A friend recommended this place to me because he currently resides there, I was still skeptical but his recommendation played a factor in me moving in. I’m still attempting to figure out how much more different could his situation be than mine for him to recommend this place, because moving here has been one of the worst decisions I have made. I am only 4 months into my lease and I have regretted every second of it.I’m not even going to focus on how outdated things are, and I’m not talking furniture (more like plumbing,etc..); But really what is frustrating is that they do not fix/replace things but rather patch it, that is when they do show up. The maintenance team is well aware that certain things need to be replaced and they will tell you that. Then admit that management gives them a budget and requests that they patch things to avoid replacing it, which then leaves you as tenant to keep calling maintenance about the same issue over and over again. 4 months in, and my stove has not been working properly to the point where I stopped calling maintenance because what is the point? they’ll only tell me that the whole stove needs to be replaced but it won’t be done.Apartment above me has leaked through mine 2/3 times now. I’m told it’s fixed twice now, but I know it’s a matter of time. Bathroom sink leaking, gets patched, works for a bit, and cycle starts over.I remember having a hard time opening the front door on first day of moving and being told by maintenance, “oh it’s a little trick, you gotta jiggle it this way.” Oh I’m still using that little trick btw.I take full responsibility for putting myself in this position. Will run down my lease and dip. But I’m writing this so you’re aware of what to possibly look forward to. Stay away.
ALL PICTURES ON THERE WEBSITE OF INSIDE THE APARTMENTS ARE REALLY NOT HOW THEY LOOK. THE APARTMENTS ARE RUN DOWN AND AIR QUALITY IS HORRIBLE WITH RUST INSIDE VENTILATION UNITS. DYON POLK ALONG WITH HIS STAFF ARE THE WORST MANAGEMENT WHEN IT COMES TO PRIVACY OF YOUR APARTMENT AND STALKING. REPETITIVE STALKING OF YOUR APARTMENTS WHEN LIVING AND OVERALL THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER REPORTING THIS PLACE TO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. ALSO THERE ARE ALWAYS ISSUES WITH SEWAGE COMING UP THE DRAINS OF THE SHOWERS AND ALSO SEWAGE LEAKING IN THE BACK YARDS OF UNITS AND AT THE SAME TIME PEOPLE HAVE USED THE WASHING MACHINES AS A BATHROOM SO DO NOT CLEAN YOUR CLOTHES THERE EITHER! I HAVE PICTURES OF ALL THIS AND ITS GETTING SENT TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.
I read the accounts if former tenants who lived there. These conditions are unacceptable. It is cruel and inhumane to evict people during COVID-19. Then you all take advantage of the economic situation and rise there rents, while one of your current tenants had a bathtub fall from the ceiling. It is absolutely appalling, and if you find these to be acceptable living conditions, please go live there yourself.
Unresponsive to basic tenant requests and rapidly increasing the price of rent. The plumbing system was installed decades ago and is in desperate need of an overhaul.
This place gave me a home for the first year of my masters. It is a charm, and it is what you make of it. If you are nice to your neighbours, they will be nice to you. The neighbourhood is not perfect, the buildings are not super modern- but you can expect maintenance there as soon as you call. Karen, Diana, and Dyon have been nothing short than professional and loving since I moved here; they made me feel welcomed. I really enjoyed my time here, and am sad to be leaving. Ascott place has been a great experience in my books!
Came all the way from Fort Lauderdale to check the apartments, they ask for your driver license and if it doesnt scan you cant see the apartments, and they ask if you bring your passport .... really?, I mean it is not even a gated community to have such security requirements and if this happens they should have a way to input the DL number, what if I cMe from farther, bad experience from the get go, well, there was no get go.
