Ernies did a great job of cleaning up the pieces and parts of my total loss car and transporting it to their car wreck lot. A few days later I went there to pick up my belongings and take pictures.

This towing company was great. When I called, they were at my car within 20 minutes which is unheard of these days. I had the car towed to their service center where I am awaiting the repairs. Will provide review of the repairs in a separate rating. So, far I am happy.

If could give this company 0 stars I would have. They have lack communication and professionalism! On one of the biggest snow storms of 2021 my husband car was stuck in the snow on the expressway. I already had a tow truck that was coming but instead this tow truck stops my husband didn’t tell him no fees or where he was taking me UNTIL he hooked my car. The tow I originally call pulled up and he told me he wouldn’t unhook my car unless I gave him 150. I was on FaceTime with my husband and I was upset he got the wrong tow and asked to speak to the tow guy . I asked where he was going and he told me “he couldn’t take my car to my house because they were busy and he had to tow multiple cars” after I BEGGED him to take my car home. (My car was 23 minutes away from my house!) he told me he had a job to do and HE HUG UP IN MY FACE AS I WAS TALKING and refused to take my car home. The next day I go in and they tried to charge 250 + 150 to tow from there location which made me so angry because before My husband left they AGREED on 230 and there will be no extra charges !!!! From start to finish my experience with this company was horrible!!!!!!!!

My alternator seized in the middle of an intersection and I pushed my truck into an empty lot. I was able to order a tow while at work and my truck arrived at the garage in less than an hour. I have lived in Vernon Hills for 15 years and I always pasted by the place but never considered these guys for repairs since they mostly have semis that are parked outside. I decided to give it a shot and I dropped off my 2002 Tahoe for an engine job and I couldnt be happier with the final result. Dennis was just awesome with keeping me up to date with the whole repair. He walked me through all the issues they found and made sure everything I needed for the job to be done correctly and right the first time was done. I was worried about the price as most shops charge an arm and a leg but for the amount of work that I had done, it was actually a lot less than the local shops I got quotes from. These guys are top notch and I even got to meet the man behind the work, Matt. He really knows his stuff and is a fellow Chevy owner himself. The truck runs like new and damn does it sound good (thank you Dennis for helping me find an awesome exhaust)! AND I got my truck back a day earlier than expected! I would recommend Ernies to anyone who is looking for great priced and real quality work! Its safe to say I have found my go to shop! Keep up the great work guys!

I work for the transportation department of a global company and we called Ernies needing a tow for one of our drivers whose vehicle wouldnt start, as Ernies was the closest towing company. The customer service rep I spoke to answered the phone as if she was already agitated. She hastily answered a few questions and I felt like I was being rushed off the phone. Working in customer service everyday I know that her behavior IS NOT how one should deal with customers. I then had a billing inquiry, she kept me on hold several minutes while she had her manager assist me. Another rude individual who also seemed bothered by taking the call. On a positive note, the person performing the tow was extremely courteous and did a great job. That individual was the only reason I gave Ernies two stars; unfortunately the reps in the office ruined future business we would do with them. To reiterate, I work for a global company who gives $100k plus a year in business to various companies (towing, limo services, hotel, etc) around the area. And because of the lack of courtesy and professionalism displayed by these two reps, well gladly give our business to other towing companies who do take the time and care with helping us. My advice to their manager (or regional manager(s) if there are any) is to do quality call monitoring, completely retrain their office staff on raising the standard of customer service in order to ensure a professional and hence more profitable company. A few bad apples will definitely spoil the bunch as well as your companys bottom line!

The service tech was working on my car battery within 30 minutes of my call for help. He was courteous, professional and kind on a cold winter evening. He let me warm up in his truck. They are a little pricey, but worth it.

