We had water damage in our basement and had Jim Black Construction rebuild it better than it was before! They were awesome to work with and did a phenomenal job finding us high quality options that fit within our constrained home insurance budget. Everyone in my family loves spending more time in our basement den now. Would absolutely choose to work with them again in any future remodeling or repair projects. Joe, our project manager, was great to work with and super responsive to all our queries and communication.
I was skeptical when having to select a company to repair/restore our flooded finished basement based on a list of company names my insurance provider give me. That was until my first interaction with Ken at Jim Black Construction. He was extremely professional and responsive through the entire process. Kyle, our super, was also great with communication and accommodating our families schedule the best he could. Not everything went 100% according to plan, it rarely does however Ken and Kyle made working with Jim Black construction an enjoyable process. Our basement looks amazing and I highly recommend this crew, thank you Ken and Kyle!
This company was doing work to a house in the neighborhood and it was the most unorganized bunch of people I have ever seen. Speeding in out of the neighborhood, playing loud music you can hear a block away, empty beer cans in the dumpster at the end of every day. So me and my wife went to confront what looked like job supervisor in company shirt about it he told us ya ya don’t you have something else to worry about karen and ken. You can call the office… so we peacefully walked away reported to his office with no response and reported to better business bureau. Probably stay away from this company. This isn’t the first bad review they have!
I used Jim Black Construction to help us rebuild our basement after a water loss that occurred towards the end of last year. It affected my family and I in a dramatic way that is for sure. Jim Black came in and helped make us whole again and while we ran into hiccups with plumbing and so on with my house they always helped find a solution and were fair on price compared to what I was seeing with other companies. They worked with my insurance and made sure to keep as much as possible off of our plate while meeting our needs to complete the project. I want to especially thank GREG OTTO and ALLAN DOUGLASS for making such a great impression and following though every step of the way. They were honest with me and their integrity made me feel at ease in and uneasy situation. HEATHER was also very kind and helpful on the back end of things when it came to our billing. Ownership please take the time out of your day to recognize these folks as you have great people that deserve recognition. Thank you for your hard work and efforts. I will highly recommend using Jim Black Construction. My best to your company and staff. Thank you again.
Jim Black Construction provided great service on my property that was completely damaged, that required restoration, from both the fire and water used on the fire. The team kept me informed from beginning to end and was always professional. They worked with the insurance and mortgage companies, as well as the city to fulfill all requirements. My property has been upgraded and looks great.I am pleased with their service and thankful for the professionalism during covid.
Jim Black Construction was wonderful. They were prompt with all communication, their staff was amazingly knowledgeable and so professional. They helped us when we had some water damage from a faulty fridge leak right after we had a new baby. They understood it was a very tricky and emotional time for our family to be dealing with this problem and they were wonderful and considerate. I would 100% recommend their team for any reconstruction, mitigation, etc.
We walked in to our master bath/ bedroom FLOODED coming home from our wonderful honeymoon. Jim Black construction was contracted by the at fault adjacent owner’s insurance to handle mold mitigation and repair. We are so GRATEFUL that this company helped us.If you choose to work with this company, ask for Joseph or Alan to handle your account. They are both kind-hearted, empathetic, responsive, timely and accommodating our situation. Thank you 🙏
They are fixing my house after a fire. Wonderful helpful staff thank you Ron,Rob and Heather
The Jim Black team helped us from first response through finished project for a house flood that impacted our home from upstairs to the basement. All of their folks were professional, on-time, and super courteous. The quality of the work and finished product is fantastic. Even though this was a terrible mess, they worked with us and our insurance company to help get us back in our home, and it is better than before the flood.
We have water damage in our basement and this company was referred to us by our insurance. They came to do a walk through for an estimate and a week later we have yet to receive anything from them. After speaking with our adjuster, we found out they said I refused to let them take a sample of our floor. I have cameras showing this man walking out of my house with a sample! We found this very odd and reading the negative reviews we decided not to work with them. Major red flag! If this is how they operate when they don’t even have your business secured, I don’t want to imagine what it’s like to actually work with them.