Here’s my story:I don’t live in this apartment complex, but my mother does. She’s been living here since 2009/10 so it’s been 10* years of her living in this complex. Couple points: 1). They’re very specific in the terms when you signed or resign with them. It is everyone’s responsibility to go line by line and if something is just not right to address the issues with them personally. They tell you that Fitness Center is optional with a charge for a key, when are you supposed to pay, etc. They’ll never tell you to sign right away and not look at the fine prints. 2). The situation about laundry centers. I’ve literally seeing the Maintance guys go and clean them almost daily(mornings and after 4ish). Is it every single day? I do not know but the actual responsibility is with the tenants of this complex to at least be decent enough to clean up after using the facilities. I’ve done laundry there and it’s crazy when I sometimes walk in and see softener papers on the floor, clothes on the floor, etc. That’s not the office job to go there every single minute to clean up after each tenant. 3). Dumpster area. There’s pictures posted here of dumpsters with trash bags outside of them. Again, I pick up my mother from work around 8am and each morning I see the Maintance dude picking up trash around the complex AND cleaning around the dumpsters. One of the pictures shows the main dumpsters by the office with the middle one FULL but the other 2 by each side are near to half empty. This tells me that tenants here do not care to at least be decent enough to put their trash in either one of those by the side of middle one. Disgusting to see people just walking by, put the trash outside the dumpster and keep walking. Morally decent people don’t do that. I dare anyone to be by the main pool each morning and watch the Maintance guy clean around those dumpster each and every day, with the exception of Sundays of course. I mean y’all paying rent for a space in the complex but it doesn’t stop only at the main door. It also depends on every person to do their best to keep the community clean. That way bugs don’t start to roll over. 3. The office. All 3 of them are very decent and nice people, at least to my mother and me. Given as I work in a call center dealing with customer 10hrs a day each day that their might be days when you can’t display their best attitude towards a situation, so I never expect them to be all chatty and friendly 24/7/365. Every time their is a request for Maintance in my mother apartment, it always gets taken care of extremely fast AND if there’s an issue that will take one or several days, they will inform you and keep you updated. Yes rent could be lower, everyone would love that but people need to research the area and see how much other apartments in the area are going for these days, and is high.Bottom line is this, everyone’s situation is different but I’ll be damned if I’m going to read all these reviews and people to imply that this is the worst place ever. Again, you want an absolute clean community? Then do your part and make sure it gets kept that way. It doesn’t mean for anyone to go around the complex cleaning everyone’s balcony or trash. But it also means that if you see someone leaving trash by the dumpster instead of inside, say something. Laundry centers dirty? If you see something speak up to them and address that immediately.I would actually like to give them thanks to them(Diana, Karen, Dion(sorry if I misspelled your name), and the Maintance crew. Yes things can improve a bit here and there but it takes every person in this complex to keep clean, neat and looking good
I am almost living here for eight months . I am giving my honest review. It is the dirtiest apartment and very poor management. They are very unprofessional too. Maintenance is also very bad. My water heater was not working since 8 months but they are not able to fix it. Here rent is also not fix. Every month they will put some extra charge on the top of regular rent. They said gym and other facility is free but when I joined this apartment they charges 50 dollar for that. Window is broken and I complained many times but they have not yet fixed. So the maintenance is very very poor. And when you talk to management they speak very very rudely . Rent also they want in very advance almost before the month end itself. If you delay for an hour also they are charging horribly. I used to pay rent on every 3rd of the month and just one month I delayed for an hour and tried to pay on 4th of the morning of that month and they charged 75 dollar extra. So they know very cleverly where to make money. It looks cheaper apartment but it is really not. So be aware when you are going to rent this properties.
I would rather be homeless than give another cent to this place. If you have an issue with your house, maintenance has no urgency. They don’t tell you about hidden fees they Just pound on your door with a letter demanding money and run away. The apartments themselves are made out of dirt and paper. I lived on Gates and the road was always littered with trash and BROKEN GLASS.
Completely unresponsive to maintenance requests while continuing to raise your rent.Ive already talked to management directly and the issue is still not fixed after months and months.
I have been living here for 5 months and they have yet to fix the A/c after multiple calls.
Lack of compassion during COVID.My boyfriend lives in here and I’m saddened to see a community’s insensitivity. My boyfriend paid through the pandemic however, he was late. He owns a local restaurant and as we all know restaurants were forced to shut down. Government assistance isn’t as easy to obtain as you would think. The community refuses to wave late fees and threatening to evict him.IN RESPONSE TO OWNER’S RESPONSE:By the way the community offered that he could pay rent late without late fees. Whether he went out of town for vacation or work, he signed a paper that he would pay April rent over a 3 month period and because he paid May rent on April 31 so he would not have late fees for May they made excuse that it went to April rent. He traveled because he was gathering items for the restaurant donated by someone but this shouldn’t matter because they stated they wouldn’t charge late fees. Anyhow, the community wants to escalate this instead of working with a tenant that paid through the pandemic. The court will now have to decide. This is all over mere $100 and 2 days late. This is a pandemic and this is for principle. Shame on this Ascott Place Apartments. No wonder this community has 2.3 stars.
I lived here for three years and it was truly a wonderful place. The front office has always been friendly, understanding, and beyond helpful. I only left because I decided to buy but I will always recommend it. The apartments are quiet and the office doesn’t bother you. I have read on some reviews that people feel the office harassed them but if so I can only imagine they were doing something very wrong. They were even kind to me when I was late on rent! (Oops). I was charged when leaving for things that were completely my fault and I was actually charged less than I expected. All maintenance issues were solved quickly and efficiently with many apologies from the office team and the maintenance team for any inconveniences. Over all just a wonderful place. I was happy to call it home.
Management is incredibly friendly and helpful! I moved into a two bedroom, transferred to a one bedroom, and had to break my lease - all with a year. It was all crazy, but they made everything super easy to deal with. I greatly appreciate their lease break cost - Its only one month rent instead of the rest of the lease.Maintenance crew was incredible. I had issues with my shower and had them out multiple times overt a couple weeks. They were always timely, pleasant to talk to, and made sure everything was taken care of and cleaned up.The gym and pool are a tad small, but are great for what I needed them for. Also, for Tampa, the rent is pretty affordable.
Great apartments for college students! My fiancé and I are both currently in school and were looking for an affordable apartment to live at while finishing our degrees. Ascott Place has been wonderful to us. Diana and Dyon have been a great help to us, especially with being first time movers. The complex is nice and in a convenient area; only a few minutes away from Walmart, Wawa, and multiple medical offices. We are very happy with our move and will recommend Ascott Place to everyone!
