I have NEVER publicly left a negative review for a company for many reasons but I feel compelled to share this one due to the extremity of my experience. Last week, I decided to escalate a dispute regarding insurance for repairs done on my vehicle because I was having trouble reaching a satisfactory resolution. The dispute was over a door that was replaced but was not authorized by insurance. The insurance company communicated multiple times with the shop that they did not intend to pay to replace the $1,200 door, only repair it. However, the shop opted to replace it anyhow without my permission. They stand firm that they felt it was the right thing to do. (by the way, there was only minor damage done to the door). I requested that the owner call me to discuss the situation. She finally called me today. Immediately she made assumptions about the purpose of my request to speak to her and would not allow me even a word to clear up my intentions. I was told to stop interrupting her when I would try to speak. She was HIGHLY EMOTIONAL from the start - very defensive, and was yelling at me... yes, practically screaming in the phone. After being insulted and hung up on 3 times, I was absolutely dumbfounded. I understand that this is an unfortunate situation for all involved due to the accident and then the insurance dispute but I reached out hoping to come to a reasonable resolution, explore options, or at minimum gain a better understanding through review of correspondence. Instead, I was spoken to like dirt by the owner. Im disappointed that one of our local companies treats customers like this. Tupelo consumers definitely deserve better! I do not trust Toms Automotive due to the lack of professionalism and ethics I witnessed today and would not recommend them to anyone.
Very satisfied with work completed after an accident. Car looks great!
Friendly service and actually drove me home so I wouldnt have to wait 3 hours. GREAT SERVICE!!!!
I had wrecked my car and insurance adjuster was trying to force me to elsewhere. I appreciate that they explained the process to me and assured me that they would handle everything with the ins adjuster.
Really went above and beyond to work me in on short notice. Gave me great advice and got me back on the road ASAP. I felt very comfortable there and their knowledge of my needs were spot on.
They were great service was good. People were pleasant. Tried to get off back roads fast and took care where I needed.
Never use them againBad business not friendly
First of all they were supposed to be to us within a hour, that turned into 5 hours. When the driver finally got our vehicle he couldnt back it into our driveway to save his life, mind you we have a very wide driveway. Also bearing in mind that we have a circle drive but when we tried to tell him this (4 separate times) he cut us off mid sentence saying im not driving on any grass, its fully graveled. Was very rude to my wife over the phone, was snippy with me, i finally just told him to drop it where it was id deal with it in the morning. First and last time dealing with this company.
AAA sent Tom’s Automotive out when I had a flat tire. Tech was earlier than expected, fast, friendly, and professional. I have a full size quad cab truck. Dude was super fast. Flat tire was off and new tire on in about 10 min. Thanks Tom’s for the service!!!!
24 hour / 7 days They will tow your vehicle but wont allow you to retrieve your vehicle Saturday or Sunday. They intentionally keep your vehicle longer so they make more money. Not an honest business practice. Cost my mother in law an extra 100 dollars .
Back when the the snow was bad my gfs vehicle got stuck in it so we Called for a Tow paid $100 up front and the driver was unable to tow the vehicle when he arrived or soo he says he never attempted to tow the vehicle he just looked at it said nope can’t do it and left...the company refuses to refund the $100 for a tow that they never did. We ended up calling another service to pull the vehicle and the manager zack was very unprofessional during this entire interaction! Definitely don’t recommend them if u are ever stuck or in a bind very unprofessional and unreliable!
Had car trouble and called roadside assistance. Just my luck, these guys get the call. After 3 hours of waiting the tow truck finally shows up. The lies from the person answering the phone is unbelievable. No accountability at this place of business. Horrible Service at its finest
Great service as always. Very fair price
They were all very helpful and knowledgeable, but my big big props go to Mike Page, their tow truck driver! I was trying not to have a meltdown when my transmission blew while driving home to Oklahoma from Florida. Mike could see I was struggling and asked if he could give me a hug, which I agreed to. I REALLY needed his kindness, patience and his big bear hug! Wonderful, wonderful man!!
Excellent service! Car was cleaner when it was picked up than when it was dropped off.
My Bad ! 2001 Taurus wagon lost power and died. Would not start. AAA recommended Toms They called me an hour later. Vehicle out of gas. Proof positive Toms is 100 % honest. Thank you Toms I sincerely appreciate your honesty All my vehicles will be serviced by your facility from now on.
Didnt get any work done here, their prices were too high for my blood. And the receptionist made me feel unwelcome every time I talked with him. I wouldnt recommend these guys. C-
Great people great work
This place had me back up and running in a day! I do thank you guys for your super fast and friendly service!!!