We had an insurance claim for hail damage on our home in the Baker area of Denver (an 1886 historical home). Jim Black Construction company was the main contractor in repair of all our damage. It included re-roofing on our home and the detached garage, full north exterior wall damage, replacing sky lights, gutter replacement, carpentry repair and painting. All of their subcontractors are hand-picked and superb. Jim Blacks staff were so helpful in coordinating the repairs, documenting damage to the insurance company and recommending a crucial decision to change where our gutter system drained water to avoid a damp basement. I cant say more to how they made fixing all the damage seamless.
We had water damage at our house, and our insurance company suggested Jim Black Construction for the repair work. We have been very pleased with the work. All work was done in a timely manner and with a high degree of skill. Thanks very much!
We recently had a rather large home renovation completed by Jim Black Construction and we couldnt be more pleased!! The entire team from the project manager to all of the crafts people were top notch! The job was completed on time and looks AMAZING! We would recommend them to our friends and family. Thank you for a job well done!
What a great experience for a not so good situation (broken sanitary plumbing line). Smooth process from beginning to end. Very professional team that treated my home as their own. Thank you to everyone from Jim Black construction for helping and being attentive throughout the project. I would highly recommend Jim Black Construction to anyone needing restoration work in their home or business. And did I mention they stayed within budget? Great job to the whole team!!!!
After my basement was flooded, Jim Black construction came to the rescue! They were professional, punctual, and kept me informed every step of the way. Highly recommended!
Worst company ever! If I could give negative stars I would. Someone backed into our house and they came out to temporarily repair it because our fence was down and we had a hole in the side of our garage. They spent an hour just putting up plywood and a couple 2x4s. We got charged for over 2 hours and they charged well over $700. We told them we would pay them when we got the insurance check and the employee started yelling and talking over my husband DEMANDING the money right then. Well, if we dont have it we cant pay you. We paid them and they still decided to keep sending a bill. They are horrible at customer service, didnt do much and overcharged an insane amount. They fully took advantage of our emergency situation.
Jim Black construction did an amazing job refinishing the lower level our home after a flooding incident. The level of communication and workmanship were off the charts Amazing! Skyler and Kevin are true assets to the company. They navigated us thru an insurance claim as well as other things we decided to pay them for on our own without as much as a hiccup. They know how to take care of people the way it should be done. Kudos to Jim Black and company!
Jim Black worked on a property that we had a fire at, which destroyed most of the interior structure. Since this was a project that was done through insurance, we were worried that it would take longer to get it completed and would probably cost us some additional amount to get everything done how we would like. From day one Jim Black took all that worry away with how they dealt with our adjuster and set a clear timeline for how we would complete everything. The whole Jim Black team was courteous and professional through the entire construction and made sure that we got exactly what we wanted. I recommend Jim Black to anyone dealing with any insurance claims especially on any restoration projects.
This company was suggested to us from our insurance company after our house had water damage. It took them months to get started but once they got going they did a decent job putting our house back together. The problem we faced was they billed us for things they shouldn’t have. They rushed putting in the carpet a day early, which we didn’t know until we came to check on our house and the guy installing the carpet told us he was told to install it a day early. The project manager told me and my husband that we were okay to leave those items in the room and we wouldn’t be charged for it. They told us the carpet will be installed Wednesday so we came home on Tuesday evening to our carpet already in. No one informed us about the change, or told us that we needed to move all the furniture. Months later this company harassed us for money for them moving out furniture. If this was discussed to us properly it would have been moved and there would have been no problems. It’s the fact that they put in the carpet earlier than we had discussed and the fact that the project manager had lied to us. We discussed this with billing and our project managers and yet they are still demanding money. Be careful with this company and make sure they don’t charge you for things they shouldn’t be. Very disappointing.Update: i am completely disgusted in how they treat customers. They have done nothing but lie. They also claim they contacted us multiple times but phone records have said otherwise. They then turn around to say we are the liars. So unprofessional.
