I have been a loyal Enterprise customer for years, but lately I have rented from them and either there were no cars available after I made the reservation online or the car I requested was overbooked. I decided to try Payless/Budget and have been extremely satisfied. The attendant at the booth was very efficient and kind and the drop off was quick and easy. Their overall customer service is the best I have received anywhere I have gone in a long time. I will definitely be renting from Payless/Budget from now on.
Payless in Phoenix was horrible. The counter service was smug and didn’t have our car. They were upping the price for a “better” rental, wouldn’t keep their online price that I booked, and made my daughter wait in a wheel chair while not sorting this out. Probably better and cheaper to use an Uber.
Very pleased with customer service. extremely prompt and helpful. Automatically upgraded me to a similar vehicle. 5 stars. Will do business with again.
So, I was very worried that my experience would be like many of the people who gave Payless a bad review, but I have to say that did not happen. Pick up was pretty easy and there was no up-sell or pressure to buy extra add-ons. I got a vehicle that was in the category I chose. The only thing that was not good was the car was not that clean. The interior was pretty clean, but the exterior was not washed and very dirty. The car ran good with new issues at all. Returning it was a piece of cake, they scanned the tag on the car, got the mileage, checked to make sure I returned with a full tank of gas, handed me a receipt, and I was on my way to my flight. My total was actually less than the price I was quoted. Minutes later I received an email receipt from Payless. This was only the second time I have rented a car and the experience I had with Payless was easy and painless. I would definitely consider them again for my next car rental.
Checkin in and out was a breeze. I rented a full size car and got a Mustang. Driving this car was a great experience. Not really that bad in gas when using in hoghway. I highly recommend. Payless.

I am writing a one star review because after reserving my car online, being charged the insurance (an extra cost that I agreed to at reservation) but then arriving to pickup my rental only to be told that a Visa debit card was not acceptable form of payment unless we had a flight at the airport. Called around and apparently this is a thing- not accepting any card associated with debit. This information was NEVER presented at time of reservation and at this point I am just holding out for a refund of the insurance I paid for on a car I couldnt get. They sure accepted the debit card for reservation to take funds but then couldnt let me use the rental with debit.... so disappointing. Had to drive nearly two hours back to my hometown and cancel my entire trip out of state due to not getting the rental.

Dont rent from these people! They will double charge you, then deny they charged you. If you open a case with them and they respond by email, they will later on deny that they ever emailed you to settle or discuss any claim. They are TOTAL LIARS!

There are too many issues to list throughout my entire experience, but to sum it up they claimed I never returned the car & charged me nearly 10 times what they were supposed to. I have been dealing with resolving this for nearly 2 weeks, as they have no one for you to speak to directly. You have to wait to be contacted via email for 24-72 hours, but I have waited much longer. This is by far the most incompetent company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I’m also filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau.
Not able to communicate with the rental booth ahead of time to let them know we were landing 15 minutes before their closing time and to wait for us. And when we did get there, there was just a little sign in the window that said “will be right back “. Now at two minutes to closing time, I am not sure what that means. And after all this the computer system is not working I he have to do it all by hand. I am just saying, good thing the plane wasn’t 10 minutes late.
I didnt feel like i had options, the price felt like a regular rent a car nothing about Payless like they advertised.
There was a mix up on our rental car and they were so rude. Micaela Marshall the blonde lady that works there is the worst and rudest person. We cancelled our reservation and went to National in the same parking lot and got great service.

Great price and friendly staff. Only downside to the service would be I had to go back to the counter after returning the car. I didnt get stuck with any extra fees that I am aware. The car was a slight upgrade from mini economy to Ford Focus 5-door. Pretty low to the ground and sporty. Great mileage, high 30s, and comfortable. Transmission surging was slightly annoying on acceleration. But I presume its from wear and tear from shifting into Drive. The car shifted into LOW way too easy and missing DRIVE if you werent careful.
Take money when not told like for insurance I have a 2019 and fully covered so why use someone elses insurance and spend more money im renting your car and a better car

Tje store ghetto on Detroit Michigan airport and my reservation which shows an estimated total of $54.00 for two days with a compact car that did not start all the time and called several time and could not get through. Payless Car Rental charged my credit card a total of $375.59. NEVER AGAIN, THE WORST BUYER BEWARE!!!!

