Trena has been styling my familys hair for 25 years. She is very talented and knowledgeable.

Love this place! My grandson is autistic and has a really difficult time with haircuts and touch in general, but Rebecca at Awaken514 has been super patient with him which has helped him get his first haircut without a total disaster breakdown and he has now had 2 hair cuts in 3 months and has done great! Definitely a wonderful place for us and they also do wonderful cuts and color for our entire family!

Came in for a consultation with Becca she did not listen to me when I told her I wanted to get extensions and I wanted to make sure that I would be able to afford maintaining them. Cost was a huge factor for me. She pressured me to get extensions she recommended. Told me she would see if they were in stock and then call me. She called me the following Monday and I asked her the price she said $350 for the hair and $340 for the installation. When I came in for the consultation she had me sign a blank form. Something I should have never done. After she installed my extensions I went to the register to pay. Mind you I had already paid her the $350 she says that will be $825 I was shocked. She had me in front of the receptionist and kept making me feel uncomfortable all the while changing the price until finally I was able to pay what she told me. Then I asked her how much it would be when I came back she said I charge $80 a weft to tighten them and you have a pack of hair 8 wefts. So that’s $480 a month! I spoke to the actual company and they said that price is nowhere what they recommend their stylists to charge and they are not high end extension. They are made for the average woman and are meant to be affordable. Well needless to say I have called and asked for the owner to call me and no one has ever given her the message and Becca won’t budge on her price. So my daughter had to rip out the extensions. $500 a month is not affordable and I basically throw $700 in the trash thanks to this terrible salon.

Kristen is the best hair stylist I have ever had. She really listens to what you want and makes me beautiful every time. The shop has a new look that is gorgeous with lots of different services for both men and women. If you can dream it they can do it at this cutting edge salon. Went in for a new look. Was not disappointed. Never have had a bad experience here.

Amazing full service salon!

First, the smell in there was ungodly. Literally smelled like I just walked into a manure factory. The smell was so bad my eyes watered and I was gagging in my mouth. Second, they did not follow ANY COVID PROCEDURES. No one was wearing a mask, ESPECIALLY THE OWNER Trena Giddens. When I expressed my concerns with Trena, she was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Instead of putting on a mask, she looked me up and down and judged my outfit. I would give -1000000 stars if I could. DO NOT COME HERE.

Love this place-staff is super friendly, location is super clean. Valerie is the best at taking care of my curly cuts, wash etc. Thank you awaken for always providing a great experience!

If I were reviewing just my hair cut & stylist, this would be 5 stars. Rebecca was great, and I love my cut. Unfortunately their COVID protocols were not followed by most during my visit, making it clear that not all of their employees prioritize the health and safety of their clients. Despite their assurances before my appointment that everyone would be masked and distanced, the receptionist on duty never wore (or even seemed to have) a mask, even when directly interacting with me. The client who was leaving when I arrived and her stylist both had their masks under their chins. Only my own stylist (& myself) consistently wore a mask while I was there, which is disappointing and very concerning to me. And therefore I will not be returning. As someone who works 10 hour shifts in a mask the entire time, I can attest personally to the fact that it can be done, if everyone just cares enough to do these simple things for everyone’s safety.

Valerie did a wonderful job with my hair and everyone was super friendly, so this review is absolutely no hate to them. They very persistently pressured me to purchase Devacurl products that had a huge lawsuit due to thousands of women’s hair falling out, which I did not know. They didn’t provide me adequate information about the (expensive to me, I’m a college student) Devacurl scandal and brushed it off as only a couple women having a bad reaction to it. After I got home and did some research and the brand contains a chemical— diazolidinyl urea— that apparently can act as a relaxer when exposed to heat, and found a forum where thousands of women were having irreversible hair loss and curl damage. They wouldn’t let me return the unused products and only offered me an exchange for a different product that they wanted to charge more money for. I wish the salon was more upfront about what they were selling and the return policy, now I just have expensive shampoo and conditioner that I’m too scared to put on my hair.

I had a wonderful experience! I asked for a blonde balayage and I was 100% happy with the results. Rebecca did amazing ❤️

For the first time in my life, I agreed to book a follow up appointment. Valerie and her Associate - Katherine (Catherine?) - were awesome, knowledgeable, down to earth, and complimented each other well. The salon was clean, lovely, and well maintained. The prices are competitive with almost any other salon in the area, but the atmosphere is much more welcoming. I’m so glad to have found this place, highly recommend.

My daughter had the best curly cut experience today at Awaken514, Chelsea took such great care of her. My daughter was very nervous and she took her time to ease her fears and gave her the best cut and then revitalized her curls for the first time ever! She also spent time to explain how to repeat the process at home. She is amazing as well as the whole staff. Everyone as well as ourselves felt so comfortable we all just started chatting. Honestly the best salon experience Ive ever had, will never go anywhere else.

Just want to say THANK YOU very much for letting me wait inside your shop when my little green truck broke down this week. Your staff was awesome. They offered me waters, let me and my son wait inside your shop for the tow truck (it was very hot outside). Just super friendly. That was super nice of you guys. Thanks again!!

I drove 1.40 hrs to come to this salon and I was not disappointed. I was nervous to get a cut but Rebecca did such a great job with my deva cut!!Rebecca was very educational on how to take care of my curls. I would recommend and I will be going back! Everyone was very nice.