I lived here for 4 years in a 1/1 and didnt have issues. If I did have a maintenance issue it was easy to schedule and they promptly resolved the problem. The office staff is wonderful! (Karen & Diana). My apartment was attached to the office building and it was so cozy and the perfect location. The fitness center was great. The pools and landscape areas were always clean and overall it was quiet except for the ambulance sirens due to the hospital residing next door. (But hey, its Tampa and of course you hear sirens in a large city!) I had a good experience while living here and would recommend it to any college student who is just starting out.
The office staff is amazing and truly help you with everything they can. I have lived here for a little over a year already and I love it. Its always very quiet, the maintenance staff does everything on time and my apartment is so cozy. All in all I truly love it here and it made my first experience of having my own 1/1 apartment amazing because I had different fears. I truly recommend this place to everyone, dont trust the bad reviews, take a your and visit this place on your own.
New hear about a month in, no issues at all that were not resolved in a timely manner. The place overall is old but has character and charm. The space is a major plus a one bedroom for my son and I is working out well in our favor! People around are nice and not loud at all. No issues with neighbors or office people. Not sure why all the bad reviews my guess is ‘‘twas personal! Out come is much better then anticipated.
I lived here for two years let’s start off with the first lie i was told when I would first be moving In. Deacon told me that after we lived here for a year we would be able to re apply and get some of our deposit back as we would have been experienced renters or something or other found out a year later that was a lie. Oh and let’s not forget how petty they are about Christmas decorations or decorations really Diane has something against decorations something heavy especially because the lease doesn’t say you can’t decorate but I had letters on my door for that. I spoke with corporate who said there was nothing against said decorations to still receiving Letters on my doors about these decorations. phone calls because we were speaking on the phone too loud mind you in my apartment. That should tell you about the walls. Endless gnats in their drains but you’re called dirty. Random inspections from pest control!! since when does pest control inspect apartment and decide something I literally had dishes in the sink and the pest control guy saw me about to wash them.i can’t count the times I’ve called for maintenance to come for emergency situations where I’ve been ignored and I’ll call back and they have nothing for me in the system. Find a better place to call home because I despised coming home every night living here. Then because you complain to them to corporate you become the bad and when you decide to move out they will do nothing but give you bad rental reviews. screw these apartments screw Diana and screw Karen and screw deon.
Ive been living here for a month now. For the price youre paying, this place is pretty good! Im not a student, but I have a student budget. The rooms are a really good size. Yes, the kitchen is a little small, but everything works well and I can cook easily in it. The on-site laundry facilities use a card system, which is so much easier than quarters. The neighbors are quiet and the community is clean. The gym is small but it has equipment and mats which is all you need. Ive only been to 2 of the 3 pools but theyre clean and always open. I also love that packages get delivered to the office here. It makes ordering online so much safer. The rent doesnt go up every month, I dont know why people say that because thats actually illegal. The office staff is nice and caring. We did have a problem when we first moved in because the AC didnt work but they put a window unit in while we waited 3 days (it was the weekend and they waited on a part) and replaced the whole unit- it works perfectly now! If you have kids Im sure the apartment would be a bit small, but if youre just looking for some good apartments and saving some money, its great. Also, all the helicopters that come over here are going to Florida Hospital right by the complex.... not hunting for criminals.
I lived here with one of my best friends for 2 years. It was a pretty decent time overall, but had lots of problems with the pipes. However, maintenance always took care of it quickly. Some neighbors cars got broken into a few times, but I never dealt with anything like that. The only thing I regret was not taking enough care of the living room carpet, it costs a lot to fix.
I enjoy staying here, Karen,Diane and Dyon are very kind, attentive caring people.I never once had an issue here.I have been here over 4 years.I love my neighbors and if something breaks Maintenance gets right on it.Where Im at its quiet and peaceful. We all lookout for one another.
Now I see why the stars are so low. I walked in to inquire on 1 and 2 bedroom. Based on the pricing so I can determine which works.Deon in the office was not that helpful.I like to see a model so I can visually see the apartment. They had models available but he told me because he didn’t have a cart he could only show me one. He tried to show me a floor plan and that’s not why I came to view the property I wanted an actual tour. I walked out and went somewhere else.
Absolutely terrible place to live. Husband and I lived there for a little over a year and hated every second of it. Their office hours are awful and having a job means you can never get your packages. They turned the water off like a dozen times to fix problems with the pipes, then it took close to 2 weeks to replace our roof compared to the week they quoted us. People banging above us and singing on the top of their lungs at 7 am when they werent supposed to start until 8. Its in the ghetto so theres always cops in the complex. Never ever felt safe walking to get the mail. You can hear everything that goes on in your neighboring apartment. Dont even get me started about the employees that work there. Lazy, never do what theyre asked, and it takes weeks to get things fixed. They never have the air filter you need so you have to use the same one for months straight. They have repainted the apartments there many MANY times so whenever you close the cabinets it chips and gets stuck on the floor. You have to scrub it with your nails to get it off. The walls are so thin that your air will always be running and run up the electric bill. Rent is absolutely ridiculous and never the same! Over 800$ for a 1 bedroom garbage apartment? No thanks. I advise you to go any where else.
