Please Note: This review pertains to the experience with a worker and not directed to the post office as a whole. Past experiences rate 3 stars. At 9:20 am. I came with a small package and asked the lady for a Mailing label to send the package to Oregon. She told me I needed to fill out a grey form, which was never asked of me previously when I sent something a year ago, but figured rules changed. I asked which form because there were a few there and she caught an attitude with me as I had pointed out there were a few labels with a couple of gray ones.I tried to explain but her attitude got worse, even going so far as to tell me I can take it to Sleepy Hollow and if I continued she would not help me.So I took a form, filled it out and came back to the counter. She then asked me if I needed a label, which is what I asked her in the first place. I then told her Ive never needed any forms to mail packages to Oregon. She then told me she didnt know if I was sending the package internationally or locally.I told you to Oregon, its one of the 50 states. Youve never heard of Oregon? No, Ive never heard of Oregon. she says.Youve never heard of the Oregon Trail?Soooo, I had to look up at the screen, find the right label and fill it out finally sending the package. As she put the package away to be shipped, I sardonically told her to have a great day, and she snipped back, You too. And have a Great Thanksgiving, cause I know I will.I told her, Thats great to know.As I was walking out the door, I turned and told her, Itll give you time to brush up on your 50 states.
Drove 30 minutes to come to this branch because it says closes at 6 pm and have been here other times when they have closed at 6. The door decal says 6 but already closed was at the location at 5:30. As always It’s a government job no one cares as I see there are other reviews of this location with the same issue. It’s pretty despicable that they have 2 stars on Google.
Never had a major issue ! Is it busy at times ..Yes. is It at times an inconvenience to wait in line sometimes but what isnt.I have to say I find the employess super helpful and knowledgeable .
It is as if there is a competition amongst the staff (inside the post office) as to who can be more rude. If there was an alternative to stepping foot in that place, I would take it. BUT my mail carrier Marie, is terrific!😊
Its a small town post office that can get busy at times but the staff is super friendly and helpful. They will go out of there way to help you and make sure you get the service you need.
I have sent two packages from this post office on two different occasions over the last few months. Both were guaranteed by 10:30am the next day. In both cases, it did not and I had to hunt it down.
They have been amazing with me maybe person had a bad day it happens!
Jackie is the best! always helpful and smiling. its life folks.lines and waits happen. chill out, relax and NEVER BE RUDE TO THE EMPLOYEES! they do their best.
Carrier lied about a package saying there was animal interference when delivering package - directions then stated that our package would be delivered the next day - its been 5 days - we havent received 1 bit of mail since, including our package, we rescheduled the delivery they never came. We called the office they dont answer the phone. worst post office ever its shameful!
Terrible customer service by Sosa and the supervisor there (a white gentleman with gray hair)So nasty and tried everything they could to not solve my missing package issue including lying to me about where the location of it was. It took them over 30mins to resolve this when if they simply looked up tracking in the first place probably wouldve taken 5mins.They are an awful representation of our government.
Listen. Ive worked a lot of custumer service (over a decades worth) and for every other post office ive been to the delays were understandable and the staff may not of been happy or cheery, but didnt feel malicious. Here, I was given different instructions and forms to complete and sent to the back of the line 3 times. At one point i had to leave to refill the paymeter for parking because I hadnt expected it to take more than 45 minutes to send a single package. In the end the process took over an hour(almost an hour and a half) and honestly I plan to try elmsford or go private next time. The staff seems to have some regulars that theyre sweet with but if youre not one of those ypu may get the runaround
Horrible. Jacqueline does not know what customer service is. She is very rude and confrontational. She also has 0 filter. Only in a government job can you expect service like this. The private sector would not tolerate this type of behavior, but because she works for the USPS, she thinks she’s untouchable. Based on other comments on this review, I would highly advise management to implement some type of disciplinary action. Highly doubt that will happen though.
Close whenever they want. Today they are listed for 6, sign on door says 6, close before 5.Employees are mean as well.
Go 6 blocks down to Sleepy Hollow post office and ask how many people say tarrytown is not friendlyE
The entire staff is rude. The way they treat their customers is disgusting. They are liars, sarcastic, dismissive, in-genuine, and aggressive. I highly recommend driving your packages across the country to their destination yourself - it’ll save you time, mistreatment, and disappointment.
Edit: Years ago, I originally treated this office harshly in a review for being severely understaffed (which seems to be all offices and not employees fault). Now, having moved away, I had a package accidentally sent to our old address and had to call and beg to be saved. The employee I spoke to was very nice and assisted me by calling the letter carrier to stop the delivery, retrieve it, and fix my error by re-sending the item. I am very grateful to him, it was an important item!
People there are helpful. Fast service.
First of all, the United States Postal Service/Tarrytown Post Office is a failing Government run entity who lacks any interest whatsoever in the people they serve. I have never encountered such a high existence of rude people acting is if they are doing the public a favor having their packages delivered. How quickly the United States Postal Service/Tarrytown Post Office forget that it is the public who pays their salaries and who pays for each and every shipment that is delivered to the publics door. They are lazy, rude and lie like bandits to cover themselves. Misplaced mail & packages are ending up all over Tarrytown NY. Mail that is designated for one individual is ending up in someone elses mailbox never to be seen again. And then you have the real lazy mailman who cant be bothered opening up the mailboxes and instead leaves them all over a table for the residents to sort out. And we cant forget the mailman who claims he tried to make a delivery but no one was home. You know, that mailman that is to lazy to get out of the mail truck because its getting close to leaving time. What the hell kind of garbage is this? If the failing USPS cant run the damn post offices correctly, then go bankrupt and let someone else take over the mail delivery system. Im sick and tired of my taxes financially bailing out this poorly run Government institution. Enough is enough. They dont deserve their salaries or their pensions. Sad how the times have changed and not for the better either.
