Take heed to the reviews..She (Amanda) even tried to tell me not to believe the bad reviews. I try to support local, especially women businesses but I have never encountered such unprofessional behavior in any salon. I rarely write reviews but I could not let this one go without notice.She was so nasty that I had to leave that shop with soaking wet hair.Dont get bamboozled!One thing I despise is LIARS!!!This is not a false review…And I did not refuse to pay…if so, you would not have washed and conditioned my hair. I simply wanted you to explain to me why you was gonna charge me $85 when your sign on the shop window shows $35.You could not give me a valdi reason why you wanted to charge me $50 more for no apparent resason.Not to mention, before you even examined my hair, yiu said there was a $20 consultation fee and I needed a trim.Consultation for a blowout????That was absurd to me since my hair was not damaged and I had just gotten a trim.If anyone is a scammer, it’s YOU!!!!You try to take advantage of people because you knew I had a important event the next day and you must have thought I was desperate.Makes since why your shop is always empty with NO clients!Thank you for making me walk out your shop with my hair soaking wet because I was able to walk in to a nearby shop that did not make me wait 3hrs (like u did, because you said the sytlist caught a flat and was late, remember that? Even though you tried to deny that you even talked to me when I asked you.)It all balls down to you didn’t deserve my business or anybody elses for that matter!

I enjoyed the white-glove service I received from the stylist. There was no wait time and I was in and out. BOOM. The atmosphere was professional, but fun. I received a wash, set dry, flat iron and trim. I am very satisfied with my results. I have to go back... She was amazing! Thank you Amandas Five Star salon.

I got my hair done in a silk press on 6/10/21. It hasn’t been 24 hours and my style reverted back to its natural curl pattern and very bushy. I called Amanda and informed her that the style did not hold at all. She told me that that’s impossible and that she’s been doing this for 10 years. She told me to come in at 4pm. I came in and she told me I did something in order for my hair to look this puffy. I informed her I did not do anything but keep my hair wrapped until today when I wanted to go out. Amanda accused me of lying about my hair not lasting. She refused to fix my hair nor give me the money back. She told me call my credit card and have them give me the money back because she wasn’t give it back and she wasn’t going to do my hair. She stated that she will not be doing my hair for free and that I would have to pay all over again. She was very unprofessional and told me she was done talking about working with me. She kept saying I did something for my hair to frizz up. I kept trying to explain to her but she continued to cut me off and said that there’s nothing else to talk about and she’s not going to service me unless I paid again. She was very nasty and I would not recommend. I’m all natural and I never had a silk press before. I was hoping this would be what I was hoping but she makes me never want to try this again. Her whole demeanor was terrible to me. I paid her $95 plus a tip. NEVER AGAIN.Responding to your response-I feel like you took advantage of the fact that I didn’t live in that state and you knew I wouldn’t return. You knew I was eager to get my hair pressed because I told you I just took my braids out on the way to Maryland. I also told you I never had a silk press before a hoped that that’s what I was getting. Because you knew I wasn’t too familiar with how it should have looked, you did whatever you wanted and made it seem like that’s how it’s supposed to be done. My hair was not bone straight and it was not flowing. In fact it was stiff, shriveled up and tangled by the time I removed my head scarf (which is silk) and those Bobbi pins. You definitely part timed my hair which means you did the bare minimum. You turned around and tried to lie on your response as if you’re trying to cover the fact that you messed up. Own up to it. There was no wetting my hair, doing activities, etc. You lied and said you gave me a free cap to protect my hair. You never gave me anything. I had my own scarf and that’s what I left with on my head. You DIDN’T execute anything. Your intentions was not in the right place, I didn’t live in that state and you took advantage of that. When you assessed my hair texture, you shouldn’t have done it if you couldn’t do it. I told you I have Virgin hair and I combed my loc’s out some months ago. You claimed you could still work with my hair type but obviously it didn’t work for my hair. Like I told you before, everyone’s hair is not the same. You may be kind to others but that particular day I came to show you that this style did NOT hold, you were very nasty to me with my witness by my side. I’m not sure what policies you want to pretend we went over before you did my hair but we didn’t talk about nothing but how much it would be to get the silk press. I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t lie on me and keep it real to the viewers and yourself.

