I was greeted as I walked. All my questions were answered and Ryan was extremely helpful. Definitely sending anyone with Apple questions there!
CityMac in Traverse City was amazing. I sent my computer in to be looked at (via mail, as closest Mac service center and 3 hrs away). They called me as soon as they received it and went over the game plan for checking it out. Later I was called with an update by Christina with what she had found so far. She was able to contact Apple for me and get two different replacement parts free of charge. I was ready to buy an entire new laptop, and I am thankful that CityMac cared more about fixing my computer than selling me a new one when it wasn’t needed. They also shipped it back to me straight away. Thank you! I would 100% recommend this business to anyone!!!
I was having difficulty finding a working auxiliary cord for my Moto Z. The employee there was very patient and helpful. He waited for me to go get my headphones out of my car so we could check them to see if it would work and he cleaned out dust and debris from my phones USB port. I found the item I needed and the customer service was a solid 10/10.
Great Apple Store for Traverse City and Northern Michigan, friendly and professional staff and plenty of Apple Products. I purchased a New MacBook Pro, and had the information from my old MacBook Protransferred, everything was done perfectly. The accessories I purchased performed as promised, the entire transition was truly exceptional. I highly recommend CityMac in Traverse for your next ApplePurchase.
Went in for advice/help with iPad. Parker was quick, honest & best of all; very helpful. Each time I visit City Mac, I leave feeling lucky we have this store.
The employee was unable to provide the desired information over the phone and said I had to come all the way into the store, which I did just to have my time wasted. Poor customer service. Do not recommend.
Some of the employees were nice, but the lady who diagnosed my computer and told me I had to pay $900 to fix a computer with minimal corrosion and basically told me I was lying to her, did not provide great service. I paid $60 for her to tell me there was corrosion and I needed a new computer basically. Come to find out I open it up myself at home and put it back together and it works fine. Almost a year and a half later Ive had zero problems the computer. Not impressed with my experience and hope they can learn from it. I need to clarify that this post mostly criticizes the customer service - I have no doubts that everyone here can do their job and knows 100000% more about computers than I do. I felt belittled and like I was stupid and could be taken advantage of. It just sucks to pay people with that kind of attitude. And the fact that a miracle occurred with my computer, maybe the Tech should have been a little bit more respectful, because maybe they were wrong and there wasnt as much corrosion as she dramatically made it seem. AND, yes, I received my computer fully closed back up... but I opened it myself, thinking it was totally dead. But, for the $60 I paid, I thought the tech would look more into the computer than just saying yup, theres corrosion. Obviously there was more to it, as my computer magically works fine now. Still typing this on my magic computer. Oh, and Im sure you dont have records of anyone named Coolbeansss ... wouldnt exactly expect that.
I drove 150 miles after getting assurances that they had the parts that were needed to fix my phone. Spoiler alert: they did not.
A few weeks ago, my old MacBook Pro died a very sudden death. Unfortunately, dead computers never come at a good time. It was a Friday and we were headed out of town the following Tuesday, early.City Mac had the inventory we needed and Bishop provided the information to make our decision easier. We choose the MacBook Air because we don’t run large programs like PhotoShop. He helped us choose a DVD component and a storage component, head phones, and connectivity jacks since the USB slots are different now.Not only did he do all this, he set up my computer and was able to access the dead computer’s content and added it to my new hard drive. It was all ready to go the next day.Bishop listened to what we wanted, asked the right questions to help us make decisions and then facilitated our turn around time so that we could leave on time for our trip. At all times he was courteous and polite. So glad he was there and that he helped us so nicely. Id ask for his help for my next purchase, for sure! We just thought people should know.
I took in my iPad because it stopped working. I’m pretty sure the battery was shot. We asked if they could replace the battery but they said that it is a to “Intense” process to do. Then they said they could replace the whole iPad for 400$ mind you this iPad only costed 100$. So I would not go there for repairs because they won’t fix it. Which is really stupid.
Rude employee and condescending manager. I cannot wear a mask for a medical reason and the employee was very rude and refused to acknowledge that I was in fact allowed in without a mask if it was for a medical reason. Violation of the Americans with disabilities act and HIPPA by discriminating against me for a medical condition and asking me what prevented me from wearing a mask. Will not be a customer in the future.I would also like to add that this is the ONLY business in the Grand Traverse Mall that has had an issue and treated me this way over being unable to wear a mask.
