I’m writing this as a once green cheek conure bird mom who loved her pet dearly. He was only 3 years old with too much life to live and unfortunately passed away in my arms. I came to see the vet the day before his passing and was hoping to receive some medicine or something to relieve his sickness. I recently moved and drove an hour to get my bird seen here. There are currently no avian vets in my area that could see me with such urgency, so I had to make the drive. The vet suggested an X-ray but no blood work as he mentioned that the amount of blood in a bird is much less and he could potentially just die from the amount drawn. I am convinced if he had done a blood exam I would have known what was wrong and had gotten treatment for him and he would’ve still been alive. He was a fighter. I am upset with the treatment plan of “wait and see” as that always leads to something worse especially with small birds. After much research I’ve seen that several bird owners suggest and always get blood drawn when their bird is sick and their avian vet ALWAYS suggests it as a course of action to find the underlying problem. I am hurt and distraught that I didn’t know of this sooner and naively went with the vets treatment plan of “wait and see” instead of what could’ve saved his life. I write this to warn other bird owners if you do come see this vet to press on blood work and get it done as it could possibly save your pet birds life and give you the peace of mind of actually knowing what is wrong.
First time here. They care about my fur baby. Good quality care. Yes I will be coming back. Finally found a vet in Turlock.
I have an animal thats not necessarily one you come by too often and the doctor saw him and prescribed him meds that helped so much. Love this place. Really good prices
I took my budgie today for the first time because it looked like he had cold. The staff were professional and quick. The Doctor who saw it knew immediately what was wrong and gave antibiotics for the respiratory infection. I loved that he didnt wast my time and money on tests that werent needed. I would definitely recommend this vet.
I have been so impressed with Dr Barrett and his staff. They have been taking care of my dog since I moved to town. They are good about having close follow up and show that they truly care about your pets. Excellent veterinary clinic.
I love community vet, I love Dr. Barrett, and I love Courtney!!! I have been taking my dogs there forever and there is no better place if you want love, attention and care for your fur babies, this is the place to go! Courtney is absolutely fantastic! I absolutely adore her and Dr. Barrett. My animals come back and they are healthy and happy and calm! Love you community vet!
CVC saved our dog’s life. We brought in our mini dachshund pup and he tested positive for parvo. We thought he was gone for sure but the doctor and staff gave us options and we decided to admit him and give him his best chance. They were honest but caring about the situation. I was able to call multiple times a day to check on him and they also called me multiple times a day to give me updates. Our little guy pulled through thanks to their care and dedication. They could have kept him longer and charged more money since they gave me an estimate of up to 2 weeks but they were very honest and didn’t keep him any longer than he needed to be there (price was HALF of what they said it might be). They are very honest and hard working and I will definitely be taking my pets there for any of their future needs.
They filled my rx without proper notice.
One of few places around me that sees chickens. Took my Plymouth Rock in for sour crop. Very kind and professional staff. Thank you Community Vet Clinic!
This vet is 100% amazing . I recently had a emergency situation with my fur baby they immediately stepped in and saved her. They are amazing the staff and the doctor they all take the time to explain every ounce of detail answer any questions you may have. I love this place 100% recommend this place
This vet and his staff are truly amazing. We have fostered a few dogs and have brought them through here to be treated with the puppy plan. We also have our family dogs who we bring here regularly for the past 3 years and absolutely love this place. We drive from Modesto to come here because the wait times are low, the prices are more than fair, and the vet takes the time to get to know each animal that comes through, and the owners of course. I have been in a room with Dr. Barret and watch him get down on the floor with our dog to make her more comfortable and our dogs love him (especially if he has the chewy anti-flea med). Will always recommend this place and we will keep coming back!
Today was my first time at this vet, and i am very grateful for their help. they are the only place who was willing to treat my rat, and i called around quite a bit in my city before deciding to come to this clinic in turlock. dr. barrett was recommended to me by many of my friends, and i can see why! the staff was very nice to me as was the doctor. will be going back to finish my rats treatment in a couple weeks, and will definitely be coming to this clinic again in the future if any of my pets need help.
Love this place girls are so nice and explain everything. prices are lower then most.
I was referred to Brandon Barrett by a breeder. My rabbit wasnt eating. I told him what was wrong, but was told that it was impossible. I should have walked out then, and I kick myself every day since my rabbit died from the impossible condition for not doing just that. When I finally took him to another vet, it was too late. I didnt have $3000 for emergency surgery. Dr. Barrett killed my rabbit. Hes the self-proclaimed rabbit guy, yet he doesnt even know that if a rabbits teeth grow too long, the roots will be forced up into the jawbone and even through the sinuses. He thought it couldnt happen because their roots dont grow. Their roots dont need to grow for it to happen! The rabbits grind their teeth and get pushed up!!!Hes an inexperienced, undereducated big fish in a small pond. The staff gave me a hard time about picking up the x-rays too. I suspected they didnt take the x-rays, just charged me for them. This is not a good place for your animal friend. Dont allow yourself to be taken as I did. I feel nothing but guilt for my decision to go here, and hatred for Dr. Barrett as well as the receptionist who made me drive 45 minutes before deciding to let me know she made a mistake, and the x-rays werent actually on her desk as Id been told. They were in the vault that would take a week to open, apparently. 45 miles of wasted gas, and she wasnt the least bit apologetic. This place is not good enough to trust with the health of your pet.
