We used Mikasa, Leo and his crew for remodeling multiple things at our house on the lake. They redid the long retaining wall by the lake, repaired foundation, remodeled 3 bathrooms, redid a large part of the deck, windows, resurfaced concrete & replaced some windows & screens for us. Leo and his team are extremely professional, excellent follow up. We were very concerned about a long distance job (we live in the Dallas area primarily). Leo and Beto were excellent in taking pictures, communicating on progress and staying mostly on time (some unknown things cropped up and during demo and they had to expand scope and did that for us). The work done is of high quality and looks beautiful. I actually invited Leo before we bought the house to take a look at the repair work and he gave us honest, excellent advice (even came on Saturdays multiple times). We had issues with some of the concrete work that was done by them & Leo made sure that the issues were fixed and we were happy. The price was also fairly competitive. Mikasa definitely have the experience, quality of work and customer focus. Thanks Leo and team!Also, forgot to add that when the freeze happened, we were not at the house. Leo & Beto went to the house very quickly to survey any damage (which had nothing to do with the jobs we had contracted them for). Found the pipe leaks under the house and in the attic, pumped out the water, fixed what was needed. We were so glad!

I hired Mikasa to do several projects for a commercial building I own in downtown Tyler. Projects included sheet rock repair and paint, awning rebuilding, window and trim replacement and full exterior paint.After a bad experience with a prior contractor, Mikasa came out to do a bid for me, and I was impressed by the attention to detail in pointing out things the previous contractor didn’t. The owner, Leo followed up with me in a timely manner and gave me some money saving options, which I appreciated.His crew was punctual, and spent a great deal of time making sure everything was done to my satisfaction. Leo also followed up with me to make sure everything met my expectations several times throughout the project. I was really happy with the overall experience and professionalism of Leo and Mikasa Construction, and my building looks wonderful!

We had damage that was done to our home during the last winter storm and looked for a reputable contractor to help with the restoration of our home. We called several companies and some even came to get measurements to get us a quote. Unfortunately, none of those companies came through with a quote with the exception of Mikasa Construction. They came out and by the end of the week we had an estimate to send to our insurance company. From start to finish they kept good communication and worked to get our home in better shape than it was prior to the damage. The owner and his staff were more than polite and professional which made the restoration process easier, even through the minor hiccups that were out of their control. I highly recommend them and will call them again for future projects! In addition, they are bilingual. Thank you for a job well done!!

My wife and I reached out to Mikasa Construction about finishing out the attic space in our home, we had a good idea of what we wanted but had never done a renovation this size before. Leos experience and perception cannot be understated, he listened to what we wanted to get done and told us exactly how he would accomplish it if we went with his bid, he was friendly and straightforward.Once the project started I appreciated that Leo kept in touch with us every step, letting us know when to expect his crews or materials via text or phone call ahead of time so we were informed. His guys were always on time and worked around some of our HOA complications without any issue as well. He quoted us 6-8 weeks to finish the project once framing had started and met that goal with a week to spare, now we have an amazing finished bonus space and office for our home.Were very happy with the outcome and glad we went with Mikasa Construction.

We hired Leo and his crew to repaint the exterior of our 1930s house and they’ve done such a wonderful job. Every inch has been hand painted because of the detailing of our house and it has been done to perfection. We cannot recommend them enough!!! We are also hiring them to remodel our kitchen next. We trust Leo and his crew completely and are more than pleased with their quality of work!Update 3/2021: A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY THAN THE PAINTING. We are still working with MIKASA for our kitchen renovation. It’s been 11 weeks. Despite Leo “promising” the job would be complete last week, it’s not and won’t be this week either. While I will say that eventually the job does get done, it typically does not happen on the first try. Sometimes not the second either. SO MANY errors and redos that cost unnecessary time and money. Leo only showed up to the job site when he was ready for his next draw. We worked with Beto the majority of the time. The rest of the crew knew zero English. Beto is mostly fluent, but not completely. We had to do all the quality checking ourselves as Leo never showed up to observe the quality of the work that was being done unless it was a day he stopped by to pick up a check. As the contractor of the project, that is supposed to be his job. We caught so many errors and shortcuts that were taken. This resulted in things having to be undone and then redone correctly. Their website will tell you they’ll hire all the professionals to complete your project, but it’s the same guy that does everything: plumbing, electric, painting, tile work, etc. He is not licensed in any of those areas. Some of the quality of work along the way for this project has been absolutely maddening. And they’ll leave it just like that unless you call it out. I was pleased with the job they did when painting the exterior of our house. This kitchen remodel has been a completely different story and I would not do it over again with them.

