I regret recommending my son to work with therapist Douglas Green. I selected him based on his impressive website and the fact that he and I both went to Marymount University that has an excellent Psychology program. I found it odd when my son told me that although therapist Green is himself a recovering drug addict, he has shared with him that he drinks alcohol. I found therapist Green to be cold and disinterested when with my sons permission I had reached out to him for help in managing a mental health and addiction crises. My son had begun articulating suicidal thoughts to our family and his friends. Therapist Douglas did not think it was important to have an urgent session with a suicidal client, nor did he bother giving me necessary resources to help guide me through the rapidly escalating crises. Not only did he delay the emergency session by a day, he changed his appointment time with my son at the last minute which meant lost opportunity to get him the critical help that he needed because we had arranged for his friends to show up as well to encourage him to check himself into psychiatric ward or detox with Douglass professional expertise. Douglas did not show any empathy when my son ended up in psychiatric ward after being revived from a near fatal overdose. I am so glad that my son is in a better place mentally and has connected with an amazingly caring substance use disorder therapist now. I am shocked to learn that Douglas encouraged my son who to experiment with acid because it will expand his horizons. I have never heard of substance use disorder counselors recommending clients with mental illness and/or substance use disorder to procure and consume non-approved drugs. Maybe its a new treatment modality I have not yet heard of.