If you need your Apple products taken care of, this is the place. I made an appointment after Apple gave me numerous options to bring my phone to. I read review after review and after sorting out the poor customer reviews that are poor because of the customer, I am glad I chose CityMac. From setting the appointment, taking my phone in and picking it up; communication and service from Zeb was excellent. The entire team was really top notch. I was third in line, waiting to drop my phone off, and I was actually greeted. I dont know of any place that even greets the first person in line, let alone the 2nd and 3rd person. Even returning to pick up my phone I was greeted instantly by someone who was helping another customer and was told someone would be right with me. I turned around and someone was already there to help me pick up my phone. I have never had service this great from ANY store I have ever been too.
In two separate trips to City Mac for two different purposes in the last year - one for technical assistance and one for training - I have been very pleased with the help I received. The first time was to determine the cause of a concern I had. I truly appreciate the option that is offered to talk with a technician during an overview of the problem (for a reasonable fee); my problem was resolved during this time. On the other occasion I paid for one-on-one training pertaining to specific questions I had about my Mac. I am so thankful for the friendly, relevant, well explained information I received. Thank you, CityMac!
Had a great experience! Corey restored my contacts, photos & lost data after I did an Apple update. I HIGHLY recommend City Mac!!!
Had my IPhone insurance claim fulfilled here, within an hour of submitting my claim with apple, Christina called me to get the ball rolling. I showed up and she checked out the phone, ordered the new one, and answered all my questions. The next day at 11am she called me to let me know my phone was in. Went in, David and Parker helped me set up the new phone and in one day I have a brand new phone! Thanks citymac!
I bought a Macbook Air several years ago now (switching for the first time from a PC) and, because it is exactly what I needed & works so well, I havent had a need to go into the store very often. Every time I have, though, the service is great. Its the place I go with all my Apple questions, as they never make me feel dumb, they are trustworthy, and no pressure. They are a business with a lot of integrity.
Excellent service. honest, too. I dont worry about receipts, warranties, etc. as they track all that automatically. Had a new iPhone go fritzy on me last year, they replaced it in 24 hours, even though I had bought it from the carrier (not CityMac). I intend to buy Any future Apple stuff from them.
This store has the worst service of any Apple dealer I have used. Christina in the service department cannot diverge from her script. When a request is made that does not fit he script, she gets ill tempered with customers. I have quit using them altogether and just use Apples support directly. Shipping products to Apple for repair does not cost more than CityMac and usually is a faster turnaround as well. As an added bonus, you know it will be done correctly the first time and you do not have to work with ornery support techs.Edit: Apple didnt have a problem repairing it when you refused. I mailed it to them without the drive that you said had to be in it. They fixed it and didnt give me any hassle.
I have had nothing but good experiences dealing with the people at City Mac. I have purchased computers, and have had many various upgrades and maintenance performed by their service department over the last ten or so years. Always prompt, polite and professional. You can always talk to a human when you call! Nice touch! This is not one of those goofy convoluted Apple Stores you get in larger cities, thank the gods! If you have ever had to have service performed at one of those stores you will realize what a gem this place is! City Mac is a very nice store and if you need service, this is a simple get it done kinda place.
You can walk in and they are helpful
My wife and I were in the market for a new MacBook to replace our decade old one. We went into CityMac to inquire about our options and start the process. We were greeted by Jeff and the rest is history. We explained what we were looking to do and integrate from. Jeff gave highly insightful responses and recommendations. Jeff pointed us not only to the computer that best fit our demands, but also provided insight as to how we would take this machine and merge it with our other devices & media. I was also impressed that Jeff didnt try to up-sell us, but instead directed us to what we needed and what best fit our budget. I will always refer Mac users in our area to CityMac and I will seek any service/tech/purchase needs from CityMac from here on out. Im a firm believer in the saying, You get what you pay for., but with CityMac you get more!!!
