Spencer was recommended highly by the concierge at my hotel. I was not disappointed at all as Spencer is not only a phenomenal Guide but also an all around decent human being. Spending the day fishing under Spencers guidance felt like being under the spell of a fishing Zen master. Not only does he know the waters and where the fish can be found but he also exhibits an incredible respect for the fish and the environment. Make sure he tells you about his fly tying and hook making skills . If you want the best day fishing Northern NM waters Spencer is your man.

Wonderful fishing guide. Spencer is highly competent, knows the water and reads people just as well. Im a relatively new fly fisherman and he made substantial improvements on me by mid-day. Not only is he safe, organized and professional, but hes good company and easy to be around. My wife gave me a day to just go on our 29th anniversary and we made the most of it. We drove about an hour into southern Colorado and fished all day. Couldnt quit catching brown trout the first two hours, then rainbows and finally back to the browns by 4 in the afternoon. I quit counting. Really. The views, lunch and company were wonderful. Ill use Zia Fly again soon.
