Captain Leonard stepped in for us when another Captain we had booked had engine trouble. My family and I were a little unsure of how the trip would go with a new Captain and boat. We arrived thinking wed take a cruise then stop at a waterside restaurant for dinner as was agreed with the other Captain but when we arrived the Capt. Leonard had ordered dinner to go. After talking I realized he hadnt been told what the other Captain had offered. Captain Leonard apologized for the misunderstanding and then (this is were the five stars come in) went to work doing everything humanly possible to make sure my family and I had an enjoyable trip. We hadnt brought anything to drink thinking we were going to a restaurant so the Captain ran off and got a cooler full of ice and filled with drinks while we waited for our food to be prepared.On the cruise he spent time telling us about the area and the local fishing, answered all my questions about his boat and boating in the area. Being an avid boater myself I enjoyed every minute. He spent extra time on the water to make up for the time we waited for food. This was far more than would have been required to fulfill the 3hrs we had paid for and I appreciated it very much. We watched as the sun set, watched dolphins play and got to see the lights of Virginia Beach from the water. In short this skipper worked his rear off for us and it made for a very fine night.

Such a beautiful day, this guy is awesome!!! Brian did an amazing job! It was my first time offshore and he put me on some fish. Two spearfish and one white marlin. I don’t think you can beat that on your first go round. He is very patient, skilled and excellent at his craft. It’s fun to watch him work. I would highly recommend him for a charter. I felt completing at home and comfortable on the boat! I hope to go back out on the waters with him here soon because it’s that time of the year again !! Thanks Brian 🙂

My wife and I have been on Captain Brians boat once or twice a year for about the last 5 years. Always very professional and he knows how to pick the best mates. He is a Marlin expert. We have caught Maui Maui, blue marlin, white marlin, black fin tuna and yellow fin tuna. At certain times, when the tuna are ready. He will pull out a kite and kite fish. Nothing is more exciting than seeing a yellow fin tuna jumping out of the water and smacking your bait. We have always had a great time fishing with Captain Brian!

Fishing with Brian Leonard has to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life! Not only did I feel safe and comfortable but we caught a whopper tuna! It was the largest one ytd to be brought in to Pirates Cove! And much credit goes to Brian for his expertise with the boat helping the angler get it aboard. It was awesome! Highly recommend for a great experience!

We booked a charter with another captain but due to some issues we ended up fishing with Captain Leonard. He was gracious enough to take us on a day before we were set to sail. He and his mate Matt, met us on time and made us feel welcome. We fished for a little more than 4 hours (Captain Leonard gave us extra time) and we caught fish the whole time. Everything was very easy and we had a great time. We would definitely fish with Captain Leonard again.

Had the opportunity to fish in an offshore tournament with Capt Brian Leonard and had an awesome experience. Brian is not only knowledgeable but super down to earth and does his best to get you on the fish. That day we ended hooking up with a nice Marlin. Would definitely book again

Brian is the marlin whisperer. We had a great day on the water and he worked hard to keep us on the fish all day. Very friendly and made the fishing fun. I had the opportunity to fish with Captain Leonard last year in the WWF Tournament.Our crew was so excited to compete & the girls were ready to catch some fish ! Captain Leonard has a passion in putting you on some some fish ! We came across a school of Mahi. The girls had a blast reeling them in. I had the great opportunity to take Captain Brian out of OBX for my 50th, he was captaining the Swordfish at the time. Dredging issues with the Oregon inlet made getting in and out real challenge for all Captains, Brian knew where to go to get us in and out safely! We all had a great time with Brian he was professional and exceptional captain in rough conditions. My wife, daughter and my best friend and his wife were aboard, because the fleet was having a tough time finding Tuna and after Brian put us on mahi he asked if we wanted to change gears and go after marlin, my best friend on board said yes its a bucket list fish for him so soon after leaving the no tuna fleet we caught a white marlin! Citation fish for my best friend. Late in the day we got the girls some action on AJs getting to have the hard fighting fish wear them out was just a bonus for us! Can’t say enough good things, Brian and me are great friends now 4 years later and talk fishing, boats or just how’s the family conversations every chance we get! We are looking forward to being on the C level with him soon!
