I adopted my cat a couple of years ago. When we got there,, we noticed the litter box was piled high with feces and they fed over 40 cats with only a couple plates of food, some cats didnt even get that much food during feeding. By doing so, the cat i adopted ended up having eating problems (swallowing food whole in hopes nobody would take it, eating extremely fast and causing herself to puke). They claimed that she was perfectly healthy, she was NOT. When we brought her home, we noticed she had a stuffy nose and was coughing which she needed two different types of medicine for. The worst part, she had bad diarrhea for a long time. COME TO FIND OUT, SHE HAD GIARDIA (A TYPE OF PARASITE THAT SPREADS VIA CONTAMINATED FOOD, WATER, AND OTHER INFECTED ANIMALS). We spent a LOT of money to get her medical issues fixed. I dont know why this place thought it was a good idea to lie by saying she was perfectly healthy when she wasnt. The least they couldve done is forwarn us. Thank goodness shes better for the most part, but we still have to give her repeat doses of medicine for their lack of proper care.

Extremely well kept shelter that truly picks and chooses volunteer and staff alike that are beyond compassionate about their work. The cats seen extremely happy and well behaved and with having to take care of so many, is a feat in of itself. I have gotten one cat from the shelter via a foster volunteer and she is a hot to have in the house and a great companion for my previous cat. This is a great shelter to get your next family member from

With so many cats in such close proximity, they all seem happy and appear to be healthy and well cared for. I arrived within a half hour of closing so I only encountered one staff member. I went there seeking help with supplies for a litter of bottle fed kittens after Paws and Whiskers stood me up. And I will definitely go back. They didnt even know I was coming and they still bent over backward to offer help. Theyve also helped out with veterinary emergencies in the past.

Caring staff with 3 rooms of free-roaming cats enjoying human attention. Occasional dogs which are usually adopted quickly. Kitten kennels. Always appreciate cat food, litter, cleaning and laundry supply donations. Go for your daily cat fix. Adopt one or more if you can manage it.

Among the pet shelters in the Toledo area, this is a stinky disappointment. The manager is quite nice and the staff know their animals, but the smell from the cat litter boxes is atrocious and the phone is rarely answered. They recently received a set of puppies that were put on the Internet for viewing and to generate interest. However, the puppies were hidden behind a solid door due to vaccinations that took longer than they should. Methinks this was a deceitful attempt at hiding a serious disease they were hoping to cure.Following this lengthy delay, the siblings were sent out for their spaying surgeries, further delaying when they could be seen. The shelter is already closed more than its open. The operating hours are spare.During these lengthy delays, however, the cutest puppies were adopted out, without regard to personality. Allowing puppies to be adopted based on looks, without proper introductions, smacks of unprofessional behavior, in my opinion.Add to all of that the cost they were charging for these dogs. Its just out of line with what other shelters in the Toledo area are charging. I like the manage personally, but there are numerous issues here that need to be solved.

I reached out for a friend who needed to surrender a dog she was no longer able to care for and never heard back; even though they definitely reviewed the message. They are doing all animals a disservice. Even if you cannot accept the animal, you can provide those in these situations with information regarding resources that are available.

There is a BIG population of cats being kept from being adopted by people who genuinely wanted to adopt but are being ignored, I read in the reviews, that we were not the only ones treated this way, bad practice and not cool on how to mislead a 10 year old child

Horribly managed! They do not update their website and the people working there have no idea what they are doing, nor do they know anything about the animals. I left my name and number for someone who wasnt there but apparently would know more but never heard back. I even filled out an online adoption application but they never followed up on that either. Very disappointed and I feel so badly for the animals!

My daughter wanted a yorkie terrier. I got it for her. The price was low! Ginger loved her new master. That was the best shelter I ever went to. The other shelters were disappointing for my kid. Raylin enjoyed her new bff and Ginger enjoyed her also.

Came for cat after my 14 year old died looked around and first room on right had a trailer of urine on floor nearly slipped in it.There were so many cats and the app. Was long as so was the wait actually felt like they were more like cat hoarders than a shelter. While leaving I asked about their van with Windows. Knocked out and said whats this?they said some cats escaped and we put food bowls next to the van and they live inside it she said weblogs a few when they got hit and killed on Hill Ave I was wondering what the H E L L kind of a place was this that didnt retrap these cats and keep them safe inside the building? THEY get poor marks in my book!

I applied for a dog over a month ago and no one even had the courtesy to respond to me and let me know what was going on. When I asked questions to one of the employees, all I got was “I don’t know.” Doesn’t seem like they work too hard to re-home their animals. Disappointing. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

I adopted a puppy in 2009 from Maumee Valley Save A Pet and it couldnt have been a more perfect transition. The puppy was well taken care of and the process was so easy. I was able to visit the puppy any time I wanted to until the puppy was able to be adopted. Keyli is my pup. Keyli and I visited the shelter a few times since her adoption and she was always welcomed. A few years ago, Keyli got out of the fence and unfortunately was gone a few days. Lisa was so helpful and offered to help me with fliers to bring my baby home! Just recently, I lost another pup of mine to a car accident. I visited Maumee Valley Save A Pet and even after 6 years Keyli was recognized and welcomed. The fine folks there have been so helpful in helping me to find another baby to bring it to our home. I could not have found a better place to adopt my puppy from!