Called this establishment attempting to schedule an appointment same day, they mentioned they didn’t do same day appointments and to schedule via email. Fine, i send an email, received a response within 24hrs to schedule the appointment, i send a response with the day and time. No reply. I call and spoke to some lady and they lady was basically talking at me, talking very slow as if i didn’t understand their policy. I had to keep reiterating my situation for her to basically say she thinks it’s best i go elsewhere because she couldn’t hear me. Lol i really did look forward to going here but based on my experience and the reviews, I’ll pass!

I have a old friend that attend her salon before in a different location lets just say the old friend wasnt happy with her service. so some time later here is this new location OKAY I go an try her out for myself.. (yeah I know I shouldnt have) smh never again. NOW I love Towson been living/ supporting A LOT of business,salons etc in the Towson area but this place here no we dont do that up here babygirl need to go back down in the city. ANYWHO when I had my service the whole time I was irritated, she told me to take out my ponytail and pull my hair apart she didnt touch my hair till she applied water & shampoo which was rough when washing also not one time she put a towel or anything around me while doing my hair I had hair and dampness all on my shoulders. after she set me under the dry for an 1 and 10mins when she told me 20mins she started doing Im assuming a friend of hers hair that was chilling in some lil room already while I was hot under that dryer I just took it off my head because at this point homegirl was pissing me off. so when I got in her chair still noting around my neck she started blowing drying my hair texture is curly/wavy. the blow dryer that was used is very hot which I am aware, on the top right side of my scalp is very sore from the blow dryer. I told her is was to hot in one spot idk if she wasnt just not paying attention but she continue and my scalp is still tender in that spot. so moving on from all that she cut TOO MUCH of my hair. i just had a trim a month ago she told me the lady didnt do a good job so shell have to fix it blah blah I think she just like doing the most to make herself feel good. that night I wrapped my hair like always the next day I took my hair down just to be cute on ft with my hunni an when I did my ends was bushy and curly like whaaa at that point I kinda expected that because everything else went wrong that she did. i wasnt mad more mad that I waste $120 an that is why I did not contact her cause of her arrogant attitude and my attitude wouldnt been pretty so PEOPLE PLSSS LOOK PAST THIS SALON

Overall, my hair turned out great. What would be helpful next time is if the website was more clear on pricing as I came in paying double for the service I originally requested.

I got my haircut about a month ago by Kelly & she was amazing. My hair was really long & I HAD a lot of damage from bleach/color. I knew I needed to take a good amount of the length off if I wanted to get a healthy look & feel again. She knew exactly what she was doing. Her method of layering my hair was awesome (I think it’s called slicing) & I absolutely love the way my layers fall into place. She even took the time to actually style my hair! I’ve gone to other places where they barely blow dry it all the way (even though I’m paying them for it too) & she went all out with the blow dryer/ straightener. She & the rest of the staff are so nice & I’m definitely going back to get color soon. I’m happy that I finally found a stylist I can stick with. She is incredibly talented & a true artist. I highly recommend this salon to anyone, they are very welcoming to everyone.

I went there and she told me to show her a picture of what I wanted I showed her the photo and it turned out completely different it instead of silver or a blonde it turned out yellow and orange yellow and then when I said something to her she said Id have to pay $300 which I had already paid her $140 up front up front and she told me when I paid her that she could get me to wear the photo look like and now I have to wind up going to another salon which actually knows what theyre doing she says she specializes in color if she couldnt do what I want it she should just say that off the jump unsatisfied

My mom went here today to pick up my with belongs she said last week she had an could do curb side pick up now today she wanted to start yelling an me an my mom about an appointment. I am 9 an wanting my toys she then told me get get an how I wouldnt be getting my belongs because she will make sure to .ail them back as she called my mom the b word. I left crying an I think she needs to be shut down. If she cant do all these things she needs to not have wish ma items there. I lost my home to a fire all I wanted was my toys back shes a mean woman. An told me good luck after she sends to China ill never get them

I went here and they made my roots yellow 🤣 not cool ... They knew I wasnt happy at all with the being yelling yellow but yet she said if I paid her $150 more dollars then she do what I wanted which is berserk and not right Ive been to the nicest salons and theyve made my hair silver within 2 hours and I was there from 12:30 to over 6:00 p.m. and still didnt walk out how I wanted my hair if youre here if you go here to get your hair dyed I dont suggest getting a bleach or asking for silver

I reside in Pennsylvania. Ive been patronizing Amandas since 2014 during my employment nearby. When my job ended I continued to go there no matter how far I need to drive. No one else has measured up to them when it comes to my hair. I dont even have to say nothing, they know just what to do and I enjoy every visit.❤

I travel all the way from P.A to visit this salon. I have gotten my hair styled by both Amanda & Kelly, They are both AMAZING, TALENTED & KNOWLEDGEABLE. the ambiance of this establishment is very nice comforting one. The Ladies that visit this establishment are all professional women ( of all ages ). So there is a lot of great conversations being had here, I actually met one of my now very close friends at this establishment !!! These ladies are very current with Hairstyles, Colors, and Technique. MUST VISIT, CHECK THEM OUT !!!

