I worked for Populus for just under a year. The onboarding was confusing and unhelpful. I was injured on the job and had to call corporate headquarters to get ahold of anyone because my contact, their boss, and my recruiter wouldn’t answer. This was in the middle of the day not some obscure time either. To top it off their poor financial situation caused me to lose out on the rest of my PTO before I left. Would not recommend.

Dont bother applying for a position with PG. They will tell you a ton of incorrect information about the position and then say that they have never said that while insinuating that you made everything up (saying that positions are salary when they are really hourly, bonus structure, position details, etc.). A major issue that I experienced was how combative they are when speaking and annoyed when you ask simple questions; this is all while promoting that they are very open to all conversations and that all questions are good questions. Ive worked in high-end Customer Service positions for the past 5 years for well known companies and I can say, without a doubt, that this has been the worst experience communicating with a group of people that I have ever had. They need to get it together and have the same communicate across board.

Populus Group is easy to work with. They respond promptly to my questions and update me on changes to my contract from my company. Entering my time worked each week is easy with their system and payment into my bank account is always on time.

No one ever answers the phones, they were quick when it came to setting me up with the position but after that none of the numbers or emails that I had for them ever responded to my questions/concerns.I’ve been calling and emailing for a month and leaving messages left and right and no one has gotten back to me.

Ive been working with Populus Group for 7 months. So far I dont have any issues with them and I even recommend people thats working with them too. My recruiter Mr Charles and others from the group call me regularly to check up and me and make sure Im doing ok. I highly recommend them.

Update after the last review : Change the review to 5 star. Get a response from Populus group one week ago about my W2. People are still nice and humble. Understand things happens! Really appreciated the owner who is on the top of everything!!!Last review:Populus Group used to be very good and I do not know what happened this year. Got a back pay the year before and ask how to deal with tax(Am I going to get a W2 or 1099?). Emailed 2 times, leave a voice message and talked to a receptionist . No one feedback to me. Do not know what to do!

If you are looking to get a h1b visa, do not join this company. My visa got selected twice in lottery but the incompetent immigration team couldn’t get it approved both the times. No follow up no response. They just carry on with their lives.

I realize that my experience might be due to the unprofessional staff assigned to our mutual customer ‘s account, but I am having a horrible experience with Populus Group.Just one example: I was asked to lower my contract rate to the lowest number I would be willing to accept. I did so in good faith, and time after time after time, they send me statements of work for different rates. They have attempted to lower my pay mid-contract. Sometimes they blame our customer, but I get inconsistent stories, so at least some of the time, I know I’m not being dealt with honestly.Communication stinks. I think I’ve talked to my contacts there maybe two or three times in almost a year. There’s no advance notice if they want to make a change.Truly the worst experience I’ve had with a primary contractor in 10 years of independent consulting work.

This company is continuously dropping the ball. As an employee I have had my paycheck delayed twice now but others have experienced this more than that. If the agreement is for you to be paid on a certain day than that is what should happen. It is hard to get in contact with someone. This unprofessional business practice is disgusting and I truly believe authorities should be contacted if it continues. Pay people on time and start doing your jobs.

Also experienced the unprofessionalism from this company. I’m actually quite confused as to how they even managed to achieve the opportunity to push paper for a mutual client, and that is all they seem to do- push paper and also markup the rate to the client for poor service. Hopefully this trend will swing back the other way soon and clients will again do direct contracts with suppliers.

I wish I had option to give negative(-5) rating for Populus Group. This is worst place to work. I had to compromise my career for their negligence and miscommunications. First they started processing my H1B without proper documentation(MSA/SOW/Client letter). They never told me this until I receive RFE on my case. By then I was stuck with them for many months and no other company was ready to hire me until I get visa approved from them. They were successful in getting denial and they blamed client for that indeed client told them since beginning that they wont provide certain documentation. Again I had no choice but to join them to save my career as none of the employer feeling safe to hire me. My visa was pending for 15 months 2nd time. In these 15 months, they never tried to followup with USCIS and never bothered to respond to my queries. When contract came to an end abruptly, they threatened me to withdraw visa immediately unless I get another project within 1 week (without arranging single interview). My immigration recruiter was not supportive enough if I find any vendor who was ready to support me. She considered working only with national recruiter from TekSystems without considering my career interest. She consistently threatened me to withdraw visa to land me in project where I had to relocate for different city. Since my i-797 was about to expire and after lot of request they converted my case in premium after 2 years. I suppose to hear the status in 15 days, and requested them to postpone my joining date until I hear the status as I had to move out of the country immediately if I hear the denial. After lot of drama, they made me move to new location without paying sufficient relocation or offering any accommodation. My visa got denied in 10 days after my move. I had to pay lease breakage of $5000 which they never bothered to take on their head. They never agreed to reimburse my expenses for moving to new location. 2nd time my visa got denied for submitting 15 month old client letter. Within a month I had to pay more than $15000 bills for their irresponsibility and hoping to save my career. I developed insomnia and anxiety in turn facing health complications because of my immigration recruiters consistent threatening and restlessness of attend interviews and between the moves. Indeed I requested they never bothered to pay for travel to face to face interviews or salary for the day of interview.I felt like am I dealing with human beings? I never seen such ruthless human beings enjoys sucking your blood until they can use you and trash you in corner once they done. All of ruthless activity they do saying that this is company policy: 1) It is company policy to withdraw visa on last day of assignment without supporting a day on bench indeed candidate is non-productive because of companys mistakes. 2) It is company policy to process visa without documentation and without informing you of the truthful information. 3) It is company policy not to share RFE or denial notice with you, you just need to trust them whatever they are doing is for your good.4) It is their company policy not to actively search project once the contact has been done. It is on you to search project and proper vendors. Indeed you manage to search project of your interest, immigration recruiter never feels like responding to vendor to setup interview. Then she joins a national recruiter from TekSystems and keeps on blaming you for not finding project and enjoys humiliating you and pushing you to attend interviews which is not of your interest. I am not sure I got such narcissistic recruiter to communicate with or in general all of them are trained to behave so. Immigration specialist/pay role team, none of them are professional either. You keep getting frustrated because you never get response to your emails in crucial time. I just stuck with them waiting for visa more than 2 years and earning revenue for them. Zero communication and never feel trusted/secured. I was Just been used for 2 years until they screw my career.

These guys are doing the 3rd party authorizing for the company Im working for in San Antonio. Ive gotten errant emails, emails not sent that I was supposed to reply to, delays in my pay check. Not only that, but every time Im contacted its by somebody new and I never know whom to talk to in order to sort anything out. Not sure if all employment agencies do this same thing, but I would avoid this one.

Not that great company If your expecting an H1b work visa then your in trouble they dont share RFE, dont every apply h1b through this company if you do so your done .
