These are some outstanding Folks. I left Austin at 3AM for a job here in Houston. Another company assured me that the rental would be on the job site on arrival at 6:00AM, it wasn’t, and the other company then informed me that they did not pick up the lift last week that I was to use.Fast forward to a call to the fine folks at Hilltop. They went the extra mile to get me a forklift that was needed to complete my Job.Construction is hard enough with the labor and parts shortages. These folks made me look great to the Superintendents at the job site.Thanks and I will be seeing y’all again as our primary rental agency on all of our future jobs here.

Great place to buy equipment in Tomball, Texas. I bought a concrete mixer last weekend. Fast, easy, no hassle experience. I definitely recommend.

AVOID THIS SELLER! ILLEGAL RETURN PRACTICES!I purchased a Dremel, which was in good working condition when received. 6 weeks later it started making a really bad grinding noise and electrical sparks shot out the vent area. I immediately shut it off and contacted the seller to see if I could still return. Seller approved the return but when they received it charged me a 20% restocking fee and stated it wasnt defective. It is not legal to charge restocking fees on defective items. Im now having to deal with filing a chargeback and theyve listed the defective item to sell as used! I hope whoever buys it is using it with a flex shaft like I was, I hate to think what could have happened if Id been holding it when the sparks started flying out.

Terrible place to rent. Rude people and they will try to get your deposit anyway they can. On one occasion they described a tool that I needed to rent so we went through with the paperwork. When they brought it out, it was old, wouldnt work, and was not the right tool or how described. Refusing to take the tool they still wanted to keep the deposit and rental rate. I will go elsewhere for rentals.

Gave me the wrong advice subsequently resulting in me purchasing hundreds of pounds worth of the wrong items. When I asked to return the items and purchase the correct ones from them in place, they wanted to charge a 30% restocking fee which was apparently a discounted rate . Will never use again.

I have rented the Lion,s Club Pit four times. Every time it has been a great experience. The front counter is easy to deal with. The yard people are helpful and dont mess around getting you loaded up. This year I had an issue when returning the pit. All staff was helpful. Hilltop sent out Garret and the situation was handled. It says a lot about Hilltop to do all they do for the Lions Club and help the community for free.Thanks,David

Rented a stump grinder from this establishment. Same model I have rented from 3 different rental companies. This companys grinder operated less efficiently, used twice the fuel and cost 30% more to rent. Listened to an employee (turned out to be the owner) threaten to fight someone if they wanted to fight. Said owner later began barking across the store at me as I tried to explain the grinder performance problems to the the front counter attendant.While the 3 separate employees I spoke with seemed interested to solve any problems I encountered....the owner was successful in driving my business elsewhere for the foreseeable future.

Great place to buy tools. Only issue with them is they would not return a tool that was unused like any big-name hardware store would have.

Im not the kind to post reviews but sometimes you have to do the right thing. I started renting a while back. Ive spent thousands. They deliver on time. Replaced equipment that I caused the damage to keep my projects going. All staff are professional and especially Dan. The price was better even with delivery. Best service best price in the area. I came to this conclusion only judging based on their performance. Compelled to provide a review I discovered the rants against. Im no fool being raised country. Checked into the situation and discovered a bit of unwarranted jealousy toward the owner. Seems hes just plain better. Ill keep checking and update my review if he stumbles but I can assure you hes not the problem.

The very nicest and helpful people. Their inventory is second to none. A tool lover’s, do it yourself’s, professional, or weekend warriors paradise. If you need it in one stop, they will probably have it, or tire themselves out looking for it. A true gem in Tomball.

I wasnt sure about Hilltop Tool Rental with all the negative reviews on Google, but I took a chance anyway. I am so glad I did...great customer service, friendly staff, and a no nonsense owner who is open and brutally honest. I find it a warm breath of fresh air for someone to have the fortitude and integrity to tell you the honest truth while at the same time willing to work with you to find a solution...the variety of tools and equipment available has met all of my needs, well kept equipment at a fair and reasonable rate. Definitely will be back.

Don’t buy from them off of amazon. They sent me a tool that they had removed the battery, charger and adjustment tool from the box. I knew it was a bare tool but wasn’t expecting a dust covered three year old model that you can’t find a charger or battery for and missing the adjustment wrench. The box was covered in dust like they had it one the shelf and happened to find it years later. I paid to sip it back and they charged a 30 dollar restock fee. I had to get amazon involved because 6 weeks later they hadn’t issued the refund but I had proof that it had been signed for. They also go by 1toptools. They need do go by 1Shadytools.

If you want to rent defective equipment, no be able to complete your jobs and still have to pay the rental fee and the deposit. Then rent here!They rented us a skid steer and trailer, the trailer had Michigan plates on it and was rusted to no end. Over time with loading and unloading a 14k lb machine, the tongue of the trailer endures a lot of weight and stress to it. When we had the trailer the tongue of the trailer broke from the frame. They were only concerned with picking up there equipment, instead of sending or letting me pick up another trailer. Since I am a repeat, paying customer! On top of them picking up the machine and not allowing me to finish my job they also wanted me to haul the broken trailer at my expense back to them. These people are rude and they do bad business. They dont service there equipment they are in the business of robbing people. I am very lucky that the Trailer did not break while I was on the freeway, I would have probably been on the 6 oclock news. It was a very dangerous situation and could have injured lots of people if it would have happened on the freeway.

They had some great deals online that I came into the store for. Everything works good. Keep up the good work.

I asked to reserve a piece of equipment for tomorrow. He said I had to come in and pay for it. I asked again if he would put our name on the piece of equipment and we would be in first thing in the morning. I just needed to make sure it would be there before I drove all the way there to pay for it. THE JERK HUNG UP ON ME! We will NEVER do business with this company because of the RUDENESS of this company. And I will suggest no one does either!!!!

Tried to rent a drill, went to go pick it up and the front counter guy insisted I ordered a trailer. What a waste of time for me and my company. If you feel like getting yelled at for no reason go there instead of boot camp.

WoW I have done alot With these guys sense I moved out here in 02. They always seem to have what I needed and half way good deals on buying tools too. They always load anything I had bought and had always brought trailer to my truck and hooked it up. Even when the ball was not right. They gave me one that was No charge. My wife had to take a trailer to them she had never pulled and they did everything for her once in the lot. The only downside to the place was a bit high on there prices. But good place to rent from and if you need to buy good place too.

Watch the owner like a snake. Hes out to push his high rental solution. He thinks his equipment is a cadillac. Really just go down the road to a honest, contractor typical tool rental. I am amazed that my reaction was exactly like another guys. The counter manager seemed ok but forget them. The owner came out of the back office and my radar went off!

2 days ago a I was like many other people in Houston (searching for a generator). I ended up in Home Depot inquiry about the next delivery date when a customer suggested that I go to Hilltop rental in Tomball. I thanked him and quickly called hilltop rental. A nice young lady answered the phone and gave me all the info that I needed. The prices were almost twice the price for a generator the same size at HD or Lowes, but because this was a M&P store and could understand the price difference. So, I finally end up going to the location purchasing an Atlas Copco P3500IW generator for $1,293, this included tax. So, while trying to find out a little more info on the generator I run across Hilltops eBay ad for the EXACT same generator, but the cost was only for $925 plus tax. So with tax thats $1,001.31. That is a price difference of $292 extra that they charged me. There is a special place for people that take advantage of others during catastrophic events. I will be reporting this.