This place is terrible. I called to order a replacement part. No problem. 5 minutes later I learned that the part was unnecessary. I called back immediately to cancel the order. They stated that they were charging me a $50 restocking fee on a $100 part. None of this was disclosed prior to ordering. Stay away.
The microphone on my iphone broke and the staff here at City Mac helped me out with sending the phone to Apple. They gave me a loaner phone while my phone was being repaired at no cost to me. They called me with updates and were very professional during the whole process. I wasn’t pressured to buy anything either. I’d recommend this business to anyone with an Apple product.
Great Services, finally Got the computer I have been saving up for, Thanks Misti in sales
They don’t even deserve one star. Worst customer service ever. They treated me like I didn’t know anything and charged an absolutely outrageous amount to tell me that the hard drive was out (which I already knew). Never ever come here. You’ll be disappointed.
Thank you City Mac Christina and Misti! We had the best service and were completely satisfied! We had read a poor review so we were almost afraid to go in to City Mac. We called before going in and the guy on the phone said Come on in and give us a chance. We did and glad we did. My moms iPad had crashed and we didnt know what to do. It was up and running in 30 minutes! Thank you City Mac!!!
Parker and Bishop did a great job helping my boyfriend restore his iPhone. Would come back any time we had any other issues with our apple products.
I buy all my Apple Equipment from Jeff and the gang at CityMac. Professional sales, service and support after the purchase are key with technology. Wether you are and experienced apple user or a new convert CityMac is your place to shop for all things Apple!
On a long trip from Florida my phone slipped out of my van and the screen broke. I like to support local, smaller businesses so - first thing Monday morning I was at City Mac. Corey let me know what my options were and sent me on my way with a solution even though city Mac made no money off of me. In a world where we have to beg for customer service it was so unusual to be taken care of so thoroughly.
I have purchased multiple computers there and have had excellent support when needed. They have been super patient and have always gone the extra mile to make sure I leave with a computer that is ready to go. I cant recommend them enough!
BEWARE! STAY AWAY. I brought my MacBook in and showed the tech the problem I was having. He said he needed a day to diagnose it. The next day he called and said he couldn’t re-create the issue I was having, but that he found another problem that he could fix for $850. I told him I wasn’t aware of that issue and that I just want him to fix the problem I brought it in for, and again explained how to recreate the issue. The next day he called and said he still couldn’t get it to recreate the issue, but reiterated how I should pay him $850 to fix a problem that I had never experienced. I told him to forget it. When I picked it up, I did exactly what I told him to do and within 20 seconds the issue appeared. Then, to top it off … they wanted to charge me $60 to “diagnose” a problem that they never actually diagnosed.I then went on the Apple website and live chatted with a technician and he was able to easily (and free) walk me through a diagnosis. He then said I should send it in and that they would fix whatever the problem was for a flat fee of $475. I sent it in on Monday and got it back on Thursday, and its worked perfect ever since.STAY AWAY FROM CITY MAC - they are SCAMMERS. My advice - work directly with Apple. They are fast, convenient and honest. The opposite of City Mac.
My only disappointment was you didn’t have the product on hand and I couldn’t take advantage of purchasing at City Mac.
These guys are the worst. Youre better off driving downstate to an actual Apple Store. If you know even a little bit about Apple products, you know more than the jokers at this place. I miss living near a legit Apple Store.
If you have RAM to sell then why cant you sell it to me? The technician needs to install it. Its is literally a three minute deal I said. He said No, Im not selling it to you. You can have the technician install it or go somewhere else. Yeah youll install it for a whopping 250 dollars! The RAM online on amazon sells for 49 bucks. Unless I am actually buying a computer there, I will never go back.
I went in with a seemingly easy fix, just a phone stuck in recovery mode, and the guy there did literally the same steps that I did at home. He didnt try anything else, and he just told me to send it to Apple and I might have to replace the whole phone. I went home, did a little more researching, and I fixed the problem in less the time that it took him to explain my problem. Granted, it was a little difficult because I was using a strange iOS 11 beta, so I will give two stars for that, but still. I could fix it when a trained worker could not. I will not return with any more iPhone problems.
Great customer service and so helpful.
