Absolutely my favorite tailor. Gail always takes care of me and my clothes. She has mended leather jackets, cloth jackets, shirts, pants and etc. I would never go anywhere else to get my alterations! Hey can make custom clothing, repair, and fix just about anything. Thanks!

My first experience was alright. I really needed to get some of my work cloths mended since they were very big on me. Sew Personal had is rated 4.1 and everything else I looked at had sub par reviews. Which is mainly why I choose Sew Personal. I had a total of 5 dresses that were of normal fabric. It was all a size 3 and I needed it to be a size 0 which you would think is an easy process. However, it her over 2 weeks....and charged me $145. For me the pricing is the most baffling part about my experience,. I understand it is private business and you can charge anything you want, but this place is heavily overpriced. The second time I went, it was even worse. I had 5 articles of clothing and all were a size too big. Again, very simple fabric, nothing too complicated. She told me due to the holiday, it would take her longer, which I was fine with. She charged me $110 to just to take it in. I mean come on, $110??? Way overpriced for something so simple to do. I had a question about the charged and she was very rude over the phone and in person when I first brought the clothing in. She made me wait 10 minutes so she could take a phone call and did not seem to be very apologetic. Another women walked out since she was not even proper;y greeted or even acknowledged. I think her customer service is sub par to say the least. Over the phone when voicing my questions, she told me she had some concerns and said she would call me back. She became very abrasive over the phone when it came to pricing and overall was not helpful. I think I was way overcharged and that should not be the case when running a business like tailoring. Though her work was okay, I think there is definitely some improvement to be made with both pricing, and customer service. Sad to say, I will not be returning customer.

Sew personal is my go-to tailoring/dressmaking shop. The people are so friendly and the prices are reasonable. Everything I have had done there fits perfectly when I get it back. They are true professionals. I highly recommend them!

I highly recommend Gail Jeanette and the entire staff at Sew Personal. Their price for my sport coat alterations were 70% less than the quote at a popular Lake Forest tailor’s shop. Their work is superb and my tailored sport coat fits perfectly.

I’d had a piece that several other places could not repair. By chance I was in the shopping center and stopped in to see if they could fix it. I was greeted by Gail and within 48 hours had the piece expertly repaired. I highly recommend! Great service and. Friendly people.

For anyone in the burbs trying to get something tailored or fitted, I HIGHLY recommend Sew Personal in Vernon hills. Here is my personal experience:I struggle with jeans, I have a really hard time finding skinny jeans that are tight on my legs but fit my waist. After exhausting all other options, trying every plus size store and failing to find anything that fit right, I finally decided to get the last batch I purchased tailored.I brought in 8 pairs, all varying in sizes (some where huge on my legs and some were just a little too baggy), and a sample pair which had actual holes from wearing them so much (I only had 2 pairs that fit right). They used that pair as the sample size and also patched the holes and WOW WOW WOW is all I have to say. Gail did such a good job you wouldnt even know the pants ever had holes in them, they were perfect! And all the other jeans? They fit amazing! They even called me to ask if I wanted additional tailoring to match the waist size and length to match the sample (I originally only asked for tapering). They are super reasonable in price and now I dont have to go jeans shopping for a long time! Now that I know about tailoring, forget how stuff fits - Gail can make them perfect!

Sew Personal is an unique Alteration, Tailoring and Dressmaking boutique. I went in there to have a winter coat and jacket altered. They did a wonderful  job on those items. But, to top it off, Gail Jeanette,  the owner said she could design and make me a beautiful light winter coat that would really fit and flatter my silhouette. Well, she did! We shopped together to select the perfect fabrics and 3 weeks later I have a Gorgeous  suede and leather winter designed and crafted  personally for me!  The ladies there provide  quick and excellent service.  And, the shops name Is correct, Sew  Personal!

I’m so disappointed. I called to make an appointment, they said I needed to just walk in. That was fine, but the lady was not very nice. She seemed rushed and not very friendly. I could care less if the end result was what I wanted. All I needed done was a hem on a bridesmaid dress, no alterations just shortened a bit. First off I had to pay upfront before any work was done and it was $65. Also, i wouldn’t have cared except it took almost a month for my dress to be finished, the wedding is in 3 days and the dress is way too long still. Now I have no time to fix this. I trip on it when I walk and I wore the shoes I am wearing for the wedding to the consultation. Total waste of money and on top of it I’ll need to buy heels now. The chiffon layer on the top is so long and the solid layer underneath is almost too short. I could cry I’m so devastated over this.

Not recommended. I took in curtains to be shortened with my daughters prom dress. When I went in to pick them up, only the dress was done. They had lost the paperwork on the curtains. This was 3 weeks after dropping off originally. Then it took them another 3 weeks to ever shorten the curtains, and this was only after I called twice to ask when they would be ready. And then when I went to hang them up, they are an inch longer than I requested. I did change the length from 86 to 88. What I got was 89.

I wanted to share a great story about this business Sew Personal. I ordered a pair of pants from a retail store that shall remain nameless ordered them 2 weeks in advance so that I can have them measured hemmed and fitted. I went to pick up the pants today and they told me that they need 7 to 10 days and I said I have a wedding Sunday thats not doable. So I ran over to see Gail at See personal and she promised me that everything will be ready by Friday and took all my stress away. This is the third time I have used her business and all I can say is great pricing great quality and most importantly great customer service. Thank you again Gail!

Wonderful service! I needed a long dress hemmed for a wedding. The quality was high, and the dress was finished a day before they originally predicted. Gail has been doing this for a long time, and she’s a trustworthy owner!
