They only have top notch stylist and barbers. Hair has no gender. Alyssa has been cutting my hair for years. She always does detailed work and has a killer fade. She gives you real honest feedback to hair styles that work well with your head and face! This is her craft your hair represents her work so she would never let you leave looking a mess. Coming to Floyd’s is like visiting family who gets you looking good and feeling good again to go back out into the world and tackle life.

My grandson needed a haircut and I felt their prices were too high for a childs haircut with a design cut in the side that looks like lightning oh but a very simple lightning design. They were nice on the phone and helpful theyre located in Melody farms in Vernon Hills

I’m a child of the school of rock and this place definitely fits the bill.Checks all the boxes including (most importantly) a great cut at a competitive price. Bonus points for very, very courteous customer service, discounts on my next cut, kick a** atmosphere with great tunes and decor. The walls are covered in a collage of rock history from Led Zeppelin to Nirvana to Soundgarden and on and on. It was like they cut up all of my Rolling Stone magazines and covered their walls with it...... like I did in college. It’s worth it just to come and see this cool vibe.Wish there was a productive reason to hang out there and they should probably have a bar. Would I get free cuts if they like the idea for this new revenue stream?Extra credit for an app that you can book appointments AND LISTEN TO THE LIVE STREAM OF ROCKING TUNES 24/7!!!Not ashamed to say it’s one of my favorite MUSIC apps!!Rock on, Floyd’s!!

I go to this location exclusively for myself and my three boys. We book all of our appointments with Erin. Always accommodating, offers suggestions to questions and fun to chat with. Location is clean, and staff is always polite and attentive. Highly recommend this location, and especially Erin!

Overall my haircut was satisfactory but my grievance with this establishment is the overwhelming amount of bookings I have to do to get my services done.My experience started with my design appointment with Rae D and my overall dissatisfaction with this location. We talked about what I wanted done and she suggested strongly against what I wanted, which I appreciate if I wasnt going to end up with a good result. The appointment only got worse when after the fact Rae got disgruntled and chimed out about how she didnt have anything else to do and insinuated that I wasted her time. I was then seated with the next stylist which during this I could overhear Rae talking to the other stylist in the back about her experience with me. I dont believe speaking ill about a paying customer while theyre still there is at all professional.I dont expect an apology and just want everyone to know that professionalism isnt what this establishment offers. Definitely do not recommend this location based off the bad customer service and I suggest that staff work on their customer service skills.

Unfortunately they are not the friendliest. I had an appt for myself and son, and their stylist could not make it in - which is ok. I asked if they could accommodate and nope - apparently Nick said they were too busy, which is fine, I will take my family’s business to another location. Not a problem.

This was my second time at Floyd’s and I just love everything about this place. It is very hip & trendy, as the cool kids say! My reason for switching to Floyd’s is because my stylist of 7 years, Michelle G, who is a remarkable stylist by the way, started working at this location, so I just had to make the transition. And so far, I have been very impressed and pleased with the service that I have received. I did notice that there are 2 Barbers at this location, so I may take advantage of that someday. But overall, I am happy with the switch, and again, Michelle is awesome-sauce, as the youths say these day!

First time in a Floyds. Walked in, serviced in 6minute wait and the entire time it was pleasant, fun, and professional. The complimentary first-time customer massage was great and the haircut was sharp. One of the few places that can actually nail a military high&tight just right! Well worth the visit and the Refresh product was awesome for shorthaired guys like myself.

Very nice hair cut experience. Huge collage of pop music icons on both walls in main area. Really liked the atmosphere. Barbers are well organized, and very skilled. My first time to a unisex salon/barber shop, (dont exactly know what to call it) but my hair cut and beard trim turned out great.This is the place in Vernon Hills to get your Alt look professionally did.Im not local to this shop but when I need a trim, and Im around Ill definitely be stopping in.Making an appointment is probably better that just dropping in. I was fortunate enough to be going in when they were experiencing a lot of cancellation.

I was very wary of going to a barber/salon place. I havent been in years because every time I would go somewhere I would tell them what I wanted, how my hair was, and the stylist could careless and do their own thing with my hair. Then Id have to pay a crazy amount for something I didnt even like. A lot of my co-workers go to Floyds and their hair always looks great. Vanessa made me feel at ease, and she did an AMAZING job. For 30.00 bucks I got my hair cut, warm neck shave, shoulder message and since it was my first time I got a free shampoo. It was amazing and they style of the place is so cool! I loved it so much and I will be returning again!

Vanessa is amazing! She is very professional and friendly. She is also great with my 5 year old son. He always enjoys getting his haircut with her. Also, the staff is awesome too.

Had an appointment for a haircut day before a major interview with a client and was told my appointment was canceled due to being 11 min late. Apparently getting stuck by a train at 60 and Butterfield means you don’t get your haircut as you had arranged. Won’t be coming back again.