It is a mystery that this place is still in business. Every time I have gone in for an item or repair of a device they dont the item or are confused by my apple device and want to send it out for repair. Today, I foolishly went there and before I could even explain the problem their solution was send it out.
Jackals. Was not at CityMac I was across the way at Subway.
Always eager to help me with my problems no matter how small and dumb my questions are. The service is great, fast and courteous!
Great experience! I have never had such a pleasant and knowledgeable salesperson as Jeff Broderick.
Okay. So my friend needed to get his screen and digitizer fixed on his iPhone 6. They told us we needed to replace the whole phone because there was more than screen damage to the phone. I.e. Headphone jack. The screen would of cost $120; thats all we needed done, but then they said itll be over $300 because the headphone jack was bent. We decided to take our business to battery plus across the street. $169.99 and they fixed the phone in less than two hours. Shitty Mac wanted to send it into apple with pending charges. If u need screen fixed dont waste your time here. Theyll just try to make you pay more for stuff you do not need.
Came in with a broken mbp and left with a new mbp, they were super helpful and answered my myriad of questions with patience. Also super quick service, they migrated my data from my old laptop to the new one quickly as I had drove a distance. I also loved that they have all of the products in stock, was great to demo a few things Ive been eyeing. Will def return for future needs!
When I needed to replace my six-year-old MacBook Pro, I wasnt sure what had changed with MacBooks in such a long time. The representative walked me through the options and the features and answered all my questions, but never pressured me. He was knowledgable and relaxed about the whole process. When I made my choice, he helped me get set up to transfer my data onto my new computer. Classes were also available for me, and I love the blog posts that keep me updated on all things Apple. I know that if I have any questions or problems, CityMac is the place to go.
I had an issue with my 2015 MacBook Pro keyboard and trackpad not working. I agreed to the $79 diagnostic fee and $60 data backup without them even considering trying anything with it. A few hours later they were recommending a new keyboard and trackpad for over $300. I asked them how the did the data transfer and they indicated that they used an external usb keyboard. This was never even suggested to me upon arrival. I could have connected my own USB keyboard and done my own backup for FREE before deciding how to proceed. As it turns out, they put the screws back in and...guess what, the keyboard and trackpad magically worked. Of course, they didn’t bother checking to see that. I found it out at the counter where I was ready to pay them $139 for an unnecessary backup and removal and replacement of a few screws. Of course, the owner (Jeff) said that I was very lucky and that the computer probably won’t continue working for long. He had scripted answers to my concerns about the possibility of me having chosen to have the keyboard and trackpad unnecessarily replaced and explicitly stated that they would never consider offering alternatives to their current standard operating procedures...a.k.a. taking advantage of customers under duress. After all, who isn’t under duress when their computer suddenly stops working. In the end Jeff charged me $50 instead of $79 for the “diagnosis” and $60 for the backup...$110 that I wish I still had. I wish Corey ran his own shop as he’s the one getting two stars for excellent communication skills. Jeff (the owner) comes across as pretentious and belittling with a bad habit of interrupting and gets 0/3 stars from me. I’m sure he’ll probably have an eloquent response to my lengthy review. Customers should be extremely cautious if they think there might be any other possible solutions to their problems. City Mac won’t bother offering any less expensive options. It doesn’t fit into their business model. :-(
They are very slow. They is no customer service in their vocabulary and they treat you your stupid and prices are stupid
They thought I broke my brand new ear pods so I could replace them with new ear pods. Why would I want to swap out my new EarPods with the exact same thing. They were not old at all. Genius Bar dumbasses.
I have to pass along my compliments to their team, more so to Christina in their service department. I went in to the store at around 5:30pm after my beloved MacBook Pro went on the blink. Christina right from the start was very professional and respectful. She diagnosed the problem within a few minutes and said everything should be all set within a couple of days. (that already was amazing)The issue I had was apparently shared with others in that Apple was basically doing a recall for the graphics card. When I learned that 100% parts/labor was covered, I about had a heart attack. Christina nicely said shed have to verify my laptop had no internal damage like a liquid spill; she called me not 10 minutes after I left the store saying its all set and the parts are on order.I receive a call today around lunch time the next day from her saying that the part was overnighted and she had fixed my computer.I have not experienced a better customer experience before - kudos to Christina and to their team.I highly recommend CityMac to others. They get it and understand the product - thats not always the case at big box stores.