I first came to Community Vet several years ago, because another vet in town refused to see my dog because the surgery he needed was going to $1500.00 and I didnt have cash and at the time apparently I didnt pass their credit check. So as my dog is dying in their waiting room I called community and was told to bring my dog in and we would figure it out. By the time I was able to get my dog over there he was almost gone and the good Doc let me know there was only a slim chance of him living through the surgery. I opted to have him put down. The kindness and caring they showed at that time let me know I would not take my animals anywhere else.On Tuesday my old dog finally need to go to heaven to play with his brothers and sisters, again as I held my boy to say good bye, I was met with nothing but the utmost kindness and compassion from both Dr. Barrett and his staff, if I could hug them all I would. There is no other place in Turlock that I would take my Dogs. Thank you for all you do.
Have taken my dog here since I got him. Always receive great care and staff is all very knowledgeable.
Community Veterinary Clinic has been a place I take all my pets to because my babies deserve only the best. I love the Dr. Barrett and his staff. They always make us feel like we our the most important. Dr. Barrett and his staff are caring, knowledgeable and professional. I appreciate all they do and I am grateful to have them for my special pumpkins!!!!!!
Dr. Barrett fixed my dogs eye after two botched surgeries at Monte Vista Animal Hospital, and he got it right! Monte Vista was still going to charge me almost $1000 for a surgery that they messed up the first 2 attempts within one year. Dr. Barrett also gave me a great payment plan (since I was broke paying off Monte Vista--I was still paying them off when I scheduled the 3rd surgery with Dr. Barrett). Dr. Barrett is highly recommended and knows what he is doing!
On July 17th I called in asking to bring in my puppy Scrappy he wasnt feeling well. They said come right away. I was there for maybe 30 minutes and they were doing all kinds of tests on him. I had to leave him there for most of the day for him to get antibiotics and so they could watch him. Not sure what was going on. By the end of the day I called and Dr. Barrett said you can bring him home and call me if you have any questions. So through out the weekend I gave medication for diarrhea, Vomiting and antibiotic. In a matter of hours he was playing a little but still tired. The next day even better. Come Monday evening Dr. Barrett himself called on him to see how he was doing. I WAS SO IMPRESSED! Not even a human doctor calls on patients anymore. I felt that WOW Dr. Barrett and his staff is great I am so glad he is my dogs VET. I cant imagine any other vet doing that. Thanks Dr. Barrett my puppy thanks you too!
Thank you for caring and not just comforting my pup but me as well. The ladies in the office are sweet and funny but not to mess around. The one thing that I really liked about the Dr. was all the questions he asked and he went over possibilities and so forth. Also, my dog has anxiety (most dogs) and of course I do too but we both felt calm and welcomed she really liked one of the ladies that helped her which Im surprised because she doesnt trust people so fast. Over all we definitely recommend this Community Vet. Clinic and I didnt even brake my pocket. 💯
We Love Community Veterinary Clinic. Our 4-legged child Biscuit is treated with TLC.The Staff are pleasant to work with and helpful. Appointments are easy to make. No appoinments are necessary for his nail trims and there is usually only 5-10 minute wait.
My husband and I rescued our dog Mia from the animal shelter a few years ago. The veterinarian clinic we had previously used didnt seem as personable as it once was. A friend recommended Community Veterinary Clinic highly and so I made and appointment with Dr. Barrett. His love for animals and knowledge really made me feel comfortable. The entire staff has been helpful and very courteous. Even their name Community Veterinary Clinic describes how all are invited to use their services.
Hi Im Dolly! Im Daves dog, and I am always happy to go see my friends at Community Veterinary Clinic! They are really good people down there, and are very caring for us animals. I cant wait to go back! Dolly and Dave thanks
At Community Veterinary Clinic everyone is so compassionate. They give the best care for all of your animals and care about your feelings too. They are a top shelf animal care facility. Dr.Barrett is number 1 in my book!
Great doctor and amazing staff thanks for all you do!
Im so glad I found this place and will continue to take my babies there. Knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. Very thankful they exist.
Best vet i have taken my dogs too. Staff is very caring and office is always clean. I would definitely recommend this veterinary clinic.
Excellent Vet but won’t see Justin’s cat that is dying!! Now His cat is laying in our floor with his tongue out dying cuz all they care about is MONEY!!!!