First time there . I live around the corner so this was very convenient. Kelly did a wash and set and explained to me what i needed and how frequent i need to return. When I tell y’all Kelly can blow sum hair out!! She did the thang . I left with my hair feeling healthy and I’ll be back every 2 weeks !

Way too high a price for a simple haircut with bad customer service

Its been long overdue that I write this review, I have been visiting Amandas since they were on York rd ( Over 10 years). before finding this salon I could not find a stylist who could straighten my kinky curly hair. The women in this salon were not only able to straighten my hair but it also lasts 2-3 weeks.They are now located in towson but honestly Ill follow these ladies to the end of earth. BEST BLOW OUTS !!!

I visited the salon yesterday for a wash, blow-dry, deep conditioner and trim. I received great customer service from Kelly, and great recommendations on how to get back to maintaining my hair. Although I already know how to care for my hair on my own, like most busy women I got lazy with my hair, was too tired to do this and that. I left with my hair feeling and looking light as a feather, bouncy and voluminous. The prices are extremely fair and reasonable, the service was friendly and professional. I would highly recommend Amandas 5 star salon. I also have natural hair and she handled like a pro.Thanks again.

Yesterday, my niece went to Amandas to get her hair washed, conditioning treatment, trim and weave install. She arrived after school, at 3:15 for her 3:30 appointment. I told her to text me when she got started, so I could plan the evening, for pick up and such. At 4:45 I text her to ask how it was going, t which time she informed me that she had just finished being washed, and was under the dryer. I later text her at 7pm to get the status and she told me her hair had been braided but the lady had started doing someone else hair and had her waiting. I called the salon and spoke to the woman, and she told me that her hair would be done shortly. At 9pm I arrived to the salon to find my niece with her weave half installed; and the stylist putting curlers in another persons hair. At that time, my niece told me that the stylist had stopped doing her weave, to wash and set the other person.I waited until she got her other client under the dryer and approached her to ask about what was going on. My exact question, is it standard procedure that you give someone an appointment, and stop several times to take walk-ins while they wait. Shes been here for 6 hours and still isnt finished.Well, thats when things hit the fan! She proceeded to yell and curse at me. Told me that because Im black, I should be use to waiting hours at the salon, pointed at some scripture on the wall, and told me that God was going to punish me if I left her a bad review. She even threatened my niece and told her that if I continued to talk about her on the phone(I was updating my husband), she would take her hair out and make us leave.I have a regular stylist that I go to, and in the 10 years Ive been going to her, Ive NEVER been in the salon for more than three hours; and Ive NEVER been spoken to, or treated the way I was there.I recorded her antics on my phone, just in case I needed it. I wish you all could see the way she behaved. Keep your money!They do nice hair but the customer service is HORRIBLE!

I had such a wonderful experience at Amandas 5 star salon. The staff is very welcoming and super friendly. Having natural hair sometimes you lack the confidence to step foot into a hair salon but I will say i felt so welcomed and comfortable. The environment is very homey and I loveeee the results of my wash and blowout!!

I was super excited to come to this salon after seeing the pictures of some completed hair styles, as I arrived I was greeted by the salon owner and was advised I may take a seat, then as I was waited on the owner Amanda did not talk to me at all during my shampoo she continued to talk to another client the entire time after she was already done servicing her, I wasn’t asked is the water temperature okay, how are you Today, would you like a deep condition or nothing like that ! She continued to talk to the other client instead of me, then I was placed in Kelly chair to finish up, Kelly was super unprofessional and very unfriendly, she did not say two words to me either ! The heat was extremely hot and she was not handling my hair with care at all ! She didn’t tell me her name and she didn’t ask my name ! She literally said nothing to me the entire time while In her chair ! Then her and Amanda kept talking in Spanish the entire time so ppl couldn’t understand them, just cause ppl are black don’t mean they don’t understand Spanish that was very rude !! I always tip when a service is provided to me but nope not this time, they were not deserving of a tip !! It seems like they only hold a convo with you if they know you or maybe you have came a few times, they did not make a new client feel welcomed at all! Very unprofessional and unfriendly atmosphere, my hair was cute, but I would rather have both great service and nice results, ladies please learn to be a lot more friendly. Thanks !!