Used Mikasa for a moderate sized project to redo a patio on the back of my house. They were completely willing to work with me to ensure I got what I wanted. Since my husband was about to go to work out of town for 90 days we needed a contractor that we could depend on to not cause me stress or problems. From day one the project went smoothly and was a very pleasant experience. Last year, I experienced what my insurance adjuster bluntly referred to as a “water event.” The damage was severe enough that I was forced to pack up two lifetimes’ worth of possessions, empty the first floor of my house, and move out for three months while the repairs were effected. Finding a reliable and trustworthy contractor can be a nightmare, especially if you live in a rural area. Fortunately, I discovered Leo and Mikasa Construction.What was probably a relatively small job for Mikasa was a major undertaking in my experience. The repairs included removing all the damaged sheet rock, plus the cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen, and installing new flooring, baseboards, doors and door trim, new lighting, new cabinets and granite counter tops, bathroom fixtures, wallpaper and paint, even removal of the awful 1980’s popcorn ceiling.Leo guided me every step of the way, helping me make choices and decisions, and teaching me enough about what was being done that I felt I had chosen the best option for each part of the project.Leo, in my opinion, is a rarity in today’s business world, an honest and principled man. His wide knowledge is readily apparent, and he and his craftsmen are all both talented and conscientious. On every project, Leo wants to do the very best job, because he’s very proud of Mikasa and the reputation they’ve achieved. His goal when each job is complete is for his customers to be completely satisfied with the work Mikasa has done.I feel as though Leo and Mikasa have taken a disaster and given me a completely new home. Mikasa did a great job with our recent small construction project. We had them open up the living space with an 8 foot wide opening in a wall, and remove another small wall. They got back to us very quickly, started and finished work the next week, and followed up to make sure it met expectations. We are very happy with the work they did, and would recommend them to anyone.

Most attentive construction crew Ive worked with. Leo is very professional and explains everything in a clear understanding way. He kept in contact and came out to check the progress of the work. Beto worked hard and diligently to get the task done. He works well with is crew and communicates the progress. He listened to my concerns even while he was finishing up. Addressed it and adjusted as needed as one of my doors became stuck after some foundation repair. I was worried but Leo assured me that Beto will finish the job and fix everything. Beto came through. They want to to the job right and they seem to take pride in their work and respect your home. I have many more projects I will be accomplishing with Mikasa.

Leo has years of contracting experience in the Azalea District. He knows how to get the best subs and how to deal with city hall. We use him because he has outstanding integrity...if something isnt right he fixes it without question.

I cannot speak to their work, but the response is terrible. I went by the office to get a quote on laying down flooring, and was told I would get a call on Wednesday or the latest Thursday to schedule an appointment. No call, so I waited until the following Thursday (still no call) and simply cancelled my request. Not much concern, and no follow up call to at least apologize, so I am left to guess that my job was too small to consider. All I know is that I will not recommend them to anyone. (this is not Kay, but her husband, Terry, by the way).

Did a kitchen remodel plus attic room addition with MIKASA this summer, everything turned out great, Leo and his crew are very good, always on time and super responsible . The projects were done in the agreed timeframes and look great. Leos crew is very good they kept everything clean and tidy at the end of each day. Leo was always responding to my calls and text messages, he always had time to answer my questions, doubts and concerns. I highly recommend MIKASA, we have worked with them twice and we are very happy with their work!

Leo and everyone at Mikasa were very professional, and barring bad weather, they moved the job ahead very quickly. We remodeled my Dads old house, originally built in the early 1900s, depression era, remodeled inside and out on a very tight budget. Mikasa did a great job. My wife and I are very happy. We reqested 3 bids from other Tyler contractors, and Leo with Mikasa was the only one who showed up on time and gave us a bid in a timely fashion. Little did I know that Leo was just getting started impressing me. He followed through with the process from start to finish, and was more than wiling to work within our strict corporate guidelines. I would highly recommend Mikasa Construction!!! We had to remodel our master bathroom due to severe termite damage!!! The owner of this company Mr. Leo Renteria came to my house, explained to me everything in a way that I was able to understand and gave the most reasonable estimate! I interviewed several construction companies, and Mikasa was by far the best decision I made! The workers were on time, very respectful and cleaned up every day after they were done. The project was finished in advance and with amazing results!!! The owner Mr. Leo and his assistant Claudio Sanchez were always responding to my phone calls and we’re communicatng with me about every decision or suggestion they had !!! We are planning to use this company by the time we will be ready to built our new home!!!

They were supposed to call me back never did, how disappointing!

Called them to give me quote on water damage in house coming from roof or overhang for insurance purposes, was told they would contact me Monday since I called on friday. Monday came and went, so called again on a Wednesday and finally got someone to come out on Tuesday. They inspected the damage without once going in the attic or climbing on roof. Was told basically it was my gutters overflowing and they would email a quote to me. A week went by and still nothing. So I called them again and was told that would contact me on Monday since or was friday. I cant speak from their quality of work, but their customer service is non existent. I feel unimportant and a waste of their time.