Dr Barrett is all about money! He doesnt care about your animals, he only cares about how much money he can get from you.I just got off the phone with their clinic, my dog has a severe ear infection that for over a month Ive tried to get help with from the local veterinary, but, because Im poor, and not from this area so my regular veterinarian is in another state.Thats right, Im someone that is on a fixed income for the rest of my life because of greedy people that caused my injury and left me for dead all over money. Now I again face the greed that consumes the weak, and Dr Barrett is just that, a weak human who seeks wealth through greed.I was told I cannot have my dog looked at because I dont have money. Thus the ear infection that Ive been turned down by every veterinary in the area for six weeks now (probably because it wasnt bad enough to see my dog), has now swollen both her ears, throat, and she keeps crawling under the trailer refusing to come out, probably because she is dying. All this because the veterinary industry demands money if you want your pet to live. Well Im disabled, and this pet is more than that to me, she has been my trained service animal for 7 years now, and now I am being forced to watch her suffer and die because of GREED!UPDATE;I call back to see if they may have a change in heart in light of my review.First lets address the conversation that sparked this review. In a discussion about a credit app for services, was told OK to bring my dog in and the Dr would see her. I asked for the address following my giving my name and phone number and my dogs name for the appointment, I was put on hold, and while waiting for her to return, another woman got on and told me I wouldnt be able to see the Dr unless I had the office fee, and Id need to buy any meds, as well as any services or procedures would have to be paid up front. So my appointment just turned from paid by credit, to cash only. You see my dilemma, Ive already explained I have no money, so Im being brushed off because of GREED.So now my dog dies in front of me because Im not in a position to afford the needs of my service dog, and not just this veterinary clinic, in the Modesto area Ive been told over and over, NO MONEY, NO SERVICE!I only called back in a last ditch effort for help to save my dogs life, but instead, Monica accused me of calling back to harass them and hung up on me.The veterinary industry is just that, a money grabbing, greedy, hateful, and uncaring brood. They are the greatest animal abusers on earth, and should be locked up for the hate they have for animals. They only love your pet if you have money!
My most recent patient i brought in was a kitten i was fostering i bought the kitten pack for all of his shots it was way cheaper than if i had made his appts. randomly. The care and service there is excellent Dr. Barret takes to time to answer all your questions thoroughly.
I love Dr. Barrett and Community Vet Clinic. The office staff is kind and caring and always go out of their way to help. Their prices do seem high but I feel Dr Barret tries to be fair and he does not order lab work or tests that are unnecessary. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
Very personable and friendly staff. Dr. Barrett is VERY good with our dogs. Highly recommend.
Thanks very good doctor and staff people
The staff is so awesome, and I trust the staff with my furbabies!! I will keep on taking them in to see this wonderful staff !
Awful experience! Scheduled an appointment over a week ago and still was asked to wait outside in 101 heat! Had to leave without being seen so that our dog didn’t have a heat stroke!!
LOVE it! Everyone there is soo animal oriented...they even walk around with a cockateel on the shoulder. The Doctors surgery on the cats I took in to them was so accurate that the cats didnt realize that they had had surgery. Im hooked on the place..I, 5 star, recommend the place!
One of the most compassionate and caring vets Ive ever had.
Loved them! They were so nice to my pitbull Luna
My babies have been going to Community Vet for years and I wouldnt take them anywhere else. Dr. Barrett is extremely patient, gentle, understanding, even getting down on the floor with my dogs (the first time I have ever seen a vet do this). He is truly a doctor who cares not only for his patients but their parents. His staff is the best I have ever dealt with. They are extremely knowledgeable, gentle and fun. Having worked for vets in the past, I know how difficult it can be dealing with not only the pet but the scared and worried parents, it can be emotionally draining. They handle it with such grace, patience and compassion. They are truly a blessing from God and I wouldnt trust my pets with anyone else! I also want to thank all of them for their tender care when Ikey was put to sleep (he looooved going to see Dr. Barrett and he really loved the Ladies) and all the care, patience and time Tina (and me) have received going through her diabetes and all that it entails. Their prices are so reasonable especially for the care received and their puppy/kitten packages are a steal. You are the best Dr. Barrett, Kortney, Vanessa, Rochelle, Bre, Cassie and all the other staff that I know are there but I havent had the chance to meet. Thank you for taking such good care of all of my babies through the years! Stacie, Tina, Turner and Wolfie
Considering its the only vet clinic near me that treats ducks and other exotic animals, theyre friendly and knowledgeable. Little on the pricey side.
Nice place
They listen, they care. They dont take advantage of your pets situation to overcharge you, but give you all the options. And they care. (Repeating myself for emphasis)
Staff and Dr excellentGood value -Treats animals and people with most respectVery friendly, helpful in emergency and kind all around
GREAT STAFF & AMAZING VETS!!!