If you have any vehicle repair that needs to be done I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ernies! Our tire blew out, and we are not from this area so Ernies was a shot in the dark. This business is a wonderful locally owned vehicle repair and towing company. My family and I got a ride to Ernies while my husband waited many hours for AAA to finally tow our vehicle to Ernies. The service was excellent and the price of the service could not be beat! I am so very thankful and pleased that we found Ernies Vehicle Repair Services. I only wish we had skipped AAA and utilized Ernies towing services instead. However because we waited so long inside Ernies for AAA to tow our vehicle over, I would like to add; The waiting room is VERY comfortable and includes couches and a small childrens area. Ernies has a wide variety of reading material, cable television with the remote to use, and complementary high-speed WiFi. They also have tables and chairs inside and picnic tables outside. I 100% recommend with out any strings.

Absolutely perfect service. My peterbilt broke down in Antioch (or a name like that) and nobody was willing to tow me to indiana but Ernies. On top of that, they even gave me a great deal and was onsite well faster than expected. I am very appreciative of the courteous service by everyone there and certainly recommend them.

I always call Earnies to rescue my daughter or myself when we have car trouble. Everyone is nice. Ive been rescued twice by a wonderful young man named Chucky. They have repaired my tire when others would most likely try to upsell me a new tire (& installation fee, and balance tire fee, and new stem fee, and disposal fee). I happily pass on the gas station that was built across the street. I purposely buy my fuel from Earnies.

Meijer sells PremiumDiesel that is advertised treated for the winter.None of these places do what Ernies does.I use to drive a Taxi and a Tow driver there told me why they charge so much for Diesel.To offset some of their own tow truck fuel costs.Don’t be taken at the pump.Besides this Ernies is a great place.

SMH!! This a local family owned business I support rather than a big dealership. I have had brakes and other jobs done here. Everyone I dealt with was polite. I received accurate estimates and fast service. No surprises. I also get oil changes here for a lot less than across the street at Jiffy Lube.

Just stopped in to Ernies with a slow leaking tire. They couldnt get to it for repair but did bring it in checked all the tires for air and ask me to come back later. Great service very friendly!

Ive been coming here for years, and never had a single problem. Ive gotten tows, bumps, oil changes, repairs, etc. and never had a more straight forward experience. Never had anything in my car go missing either, unlike some other places Id used in the past. My only regret is moving out of Vernon Hills so I going here in an emergency is a no go, but I still drive the extra distance if Im not in a rush and its safe to do so.

I wanted to get my car wash...a half an hour...not because there were a lot of cars...but because nobody knows how to run that car wash...theres suppose to be a code to enter on the receipt...I get washed every week...NEVER A CODE...Im sick of it...NO MORE SHELL!!!

Picked up a screw in my drivers side rear tire and ended up with a flat on New Years Day. One of the screws ended up stripped when I went to use the hand iron to put on the spare.Earnies gave me a flat quote up front and my tech, Rodney, was fast, professional, polite, and personable. He got the screw off and my spare on, no problem. I definitely recommend their service to anyone.

The drivers are dangerous and run red lights. Then they give you the finger when you honk to call them out on it. My vehicle will never be in their hands as it would probably fall off the truck with the way they drive.

My car just stop working in the middle of the road so a police stoped and recommended me this mechanic shop. they were already closing and told me they will called me back in the morning. Next morning they told me they couldnt fix it that i had to take it to the dealer. There was nothing else they can do to help me.i had to take my car back home But i was 70 miles away. it was very expensive to tower it back home a friend of mine checked it and in less than 20 min he fixed it they didnt even tried.It was weird because the guy that towed the car told us that they were able to fix everything and he told us that in his opinion he tought that they didnt even tried to fix it because we were far away from home and they just wanted to take money away from us

The lady who takes the call is extremely rude. Very bad customer service. They gave me an ETA of 30 minutes and then changed it to 1.5hrs. I called them after 45 minutes and politely asked her how long and she yelled and hung up. I had no other choice but to wait because there was no one else available in that area. She was taking advantage of my situation being rude.

I had the pleasure of working with Tom from Ernie’s yesterday to get my car towed from my home to the dealership. Not only did they exceed my expectations on timing (less than 1 hour) they were also super professional and efficient. I will use Ernie’s for all my future towing needs.

