I had my chimney cleaned and my fireplace inspected. The fireplace had been installed in the 60s, and I could see the back-wall had some severe crumbling. It was recommended that I get a new insert. The initial cleaning took less than half an hour and the insert, which was completed on a second visit, was performed in about an hour. This is the first season, since moving into this house, that I am excited to use the fireplace with no concerns about chimney build-up or the back-wall falling apart.