We hired Jim Black Construction for a large mold and asbestos removal job and we were very pleased. Our point of contact, Mr. Kyle Simpson was phenomenal. Kyle made what was a nightmare into a manageable and comfortable process. We highly recommend them. They are ethical, professional and gave us the sincere impression that the truly care. Job was performed timely and we were updated every single day with the details. Would hire them again any time - The Nash Family June 17, 2016
Jim and the team are awesome! They always come on time when scheduled and make sure the work is completed in a timely matter. We have had many floods at my job site and anytime I need them here, either a weekend or 1:00 am in the morning, they answer the phone when called and show up right away. I know the University of Colorado is very happy to have such a great company,to help us in our needs. They are honest with you and take care of their customers. Also the work is outstanding, no cut corners as everything is put back together like it never happened. Thanks Guys!!
As a professional with multiple rental properties, Ive had more than my fair share of property claims, mostly water damage related. I came in contact with the Jim Black Construction Team by accident that ended up being a long standing relationship. They are my go to, trustworthy partners who understand the delicate balance of dealing with insurance claims while having my best interest in mind. They are professional and courteous; clean (a #1 rule in my home), and thorough. I am rather particular in the manner in which my properties are kept; (Im a detailed and white-glove kind of gal) so its very much appreciated that the Jim Black Team never gives me a hard time about my specifications but accommodates them willingly. Thank you.
Jim Black handled repairs of our condo after a plumbing leak. They handled the claim and any subsequent changes submission to the insurance, so that we didnt have to do anything after reporting the initial claim filing. We also somewhat upgraded the repairs, including a higher-end floor and a new kitchen counter to spruce up the kitchen. It was incredibly easy to work with them, and everything was done on schedule and as promised. I cant say enough about our project manager who communicated everything in great detail and very clearly, explained all the project and any updates to us and generally handled the project extremely well. I have rarely worked with such a dedicated team of professionals in my life who deliver such great quality work. I highly recommend them.
Last April our front-load washing machine malfunctioned, spewing gallons and gallons of water throughout the main floor of our house. Our wood floors begin to warp within a day and within three days the entire main floor was torn up down to the sub-floor; industrial sized fans were positioned through out the house and our walls were covered in plastic. We were lucky to have great insurance that was going to cover most everything but it was still going to be a major project that we would be living with for the next few months. We chose Jim Black Construction based on some recommendations and within a few days we were quoted a price and the process of rebuilding our main floor had begun. From the get go they answered our calls, our questions and made us feel certain that not only would our main floor be rebuilt, but it would be better than it was before. Boy did they deliver! First, every single crew member that came into our home was respectful and kind. We have a family of five kids, three dogs and a cat, so we have a lot of moving parts that sometimes require patience from others! We always had a point person for questions, which helped so much. Additionally, they worked with our insurance company to make sure we understood what was happening, where the money was coming from and going, and what we could expect. The finished product is beyond amazing. They were also honest in their estimates so we didn’t end up with unwelcome surprises. These are good people who do great work. Our home DOES look better than ever, and we can not say enough about the company that helped make it happen. Jim Black and his folks made what could have been a painful process so much easier. Thank you!