First time renting from Payless at Tulsa airport. Price and variety of vehicles was very competitive. Significant cancellation fee regardless of timing of cancellation. upon returning car, had to go back to the Payless desk for finalizing rental (have NEVER had to do that with any other agency in Tulsa having rented at least 6 other times). Upon arrival, was told of an additional fee ($5+). No mention of return fee at checkout and no mention on web site. my contract from checkout showed no balance due. clerk stated she was unable to finalize checkout until fee paid. I asked to speak to her supervisor but was refused. Clerk stated fee might go as high as $195! I told her i would not pay the fee until I spoke to a supervisor. Her supervisor returned her call and I stood there with my hand out to speak to them but again was refused. Was told a supervisor would return my call, but not contacted by phone or email after over a week. Cant see EVER renting again unless no other option. BEWARE!
I made my reservation online, but then had to extend that reservation. I called the main office and the staff were very friendly and told me that it would be no problem to extend my current reservation. Only when I returned the car did I find out that they nearly doubled my daily rate. I contacted them and the response was very rude and basically said that I didnt return the car when I said I would even though I have records of the phone call. When I pointed that out, they didnt even reply and simply closed the case and refused to return my money. Very poor customer service . I will never use them again.

This is the first time in about ten rentals where I booked a Sedan and got one. Tired of being told that an SUV is some kind of upgrade. Payless gave me what I paid for. Thank you.
They are not even worth 1 star honestly. Do not use this company. 2 months after returning the car we got a charge and a letter (also dated 2 months after return) staying we were being charged $300 for smoke odor. My husband and I are not smokers and never have been. We have tried numerous times to get ahold of customer service. Unable to speak to anyone saying they will call us in a few days. It’s now been a week since we made our first call. I am disgusted by this company and will be taking legal action. Do your research because this company has multiple lawsuits against them for this same thing.
Absolutely the worst car rental company I have ever dealt with. When trying to pick up a prepaid for reservation at the airport, we were told the car we reserved (a Suburban) wasnt available and that they could offer a Econoline type van. The rental was for a long trip and my family was expecting the comfort of a deluxe SUV, not a commercial style van. We left without the vehicle and the assurances from the counter staff that we could get a full refund. 5 days later, I cant get anyone that can process the refund. All you can do is post things on a web link, with 72 hour turnaround between communications. When asking for someone in management, all you get is more referrals to the web link. I will NEVER use this company again, and Ill take them to small claims court to get my refund. I have always used Hertz and now I know why I shouldnt have tried a Payless company. You get what you pay for and in the case it is LESS!!!!!
This the worst place Ive ever experienced. I had to cancel my reservation on 12/11. The first red flag was the cancellation fee of $50.00, I should have known then it would be HELL to get my refund. I was told that it takes 5 - 7 business days, and my 7th day is today (No money credited back to my credit card) After calling 3 times today and getting people that I cant understand, I was told my refund will take 7 - 14 business days now and I should get it by 12/29. This company was quick to take my money but terrible putting it back. I dont advise anyone to rent from this company. Yeah cheap is sometimes not good especially when you have to go through so much to get your own MONEY BACK....
I wouldnt even give this company a one star unless I had to. They ripped us off. We booked through Priceline and got a car for a week at $250. They were the best price so we went with them. They ended up charging us $400! I called, emailed even talked to Priceline (who couldnt do anything). No one changed it. So what we thought was the less expensive option ended up being the most expensive. Payless are crooks! Spare yourself and dont ever rent a Payless car.
This possibly the worst customer service Ive experienced with any company. The Tulsa office wont answer the phone. The corporate office was unable to help. I will not be using Payless ever again.
I used Payless because they were cheaper than Enterprise. Upon arrival, they didnt have the Full size car I reserved, upgraded to Std size, then that one was not available either and charged me $10 per day to upgrade to SUV which I did not need. Guess who will be using Enterprise exclusively henceforth.