I called on a Monday to try and set an appointment for hair color and style, I was thinking that I would receive a call back the next business day but to my surprise their receptionist literally called me back the same day !!! I got serviced the next day & the color/style came out stunning. YOU ARE CRAZY TO NOT GET YOUR HAIR STYLED HERE. Customer service is impeccable.

I’m really happy that they were able to fit me in today- i was the last client of the night and Kelly was able to fit me in. She did great!!!! Amanda was able to chat as well and - it’s great going to a salon that has family members that are extremely talented! Amanda’s sister hooked me up! I went here on my usual MD visit. It’ll be my first and last time going there. No one greeted or introduced themself to me when I walked in. Just suggested I get a wash and set after I said hello. I have natural black hair (4c). They don’t know how to handle black (4 type) hair and I guess because I am black they assumed I didn’t know Spanish and kept talking about me and how they preferred to do white hair because it’s less complicated and not coarse. Overall I am not satisfied with the finish product or their customer service, they are very unprofessional. Also, instead of giving me a trim which I got 3 months ago in the state that I live. She decided to cut my way bra length hair to right above my shoulder. I had to proceed because the first cut was a big chunck. Lastly, my hair smells and feels burnt, guaranteed heat damage. Don’t waste your time or money.

I called the salon and I asked the worker if she can detangle my hair, she said yes I can, when I visit the salon to detangle my hair, the worker only look at my hair then she cut my hair, I didn’t tell her cut my hair I told her detangle it, I don’t know why she said I can detangle your hair! I lost my long hair because the bad service, she didn’t try and hold the comb if she can detangle my hair or not ! She cut my hair directly, I leave the salon and I’m upset and sad, worst worker

Amanda’s is the most welcoming and honest salon experience I have ever had . Came in to get a sew in and i have never been happier. She took good care of my hair . Worst service ever. I have spent so far more than 500 dollars trying to fix what this women did to my hair. By trying to save money on bleach she kept coming back and forth to refill the bleach while my hair was burning. I have to cut my hair short now. Went to other salons and they couldn’t believe what she had done. My hair is falling and when I brush my hair, i see small broken string of hair all over. I specifically told her I didn’t want blonde and even showed her a picture of what I wanted. I wish I could post pictures of my hair so nobody has to go through the same thing. I have proof and witnesses from other stylists of the damage this woman did to my hair. She said she had 13 years of experience and couldn’t even get a simple haircut right much less color. She ruined the pictures of my sister engagement party. Thats how destroyed my hair was. It looks like hay.

I have been going to my hair stylist for more than 6 years faithfully. I had a very important doctors conference to attend and my stylist was unable to style me for the event. So i searched up for a salon, and Amanda’s caught my eye. To make the long story short I called them up and was so amazed by the warm embrace I received over the phone from a young lady named kelly. I went to the salon & I received the best hair & customer service of my life. Amanda is an awesome stylist, while in the chair I watched her work miracles on another ladies hair. I never went back to my old salon . Come to Amandas’s you will not be disappointed these ladies know what they are doing.

Ive had some bad experiences with getting my hair done so Ive only gone to one person for the past few years, but they are located in Virginia. I went here to get a haircut because their Instagram and website looked pretty professional. Even though I got a simple haircut, Kelly made me feel comfortable to trust her with my hair in the future. I love getting colors like purple and magenta, and she was able to recommend the best way to get the next color I want(rose balayage). She gave me advice so that it will look perfect for my graduation in the spring. Definitely going back, and definitely recommend.

Went to this salon twice! First time seemed OK. The second time I left with a horrible hair cut! My hair looked as if it had just been cut straight across very blunt with no style. Very different from the cut I already had which is appalling because I just wanted a simply trim! Also, I notice a patch of my hair was gone complete blown off! When I returned to my old Dominican hair stylist in VA she pointed out two more random patches of hair that were blown out! Literally three patches of hair were blown off down to the root. Know wonder why the stylist kept trying to lay my hair down with so much oil in one area! And to think she just blew out my hair and didnt say anything! Horrible place!!!!!!! If I could give them zero stars I would.