GREAT SERVICE! NICK IN BODY SHOP WAS AWESOME!!
Service was fast did a awesome job
Excellent service
They are very dependable and will tell you exactly the issue. Once they fix your vehicle, its fixed!
I was very pleased with their work until I came to pick my vehicle up and notice that the price they gave me and my insurance company was not the price they charged me. I was told I would be informed if there was any changes and I was not by them nor my insurance company. Now my vehicle has a 20,000 depreciation because they fixed a vehicle that should have been total now Im stuck with a 35,000 car thats only worth 18,000 with only 3,400 miles on it. I was completely screwed in this deal they charged my insurance company 27,000 and told me 17,000 (which I thought at 17,000 it should have been totaled) and my car was only worth 35,000...and I had Gap insurance, neither them nor my insurance company gave me a choice or informed me that the price had went up. I feel like I was bamboozled by both, so they can make a quick buck....So am I pleased with their work Absolutely they did a great job because they had to they just bought them a new car with my insurance money, but Im I pleased with their honesty, and keeping me informed ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!...But I still blame myself I should not put that much trust in other folks hands when it came to my money plus I should have got a lawyer from the start. So with all this being said please look at your invoice before you take your vehicle and keep up with what they are charging you or you might just get screwed like me.
I had a flat and Toms sent out someone to help. They were very professional and got me back on my way quickly. Highly recommended!
Horrible place to work hope is a total b word
Im actually Felicias husband but I want to thank Toms Automotive for their roadside service by towing our vehicle home. The name of the guy who did the towing is Cory and hes a really a great guy!!! So if you need any service done, call Toms... :0)
I can honestly recommend the towing service from personal expirence(quick courteous and professional). Have used another in the area that damaged my daughters car then acted very inappropriately when I pointed it out them after they tried to get me to sign their release form..If we have to have anything towed again we will use Toms
Great job on repairing and painting my door on my truck. Front receptionist has a terrible attitude! Don’t expect friendly service!
I broke down in Tupelo in my BMW on a Thursday night and the tow truck recommended Tom’s saying they worked a lot on BMW’s and they did good work! They did an amazing job replacing my gas pump and fuel injector and had it ready by the text day at 4! They allowed me to be able to pick it up on a Sunday and the area was very safe and clean! Highly recommend for BMW issues!
I was driving from West coast to East Coast when my car decided to surrender. In other words the engine would need to be replaced at that would cost $3-4k. I said no thanks because the car isnt worth that much. They kept my vehicle in the shop locked up under video surveillance for the evening while I decided what to do. I came back the next day with a uhaul proceeded to move contents from dead vehicle to uhaul and get on my way. They were very helpful gave me space and didnt rush me into anything. One of the mechanics dropped me off at my hotel as well. I wish there were more people like this around.
The owners are super. Very down to earth.
I have been taking my familys cars for years! They are honest and always check before they start the work. And my insurance prefers them as well.
I want to say first that the repair work performed at Toms was excellent, 5 star all the way!Second, within a few days after getting the car back from the repair work, several dash warning lights on the Prius came on (ABS, Brake, & Traction) and cruise control stopped working. When my mom took her car back by there she was told it would be $100 for diagnostics to find out the cause of the lights & cruise not working. I would rate this as more of 3-4 stars.I took the car by there and spoke with Mike about these lights and her car. After a few minutes of discussion, he walked out to see if anything could easily be seen that might be the issue. Mike added a small amount of Brake fluid to see if that remedied the situation, and then put it on the handheld diagnostic computer to try to clear the lights without any luck. He was able to give an idea of what might be the issue in less than 10 minutes and sent me on my way. Thanks Mike for the help, 5 stars all the way from me. Will deal with Toms again thanks to Mike!
The staff are AWESOME!!! I came in needing a timing belt, water pump, and a air intake hose replaced on my 2014 Chevy Cobalt. Mike, the office manager, got to me right away while working up a quote for me within minutes. He was able to get me in the very next day to have the work completed. The car runs better than ever now and they did it for half the price that Dwayne Blackmon Chevrolet had quoted me for. I prefer everyone to first check out Toms before going anywhere else here locally. They are also known to stand behind their work with a one year warranty in which I find AWESOME!! Thanks Guys!