I cant speak for other peoples experiences, but I dont understand why people are unhappy with Jim Black - they are easily one of the most professional general contractors Ive worked with in years, and I would (and do!) happily recommend them to friends and family. Nobody *wants* to have a truck roll into their house, but from Day 1 JBC was easily the best part of the reconstruction process. They had emergency bracing and sheeting within hours so we didnt have to find a hotel, there was clear communication during the estimate and construction process, they bent over backwards to get my garage back in working order before the holiday season so we didnt have to deal with packed street parking, and they constantly delivered as promised and ahead of schedule.I dont wish anyone to need their help, but when the disaster strikes, these guys are great. Special thanks to Wayne, your work does the company a fantastic credit.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE MORONIC CLOWNS!!! This is for work done a few months ago.• Theyre rude and disrespectful beyond belief right from the very start, but naturally more so toward the end, and intolerably so after I had finally had enough and terminated their dumbasses.• Would only do 30 minutes of work a day sometimes, and only did 0-3 days of work a week. So it was like they moved into and took over my house for 3 or so months when it could have been done in less than 2 weeks.• Barged into my house at 6 am after I let them put a pad lock key storage on my front door so they could do the work when I wasnt home. And that was also after they were told not to come early that day if at all due to an illness and personal issue.• Left a giant orange stain on my driveway from seting up a moble workshop there instead of in the available garage without my permission in the least. I discovered their vandalism after coming home from commuting back from school. They then agreed it was their responsibility and to clean it up in order to get me to agree to let them continue the work, right up until when I fired them of course. Its a simple example of nature in action: when you create an action with your lazy, incompetent, and ridiculous disregaurd for your paying clients privacy, property, and even dignity, then you simultaneously create the opposite reaction of getting your sorry asses fired even with job almost done. You thought you could get away with being arrogant AHOLES just cause it was almost finished... you thought wrong. You get back what you deserve eventually. Enjoy your karma. To the rest of you just looking for the review info, sorry for the most undeniably deserved swearing and if your insurance company tells you to get it done with jim black like mine did after a plumbing leak, tell them ABSOLUTELY NO WAY!!!!UPDATE: The morning after I made this post, good ol jim decided to harass my phone by calling me 5 times in a row early this morning, yet were to cowardly to leave a voicemail. Ill tell you what jimbo, if you have the spine enough to try and intimidate me 😆 show up here at my house in person and tell me how you really feel. Cant wait to hear from ya creeps.UPDATE 2: Out of respect for the reviewing process I will disclose the following. They (jim black) at the time of the dispute managed to get my mentally ill mother to side against me simply because I called one of them an AHOLE! This was of course near the end of this disasterous nightmare and the people running jim black deserved it for various reasons already described (mostly described anyway). And since posting this review they have done most everthing one could imagine to get me to take this down. I would maybe bump their rating to 2 stars for their quite sincere effort, but sadly it is not anything close to the trama and rift they have caused in my highly dysfunctional family. They need to be taught the simple lesson that you dont screw with someone and their family in an ignorant attempt at damage control, then or now. They have called her in an attempt to play games/negotiate with me as they did then. And so I have made them deal with eachother and waste their time chasing their tails over this since they have again choosen to stand together. The review stands. Theres nothing those slimy aholes are gona do thats gona make me change my mind. The world needs to know how jim black operates and I will not tolerate intimidation nor manipulation, then or now. To the owners of jim black i say this: I have deleted your voicemails you left on my phone with out listening to them and will continue to do so. If you have something to say you can say it to me here... in this public forum... you know... the place you left me no choice but to turn to. I havnt filed a grievence with the better business bureau yet and probably wont (I think this is enough) unless you keep screwing with me or my family in a desperate attempt to hid your true colors. The review stands.
If it could be zero it would be. My house had to be rebuilt completely from a fire. Way under schedule and way over budget. They said it would take 6 months and it took 9. Almost every month they had a new reason to charge me more money. My favorite was when they didnt even know the local code for attic insulation in Adams county so had to charge me more for that. Very disappointed that a company who is supposed to rebuild houses doesnt even know local codes then charges me more because they screwed up.Next is when we sat down together to pick out all the fixtures I told them I wanted oiled rubbed bronze fixtures in my bathroom. He even wrote it down. Months later I discover they put in chrome. The cheapest finish they could buy. When I asked them about it they said oh shoot I even wrote that down. well oil rubbed bronze is more expensive so you have to pay more for us to change that out Wait why? Once again they screw up and once again they want to charge me more money.Other things they refused to fix include light switches installed on the wrong side of the wall for a room. My basement sink is double trapped which is against plumbing code. And they guy who did the tile poured grout down my floor drain. Now they did fix it but it tool them over a week to do it.Warranty, why bother, I have a tenant in the basement that pays rent. All of her outlets and lights just stopped working. on Saturday, I call Jim Black on Sunday he responds on Monday saying he can come over Tuesday he says an electrician will be here on Thursday, at 5 pm I call him because no one has shown up. He says he will show up tomorrow. At this point my tenant has been out of power for 6 days. I call my own electrician and it is fixed by 7 pm the same day on Thursday night. now of coarse they dont want to pay for it because it wasnt their electrician Well having to live in the dark for over a week is unacceptable. All in all DO NOT TRUST JIM BLACK CONSTRUCTION!You will pay way more money then planned, It will take way longer then planned, And when an issue arises dont hold your breath because it seems to always take over a week to get the most simple thing fixed.
