I couldnt say enough good things about this place. We told them what we were looking for in a dog and they recommended the perfect dog for us. She is sweet and loving. They really care for the animals there and the girl at the front desk was beyond amazing. She gave us a bunch of dog care tips while doing the paperwork. They also sent us with some shampoo and a few toys and treats for our new girl.

The people who work here seem to really care about the dogs there. We adopted our dog there and we were able to foster before officially adopting him. The made it good to make sure he was a good fit. Hes a good boy.

They were very informative. Knew how each dog would react. And we were able to give a dog her forever home 💖💖💖

Very poorly ran. The place is extremely dirty to the point its almost unbearable. The workers dont care and limit you to how many dogs you can see. We went to the Toledo Humane Society the next day and it was so much better. A variety of dogs, compele medical history, friendly staff, and very clean. Well worth the few extra dollars we paid for our dog.

Shes here but she ran when i was putting her and my other dog on the lead, i cant go there bc im only 15 and my parents are at work. I tried emailing them, they say to call but then they wont give me info, so now Im going to half to hope she gets a good home

I have had many wonderful experiences with these caring people as a animal activist. They work with our lost and misplaced animals and take pride in the wonderful job they do.They truly care about the animals, take good care of them and show them love and compassion. Toledo has worked very hard in becoming a no kill shelter and our new dog warden has pulled off a miracle with her all of her hard work. Im very proud of the totally turn around she performed with our once horrible system.

Just needed to get my dog his dog tag/license which was 50 bucks which could of been 25 I guess but his was expired but I understand n wish I could of gotten another dog but........

Insanely judgmental, rude people that work here from the top to the bottom! Don’t understand how they’re in the business of helping dogs find homes when they treat them and the people who try to come give them homes soo poorly? Here, Pit Bulls are assumed to be the worst thing walking the planet when in reality they’re one of the most caring, loving breeds there is IF they are cared for correctly. Won’t waste my time with this place, I’ll continue to rescue my animals elsewhere and give them a great life while they euthanize dogs that stay there forever because of the rude staff, great job you guys, keep smiling on those Instagram photos 😉

We registered a dog before but they said we did not do sowso did not get the dog

At about 10:00am two loose dogs chased my father onto the porch, a neighbor called canine control and a canine control worker came out in about 5-10 minutes and all she did was yell at the dogs and throw treats by the front porch of the owners house. Meanwhile the dogs went after four other people barking and growling and the canine worker never did anything to help or diffuse the situation. This is at least the second or third time that this has happened with these dogs. Another neighbor is threatening to shoot the dogs. There is a point where the dogs just need to be taken. It is an hour later and they are still loose. And the cops are here now.

Our baby girl Nina slipped her collar while my husband had her out. He is in a cast on his foot making it difficult for him to give chase. Till he returned home to notify me and we drove back looking for her, we had more idea where she went. After 8 hours we gave up, it was to dark to see. Starting the search first thing in the morning, my husband checked their web site and there was our scared little girls picture, she was safe in doggy jail. I thank the folks at LC for posting the photo so quickly and for being there to receive her from the TPD. Together you made our day, we cant thank you enough! Bless you all for the work you do. A lost dog approached me in my neighborhood. He didnt want to leave my side. I took him to the Lucas County Canine Care & Control (after he jumped in my car) and they (workers at the facility on Erie St) were completely rude - like I was abandoning my own personal dog. I did both the dog and the dogs owner a favor so dont judge! You all act like you didnt want to be bothered.

The Lucas County Dog Warden is wonderful!!! The staff is so friendly and the building has so many new updates it looks very inviting inside. Its great to have such a great asset in our community.

They told me since she was a stray no chip or papers that i could clam and be the owner and i would get her back. i call today i get told she was not a intake so i called the police department and they said they took her to call monday she maybe not in the system so i call them back and they tell me that somebody may have picked her up how if shes not even in the system and then they said we are a pound if i would have new that i would have never took her and they say if she is a pit we destroy her and also that i dont get her back i have to adopt her out and pay a fee and application to see if she fits in my home when i had her for about a day in a half as was already told before i would get her back so why should i have to pay for a adoptive fee when she has no owner and i wish to be her owner and the staff was rude to me i wounder how they treat them animals

I took my dog there on Monday I was having behavior issues with her, that same day ny family said we want to give her another chance. Called right away was told it would be Wednesday or Thursday before I could get her she needed current shots and to be spayed. We paid for it and called everyday to keep taps on her. The day Im suppose to get my dog back they have no idea what I was talking about gave no info on her and said if I was the owner they would call me. To me that was unprofessional Im wanting to know how my dog is doing dont be so quick to get off the phone be friendly and answer best to your knowledge, instead of in not sure I dont work the back, I hope never to.go threw.this again!

My male A.M. Staff was given to them by my ex. 3 weeks later he was still there. I tracked him down and called. The place was going to transfer him to another shelter till I called. They stopped it and allowed me to get him back. You guys dont understand how much he ment to me and I will always be thankful for the staff for not sending him away.Thanks soooooo much!!!!

