BEWAREOF BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS FROM THIS PLACE!We went here for an initial consultation for my sons braces. Their quote was about $1,000 cheaper than other dental offices. (I was doing price comparisons with other offices)This place never gave me a paper or proof of costs for treatment, length of time, discounts, etc. unlike all the other dental offices I went to. They only gave a verbal estimate but never put it down in writing. That shouldve been the first red flag. Understandably, we were overly excited with the cheaper price and closer distance. This place sounded like a winner, but come to find out later on, it wasnt.After doing the initial consultation, the office requested that I pay $250 to get his teeth molded and pictures. Thats fine, thats understandable. After coming back to the office once the mold and pictures were completed, the doctor changed his price to $1,000 more than the initial price. How can the price be so far off the initial estimate for a doctor that claims he has over 30 years of experience? His final price was not only higher than what he initially quoted, but turns out its around the same price as other dental offices that I went to. Thats fine, but what makes this situation more upsetting is at least with the other dental offices, they were upfront about their prices just with the first initial consultation. This office basically just got my hopes up because I thought we found a good office with a good deal. Sadly no.They showed me the final price which I was told to sign off on. I refused because they expected me to not only pay for the $250, but on top of that the additional$1,000 which came out of nowhere only AFTER the initial work was done. Keep in mind we were told in the initial consultation well before doing any of this that it would be about $1,000 cheaper than other offices. Of course the office manager gets mad, starts arguing, and became extremely rude. She was arguing with me about my insurance plan. Isnt this something they should have checked BEFORE they started doing any work???This place is waste of time, money, and very dishonest! Someone should really investigate for their bait & switch tactics and bad work practices.

It is rare that I will give a 5 star review but in this case I had too! Dr. Lam & his staff are so patient with me. I have had several BAD experiences with past dentist & would suffer with great pain. I have yet to experience that here. I remember after my 1st visit, which was an unplanned dental surgery. Dr. Lam called me to check on how I was feeling & that meant a lot to me. I referred my son & he too said, he likes it here... so much so... He falls asleep during each visit lol. So for now, I am a faithful member of Star Dental. Thanks Dr. Lam & team!

I had been looking for a dentist for about two years as my previous dentist of over 25 years who possessed exceptional skills retired me was referred to Dr. Lam by my sister-in-law who spoke highly of him and his staff. Before going to see Dr. Lam I unfortunately saw several dentist who lack the professional and caring component they were only amount the dollar as a result I felt it was going to be nearly impossible to find a dentist that possessed the same extraordinary skills as well as hold themselves to the same exceptional standards of my prior dentists. However, Dr. Lam was up for the challenge and as fate would have it Dr. Lam too possess the same extraordinary skills my previous dentist. Wouldn’t you know he was a student at the very school my previous dentist taught at. That’s right he is a graduate of USC’s school of dentistry this partly explains his skills and professionalism the rest is his own moral standards and integrity which is not taught in school. The great thing for me is that Dr. Lam has two offices one near my work in the city of Long Beach and the other near my home in the city of Torrance. I have had appointments at both locations and each time I’ve gone in both facilities have been clean and appear to be equipped with the latest technology (monitors to view X-rays etc.). I appreciate that I am sent a text message reminding me of my upcoming because they charge $75 for a missed appointment (time is money) and we are all busy and must respectful of others time as well as our own. I appreciate that having an appointment means something and that the wait in the lobby before being seen so far has been a short wait.Lastly and most importantly Dr. Lam understands the importance of gaining his client/patients trust in him and his staff. He takes the time to explain and educate one on what services are needed as well as your options and how he plans to execute them so that one can make an informed decision. One can truly trust that Dr. Lam has one’s best care and interest at heart.I am happy that my search for a replacement dentist is finally over.

I have been seeing Dr. Lam for about 5 years and I can say without a doubt that my dental health in the last 5 years is far better than it has been at any other time in my life. I am very pleased with the care I receive.The office runs very efficiently -- unlike most doctors offices, I never have to wait. I am seen at the time of my appointment. And, the office staff is warm and friendly.I recommend Star Dental and Dr. Lam without hesitation.

Dr. Lam and team took great care of me during and post my pinhole surgery. I was thrilled to know they could conduct the surgery and that I was a qualified candidate. Dr. Lam from the very beginning was very patient to helping me understand what the surgery entailed along with my condition. It is the best decision I made, one that was quick and has been a very speedy recovery. My results have been night and day! I am glad to have found such a caring Dr. And team. I recommend this Surgery and Dr. Lam for anyone suffering from gum recession. It is the best decision you can make. Thank you Dr. Lam and team!

Dr. Lam is the best! He’s the best at making you feel comfortable when administering a novacain shot. I used to get such anxiety when I knew I would have to get a numbing shot but not anymore. He truly cares about his patients and their oral hygiene! 5 stars for Dr. Lamb and his team!

My family and I have been going to Star Dental for many years now. Dr. Lam is a very caring dentist. The entire staff is friendly and helpful on every visit. He is very conservative on the work that needs to be done. He doesnt just do work if it is not necessary. I can trust him to not take advantage of us financially. He also does orthodontic work as well as dentistry. My two children have had braces put on. One is almost done :) We are very pleased so far with the results from the braces. I recommend Star Dental if you are looking for a new dentist...you will not be disappointed.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Dr. Lam worked with my insurance, and did not work on anything that my insurance would not cover or that I did not ask him to do. He was also very clear about the procedure and exactly what he was working on, unlike most dentists who dont bother to tell you what they are doing inside of your mouth. I will return to Dr. Lam when my insurance is renewed.

Dr. Lam is hands down THE BEST DENTIST I HAVE EVER HAD, and Ive encountered numerous practitioners with my extensive dental history of three implants, three root canals, and more than half a dozen crowns. My brother is a dentist and I am a family practice physician. HE GIVES PAIN-FREE NOVOCAINE INJECTIONS, even without using a topical anesthetic (because I dont like the taste and effect), and is the only dentist I know who can do this! A USC dental school grad, he is intelligent (impressively so), meticulous, moral, and a real sweetheart. You can really trust him to have your best care and interest at heart. I cant say enough about him. His staff is absolutely wonderful also.

My son and I first visited Star Dental yesterday and was so impressed with Dr. Lam and his staff that our entire family will now be switching to Star Dental. Dr. Lam spoke to me not only about proper flossing and brushing, but whole dental care. Great dentist and staff!!!!

I have been going to Dr. Lam for roughly over 4 years now and have had excellent service throughout that duration. I had fairly extensive comestic work done, which included a post and 4 caps. I couldnt be happier. Also, I had initially come to them with the beginnings of Periodontal disease. After some thorough cleanings, I believe things are on the right track now.A very competent staff, with great personalities!