The entire staff is awesome. They fixed my phone, which was supposedly not fixable and I couldnt be happier! Every time that Ive come in they were very helpful.
I brought my Mac Book Pro in because the trackpad was acting squirrely. They had it fixed in less than two hours and took the time to double check to see if it was under warranty with out me having to ask. Thank you for the excellent customer service!
Repair service was excellent. I disagree with previous comments. He was very clear on explaining, and when I asked questions I wasnt treated like the nim-nut I really am when it comes to computer jargon, which I have found to be irritating in other repair services on the phone, or in the area stores. Thanks for treating me like a real person MacCity!!Cost for repair is a little high, but that is determined by the company, not the store, (thats why the 4 stars, or it would have been 5).I also appreciate not getting the Hard Sale because my 8 year old MacBook Pro is considered obsolete. If I could afford one, Id get it, so dont bug me, and they dont at that store! Just a gentle nudge, and that was it!Very helpful staff, willing to think through your problem with you, rather than stand there and look superior, or in a rush.
I came in with several issues from two factor identification, to hot spot questions and Bishop made my day in record time. i think you should give him a raise by christmans
I am reluctant to give even two stars. CityMac provided me with the worst customer service I have ever received. I wont go in to all of the details; so to make the long story short, upon being charged for a service (that in my situation, I did not need/request) I asked to speak to a manager. Jeff, one of the managers, called me back later that afternoon and lectured me on how I was wrong and did not understand their system of doing things. He would not budge, and I ended up having to pay a ridiculous $210 to replace a $30 hard drive connector cable. So glad to have my MacBook back in working condition; however, I do not recommend CityMac. Quite unsatisfied and will not be returning...
They repaired my phone at a discount after damage was done to it from what I thought was a repair but was instead water damage. Great service. I will definitely return.
The support staff was great! Misti and another gentleman (cant remember his name- tall, young, blond) helped me and my Dad.I brought 2 iPads in for help - 1 needing itune sync-up, and the other with a severly cracked screen. Misti explained very clearly my options for both. She was able to reset my one iPad without any loss of data, and helped me setup icloud backup so i wouldnt lose anything in the future if out-of-sync occurred again. She also explained my options for replacement of cracked ipad.Additionly, we brought in a mouse that stopped working - only to find out it had inadvertently been turned off. The guy was very friendly about it & didnt make us feel like goofs for not having figured it out on our own.Thank you for the help! We are both satisfied & happy with the service and results.
Back in 2010 I purchased a MacBook Pro laptop here. A year later, my hard drive failed. I took it in to Best Buy Geek Squad to get it fixed, but they couldnt do anything since CityMac never registered my applecare warranty. Not only did they not register my applecare, they demanded that I show them a receipt to prove that I had purchased it.After the applecare warranty issue was resolved, I ended up taking it to a local apple store for the repairs since I was away at school. There was more trouble... I had the hard drive upgraded when I purchased the laptop and they never told me it was a western digital hard drive and that this voided my warranty. The apple store told me that I should have still been given the original part, but CityMac never gave me the original hard drive. At the end of the day they paid for my repairs, but it was an extremely frustrating few weeks during college that was not worth it. I will never shop here again. They obviously scammed me, trying to pocket my applecare warranty money and they probably sold the original hard drive that voided my warranty. Not only did they scam me, but they did not treat me with respect and tried to blame me for everything when it was their fault.
I needed help with an IPad update and they helped me immediately at no charge - so wonderful!
Staff knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and zipping over to me upon arrival.
Ive downgraded my review from ok to wont recomment. I seriously take issue with the way they talk down to costumers. A few of the employees do seem to get it and you can tell their hands are tied, but between the poor managment and tendency to try and nickel and dime constumers that might not know better, makes me strongly dislike them. I mean, a $49 dollar malware removal service? On a Mac? That information superhighway robbery.I would encourage unhappy costumers to lodge a complaint with Apple, not this store. It is clear they shouldnt be an Apple Authorized anything.
Country Mac is cooler
Worst service ever!!!