Absolutely horrible experience! I’m a disabled veteran and I have 2 therapy dogs which this morning my 9 year old let outside improperly today and they got out of my yard and were turned into Lucas county care and control. When they contacted me bc I have them chipped they told me it was going to cost me $190 to get them back. I don’t have that kind of money so I asked if they could waive any fees due to financial hardship...the woman on the phone said originally they should be able to and I’d only have to pay the license fee for both dogs. Then she called me back and said they refused to waive the fees because my dogs were on a tieout and that’s signs of abuse...when I went in to get my dogs I asked once again if they would please waive some of the fees especially bc this is the first time this had ever happened and they refused and rolled their eyes at me and told me I should have read Ohio laws and been more careful and that I was lying about Felicia was her name telling me on the phone they could waive the additional fees for me. Then to top it off they claimed they couldn’t find their collars or tie outs that they came in with so that was another $80 I had to spend on top of everything else to get back MY therapy dogs. They were absolutely disrespectful and didn’t care at all. I wish I could turn them in for mistreatment of sorts after the horrible experience I had with them today.

Very rude in polite people....cant say id ever waste my time again....i found a dog in the middle of the night it was a female she got loose in stead of looking for her he stood in my yard arguing with me and wanting to write me a ticket...i said fine write it up get off my yard but go find that dog so shes not ran over....he said ya ok. Took him 20 mins to write the ticket and left didnt even attempt to look for her. She showed up at my house days later...i had to beg them to come get her because she wasnt mine but i didnt wanna leave her to be hit by a car...that way they could find her owner...now mine has a aggression issue and isnt safe around my 3 year old...im actually sitting in my car right this second waiting on them to come. So me and my daughter may enter our home safely. I had to speak to 2 diffrent people about coming. I was told they can not go to the humane society. (Dog warden told me that) so i dunno what to do. I do not agree with killing anything. But i can no longer have this going on in my home. These dog warden people are beyond rude and to them tickets are more important that these dogs...why ticket the person who isnt the owner but tried to save the dogs life????? We need better officials in our communitys. We all need to speak up against whats right and wrong. These people need diffrent jobs.

Called at 11am to report pits fighting in my yard. The office is now closed, I got no warning and it took me to call to find they arent coming and should be here in the morning. Thank God no kids were in my yard.

Please Please get the word out there and do not support animal kill shelters especially the Lucas county dog warden as they are a kill first ask questions later shelter.I was given a dog by a couple who adopted her from this shelter.We are moving and can not take her with us.She was very high energy and a pit bull and i did the right thing by taking her back to the shelter she was playing tug a war with my dad and her tooth scraped him and because i did the right thing in telling hem about it so they could find her a home without children and a big yard to run in and when i told them about the about the incident they said they were putting her down because she broke skin never mind the fact that they had already had her there 4 times and placed her in improper homes for her and did not investigate the homes that she was going to.I was honest and they decide to write me a ticket for a dog bite and kill the dog.I was going to leave with her but they had my drivers license and would not return it to me and were going to seize her if i did not sign her over.Any dog can scrape you when playing chase,tug a war,scratching their belly puppy`s play bite it is simply a dogs nature you could throw a stick for them and their nail could scratch you so does ever dog deserve to die or how about a cat scratching you does it deserve to die.Have the employees at the dog warden ever accidentally scratched anyone why are they not euthanized.They committed a murder and i will not let this rest lightly.So please think twice ask if they are a kill shelter before adopting or donating to shelters around the country.This is in Loving memory of Gypsy we love you baby girl and will miss you very much!!!!

They give to many breaks to owners that allow their dogs to run loose and they dont take your report very seriously

I called 4 times, one time no answer, 2 times on hold for over 30 minutes only to find out on the last call my sons dog had been put down. I even inboxed them.They said she was aggressive and fearful. How would you act if the only people you knew were your human family. I was told she would be observed and put out tol be adopted and my son would be kept up to date on what they found out. I liked to know how many days or times was she comforted. Couldnt have been long because she was surrendered Friday afternoon and its Tuesday and shes gone. The time I was put on hold I told the office I was trying to get Sassie out of there. Sorry Sassie she was only 15 mths wish I could have got thru sooner, I wish my son would have talked to me before he took her to the hell hole. I had some of the rescues trying to locate a rescue group. Sad sad.

Rottweiler, black and orange female, unlicensed, bite attempt, Broadway, Toledo, running at large. I found this dog running loose in the Broadway area She was not an aggressive dog, she was a pup and it was hurt. I will never called the Dog Warden Lucas County again, never again. She was killed three days after I turned her in,. and that is including the weekend. Staff was so rude.........they are very insensitive

There was only 1 dog for sale....they could have told us there are nun, wasting our time.

They dont remove pit bulls from owners that dont follow guide lines on keep your dog chained up and have tags ect plus the pit bulls next door to me killed two cats in my yard in front of me plus dam near bit me the owners next door to me dont care about there dogs or what there dogs do at all