I honestly had higher hopes in terms of customer service with this shop. Specifically due to all the five star Google reviews. The service at the front desk was awful. The young lady with the nose ring had absolutely zero customer service etiquette. As a potential customer of this establishment I had a few reservations around booking, as anyone would in search if a new barber in a new area. Anyone who has invested the time to grow a beard would want an experienced barber vs one right out of school practicing on them especially if that individual has to make a presentation or has an important event in the near future. I understand everyone must learn. However, in certain circumstances, one has a need for a seasoned professional. When asking for a seasoned barber, I was met with, “Everyone here is a trained professional,” and in an appalled expression almost as if I insulted her profession and everyone in the shop. As you may know, just because everyone is trained doesn’t necessarily mean they have the same skill set. More importantly her statement generalizes all of her colleagues. There may be a barber here with exceptional talent however is shadow by her words. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you have not been recommended to a specific barber here. Otherwise its the luck of the draw! In my case I couldn’t get past the front desk.

OVERPRICED! When I asked, they rudely admitted that they do not have actual barbers working there. What a joke.

Ive been to many barbershops before trying to get the haircut that Ive been looking for. Finally I hit the jackpot at Floyds! Amanda was super fun and she did what I was expecting to get, Ill be a regular costumer for sure! The atmosphere at this place is really cool, made my appointment online, waited for less than 5 minutes. Because it was my first time there, I received the full treatment and I have to say that I loved it!

From start to finish, the staff at Floyds did an amazing job of keeping all staff and customers safe and informed. They worked miracles repairing my sons and my home (quarantine) haircuts.

The lady that cut my hair had no idea what a taper was when I asked her, but she proceeded to cut my hair anyways, instead of asking for help she continued making it worse, one of the worst haircuts I’ve had. Even the stylist next to her tried giving her pointers and she didn’t listen and continued thinking she was right. I would not recommend this place what so ever, they still had me pay for my haircut even tho they could hear the anger in my voice. I’ve also gotten tapers my entire life and the longest it ever took was 45 min and at Floyd’s it was over and hour and a half.

Im just leaving this review to those who it is relevant to:I dont believe that they know how to cut thicker, straighter Asian hair. Im sure they cut other types of hair excellently, but my brother just came back from here (hes not very particular about his hair, so he was just a little disappointed). His haircut was definitely uneven and looked barely on par with other 5$ haircuts hes gotten elsewhere...for the near-30$ price point, this is just plain bad. I personally was thinking of going, but after seeing his hair I dont think Ill be stopping by any time soon.If youre an Asian person with typical straight, thicker hair, I dont recommend this place. Other Asian stylists who are used to cutting Asian hair are definitely more experienced and will give you a much better cut.

I called ahead of time to verify they were real barbers or just stylists. Lady told me that none of them are certified barbers. If I wanted to go to a stylists I would go to sports clips. They should not be allowed to false advertise it’s a barber shop if they have no actual barbers there. False advertising at its best.There is a distinct difference between a barber and a stylus when it comes to getting your haircut especially when it comes to your face and beard.

Just opened an office Mellody Farm in Vernon Hills and was excited to see that one of my neighbors was Floyds. Jeremy W. did a great job cleaning up my hair and beard. After cleaning up my patients health at Aligned Modern Health, Ill be sending them to Floyds to keep their hair as well aligned as their spines.

Sports clips had a 45 minute wait. Walked into Floyds boyfriend git hair cut & out on 45mins. Looked good. Only place he goes for hair cut.

Its a pity how a business loses the potential of new customers, available seats and available personnel, yet they still stress you if you dont have an appointment, why? A couple of people just talking about some TV show, practically doing anything, I really dont get it.

This shop has gone down tremendously since opening in Vernon Hills. The barbers dress like slobs-and the quality of “barbers’ is down to quality of a cheap Waukegan cost cutters. Very very disappointing. 3 grandchildren have come regularly since opening and it’s gone downhill fast. There was great talent at opening but new hires are untalented.

I had an appointment at Roosters, the barber was extremely late, I had a 915 am appointment. After waiting for 20 minutes I called Floyd’s and immediately left Roosters and got in, Ashley W did a fantastic job cutting my hair and trimming my beard. I will be back for sure. If I could give more stars I would.

Originally I gave this place 5 stars and have been going here since they have opened. Unfortunately last week they decided to give my APPOINTMENT to someone else with out notifying me. When I showed up for my APPOINTMENT they gave me the news but they did nothing to keep my business or make me feel like they actually cared about screwing me over. For this I have decided to take my business elsewhere. In the future if there is conflict with appointments just notify the customers. That’s why you put our phone numbers or emails in your system.