My cars check engine sign was on last week so I took it to Toms auto services for a regular check. They were supposed to diagnose what was wrong with the engine and inform me of the issue. That was the only service I requested. However, after checking the engine, they turned off the check engine sign without my permission. I was not told until it was done. And it was too late. My car’s powertrain is still under warranty so I can take it to the dealer and get it fixed for free. However, without the check engine sign on, the dealer wont fix it. It would cost $1000+ to fix it and my warranty will expire in a few months. They told me they could not fix it and ask me to take it to the dealer. BUT THEY TURNED OFF MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!! How can I get it fixed without the light on??? It’s not their first day in business and they should know the consequences of what they did to my car. They left me in a very risky situation and my engine could die any time after my warranty expires. I COULD HAVE HAD IT FIXED FOR FREE!! Now I probably have to pay more than $1000 to fix it in the future. What really makes me mad is their attitude toward resolving the issue. There were ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. They were extremely rude when I tried to approach them about the issue a few days. My check engine sign was off and I wasn’t even sure if it’s safe to drive my car anymore. They wouldn’t admit that what they’ve done puts my car in a dangerous situation. And they also tried to sabotage my car in order to turn the check engine light on!!!! WTF?! I stopped them immediately after I found out. The manager said ‘Since you are already unhappy with us, you won’t come back anyways” I said “Yea, I would never come back” Then he said “Then why are you still here?! Leave now!!” He completely drove me nuts!!I just want to warn everyone else who’s considering taking his/her car to Tom’s. Don’t go there unless you want your car messed up!!
They were very professional
So, my car broke down in Tupelo. AAA had originally sent someone to jumpstart my vehicle; I was told by him it was most likely my fuel pump. AAA recommend this place and I really wish they hadnt. Long story short, I requested an estimated amount the day it was towed and was told Id be called the next day after they had a chance to look at the vehicle because it was about 3 PM. I had to travel to another state for work and really didnt feel like I had an option.I waited for the call all day the next day. I ended up calling them towards the end of the workday. I was transferred to a guy that told me the work would be over $1000 even with their 10% discount. I was in shock. The internet search had revealed that this type of work, the fuel pump, should be between $400 and $700 for my type and model of vehicle. Immediately after hanging up the phone I called my normal mechanic and told him what was going on. He said there was no way the repair should be that much. He gave me the number to the dealership back home and said to get n estimate from them on the same repair. They quoted $650 at the dealership. I then called a dealership near Tupelo as it was close to 400 miles from where I usually go. The dealership said they use a book to price it si it would be $650 there too. Then I called a couple of other local repair shops(without mentioning that it was already at a local shop) and was quoted the same price. I called Toms back and said that I was going to have it towed somewhere else to have the work done. He indicated that I might be able to find a shade tree out there that would do it for less but that it was already at his shop. Then the guy copped an attitude and said it would cost about $120 for him to release my car because they diagnosed it. I informed him I never was told there would be a fee to diagnose it or given a price until I called (I had even offered giving them a deposit because my home address is hours away.. super glad they didnt take it).I immediately opened up a complaint with AAA and the BBB. I paid for my car to be released and towed just a few blocks away at a way more honest repair shop. If I didnt need my car back asap I wouldnt have paid them a dime and would have taken further legal action. *Honestly, depending on the resolution with AAA I may still take legal action out of principle.)DO NOT USE THIS SHOP! IDC WHAT AAA TELLS YOU. PLEASE LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS THEY ARENT LYING.(By the way, my car was repaired elsewhere for about $600 in one day. Plus I got a lifetime warranty for the repair and a full tank of gas back in my car because there are still good honest repair places out there... just not this one)
Great job
I was stranded on the side of the interstate and Toms had a very nice young man on call ready to pick me up and was there within 20 minutes. Great service!
What a lifesaver! We ran out of gas while driving back from Florida, and a sweet young man from Toms brought us gas less than 20 minutes from the time we called! Everyone was polite and professional. I highly recommend them!
Very professional and prompt in their service.
I have gone to them on more than one occasion now and have zero complaints. They are easy to work with and I highly recommend. Now if I only had similar luck with the unfortunate people hitting my vehicles. :-)
Can not recommend this place for body repair. After picking up my truck major body components crooked, parts missing, parts left hanging, fasteners not replaced and defects left in paint. Pretty basic stuff they totally dropped the ball on.
