I started taking riding lessons here a few weeks ago and it was the best choice I could have ever made. Kathleen took the time to chat with me beforehand and eased any worries or concerns I had as a beginner rider. Kate my instructor is amazing, she knows how to get you past your riding fears and build your confidence. Her patience and way with people is something you dont find often, she makes every moment an opportunity for learning and doesnt ever make you feel silly for asking questions. This barn is my total happy place, wonderful lesson horses and everyone Ive met there is kind, the environment alone is very confidence boosting. I cant imagine learning anywhere else.
I love Placid Hills and all the people. I have been riding there for a month now and I already feel like part of the family. The staff is so friendly and awesome. Id give Placid Hills 10 stars if I could!
My spouse and I were starting a move to Troy, NY from Canada back in January. I found Placid Hills Farms as a stable to bring my Thoroughbred to. Placid Hill was the 4th farm I looked at and knew immediately thats where he was going to go. Kathleen is super knowledgeable and very organized, she gave me a brochure with detailed info about the feed they use as I was unsure how to do a switch over of grain. The facility is gorgeous, very well maintained. Everyone was so friendly and inviting, made me feel right at home. I confirmed a stall with them and was supposed to move in on Apr 1st. COVID unfortunately stopped our plans for moving to NY. We were in limbo for several months before we knew for sure we wouldnt make it there and Kathleen was so patient with me over the months. She offered any help she could for us. I recently gave the final news that we would not be making it to NY, Kathleen advised she was excited to have us come be part of their family and if we ever make it she will have a stall ready to go for us. There are not too many genuine horse businessout there but Placid Hills is definitely one of them. I will go straight there if we end up moving to NY once COVID settles.
My daughters happy place.
Placid Hills Farm should be renamed Unkept Hills Farm. The owners Joe and Kathleen Sessa are liars and crooks schemers and scammers. They lie to your face without batting an eye. They are incompetent and cheat their own farm laborers. One word, BEWARE!!!
We have had our horses here for 4 years, I have had horses most of my life and have boarded at many facilities around the country. Placid Hills is a Fantastic place, always accommodating every horse & owners needs everyday of the week. ( I think to their fault). I am at the stable almost everyday and I have always seen great care and knowledge from nutrition to weather alerts. I have seen many inexperienced horse owners make false statements because they have been asked to leave due to their dangerous and toxic behavior and I applaud the owners and staff for standing by their commitment to keep a peaceful and enjoyable environment for all of us.
I’ve boarded horses here for a long time and I can personally say my experience was AMAZING! The staff was extremely welcoming, the owners Kathleen and Joe were so helpful and wonderful. The trainers are amazing and have extraordinary methods of teaching people of all ages. Everyone there is friendly and creates a very positive environment. The horses are treated with great care and their stalls are cleaned daily. I would 100% recommend going here if you need somewhere to board.
Love it! LOVE THE INDOOR ARENAS! started with lessons to get a feel for the atmosphere before a brought my horse to board. Have been here for 2 years and love the care my horse gets and that my requests are documented and fulfilled!
Enjoyed my experience great horse care, great barn beautiful grounds.Had to move for work and finding very difficult to find same level of care and effort. Miss Placidhills!! you guys are the best!
Kathleen and Nicole took me on a walk through the farm. Was a beautiful experience. The indoor arena is amazing. I cannot wait till it snows and I can still ride my horse! In the meantime I am looking forward to stabling my horse at the barn and enjoying the outdoor areas.
We have been at Placid Hills for one year and have found the facilities and care to be wonderful. Many stables leave the horses in stalls the majority of the day, and we were pleasantly surprised to find turnout here is between 9am-4pm. The paddocks are generously sized, and the horses have ample fresh air, grass and exercise. The actual stalls are large, too. There is one small and one large indoor training arena, as well as 2 outside arenas and riding track. Brunswick is a very beautiful area of New York and there are many riding trails we may use. Love it here. Makes owning a horse a true pleasure!
Beautiful barns and property. Owners & Staff are friendly and accommodating! Great horse care in a peaceful environment!
