We kept having the service traction control and service stabilitrak light randomly coming on in our 2007 Chevy Tahoe. The first mechanic I took it to couldn’t diagnose the problem and recommended we take it to the dealership where they have more advanced equipment to diagnose the issue. I decided to have Scott and his crew check it out. They figured out the issue and had it repaired the same day. We’ve always had a positive experience when using Sherwood Auto Repair.

I needed 60k service for my car and right off the bat I appreciated that they needed to see my car first before providing an estimate. I ended up getting an oil change and change of cabin filter, along with replacing my rear wiper blade. My favorite part that I appreciated was that they didn’t try to sell me on the oil change. Spent extra time searching for issues with loss of power. Diagnosed a weak engine, which was assumed, but didnt push for major repairs. Gave me the report and I was happy to pay for the diagnosis, even though the news was not the best for me.

I had some work done on my car about 6 months. They were fast and reasonably affordable. Car had an issue that was covered under there warranty. My husband and I are in the 65 and above category, so we haven’t been leaving the house for anything during this COVID crisis except going to the post office after hours. We sorely needed the oil changed in one of our vehicles, so I called around for prices and to see who would do pick-up and delivery. Oil change prices were pretty comparable for all places I called, but the very few who would pick-up and deliver charged exorbitant prices; that is, until I found Sherwood Auto Repair. They picked up our vehicle, serviced it, and brought it back to us for just the price of an oil change. NO extra fees; wouldn’t even take a tip! Bob said they were just doing their part during this crisis. I HIGHLY recommend Sherwood Auto Repair.

Scott LaPlante is a great man. I have been taking my cars to him for all services and all repairs for 25 years and it shows in the longevity of my two 2004 Yukon Denalis. I currently have over 270,000 miles on each vehicle and while they have been used to haul heavy cargo and tow a very large boat, neither have needed a new transmission or rebuilt engine. I know others with the same vehicle that are on their 3rd transmission. I have especially appreciated Scott and Bob when I’m low on cash and need their advice on prioritizing which repairs can “wait until next time.” They put in the extra time to find parts that last longer than OEM, like rear brakes that my cars are notorious for using up quickly and maintenance procedures that truly work. They have done major work on other cars for me and have always been extremely knowledgeable and proficient. They warranty the parts and guaranty their work if it fails. I trust Scott and the attention he puts into his business more than I trust my doctor, and my doctor is excellent. Scott is better!

Sherwood Auto Repair is the perfect community repair shop.Ive been going there for about three years and had many visits with my older Kia Soul, including oil changes, new brakes, new battery, and other maintenance issues. I have found these guys to be honest about what they find, what repairs I need and are really quick to get the service done. Their prices are fair and they dont pressure or sell up to get you to do repairs or service you dont need.A couple of times I couldnt stay for the repair, and I since live close enough Scott gave me a ride home. Ive since found out that this is part of their service if you request it. Its nice to chitchat and get to know your repair guys on a personal level and Im sure they feel the same, getting to know their customers. This is what makes Sherwood Auto Repair feel like part of the community to me.They even sent me a coupon that pretty much covered an entire oil change as a thank you for being a customer. Ive also had to wait in the waiting room for oil changes, and it is clean and comfortable with wifi and coffee available. I took my truck in to get DEQ tested with the new DEQtoo program because I wanted to avoid the lines at the DEQ station in Sherwood. The guys at Sherwood Auto repair quickly tested my truck and had me ready to go in 10 mins. After the test you receive a paper from the DEQtoo website giving instructions on the next steps. After reading the instructions I noticed that it states that this program and the E-Certificate you receive is only for previously registered vehicles. I just recently purchased my truck and needed to register it for the first time. I asked the tech about that and he said if the certificate did not work for me, he would refund the cost. I did some research when I got home and confirmed that it would not work. I called Sherwood Auto Repair and explained what I learned so they could pass on the info and they refunded me the cost! These guys are friendly and honest and I would not hesitate to take my vehicle there for repair next time I need it.

My car failed to pass the DEQ test so I brought it to SAR. Their appointment time was about a week out which was better than I expected. They are very professional, kind and honest. The price to fix my car was very reasonable. Most importantly they take the safety of people during the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak very seriously with their protocols and I commend their adherence to safety and the prevention of further spread, I would highly recommend SAR just because of this.

Ive been doing business with Scott for - well - Im really not sure HOW long but its over 15-20 years for sure! Hes always been straight up and does what he says hell do - plus takes care of it if a part fails or they miss something they should have caught. Its rare I ever need to revisit - when they fix it...its fixed! They also do good with the preventative maintenance - letting you know what could potentially be a problem if not fixed soon.

I can not recommend Bob and his crew enough. I had my car in for its timing chain when I got a call from Bob saying that they had accidentally damaged part of my car and they were going to need it for another couple of days. They were very honest about what was going on and even set me up with a rental since it was going to take them longer then expected. Once I got my car back, the issue was completely resolved and I couldnt be more happier with Bob, Scott, and the rest of the crew.

I took my Chrysler 300C SRT8 into them when the car kept failing to start after several attempts. The car kept burning up the ground wires. I replaced the starter, and over the summer had replaced several other critical sensors, but did not touch the electrical connections. I could not figure out why the car would not start. Seemed like a dead battery, but after testing the battery voltage and the wires for continuity, everything checked out. After a day in the shop, the technician found the issue was as simple as some ground wires which were loose and a few misplaced ones as well. Not sure how that happened as I never touched the ground wires in the car, but overall, and for a couple hundred dollars, the issue is fixed and my car is driveable again. They could have socked me with you need this or that replaced, but they did not. They were honest and straight forward and cost me very little to have a professional shop look at the car to resolve the problem, and they did. My car had been in another shop for over 3 weeks during the summer, and that shop could not figure out the problem. Thumbs up to the Sherwood Auto Repair team for sure. Nice job and I will continue to use your services as needed in the future.

Thankful for their help.Over two years ago, I had my catalytic converter changed. Unfortunately it went bad again just before needing a DEQ test, recently. As it was two years and 30,000 miles later I assumed any warranty would be outdated. Scott called the vendor/manufacturer and as there was a defect with the original product it was covered. I just had to pay the difference for the upgraded catalytic converter. They didn’t charge for the work to replace it. I even think I got a free oxygen sensor as they couldn’t remove the old one without damaging it. I do believe this place is honest and they will stay as close to the quote as they possibly can. Definitely a company with strong ethics. I would recommend.
