Dont bother trying to drop off papers for shredding unless you have 80# or more. I tried on 5/14/19 to call them for their drop-off hours but couldnt get through so I went to the Tonawanda location only to be met at the door with a sign that basically said:As of September 2016 drop-offs are accepted only Tuesday and Thursday AM with a minimum cost of $75.This business is nuts. Office Max charges $1 a pound, with the first 5# free. No point in leaving my 30-40 pounds so I left. No interest in individual customers here. Good luck with this business model.

Very poor customer service from corporate tracking down an issue getting the receipt of destruction. Initial drop-off was easy, however I did not receive the receipt within one hour as promised and it has taken almost a week to resolve. Once the problem was found, it still took two more calls to get it sent. James in Tonawanda was very nice once we were able to talk, and he took care of the problem. Would have liked to be able to deal directly with him, but spent probably 4 hours over the past 5 days having to go through the 800 number, as you cant call the local site directly, and I was out of town the whole time and unable to come in. If you do a one-time drop off see if you can wait until it is done to get the receipt or make sure you make a copy of everything you filled out, get the persons name and local contact #, and follow up directly with them by going in if you have any issues. Going through corporate is useless - negative 5 stars. Price was good for one-time drop-off but Ive spent 2-3x that in wasted time trying to track down the receipt.

Unethical business practices. They trap businesses in unfair contracts at ridiculous rates. They use their name to stick it to small business. Shred-it screwed my business for two years, and I just found out a family fiends’ business is stuck in a 5 year contract! Pricing is 2-4x more then their competitors! Last I heard their claim to fame was shredding on site, and when I gratefully had my last pick up from them, they verified, they weren’t doing that. Don’t trap people in contracts.

Not happy at all with the service. First scheduled appointment the wrong truck was sent for on site shred. My invoice showed a bill for that missed day, so I was double billed. Watch your invoice, there is also a hefty gas surcharge and another recycling environment fee of 9.8%. When asked which gov agency collects it, or which landfill, turned out neither but just collected by the company.

Every time I try to schedule an appointment their have been problems. It takes several emails to accomplish a very simple task. Very difficult company to deal with.

Ive used this company on four occasions over 8 years- each experience had an issue.In my most recent experience, the company agreed to provide shredding services for Saturday June 18th. Of course, this took 5 calls on my part. No calls were ever returned to me. I was given a number for a staff member who was to meet me at their Tonawanda, NY offices later on Saturday afternoon. When I contacted this individual on Saturday (his number was given to me only when I followed up for the 4th time the day prior), this staff member indicated he was at his sons BB game. The staffer further stated that he didnt have access to alarm codes for the building and could not secure my materials. Essentially, I was hung out to dry. I had a flight scheduled for 3-4 hours later and needed 50+ secure boxes shredded (this is my you use a shredding service- b/c you need your paperwork securely taken care of). To get back in time for Fathers Day, I had to cancel my flight and drive back to Chicago with the boxes. In abandoning me at the very last minute, I was left with no other alternative.While I wasnt happy with the staffer who abandoned me on Saturday, it was really the office staffer that I had dealt with on 3-4 earlier occasions that was likely the culprit. His behavior fit the pattern that Ive seen from this business on several other occasions. Namely, they wont call you back. On four separate occasions over 8 years (wow- that shows that this is part of the culture and management of this small business) this has occurred. Each time they actually delivered on the service. This time? No.Im sure they get the job done if you are a regular pick-up (the way that most of these companies get their business), but good luck if you have any challenge-- they have zero commitment to their clients from my observations over the last 8 years.