Do not move here. The apartment need constant maintenance. The ac floods. Bug and ant make their way through after several coats of raid spray (because they dont spray anymore) The road is ridiculous with pot holes after a year of promising to fix it, they redo the pool area instead. They let the sprinklers flood areas especially my front door. Submit maintenance request and barely ever saw them answer. They barely answer their phone. Always have to leave a message. Stupid strict relegations deeming whats acceptable in your patio or home. Will tow your car if it has a flat tire even if it happened that same day. Doesnt really work with you and your needs. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Yes they are cheap but theyre cheap for a reason.
I wish I could give this place a big fat 0. Let’s start with the office, Karen is just a very rude person. The other guy is okay but he lives in the complex so he’s usually “walking the property” and I usually see him with multiple people smoking the blunt while taking out trash or just picking up people. Office manager is okay. The laundry centers are filthy, ALWAYS. Just recently they did a “renovation” to the middle laundry center, they finished Friday and I guess forgot to clean it up cause is dusty everywhere, machines are full of dust, walls are nasty and 5 machines don’t work. I have pictures to prove all this. The landscape is okay but it can be better. Following what the other reviewer said about the water, yes is true, they turn that water off like twice every 2 weeks for repairs. It’s been happening now for over a year. I don’t think any other place does that, but this place clearly does. This is an open complex so anyone can just come in use the pools and all facilities. This whole place changed from middle class people who work during the day and come home during the night, to admitting anyone that stays at the front of the apartment smoking pot, some people working on multiple cars like is a mechanic place, kids running around unattended, lots and LOTS of dog poo everywhere. They take section 8 voucher so of course the people that gets an apartment here don’t care and instead is just messing everything up. Sometimes there teenagers in bicycles checking on cars, etc. The apartment itself is OLD. Old stove, refrigerator, counters, everything is just plain old and don’t care about it. The rent is almost ridiculous for the location 960$ for a 2/1. Water, trash, sewer is HELLA expensive compared to other complex, even the ones across from them are cheap. To finish this, I’ve been living here for around 3 years and I’m leaving this place after seeing how bad it has gotten here. They truly just don’t care. So I would advise to look at other options cause this place truly deserve to shut down for a while for renovation, starting with the office crew itself. If you want to live in a drug infested, filthy dirty place all with a hefty monthly rent price then this place is for you
If you move in there, dont expect to get your security deposit back. I wouldve given one star but I dont want to appear disgruntled based solely on my final experience with the mgt co. Im extremely fastidious and left the apartment in the same, if not better, condition than when I moved in. Place looked so good that I stupidly did not think to take post move-out pictures top prove it. They claimed my security deposit was used to pay to have the (spotless) apartment cleaned.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Recently I went to view the property for 2 bedrooms apt. At the time there were 3 other people looking for the same property. The apt was decent and I need one ASAP. Soon as i reached my home I send all the documents including my credit cards details to the agent email. He told me once all the documents were received, he will process the application. Two days later I didnt hear from him. Later I made a call to them and tried to speak to him. Unfortunately, he went to the vacation on the same day I view the property. ARE YOU SERIOUS? He didnt mention that he going on vacation and I told him I need the apt before my semester begins. So I need to resend all the documents to all other agent email and by that time the apt I was looking is gone. PEOPLE WHO WORK THEIR DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR CLIENTS. UNPROFESSIONAL !!!!
For parents and students: In my opinion, Ascot Place Management is only concerned about bilking a few hundred extra dollars out of unwitting student tenants when they leave. Cleaning deposits are in jeopardy regardless of cleanliness. Hidden fees are tacked on no matter what is paid; even if perfect compliance with the lease and payments is maintained. Beware!!!!! Have filed official complaints with state and county.
Ive been here for about four months and I love it. The reviews almost scared me out of it but Im glad I didnt listen. I dont have a bug problem and I have never had anyone walk into my apartment unannounced. The staff is friendly too :)
Ive lived here for 2 years and it was the worst. The pool is clean, but everything else us shitty as hell. Ive been having a bad roach infestation for almost a year now and its not being handled. They raise the rent so often but dont make any renovating what so ever. If you want to talk to office, you have to go there physically. They never answer their phone. The pet fee increases as often as the rent does. PLEASE save yourself the trouble and do not come here. The neighborhood is always loud and apartments have been broken into before. Its not worth it here.
Good news: very responsive to maintenance issues. Convenient to everything. Bad news: kitchen is dated, cramped, a bad joke. Rules are selectively enforced. Moody staff, sometimes extremely rude.
Worst place to live ever! Thankfully I just moved and after 5 years of living in a motel like place(Ascott), they are charging me almost 500 for cleaning and damages supposedly in the carpet. They are thiefs do not feed this people. They never had the gesture to say, hey you are renewing and rent is going up lets do one carpet cleaning or nothing. If I can give a -0 I would. The ceilings leak, my ac closet was always wet and the water would go under the carpet and this was a few times a year. I am disgusted by them. 8 always paid in time actually before due date, never had issues and always respected neighbors and the facility itself. Wow wow, this place needs to be closed.
DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF FIND ANOTHER PLACE!! ONLY COME HERE IF YOU LIKE DUCK FECES IN YOUR POOL WATER AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FEES FOR NO DARN REASON!! THE APARTMENTS ARE OLD THE WASHING MACHINES DO NOT WORK THE DRYERS BURN YOUR CLOTHES ITS AWFUL DO NOT DO IT!!
If your big on always having clean laundry, do not live here. Appartments dosent come with washer/dry units. They have laundry rooms but very poor service, machines either out of service or they steal your hard earn money. Ascott Place Apartments does nothing about it because the machines are independently owned by CSC ServiceWorks. These machines after taking your money, stop working, money down the drain, its like a scam. Its a 50/50 chance you will lose your money and time. Laundry trips are not always guaranteed to be successful. NO REFUND. Very sad living accommodation.
Looked into this place. Saw nothing on site rhat enamored me with this place. Talked with more than few residents. Not one had anything good about this place. Was invited into several units and they all had unadressed issues. One woman was visiting, had been a tenant previously, who was still waiting for deposits to be returned. Not one tenant anything good to say about the management.
Update: This is an edited review after almost 2 years living here. Full honesty. At the beginning we did have issues on move in day and maybe the first few months living there. Leaking fridge, badly stained carpet, pervy maintenance (no longer works here), renovation crew was still in my Apt move in day and left a mess after including marks and caulk everywhere (with unplugged oven), AC issues (the slot for the filter looks like a bad welding job and I have to force the filters in), they do have very old appliances that I HIGHLY recommend that they eventually change, cabinets drawers closet doors are much to be desired, and the laundry rooms suck (no units included in apartment). Also Id make sure to see the actual unit youre gonna move into. The model isnt a good reference besides size. FILL OUT YOUR CHECKLIST BEFORE MOVE IN!!!But with that being said, a lot of improvement has been made as well. Weve had ceiling fans installed, maintenance is now timely with the repairs and the emergency call lines have very courteous callers. Diana (property manager) has been very helpful when we needed more time for any fees that were owed from if any violations that were made (we took responsibility as far as pets and late rent) despite not seeing eye to eye at first. Toilets and showers have been changed for better use and appeal. Pipes are routinely checked on. No bugs at all. The apartments are actually a decent size for what we pay for (rent only increased by 15 when lease was renewed). Theyve been making a lot of efforts to bring the community together offering food and running events at the leasing office. I have seen less and less issues as far as disrespectful tenants and thieves. They cant know whats happening if noone says anything.Overall I would just cover your end when moving in and living in the units. But if you need a place to stay thats affordable, especially for students, this is a lot better than other places Ive lived in.
It was a cheap nice place to live at first then it took a month for them to fix my A/C unit an inside was showing 100 an i have 2 cats in the apartment, also my dads car got broken into my nahbors car got stolen they have also told my boyfriend that use to live there that they could flush anything down the toilet because it get backed up thats what someone from the leasing office told him an his ex. Then my spare bathroom my guest couldnt take a shower because it would leak to the neighbors downstairs and when maintenance showed up to fix it all they said was they would put caulking around the spare drain in the bathtub thats how they would fix the issue cops are always in and out of there constantly the place has turned into Section 8 housing so its gotten bad and instead of the complex worrying about theyre guests that live in this place they worry about redoing all three pools taken care of the leasing office and make it look nice repaving all the parking lot but not really trying to fix the inside of the apartment to make it look nice. When someone broke my back window the guy came put a board on it they didnt clean up the mess and i also had issue with the mail boxes they kept getting broken into leasing office told me it was up to the post office to fix it but thats wrong its the leasing office job i worked for post office so i know. SO I WILL NOT EVER SUGGEST TO LIVE THERE. And when they sent people in to redo the toilet in that shower head that they considered new Plumbing the people left my front door unlocked I came home to find out that it was unlocked. So unless you have NO CHOICE then dont move there. And if was able 2 I wouldnt give them any stars but apparently we have to give them at least one star and thats all theyre going to get from me.
Do not rent here. This is the worse apartments in all of Tampa. All appliances are old, the staff is terrible, maintenance men walk in without knocking, when you have an emergency maintenance situation he will call you and give you a sob story of how he can not make it out today and needs to come in the morning, the manager does nothing to help the tenants. They charge a pee fee but never have dog bags so tenants leave their dogs feces everywhere. I had to throw away 5 pairs of shoes from stepping in poop. There are cats that live in the courtyard and around the whole apartment complex who urinate and defecate all over the courtyard, your patio, and patio furniture. The tenants, or none tenants who live there do not care about their property. Weve seen stabbings, cars being stolen, matts being moved to look for a house key, people knocking on the back sliding glass in order to come in. Maxx properties is a terrible management company. They bully and steal. Moved here from New Jersey and read semi ok reviews but wish someone were honest. This is the worse place and the area is not the best. Do yourself a favor and do not even consider this place. Youll save yourself time, headache, and your property.