Placid Hills has superior facilities that accommodate every rider. There is a huge indoor arena, multiple outdoor arenas, along with miles of trails. Well trained staff take meticulous care of the animals and grounds. These stables house an uplifting and exited community of horse enthusiasts that create the perfect environment.
This facility is amazing. My wife and I walked through the grounds and everything was absolutely perfect. Joe and Kathleen are wonderful people. If you are looking for a place to board your horse you cannot find a better spot.
Awesome Place! Ive been here for 5 years boarding my 2 horses, amazing horse care. ( Stallionrose should be arrested for posting a gross false inaccurate lie - about a supposed friends horse - HA) I have seen all aspects of this farm from a customer and working it they have every detail written, placed and check with feed, turnout, horse care, and specialty needs performed and documented everyday more than any stables Ive been in the last 15 years of owning horses. My 2 horses and every horse Ive ever seen at Placid Hills has the Best in Class care!!
Ive had horses for years. And this farm has some of the nicest stalls and arenas I have ever seen. Im definitely going to board my horse here over the winter.
I boarded my horse at Placid Hills for two years. When I first moved there the care was wonderful, the barn manager awesome and I was so relieved to know that my horse was being taken care of correctly. That changed when the barn manager left. Since that time there has been massive staff turnover. Some of the staff has only one or two days experience before they are left taking care of the horses. There is a huge disconnect between the barn owners and the horses and it is filled with people who do not know how to care for or handle.horses. To the point of putting horses in the wrong stalls or trying to change over the head blankets in the paddock on a windy day with no lead or halter and a second horse loose in the paddock. Despite charging a blanketing fee, the horses were not always blanketed correctly or at all. The grounds were neglected to the point where winter turnout was not possible and fences were in disrepair resulting in horses getting loose from paddocks. All claims here are documented and can be substantiated. I give one star only because it is not possible with thisapp to give no stars.
My family takes lessons at Placid Hills. Knowledgeable, patient and fun trainers.Great People, Great Farm.
Truly great place to work and ride! The facilities are pristine and well maintained. The staff are always extremely nice and helpful! This is the place to be!
Only barn in the area that offers as much turnout as you’d like. Multiple areas to ride. Diverse disciplines. Laid back facilities.
Wonderful people! Gorgeous Farm! Well manicured grounds beautiful animals! I cannot wait to go back!
Beautiful place. Helpful staff. Great place for yourself and horse.
I have been riding & boarding my horses for 25 + years, this is by far one of the Best ran Horse Facility I have experienced. I was appalled to read the absurd review from a substandard ex worker with minimal horse knowledge Dakota Wilcox & girl friend Heather Wescott. ( whom has no life experience or business experience at 20 years old and has been at placid hills 2 times, she’s just a hater )...It’s a sad sign of our times when people are allowed to write complete lies and they get posted. I have been here for 3 years and my horses are cared for at the highest level I have experienced and my personal requests are always accommodated by staff and the owner Kathleen who has it all down to a science & Spreedsheets. Have to love a real professional!I would give Place Hills 10 Stars..
Great facilty, 8 months of Riding & Boarding. The continuous effort is very impressive. very clean, very helpful staff, great communication for request, info. & updates. alot of barns in the area can learn from this facility.
Super clean.. Wonder staff and facility :)
This stable was AMAZING! Being from Southern California and around some of the most beautiful Equestrian Centers in the world, like Coto de Caza, Placid Hill Stables was even NICER!!!! I did not even know they existed, and then to find out that they are right here in Troy??? I have taken three lessons so far and I am TOTALLY hooked! The indoor arenas are SOOO well kept and spotless. The setting is acres and acres of lush green trails to explore. But beyond the breathtaking location and beyond the very friendly staff, to me, the horses say it all. Each and every horse looked so well loved and cared for. As I walked through the barns I found each horse happily relaxing in their stalls and eager to meet anyone who passed by. I have never seen such HAPPY HORSES!I am just thankful that Placid Hills did the Groupon special otherwise I may never have found them.If you LOVE horses, green trails, huge indoor arenas and super encouraging staff, then GO VISIT this stable! You will be SOOOOOO glad you did! :O)
