in the doors were not locked but was told the store decided to close at the last minute. I checked the web site before I left and it did not mention about closer. They said they closed because of hurricane but this is crazy because it will not be hear until For another 24 hours and the parking lot was fill with other employees. It has been mostly sunny all day today. Two workers did approach me a said they did not work in department and would not sign for anything. This company does not care about customer service. They have lost me as a customer for 27 years.Just had it.
The people that work the front are not that friendly. I’ve been in twice. The first time not one person was even at the front. I had to wait for someone to come back into the room. The second time one was on a very long phone call and the other seemed like she didn’t want to be there. Very short with me and never smiled.
I have been with this company for 10 years, even when they were Embarq. I have had nothing but lies been told to me for the last past year. I have never miss a payment even when I had to go 3 weeks with no Wi-Fi or cable. I call to lower my bill and everything seem ok, that is until I get the bill and see its the highest bill I have every had in the 10 years, I am done!!!!!!!!!!! Now I was told I am not in a contract and there is no cancel fees. Lets see what happens.
After dealing with Time Warner for so long, I didnt think I could be more frustrated with a internet/phone company until Century Link. For some reason they cant seem to tell if they service our address or not. We waited a whole day for them to come, no one showed. Still giving them a chance, I called again, rescheduled. Waited again until the very end of the day for some guy to tell me they dont even service the area. This delayed us and we didnt have internet for the first week we were open. Tried to get our deposit back and that was a nightmare. Kept saying that they will send in a case report. I still havent heard anything and I still have not gotten my deposit back. As a new business owner, every penny counts and it sucks to have wasted it on such a horrible experience and company. I dont typically write reviews but like I said I didnt think I could be more frustrated until now. Very disappointed and unfortunately Im with time warner again.

Switched from TW because of the same issues, but CentryLink is just as bad, quoted me one price then bill came in much higher. Called and could not get it changed and gave no explanation. They missed install date by two days, modem did not work properly the first 6 weeks. Dont trust them, if you think you are getting a better deal than TW, dont do it. Disappointed to say the least.

Prism TV freezes, gets out of sync, if you record in HD you cant watch anything in HD, you have to watch in SD. Customer support is a BIG disappointment for internet, instead of trying to fix the problem they want you to do a speed-test which shows that you are getting in excess bandwidth of what you pay for. If you ask for an explanation of why the internet is as slow as dial-up, they say our equipment is working just fine, it must be your computer. To sum it all up, it SUCKS.
YOU CAN ACTUALLY TALK TO A LIVE PERSON!! Try doing that with Time Warner Cable.. Of course the reviews are going to be bad, anytime someones internet goes out they will leave a negative review. We switched from TWC, overall the service has been faster, more reliable and we can talk to a real ENGLISH speaking person.. not Durka Chip Ghandi in India as it seems with TWC every time you call their CS. Every now and then wed have a service outage which is why 4 stars out of 5. Overall very pleased.
Very VERY disappointed in centurylink I left TWC after being with them for many many years. I got tired of my bill going up month after month until I would have to call and tell them to just turn off my cable. Then my husband got sick stage 4 kidney cancer. I had to cut out a lot of the bills i had and cable was one of them. At first i just tried to go internet and phone with TWC they said I couldnt do it because they didnt have just internet and phone. I even told them about my husband. Well I ended up going to centurylink they promised a locked in price of 65.00 and some change I cant remember how much. So I said yes and switched Then I got my first bill 194.73 I freaked then called them they said it was some kind of first time charges and i wouldnt see them again the charges that is. So I payed it and got a quote on the exact amount my next bill would be. I told them I am on a budget now and I need to know exactly how much it is going to be so i can work it in. They said my next bill would be 71.90 for internet and phone. My bill comes in and it is 101......... Not to mention My first scheduled installation nobody showed or called. So i called them and they said I wasnt even on the books...... Well 500.00 some odd dollars later I am back with TWC. Install charges for both companies Wow what a mess. Talk about kicking someone while they are down. SMH Sorry but I cant even give them 1 star.

I cancel services with century link in February of this year, but before i cancelled it i called to make sure there wasnt going to be any surplices and every time i called they said that i could cancel at any time and there wasnt a contract or anything. Well its May now and i just got a $128 bill for canceling the services.I dont know whats wrong with this people.
