She is a wonderful person that listens and has a great way of getting things off your mind. It is great to do tactile things other than talking including reading and breathing that can get your mind relaxed by those if us with anxiety and trouble concentrating. Imhi she is a great therapist!
I tried multiple times to have a helpful experience with her - never happened. She never could remember my name, no matter how many times I politely corrected her. And at the start of every visit she couldn’t remember who I was or what we talked about - she would slowly remember after making me repeat all the painful things I had already told her - but even then she still didn’t really remember me or truly care. I tried three visits with her and nothing changed. It was beyond frustrating and made me feel like she didn’t care nor was listening to anything I was saying. What’s the point of seeing a therapist for help, when they can’t even be bothered to remember your actual first name?! I later on confronted her about this issue (after she went radio silence for months - which she had told me after the last visit she was going to reach out for a follow up appointment) when she FINALLY contacted me after my doctor requested an evaluation letter - which I had been told by Rita I would be getting after my second visit. She accused me of lying, saying we only had one visit - which is hilarious because she billed my insurance company three times. So tell me how we could have only had 1 visit if you were still charging me for more?! Yeah, I don’t think so.Personally I would seek help elsewhere. Unless you like coloring circles (yeah..)having your therapist spend more time talking about themselves, and on top of it all not even be bothered to write down anything you talked about - have at it.
This is the most serious, heartfelt and sincere review I can present. I strongly encourage anyone suffering to learn and become savvy about their specific pain with independent research before entrusting their care to someone else. There is so much free, therapeutic, peer-reviewed and up to date information out their beyond the constraints of expensive office visits. One can control the expense, intensity and style much more wisely with adequate foreknowledge. A good start would be to learn the difference between stress and trauma, and ask oneself if paying to draw pictures and meditate is truly the solution. It is much more empowering and fulfilling to find the right care and give healthy practice time to work.
Rita wasnt a good fit for me as a therapist, but that doesnt mean she wouldnt be for someone else. I just wasnt interested in doing breathing exercises and drawing pictures. But Im writing this review to warn people that she may be overcharging them. When I went, she told me that my copay with Capital Health Plan is $40 (the amount that my card says next to specialist). When I went to a different therapist, my copay was $20, and I was told that is the copay for everyone with CHP. Four months later, I received the breakdown of benefits from my insurance from my session with Rita, and sure enough, my copay was supposed to be $20, not $40. I write this because she clearly takes her time to bill the insurance company, and I dont want anyone to go that long being charged double what they are supposed to. Do your research going in so you know exactly what you are supposed to pay. Cost is already such a barrier to therapy for many people, and she should do better to ensure she isnt making it worse.
Absolutely the best. Im so glad that I went to her.
Ive had one appointment with Rita and left feeling unfulfilled. Im going to stick to the program and give it another shot and will update this review accordingly.