A year after these guys repairing my floors, the quality of workmanship is really beginning to show. Lots of gaps.
I wish I could say I had a good experience with this company. I attempted to call for help on hail damage to my siding 2 months ago and was told I would receive a call back. I didn’t get one. This is understandable as I know things get busy. I called back a month later and explained I never heard back and was assured they would call me back. Another month has passed and I’ve not heard back. Apparently they don’t want my business. Interesting that Nationwide told me they are one of there preferred vendors because my experience has been that they aren’t interested in helping me with my inquiries.
Gary, Tony, and the rest of the organization are terrific. They always take the time to explain everything and make sure you understand what they are going to do and how much it it going to cost. Very thorough and professional. I would definitely use them again.
Jim Black Construction (JBC) was recommended to me by my insurance adjuster to restore my rental condo after it sustained extensive water damage due to frozen pipes. I selected JBC after interviewing and obtaining bids from 4 restoration companies. What I liked most about JBC:1. Quality work. This was a complete remodel from the studs out. The result was beautiful, from tile work to cabinetry to flooring to painting. The subs they used were excellent. Almost no punch list-- everything was done right the first time.2. On time and on budget. No surprise change orders, no extra costs tacked on. They gave me a detailed budget and stuck to it. Further, they didnt leave my job to work on other projects, as has happened to me numerous times with other remodeling projects.3. Experience dealing with insurance adjusters. JBC was able to get me the most money for my restoration project, because they understand how to prepare and manage project bids for insurance claims4. Project management. Each job is assigned a project manager to oversee the project. Mine was Joe N., who was excellent. Joe worked with me from the initial estimate through the final walk through. He was easy to reach, detailed, and organized. Work was completed when he said it would be. Our project supervisor Allan D was also great.Bottom line. Call them!. My only regret is that Jim Black Construction was not contacted the minute our water damage was detected, as they also can provide the fans, dehumidifiers, etc. Instead, I had poor experiences with 2 other damage mitigation companies brought in by my HOA.
Adams 12 School District has used Jim Black Construction for multiple restoration and renovation projects over the past few years and have always had a great experience. The ease of doing business with them and their reliability are greatly appreciated!
We received the recomendation for Jim Black from our insurance company. They were extremely professional, thorough, timely in completing the project. Their roofing group even rerouted a drain spout when they realized it was dangerously placed by the architect. Any questions or concerns were immediately addressed. The site manager, billing office, and all workers couldnt have been nicer in dealing with my wife and I. We would recommend them with the highest degree of respect.
We had extensive damage due to a house fire. Between the fire, the water damage and the asbestos, the entire home needed to be gutted and replaced, including the roof. Jim Black Construction did an amazing job. The only thing not replaced was the exterior brick. If I could give them 10 Stars, I would. Supervisor, Tony, was always available for any questions we might have. Jim Black was too. And they stand behind their work, 100%. If something came up, they were right on it. I would highly recommend Jim Black Construction for any job, large or small. You will not be disappointed!!
Mistake was made . Nothing but great things to say of Jim Black construction!! Very professional service
Like working with Family, without all the bitterness. Always accessible day or night to answer questions. Treated us as if were their only customer. Unfortunately we suffered a fire at the building, but thanks to insurance and Jim Black Construction, we are back up and going.
I hired Jim Black Construction to do some repairs on my condo after it sustained significant water damage due to negligent construction by Sun Construction & Design Services, Inc. I thought Id get the place sale-ready and unload it, but the confidence I have in the beautiful rebuild by Jim Black wont allow me let go of my home. Thank you folks at Jim Black. You have a customer for life.
Jim Black Construction replaced my roof, furnace and electrical panel. They did a fine job on all of the work. They are knowledgeable and professional people to work with and I highly recommend them for all your remodeling needs.
Our Basement flooded and Jim Black Construction was assigned by USAA to replace the drywall, insulation, and carpet. It was early summer so the timing of the repair took awhile to get on their schedule. Nature of the beast in construction. The quality of the work was fantastic. The basement looked the same if not better after the repair. Their superintendents had great attitudes. Only issue was had a poor phone call from their Accounting ddepartment. Otherwise had a good experience.