RENT A CAMRY FOR $200.00 a day! Be careful with fees and unauthorized charges. My employee/agent rented a car from Payless and was charged an additional $1,500.00 on my credit card without any explanation.When I called Payless to ask them about the extra charge on my card, they told me they would not talk to me about this, that I had to talk to customer care and I could not call customer care, that I needed to send them an email and wait up to 72 hours before someone would try to contact me. Payless customer care email gave me a ticket number (146-046) in the morning, and now toward the end of the day I still have not heard from anyone. Now I am supposed to wait for up to three days? Thats crazy.Since when can someone take $1,500.00 from you with any explanation and then turn and tell you, they will get back to you in three days. Crazy, crazy, crazy.Bottom line is the company is nonresponsive to any questions about unauthorized billing.OMG! I just got a copy of my receipt. Payless should be Paymore. Theyre charging me almost $200.00 a day!
Staff was very helpful and the prices were reasonable, however the car smelled like cigarette smoke even though there was supposed to be no smoking in the cars.

I booked a mid-sized vehicle which was supposed to cost an estimated total of $83. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, I was told that they only had an SUV available. I assumed I would receive a free upgrade since they did not have the vehicle that I booked. They ended up charging me $284. Customer service was rude and unhelpful. Do NOT book with this company.
The car experience was fine its the getting the Southwest Rapid Reward points that sucks! My s.o. friend paid for the car that was in my name and it was put in hisname in Pittsburgh the beginning of May. This confused everyone even when the man in Pgh found the RIA and emailed it over. Heather in Tulsa said her date to get the points from the May 6-9 rental would be July 20th!!! Its come and gone and still no points and no Heather responding any more!!!!! Dont think well ever see those points.
Im looking for a rental in Tulsa .. After seeing these reviews I know who m not going to use..Kristen and dave arent he only ones with a problem yet theyre the only ones whos complaint they offered to rectify .. The threat of a lawsuit must be the only way they fix problems
I was charged a gas fee although i returned the car with a full tank of gas. I didt have the receipt so Payless charged me a fee because of the reps error. Refused to refund my money. Customer service is a joke.

Horrible experience. ALL of the dot-matrix printers but one was broken. So the wait time was ridiculous. No AC in the building makes for many angry people waiting and rude staff. Not a well run business. Never again.UPDATE: The vehicle they contracted to me was filthy on the outside and inside. The previous occupant spilled something sticky in the console and it was not cleaned. As I was documenting damage on the outside, I had a difficult time distinguishing dirt from scratches and scuffs. Also, in the heat of the day, the inside smelled horrid. The windshield was cracked and a loud clicking noise appeared at around 50 MPH coming from the front passenger wheel well. I was not at all satisfied with the appearance of the vehicleAs per the rental agreement, at the time of drop-off, I presented a receipt for fuel showing that I filled the vehicle. The employee inside refused to look at it and suggested I keep it. The next day, I see a charge on my card. I contacted customer care which turns out is Avis and I spoke with Blake who was very helpful as courteous. He said that it was a fuel charge and when I asked he said it would be removed. Thank you Blake.I only wish the Payless employees where as professional as Blake the Avis customer care employee. Apparently Playless is a subsidiary of Avis. Avis should rename the company to GetLess because that would be honest.
Surprise Fees. I booked my car online. Went to pick my car up at the Tulsa Oklahoma airport. Was told I needed a major credit card with 200 dollars on it in addition to the price I paid for the rental. The young lady at the counter named Jade was very rude and also unprofessional. Not only to me but the customer, who was an older gentleman before me. I’m an Air Force veteran and I’ve never been treated so poorly.