Have been using Ernies for years. They are honest and really know what they are doing. From oil changes to major work we bring our cars to Ernies.

This place needs to be shut down. Unethical business practices, tries to intimidate other local shops, companies ect. the amount of corruption and bribes going on here are repulsive. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and Lake County Sheriff (who authorized the tow). My car was towed from an accident and they REFUSED to release my vehicle to the body shop or tow company. Both very reputable companies. This cant be legal, I will also be looking into the Illinois Commerce Commission Police to file a complain as well. STAY AWAY.

The male members of the staff I encountered in the repair department were surly and rude. Ill grant you that I was upset over the way a Groupon was handled, but to first be lied to (Mike told me that the had stopped honoring the coupon) and then handled in a surly manor by a second person in authority when I pointed out that there was conflicting information on the coupon is unacceptable. I for one will not do business with these people and would recommend the same stance for those who read this.

They are ridiculous, they are the only ones allowed to tow on this stretch of highway, so they can charge un godly amounts of money, i found out if they show up you can refuse their service and I suggest if these idiots show up refuse service

Why are locking the bathroom when the gas station is 24 hrs. and is also the public restroom for the gas station of Shell. 3:25am Monday morning the restroom was locked up.

This is possibly the WORST COMPANY TO DEAL WITH EVER. They employ the rudest people I have ever encountered. BRIAN will hold your car ransom and say he cant release the car expect for between the hours of 8A-5p IF they have a driver to available to open the gate....well when you call between 8A -5p they say they dont have a driver on premises and cant confirm when they will have a driver present. So we stopped in the next day and again. NO driver is present and one wont be back till after 5p and you will incur another day of charges,On the 3rd day of this scam, lo and behold there was a driver who magically appeared out of the back room after a half hour of paper work. AFTER ALL THAT the driver does not even get your car, he walks over to the gate, unlocks the fence and points to your car and you go get the car. Ernies Auto Towing is TERRIBLE DO NOT USE THEM- THEY are scam artists of the WORST KIND. NOW to boot, this ALL CASH business doesnt have change and only accepts even change in cash. CORRUPT - RUDE APPREHENSIBLE How can this be allowed? Why does the city of Glen Ellyn work with them?

Awful!!!! do not take car there. Took car there for what I thought was a bad alternator. Turns out it was just out of gas and needed a new float. When I didnt wanna pay for it to replaced. It was suddenly discovered that my check engine light was on and my # 3 cylinder was misfiring. Very suspicious!!!!!

Didnt use their services, but they blocked off my street and drove me off the road when i tried to get to my house. the drivers were incredibly rude and didnt seem to mind that i couldve been seriously injured.

Today I called them to get a towing because my truck needed to get to another shop for work to be done, and they said theyd be at my house in an hour even they are 5 minutes from my house.Then I waited 3 hours and 35 minutes for a tow truck and then a tow truck from Chicago arives at my house and tells me because I wasnt getting service done on my truck from Ernies that they didnt want to tow my truck, so they sent a tow truck from Chicago to tow my truck down the street to my buddies shop.. I called last week to verify that they would tow my truck to Finishline Auto and they it would be okay and that it would $150... Now I had to pay more because a TOW TRUCK WAS BROUGHT IN FROM THE CITY OF CHICAGO TO LINCOLNSHIRE IL TO TOW MY TRUCK 3 1/2 MILES DOWN THE STREET... WORST SERVICE EVER.. RUDE PEOPLE WORKING THE SHOP... I DONT THINK THEY DESERVE TO BE OPEN CONSIDERING THE ORIGINAL OWNER USED TO CHOP SHOP CARS AND THEY PROBABLY STILL DO...

The Owner Ernie and his daughter Christina have the worst attitudes in the world and you should never allow them to tow your car or fix it. Charge you a lot of money and still my car is not fix right. Also nothing was wrong with my drive shaft when I took it there then it became a problem afterwards. Never will I referral anybody and wish I could pricket them and make sure they go out of business. So no one should embrace the nasty and rude customer service I went thru.