We recently had a water leak in our basement which caused flooding and called Jim Black Construction. A team was at our house within 2 hours with fans, dehumidifiers and spent the next several hours beginning the repairs. They returned over the next 2 days to check on progress and assess damages. They took care of all the damaged drywall, insulation and mess. They were very easy to work with, kept us informed and were very efficient. They made a difficult situation much easier and I highly recommend them.
I havent used this service but based off the way the truck in front me with plate 269-QHY is driving I hope it isnt as reckless. Hopefully the construction aspect is more reliable than the driving skills!
Jessie and Hunter came out for a flooded basement great guys. Got it done quickly and great would highly recommend Jim black 100%
I work as a field adjuster here in Colorado. I have known the people at Jim Black Construction for over 10 years. I have found them to do an excellent job in both the construction and water mitigations areas, and I have found them to provide excellent customer service in the process.
We found ourselves suddenly out of our townhome because of the explosion in the home next door. We chose Jim Black Construction because they were the ones doing the rebuild next door, and we are certainly glad we did! Two of the three levels of our home had to be taken down to the studs, and everything was completely rebuilt. Everyone associated with JB Construction was friendly and caring, and they guided us through every decision we had to make. We chose to do some upgrades, and everything was done professionally and excellently. We would recommend them without reservation in an instant. Thank you, JBC, for all you did for us!
I would absolutely never use Jim Black Construction again. I am also disappointed in USAA for recommending them in the first place. I had a leak in my roof that only happened during rain storms. I explained the problem to Jim Black Construction and they came out to look at it. The work was expensive and after they completed it, the roof leak was still there. This entire process started in March and they didnt finish the work until May-ish. After several back and forth discussions, I had them reduce the amount owed for the work since they didnt complete what they said they would and then roof leak didnt go away. I had to hire another company to come out and complete the work and they ended up ripping out the entire roof and redoing it for LESS than the entire cost of what I paid Jim Black Construction. To make things worse, they didnt contact me for payment until 4+ months afterwords. From beginning to end, I dealt with them from March 2018 - September 2018 for a problem they did not fix. It is a shame that USAA associates themselves with a company that cannot figure out how to solve a simple roof leak. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Ours is the home featured in pictures in September 2014.We cannot describe the despair we felt at losing our home and most of our possessions. We cannot describe our gratitude to Jim Black Construction for bringing us back home to a beautiful space that we could be comfortable in and begin to heal in.This was not an easy fix: it took 9 months to peel the inside of all damaged items and damaged walls. The structure was damaged because of the heat. Yet, regardless of the size of the job, JBC took every phase of the job seriously, handled it with professionalism, and hired only top-notch subs for the job when not working with their own...which was rare. The people at Jim Black operate with such compassion and empathy, and they treated us with such kindness. Every success and every snag was handled beautifully. Communication was transparent, honest, and we knew we could trust the people who work there. No one wants to be left on the curb after a fire or flood. The experience left us vulnerable and devastated. But, the people at JBC helped every step of the way, and the finished project is tremendous!
We had a house fire August 5th,2017..Jim Black Construction came in and transformed our house from the burned up mess that it was..into a beautiful home that we are now living in once again! The people here at JBC are great people and I would highly recommend them to everyone ! Especially going through such a crisis as we have had!
Work was decent, but very slow, the billing process even slower, seems to be behind times technology when it comes to managing money side. 9months still trying to resolve Bill, work done by contractors gutters suspect, gutter already falling off, should have told me fascia needed to be replaced instead of jamming it up there
Great to work with and super responsive. Our roof needed replacing and they were recommended via USAA. I will call them if I need bids for other types of work they do.
Jim Black screwed me over royally. My insurance company (USAA - which I now am dropping partly due to this disaster) set me up with these guys, and they only did half the job and walked out on me. Which set me back a couple of weeks, and cost me a couple grand. The new people I brought in (Abbott - who I do recommend) found several issues that they did wrong. The whole thing became a cluster as USAA required JB to fix the issues, before Abbott started to fix the rest of JB mess. Complete lack of professional, and perfect example of why contractors have a bad reputation. They just do not care about there customers.