Never signed the lease at Ascott Place, but we submitted an application and paid the fees (security deposit, administration fee), which was accepted. We had been told that the apartments rent included water, sewer, and trash in the cost of rent. After paying them a couple hundred we were informed that the cost of those utilities was not included and were an additional cost at an average of 60$ to 80$.The Community Manager implied we were lying, as if we had successfully tricked them into taking our money. We decided not to sign the lease after they had already been lying to us and inflating the cost of rent.Dishonest business practices by management and sales. Beware.
Avoid this sh*thole by all means!!!!! I have had nothing but problems from day 1! The dishwasher broke on the first day followed with my bedroom flooding on Christmas eve... I left several messages on the emergency line and no one bothered to contact me until the next day. Then I had to deal with maintanance coming in and out of the apartment for two weeks to repair pipes and a shower floor they completely tore up. The apartment got flooded two more times after that incident. Just a couple months ago I woke up to sewage coming up through the drains of both showers and the toilets. If its not a plumbing issue needing repair its another thing as I had mentioned before this has been on going from the first day I moved in!!! They only show you the model not the apartment you will actually get. Then they had the nerve to raise the rent for supposed maintenance, if maintenance is what you call slapping a coat of paint over the rusted walls. This apartments are older then my grandma...no exaggeration... The office manager Diana is a complete rude ass b*tch that walks around with her nose stuck in the air. Shes basically there to collect a paycheck. My apartment was recently burglarized and Diana tried to tell me I left my door unlocked when I am 500% positive I locked it! They refused to send out a letter to inform neighbors of the incident basically trying to brush it under the rug...I made sure to make my on flyers to put out.....apparently it was the first a burglary ever happened which is bunch of BS! Some months ago someone threw a brick threw one of my neighbors back glass sliding door and burglarized her apartment as well. And a few months ago someone apparently took bolt cutters to all the locks on the resident storage units and had it not been because I went to go pull something out of my unit and found that my key no longer worked I would have never found out, when I went to the office to look further into it, it had been a week since the incident and the office bothered to notify no one of the incident!!!! Now I understand why my neighbors upstairs just packed up one day and disappeared and told the front office they were going on vacation but never returned.Do yourself and DO NOT rent here!!! Im literally counting down the days until my lease ends!!! Where is the negative stars button on this !!!??
DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE. Lived here for two years and it was awful. When I first moved in, the A/C unit didnt work for a month. Appliances are all old, and when they finally replaced the dishwasher they just replaced it with one they had in storage. Laundry facilities are always having issues, even though they just replaced all the machines. Roads all have pot holes and they just try to patch it and just gets worse. Maintenance workers dont speak english and the office workers constantly close the office for trainings and meetings, about 4 times a week to be exact. Neighbors also leave trash everywhere, are loud, and constantly make you in fear of your life. Even with all this, rent still goes up every time you release and the lady in charge in the office is rude about everything.
Visited there, you couldnt pay me to live there sewer backs up in bathroom tubs, ect they paint a pretty picture when you see the office and the pool, and thats it,well guess what under cover Boss in town.
Uhh.. I couldnt wait to move! Old broken down everything. Leak in shower that went under the floor to the carpets, leaky sinks, leaky a/c. Always had roaches, even after them spraying. (bait helped for a certain amount of time) Best thing about this place is the pool but thats about it..
Do not rent here they change the price everyday and the way they charge you for water is insane!!! You are very limited on what your allowed to do like not even allowed to use side walk chalk cant have your childrens bikes on the porach no grills no plants. The office has no compassion for their tentents and will not give you a break in any circumstances in any kind of way and are quick to charge you a few for what ever rule they want to make up that your not flowing. By far the worst place I have ever rented from.
Called multiple times to schedule an appointment and finally after two days ended up getting a call back a week ago. Scheduled an appointment for Wednesday and I called on Wednesday to make sure it was still on for 2 they said yes. I drove all the way over there getting there right at 2 to find the office was closed for lunch till 3. I was beyond aggravated because I literally called that same day to make sure I still had the appointment and wasted my time driving there. The lady I talked too seemed rude and as if she didn’t want to help me. This place seems very unprofessional and I can see why they have the ratings they do. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and their apartment complex looks dirty
Rented this apartment for my boyfriend and at first all great. Then two weeks later we both started getting bites out of nowhere. BED BUGS! BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS! Of course they blamed it on us, but the furniture that was ours sat in my moms house forever until it was moved out, my moms house would be infested as well too then, right?! And its not! Its not that hard to figure out. Sure they paid for the treatment, thank you. But we still lost of of money and most of our valuable belongings. Housekeeping goes in whenever they want and they do not let you know. Other apartments would definitely leave you a note a day before or more letting you know they will be coming in. They asked us what we wanted in return for the whole bed bug situation just to say they were gonna give us nothing in the end. Had to break the lease, had to leave. All in one month span. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE, its ridiculous.
When I first moved in I recommended this place to all of my college friends. After jut moving out after a year, I really wouldnt suggest this place to anyone. From the day I moved in my air conditioner did not work. Both me and my roomate put in at least 20 work orders throughout our lease, and only did they decide to fix it a month before we moved out. The place is dirty and filled with bugs. My dishwasher didnt work the whole time and we had to handwas everything (no big deal until our kitchen sink was constantly clogged and we literally could not was our dishes. front desk staff is friendly and somewhat helpful, but could be better at customer service (answering the phone, coming out in an emergency maintenance request). The saying you get what you pay for really applies to this apartment complex.