I love, love, LOVE this salon! Kind, down to earth, staff who are easy to talk to and make you feel like a queen bee. My hair stylist listened well and delivered exactly what I wanted and more. She transformed my frizzy tangles into luscious, hydrated curls and walked me through step by step instructions in how to treat and style them. Im never going anywhere else!

Great place to get your haircut. Everyone is very professional. Make sure you have an appointment as they are very busy. The good part is they are always on time. Call them couple of weeks ahead and you are all set. This place is easy to find also.

The three stylists Ive worked with have given me exactly what I have asked for, and were warm and easy to talk with while they worked. I have not tried their spa pedicure/manicure since the remodel, but will be coming back to do so. I would probably give a higher rating if I had tried all the services they provide.

Great service and outstanding work. I went in for a Deva Curl cut and took off more than 6 inches. I love it! I used to travel to Orlando to get my haircuts. Im so happy that they provide the services Im used to. I recommend Awaken514 to all curly haired women. They will take great care of you.

I’ve never reviewed any establishments before but I had to after my amazing hair cut. I’ve always had trouble with my curly hair so I researched and decided to get a deva cut. My hair was down to my butt because I hadn’t gotten it cut in so long because I was afraid of it getting butchered again.But Shauna listened to what I told her I felt I needed and did everything perfectly. She was so polite and professional as were the rest of the staff.My hair was curlier and had more volume before the session was even done. I highly recommend and will be returning!

The only place Id get a haircut at! Erin did my devacut a while back and its time for another. I have 3c super thick hair. I usually get charged extra for length and volume, at any other establishment.

Kristen did a devacut for me, and did a fantastic job. I was nervous because I have African American natural hair, but she knows her technique well. She cut only what was needed and didnt just chop away with an itll grow back attitude you get with some stylists. I did not come out with the type of curl definition I prefer, but my hair came out looking and feeling healthy, and smelling amazing...like I want to rinse my hair and put defining products in for the look, but I dont want the smell to go away so Ill wait on styling type of amazing.Kristen is great! She is a 5 star stylist, and the shop is very pretty.The 4 stars on the review are because the website stated one price for a cut, when I called to make the appointment I was quoted an extra $10 and when I checked out I was charged $5 above that $10. I just hope they added that $15 extra they charged me to my tip for her.

I was extremely excited to see that we had DevaGirl Certified hairdressers in Tallahassee. Ive done a lot of research about the Deva cut and watched a lot of youtube videos. Ive struggled with curly hair all my life. I never seemed to find someone who could understand my hair. And to see that someone can get trained in cutting curly hair got me super excited.I made an appointment with Chelsea. The salon was really clean and up to date and very comfortable. Chelsea asked me questions about my hair and seemed very genuine about my hair and the struggle of having curly hair. I could tell you a ton of stories.I asked her to please not take really any length off, just a small trim. But to please shape my hair. She talked to me and gave me tips and pointers. After she was done cutting, she washed and conditioned my hair. And told me about the products she used and how to use them. Then she sat me under a dryer for about 20 minutes and let my hair dry and then she finished styling it. My curls never looked so defined and beautiful. And I truly believe that Deva is a great brand.The main thing I didnt like was.... I felt as if the deva products were in a way being pushed on me. I mentioned I used products like Shea Moisture, Maui Moisture, Not Your Mothers and I was told to not mix any of these products with Deva. Im in school and I work. It is really hard to afford the price that Deva wants to charge for their products. And that isnt the salons fault, nor the hairdresser. But to be more understanding that I dont want to go broke buying hair products that are $30+ a bottle would be nice. Also, as nice as it is to see what my hair could look like with a lot of product in it and blow dried etc... It would be nice if the hairdresser could style your hair the way you would every day, that way you can see what it would truly look like before you walk out of the salon. I had about 6+ products in my hair as well as having it blow dried. And I usually just put in some leave in conditioner and Jamaican Castor Oil and walk out the door. (Just a suggestion)I did make a follow up in 3 months, but Im the type to get a hair cut once a year. I am going to keep my appointment and just see how much my hair has grown the closer the appointment comes up. I take very good care of my hair and use only products that do not have sulfate, silicone, etc. And I never put heat on my hair.Lastly, I do love my hair. I love the cut and the way it falls. Even with the products I normally use, it looks beautiful and I am truly very happy. I wont be going anywhere else for a haircut.

I would rate my experience at Impressions a minus 5 if possible. Worst experience I have ever had at a hair salon. I had to go to another salon for damage control and have spent close to $1000.00 to remove the green/red color they made my hair. I could not get the owner to call be back even after calling and sending a letter. If you value your hair I would go elsewhere. I would definately not recommend this place to anyone.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. The worst haircut ever by Kristin Dariotis-Clift and then THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER by the owner Trena Giddens. Kristin messed up my hair so bad (i even went back once to have her fix it and she was preoccupied by her boyfriend) that I had to leave their salon and drive to another one to have them fix it. My mid-back hair that just needed shape ended up over my shoulders. AND I HAVE CURLY HAIR. I called the salon a few times for a refund on my hair and Trena has never once taken my call called me back. I also reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Do not go here. They do not care about their clients. Kristin Dariotis-Clift is not good at doing curly hair. I dont know how she got Deva Certified.