This guy is a two face and changes like the weather, he will talk nice and play sincere at first, dont trust him. Terrible attitude, very unprofessional, untruthful
My landlord hired this company on July 7th for mold extraction and its now July 20th and Im still displaced. They were very accommodating at first to lock up the business. A third party has advised us on two occasions that more work is needed so they did not do a effective job the first time.Communication: To date they have no showed twice and when they do commit to a job they refuse to even give a time slot. You basically have to wait on their command.Based on the reviews the company has a strong history of being professionally impotent.Stay away! This is not a place for customer success.
The work was fine. Three months later, the bill still is not settled as JBC,Inc has not sent the needed info to my insurance company. It took JBC three weeks just to send me the initial bill & then two weeks later I got a 30 days late notice. Avoid the hassle & look elsewhere.
We subcontracted to Jim Black Construction of the refurbish of Adams County Firestation. Our Murphy Bed system had been selected for 7 rooms. The working relationship was cordial, and payments were prompt. This is a fine company.Ron McKey, President FlyingBeds International
I obtained contact information for Jim Black construction directly from my insurance company and lets just say I wish I would have done my homework and looked elsewhere! I too, would give 0 stars if possible. The job Jim Black did on my residential property, a small job on my living room ceiling as a result of Spring water damage, was very discouraging and I would proceed with caution if you are considering this company! . The job should have been very straight forward and taken no more than 2 days to complete, some re-texturing, paint and insulation. Scheduling was somewhat a challenge but that was understandable as it was summer. What was purely unacceptable was the quality of work. My 6 year old could have done a better job texturing and blending, the paint did not match and was splattered all over the closet door and wall indicating that no prep work was done, the workers coming in my house tracked mud throughout (not enough common sense to protect my home from mud after days of rain?), the sheet rock to the entrance of my attic was cracked and damaged. Paint stains near my faucet outside on the siding of my home were prominent. Urine was left un-flushed in my toilet. And the kicker was they broke my modem and I was left without internet access for days. When I tried to get them to deal with the modem they left it up to me and then when I deducted the cost of parts/temporary modem rental fees from the cost of the bill ( a mere 70 dollar charge), they fought me every step of the way. They did come to essentially re-do everything they had done in my home, which meant another week under construction for what should have been a 2-3 day long job if done properly. Ever after half-hearted attempts/band aids to repair damage/mitgate poor workmanship my home would have been better off if they never stepped foot on to my property. Good luck if you make the poor choice to go with this careless company.
By the time my six year old told me, “Mommy our floor seems bumpy here,” our refrigerator line had been leaking for three days and the water was beginning to warp our surrounding hardwood floor. Jim Black Construction came to our house within a couple hours of my phone call and immediately went to work to mitigate any further damage to our floors and walls. They even found damage that had gone into our powder room behind the refrigerator that we didn’t know was there. Each mitigation and construction crew that came to our home through the entire repair process was professional and polite. We were impressed that they took care to minimize dust and disturbance to the rest of the house with their protective coverings. Jim Black Construction was the GC on all work and made an unpleasant situation much easier. I would recommend them to anyone who finds herself in a similar unexpected water damage restoration.
The worse experience ever....I had a CAT 3 sewer loss in my basement jim black started off great I thought.. i brought another contractor in as peace of mind for me and my family and the contractor brought an inspector with him to test the affected areas and told me it was completely un sanitary to live in with my wife kids and pets. jim black refused to release there test results and told me everything was fine after i watched the inspector test my basement carpet and contents and all failed right in front of me bryan with jim black has zero care what so ever regarding the unsanitary living situation they put mte and my family in!please do not use jim black and if you do and dont feel right about something get a second opinion!
Would give zero stars if that were possible. Had the displeasure of dealing with these snake oil salesmen after a fire in our condo building. Most everything that they told us were lies and empty promises, and they were naturally unaccountable when their promises failed to come to fruition. Avoid them at all costs.
Great