I moved to Ascott Place Apartments about 1 year ago and let me tell you... the reason I chose this complex is because of, customer service, better prices, and location. The leasing office staff (Karen, Daniela, Jamisha, and Diana) are super nice, very helpful, and knowledgeable. The clubhouse is amazing with these huge windows overlooking the pool. Yes, we have three pools. Also, their maintenance team is great, especially Frank and Isas. Neighborhood is quiet and safe. I’ve never had issues with noise or anything (other than during the construction). I like that it’s close to USF. To include, Ascott Place is in transitioning of renovating and beautifying their apartments inside and out. With that said, I have no complaints and my apartment is beautiful.
Unfortunately i did not see the reviews before I rented here. Biggest problem I moved here from Orlando and did not know the area. yes the complex is quiet and safe. but when I called I asked about a 2 bed 2 bath with washer and dryer. I did not ahve a lot of time to find a place so when they said they had one i came right over. When I got there I found out that unit was not going to be ready for over a month. Not knowing the area, I tried to find another place but did not have time.We my lease will end soon also. I am looking forweard to getting out of here. I have had plumbing problems and other issues that no one seems to want to address. I hope I can make it nice enough for them when I move out. I keep my place clean, but an old place like this, the bugs are horrible.be warned, find a better place to stay.
Ive lived here for over twenty years (since 1994) and just want to say Ive never experienced any of the behaviors posted on this site (yeah, thats the truth, Im a real person living here and writing this). Its a really nice place to live here. I also have to mention that after this number of years having received consistently prompt help and professional, friendly assistance isnt luck or a one-off experience. Its obviously a result of the hardworking people in our office who stay late and make sure things are covered here - thats impressive. I know they stay late on our behalf because Ive come home from work and have seen them still working afterhours. I know its for the tenants. Diana, the Manager, has headed the recent large landscaping additions, as well as the large painting project which previous management companies had not ever bothered to do for the community. Thats quite an undertaking for a complex of this size to figure out the work that was needed, then working to gather the funding for it and coordinating the phases - in addition to keeping all of the regular complex responsibilities going. Impressive again. This didnt benefit the people in the office, their homes are offsite. All this work was done to give a facelift to our community - which was a huge and beautiful change. Karen, the Assistant Manager, has gone out of her way, because thats the kind of human being she is, to help tenants with their maintenance requests, to see that things get done. Ive seen her cheerfully and resourcefully go out of her way to help tenants resolve issues. Youll also love Jameisha and Danielle. They work on the weekends - theyre intelligent, hard working and an absolute treat to talk with. You couldnt ask for a better set of people to have in your apartment office - honestly. Were lucky here. You should come and see for yourself. Its a funny thing, if you treat other people with respect, you get respect back from others.
Let me save you some trouble; DO NOT RENT HERE!!! This is by far the worst place to rent in the area. There are many better options not quite as bad. My gf and I moved here on a whim because I was going to USF and it was close. BIG MISTAKE! First, the places are old. Like really old. Our AC unit was from the 80s and blew dust when it started up. Sounded like a 57 Chevy with a blown gasket. When we moved in there had been shoddy repairs to the bedroom door and a sliding glass door, looked like it had been kicked in. (stay tuned this comes into play later) And our neighbor had 4 little kids who roamed the grounds while she had a revolving door of men in and out on a nightly basis (yea, true story). Neighbors across the way sold drugs. I know because they frequently let me know I got whateva u need homie. Also, it was a frequent occurrence to see helicopters fly around with searchlights (also true story)... I would not let my gf take the dog for a walk alone... Anyway, we broke our lease to leave after 6 months of regret, paid what we needed to (like 3 mos rent I believe) signed the papers, they told me all was well, and we moved out. That was it right? NO, 1 year later I get calls from debt collectors wanting $1200 for repairs to the place, specifically a sliding glass door and bedroom door. Yep. The cheapskates charged me for it and never notified the forwarding address I set up. Went to collections and dinged my credit before I even knew what was happening. I had to get a lawyer to revers the credit issue and send a cease a desist to the collector. To this day I still get calls about once a month. Renting here was worse than getting and STD.