I went there for the first time. I went to get my hair washed, blow dried, colored, and pressed (4c). I literally regret leaving my house. I was there for EIGHT HOURS. I told them I wanted OMBRÉ. My whole head of hair is purple which is NOT WHAT I WANTED. It looks terrible. I kept telling the lady I want this or please be sure to do this and instead of just listening to me, she just kept responding saying trust me or youre in good hands. I kept telling her this because I THE CUSTOMER, know what I want. I walked out unsatisfied after spending damn near $200. I will never go back again. I literally regret it.

This is the best hair salon in the area in my opinion! Its close to my campus (Towson), the employees are very nice and accomadating, and the outcome of my hair is always amazing. I love it, 11/10 recommended!!

As soon as I walked in I INSTANTLY felt at home. The salon was clean, and both stylists knew how to speak english very well. I was the first in the salon, then they engaged me in convo, and began on my hair. The wash girl was wonderful as well as the blow out girl. My hair is bouncy, shiny, and full of life. I have been to other Dominican hair salons and they did not give the same customer service. I really love this place because they cater to their customers.There is also free parking around the back of the plaza. Im a customer for life now. The topping on the cake was my hair was $46 for a blow out. I have natural thick hair that is mid length. The prices are wonderful.

I got my hair done by Kelly (hope I spelt it right) the salon looks very nice and open. SHE FINISHED MY BLOW OUT IN UNDER 30 MINUTES! I went in at 3 and left out at 3:25 with beautiful flowy and healthy looking results! I found my new hair home. The external appearance was very fun and cute as well. Only downside was I forgot how much a blow out hurts lol

Been here twice already and I would totally go back! I loved both cuts and after i left, my hair felt so smooth and healthy. First time, Nuri or Neri cut my hair. Yesterday was the second time and the owner- Amanda did it. They made sure I was happy with the length of my hair and the style. Thanks again ladies!! :)

Great work and price but BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE :(I was so excited to get my hair blown out (im natural 4b hair ) I made my appointment online at 11am during the week. When I arrived the salon was empty and I had to walk ALL the way in the back to find only one girl in the whole salon working. She didnt even ask to see my appointment information and told me to sit in the wash chair. She was not friendly and didnt tell me her name or asked me mine ( I asked her what her name was later) I know my hair is thick but she was really rough. It was awkward because it was just me and her and she did not talk at all lol. Anyways my hair came out BOMB but the experience was a big NO.

I love this salon. I have been going to this salon for over five years and my hair has grown so much. Its not like a salon its more like family.

I came across this place after my go to place was closed. I did some quick research, read the reviews and picked this place. Boy was this a good choice! I entered letting the stylist know of my damaged hair and my concerns. She said no problem and lets get started. Long story short my hair hasnt looked or felt this good in years. She let me know Im on a journey back to healthy hair but I honestly feel Im in good and professional hands.

Got my hair done here after taking locs out. The hair stylist did a wonderful job with my hair. I will be going back. Heat is very hot. But its worth it.

Bad customer service!

The experience I had with amanda salon it been excellent, good environment, good services, treat clients like family l, give advised and is great with difference hair satyle. I try this place on June 2017 and since that date I had a blast on her salon

They do deliver a 5 star service for an affordable price. They deliver everytime.

Its ok dont get me wrong they do wonderful a hair but the blow out girl is completely tooo rough the heat is already overwhelming and they have a nerve to be rough and also one of the girls who works there is completely rude like she has a attitude. They do good hair but there attitude makes me not want to go

Only went in to get a cut and flat ironed and it was only $50! Got my haircut into a bob and it was lovely, I forgot who did it. I believe she was hispanic, must have been the owner but i plan on booking soon.

The service was awesome Kelly and her mom made me feel so welcome Im from atlanta and the experience here was awesome I would most differently recommend going here.I got a Bob cut and Im pleased with my out come thanks you ladies.....

I went here when I was an undergrad at Towson.....I never write reviews but after going here I didnt even try to go to another salon for years.....because of My anxiety. My hair wasnt at its best back then, it was long but damaged and relaxed. When I was in the chair one of the girls that was doing my hair said in Spanish su pelo es muy fea or her hair is very ugly.....I didnt say I knew what she said, that I was fluent......I just sat in the chair, had her finish, paid and then never went back.

My hair is always on point. Amanda does everything, one of my favorite one stop shops.

Oh the dog is friendly, I love the flowing of my hair when done !

I have called twice to see if the are really open on Sundays. They have push the end button on me after the second ring of the second phone call. I really need my hair done.