Original Review: Fall 2016: 4 stars: If you need your car fixed regardless of price, then Toms is the place to go. They always figure out what my cars need and how to fix them. The work (mechanical and body) is always solid and rarely questionable. My family has been going to Toms for several years now. They are also the only AAA approved shop in Tupelo. However, they are just as pricey as going to a dealership or worse which really doesnt help when you are low on money. As long as I can afford it, I will take my vehicles to Toms for now. I would also like to add that they have good customer service, and are almost always able to answer my questions when I call. If they could find a way to lower prices, this would easily be five stars no doubt about it. If you dont know where to take your car in Tupelo, whether you live around here or not, they are the place to go. (As a side note: Ive noticed that some people around here dont like Toms for one reason or another, but the case is usually something along the lines of they messed up their own car and wanted to blame Toms for it or they heard from someone else not to go there so they tell everyone that. You cant always believe what you hear, especially here in the south.)Update: 10/6/2017: 5 stars: Still a continuing customer and always will be. Toms is always working hard to take care of their customers and listen to them. Changing from 4 stars to 5 stars. Weve been using them for close to a decade now with multiple vehicles in our family. Worth the price for quality work and a good warranty (which is hard to find these days at independent shops).
The absolute worse. And their customer service is even worse. Took 7 hours to pick up my car. Wouldn’t use them again if they were the last resort on earth.
Needed a fast body job on a car and they did great.
Not really sure
There just wasnt enough stars on the rating for me, I had taken my F250 to another local service shop to have brake lines replaced, after 2 stories they told me, and 3.5 days with my truck not moving an inch, I called Toms and asked them if they could fit it in. Not only did they say yes bring it in, but they were half the price of the other shop, and 1/8 the time frame, my truck was repaired in just a few hours of time on Friday morning. Having just moved here in the last year or so, Ive found a mechanic for sure!!!THANKS!!!
DONT bring your vehicle here unless you want to get overcharged. $733 labor charge for about 6 to 6.5 hours of work. And to top it off, minutes after leaving I had to turn around and go back so they could reinstall a minor part they forgot to put on.
Worst experience ever. They will charge you and lie and tell you they fixed your car. Then when you take it home the car isnt fixed and they will blow you off and keep your money. Heres the best part, they wont even fix what they were supposed to fix in the first place without re-charging you. Absolutely Awful.
They Came and picked up my car and when i called to ask about it the women over the phone was rude and then later that night we drove to the shop to see if they covered my car up out of the rain like they said they would and when i asked a man that worked there he inturrupted me several times while i was simply trying to ask a question about my car. I never got my question out because he wouldnt shut up long enough to even hear it telling me they werent open so we left and then he took a picture of the car i was in. I just wanted to know if my car was covered or not. Everytime i opened my mouth he would cut me off. Didnt even give me a chance to talk. Worst wrecker service in tupelo. Workers are selfish and rude. Do not recommend.
Absolutely worst service! Was charged $45 and not told I was being charged for them to tape up my window! I assumed bc the bill said repaired window that my window was fixed! All they did was tape it, thats also after I was waaaaay over charged for a starter! I highly recommend going any where else to have your car worked on! Unless you like being over charged for crappy service! I wish you could give zero stars when deserving!
I came to this particular site to see if I was the only one treated with such disrespect. Not at all.... The lady that works there is very rude!!!!!! I only was trying to ask about my vehicle, she continued to talk over me and hung up in my face 3 times. It is very clear that these people dont appreciate your business.
NEVER USE THIS BUSINESS FOR ANYTHING TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THEM quoted over $1,800 for a repair that we had done elsewhere for $375
My service was horrible!! Everybody was rude. I didnt know they didnt take checks and my account was compromised so they took my vehicle back but its how they handled me when I tried to get it! I hope that they dont talk and treat everybody like they treated me
They got me what I needed.
Seriously overcharged with a tune up and still have problems with my car just days afterwards. Too costly.
Great folks! You wont be disappointed.
Never Ever take your car to this place Period!!!!! They charge a $100.00 in Diagnostic fees.... & the Diagnostic was very inaccurate. So they will make up something just to get your money & over charge you. I paid in all $722.00 to them & the problem they told me I had was NOT THE PROBLEM & when I got my car back the problem still persist! & MIKE WAS VERY VERY RUDE!!!! Please whatever you do avoid this place at all COST‼️IT WAS A NIGHTMARE‼️‼️‼️ Please whatever you do NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!
Best and most dependable auto service in Tupelo.
Anthony did Great work on my car after wreck.
If you need repairs this is the place to go.
Over priced, couldnt fix the problem correctly
Good customer service
This place is so Rude. They need to close this place down.
It will cost you $100 just for them to tell you whats wrong with your car and after comparison shopping it was more expensive than most other places