By far THE WORST STAFF imaginable. They are stuck up, rude, disrespectful women. AVOID THIS COMPLEX BY ALL COSTS! Built in the 1960s and nothing renovated WHAT SO EVER. Horrible paint job! My bathroom door hits my toilet when I attempt to close it. The maintenance staff speaks no English and i have been walked in on while getting in shower....AFTER my doorbell was rang atleast 7 times and door pounded on 15. No exaggeration. Mold in the air conditioning. My breaker was FRIED about a week ago. Burnt to a crisp! The original. Go figure. Wait? Arent those suppose to be inspected? Hm. All of my outlets upon moving in were loose. Everything fell out! My Windows cannot stay open without a prop. The carpet is the cheapest one you can buy at Home Depot. ALONG WITH THE VERTICAL BLINDS. So cheap. The whole place is about fix it up rather than repair. Several maintence staff have said this to myself and other residents AS WELL! THE PAINT ON THE WALLS: FLAT PAINT. Therefore, as you know, it looks horrible and any marking or scuff stays forever. Disgusting. My apartment didnt come with a screen for my slider. Had to request one and was treated as a burden, as always. They will tow your car without warning if not In, what they consider, the proper placement. Leaks, like you wouldnt believe. The appliances are also originals. My stove connectors were so burnt and black when I moved in.... maintenance informed me that one more use could have set me into flames. What else ? Oh my cabinet got caught on a salt shaker when I swung it closed......snapped right off the wood and hinges. (My fault apparently). Diana, the Manager will acknowledge how old the wood and property is but still find a way to blame you. Jameisha, Daniela, Karen, and Diana are the most unprofessional, RUDE, uncaring individuals and their boss in the corporate office in New York, Michelle Bravo Brown, should be utterly embarrassed and dissapointed.I received a lease violation for having my trash outside as I was getting ready to take it out shortly. Being that this place has a horrible sugar ant problem In the summer, i would not keep it inside! One half full trash bag. So. I called their lawyers in Miami. That Diana also cannot do anything, or make any simple moves without consulting their opinions first....AND WOULDNT YOU KNOW IT. LOUIS, AND THE OTHER INDIVIDUALS at that office were also rude. Laughing, snickering, telling me to SHHHH. and that I was hung up on because I continued to speak. LET ME EXPLAIN, WHEN YOU HAVE A BABY AND ARE PREGNANT AND PAY $750 A MONTH FOR YOUR RENT AND OTHER BOGUS UNEXPECTED ADD-ONS, YOUR GOING TO BE UPSET! HOWEVER!!! I WORK AND HAVE ALWAYS WORKED IN HOSPITALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND I FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO BE NICE AND TOLERANT WITH THESE SCUMBAGSWATCH ME GET EVICTED NOW;)ILL CHECK IN.THANKS FOR READING. ALL IS 100% TOO. I PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO GOOGLE REVIEWS. I HOPE I SAVED SOMEBODY SOME TROUBLE.
Old unrennovated apartments, high crime level area, poor use of rent and dues paid by tenants. Clubhouse of course looks awesome [conveniently]. They have increased rent on us for the past 3 years and we will not be renewing this time around, cant wait to get out of this place. Just put in our 60 day notice, will feel great to get out of here. Now they are taking rent dues to fix up the tennis courts, when NO ONE uses the tennis courts. Wouldnt it be a better idea to fix up these old run down apartments we have? Also we are paying an average of 15 dollars a month each for trash service when the dumpster right outside is overflowing with trash, if management saw a tenant with a bunch of trash we would be quick to get a notice on our doors of a lease violation, but God forbid one of them calls the trash company and pays for an extra pickup this week so that this community doesnt look even worse
Advertisement, great liars. The rent rises without warning like buying an upscale condo in Hollywood. The apartments are just patch work, carpet stains, the walls are stained, no fresh paint. They say they spray for bugs, but you never smell bug spray anywhere, maybe thats why KINGSIZED-ROACHES greet you in the morning for breakfast@ the kitchen stove and @night, bedside on the wall when your reaching for your glass of water, for a midnite drink. Not to mention the BABY-ROACHES in the showers more than willing to wash your back for you.. I came from out of town, up north and was not expecting this from the phone call I had with the ladies@ the office, total liars.. Last, but not least, after the 3rd of the month they tax on an additional $75 to your ever increasing rent, plus $10 every additional day your late with rent... We put poor and D grade star to Ascott Apts in Tampa, FL. The Ascott Apts are cheaters...........................to the public and stealing money..........DDDDDDDDD grade. We had very bad experienced with Ascott Apts every time need to fix always saying same lines that “Our apts are 30 years old means very old that’s why we couldn’t do anything much”.They shows us cheap rate first then once you entered then immediately they will increase the prices, I would say if you put additional $100 more, you will get very nice and good space another apts in front road and nearby.I lived and found did big mistake for the lease, all appliances are very old from my grandfather time and broken refrigerator, cooking oven we requested many times to change but no one will listen you, just saying until unless it is working it’s good. If you have to call 10 times then only 1 time they will attend you. They will sign on 200 legal papers with all initials and all have 100’s of rule regulation and once you’ve done then that’s you are gone for the lease. When your time to leave they will charge you long list of points, too much cleaning cost even though you had cleaned, the carpet not that much clean, you drew some lines on wall here is not good there is not good, utility charges means it is big list and you are gone for at least next rent of cost which you have to pay because you had signed in documents, if you would try to dispute then they will harm your credit history because they knew they will get it the money from you anyhow. They have all tools which they can play with you and kick you.In the Ascott community have 2 types of partition first partition community inside too dirty, many times sewage leaking problem, all dirty stinky flooding water on the road. Many apts are closed nearby because those apts ages are gone, and garbage container is too far to put weekly garbage. Only Ascott office is new built and clean but if you look inside apt you will find so much trouble every day. All management people are very smart to handle new customers they won’t tell real problems everything is painted and painted. Please, we would say please be careful about this Ascott Apts else it’s up to you...but do not recommended which got awful experienced.
The apartments are amazing