I went to this post office bringing 20 envelopes to send. With a bad arrogant attitude the lady on the front said she can only do 10. She did those 10 envelopes in a minute and was sending me to the line to wait for more than 30 minute so she can do the other 10 in a minute. I asked her many times in a kind way, her voice started to raised so was her stubbornness too. She wasted almost 5 minutes arguing about it than actually taking care of my other 10 envelopes in 1 extra minute. I spoke to the supervisor, but she was even worse. I am not coming back to this post office ever!!!
Im standing here at 8:54am. Full service opens at 9:00. I am attempting to drop off a pre paid package and there is no way to do that other than hand it to a worker. There is a worker here she is standing at the counter, having a personal phone conversation refusing to just allow me to hand her the package. When I asked if I could she rolled her eyes said we aint open and then continued her phone conversation. 6 minutes before they opened and she could have taken the package in the time she was rude to me. I guess that personal phone call she is having while being clocked is one of the many reasons the USPS is failing.
I had an issue with my carrier. He was stacking the packages for the entire apartment building in front of my door, which was the only one that led outside the building. It was sometimes so heavy I couldnt open my door. I tried not to make a big deal out of it but then he left my wedding invitations outside in the rain. They were destroyed. I called corporate and launched an investigation which resolved nothing. Recently, I came in to inquire about a package I was supposed to receive. the woman at the front desk Jacqueline was speaking to a friend (the young police woman who walks up and down the street giving tickets) about church and kept waving her hand at me. She insisted on having me wait for another employee who never came. Then yelled at me in front of everyone else in the post office for not answering her questions to her expectations. She was incredibly rude and condescending. I left and called corporate again to file a complaint. This morning I called the Tarrytown post office to talk to a manager. The postmaster, Robin, answered the phone telling me there was nothing she could do about my package, that corporate would not do anything about my complaints, and that it was my word against her employee, Jacqueline, regarding her rudeness to me. Now Im out over $1000 and the post office has not tried to rectify the situation with even anything as slight as a kind word or explanation. She insisted she shouldnt even be answering the phones.
Haven’t had any problems. They’ve been very helpful the few times I’ve been in there. We will see how it goes on a Saturday, tomorrow !
This post office is the worst. Very disorganized, no one answers the phone, they make false promises all the time. I called to speak with the post master to make an appointment for a large volume mailing. She assured me that Id have the right staff on hand. I get there during my appt time and no one was available to help me! The manager on staff, Mani, happened to be there and asked Kathy to do overtime to help me out. Otherwise, I would have been screwed. They really need an overhaul at this place!
I find most of this post office employees to be incompetent!
Most of the employees at this station absolutely hate their job. Your lucky to get someone to answer the phone. Almost all of them are brain dead. We can only pray that privatization comes fast.
Very dissatisfied. I will not return to this post office. I needed to ship a book media mail with tracking and the clerk 08 Joanne told me that I must buy priority in order to get tracking, which is very incorrect. I told her this did not sound right and she told me it was the only way to get tracking. So instead of paying a little over $3 for my package I was charged $9.75. DO NOT GO HERE.
Only thing worse than the incompetence of the employees is the post master. She could not care less that employees mishandle and damage deliveries, that is IF THEY EVEN ARRIVE, AT ALL.
Unable to deliver mail. Unable to keep a courteous window. The manager should be ashamed.
2nd worst post office Ive ever had the displeasure to use. Makes me happy a lot of these overpaid grocery clerks will soon be losing their jobs. Worthless to say the most.
If I could give negative stars, I would. The service person, Jackie, was so rude and nasty to a woman before me then was rude and nasty to me. I asked her name and she called me rude and nasty. Talked to the sullen postmaster and she just looked at me. Very bad service and really bottom of the barrel.
How do you leave a delivery notice when you dont even ring the door bell? This is such a small town, how to do you mess up deliveries??? why are you always late??? Why are you so rude???I cant with this place. USPS is THE WORST EVER!
The service here is terrible. i just got a notification from UPS app saying that my package had been transfered to USPS and was delivered to me today. i have not received my package yet. no one answered the phone at the post office at 5:30 . this has happend four times since I lived at this address, mostly sunday deliveries thoigh, they dont even bother to ring the bell or bring package to my apartment. in two ocassions they abandoned my packages in the lobby of the building without notifying me. they will have to respond if they lost this shipment.
The worst post office ever first they give my package to someone that didnt even know me second when I called to complain they asked me to call back tomorrow because its busy what kind of post office treats people that way.. you suck big time
I always find the staff helpful and friendly. Too bad the Congress keeps cutting back their funding.
Terrible. Inefficient. Never left without waiting over 15 minutes while meter expires and that being first in line!
Not so friendly/service minded
The new mailman for vinny is terrible lost my priority mail package
Horrible service. Only one teller. 30+ minute every time you try to get anything done.
I have never had a good experience with this post office...they constantly lose packages and say there is nothing they can do about it.
Horrible the line is always busy and my mail is always late
Good service
Service slow
