I trained here for 1 month. Fantastic jiu-jitsu environment for beginners or advanced students. Kyle, Nick and the rest of the instructors have created a welcoming atmosphere that fosters learning and growth for their students. Highly recommended!
Humble academy with a solid group of individuals of all skill levels. This is a welcoming environment for beginners and advanced individuals.Plus there isnt just jiu jitsu, but kick boxing as well. This is an MMA gym because there is diversity in what is taught.I really look forward to continuing to train here.
The place to be credible coachs and family atmosphere
Clean facility, great staff and instructors!
Great vibes! Instructor Jimmy was awesome taking the time to make sure everyone was training correctly. Everyone was like an open book, willing to learn and teach. Looking forward to coming back
***MUST TRY***If your thinking about trying out Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai you have to check this place out!!! The owner and coaches are great! The facility is awesome! And there is a wide range of experience levels from beginners to experts. It is So inexpensive for the intro classes, you will get a great work out and learn some good moves that could help you in real life.
Great gym all around very fun and competitive place to train
Excellent Academy. I recommend everyone check out at least 2-3 different gyms to get a feel for what you like and don’t like about the place. Signing up at a gym / martial arts academy is a big financial commitment but also your time and livelihood. That being said MABJJ fife has high quality instructors and great atmosphere. Full of all skill levels and body types which makes for great training.
Great place with even better people!✌😎🤙
They run an excellent Jiu-Jitsu program with great instructors and a friendly training environment. I highly recommend this martial arts school!
The best!
This place is great! They have been very welcoming to me with no experience at all. The coaches and owners are involved, invested, and want to see everyone succeed in their own way.
They keep charging me money for membership even though they’re not open. Scumbag business.
The best thing in Tacoma
This is a great martial arts academy. The gym is spacious which is not always easy to find for BJJ. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and have a great way about coaching. The Muay Thai program looks really good!I like that there are separate changing areas! This is definitely the place to be for martial arts in the fife / tacoma area.I didn’t know a lot about jiujitsu before finding out about this place. MABJJ Tacoma isn’t intimidating, the instructors are welcoming and give good instruction. Another selling point for me is that they have classes for all skill levels, from kids to beginners (fundamentals) to advanced (adults) so there’s a spot for everyone. I’m looking forward to attending a women’s self defense class in the future.
Ive been training Muay Thai here for a little over a year now and can honestly say that coming here was one of the best decisions of my life. The people here are a team and a family. You wont find a place that will take better care of you and help you grow like this team will. No matter your skill level, this is the place you should check out- You wont regret it!
Juan the Muay Thai trainer is a good trainer but a little smelly
My kids and I starting going here five months ago. They do Muay Thai and I do Muay Thai and BJJ. The Muay Thai instructor, Master Saohin is the best at what he does ( he’s a champion fighter from Thailand) and has been such a great influence on my children. They love Muay Thai and being around Master Saohin, as do I. On the BJJ side it’s like a big family. The coaches in the fundamentals and advanced classes are amazing, they will help you step by step and spend time individually with the students to make sure they’re understanding the techniques. My teammates are always positive and helpful. Shawn, Kyle, Bladden and Jerry are the best coaches I’ve had. I can’t say enough good things about MABJJ Fife.
Started here about a month ago after procrastinating starting BJJ for the last 15 years and Im glad I choose this gym. The coaches are patient, the gym is CLEAN and other students, from the most experienced to new comers like me, all help each other to get better. I would highly recommend MABJJ-Tacoma to anyone who is wants to learn or is even just curious. You wont regret it.
I came in during their posted normal business hours online in order to speak to someone about their BJJ program. This is a clean facility, with a good amount of training space, although there is almost nowhere for people to wait. When I came in, there was a childrens Muay Thai class being taught by what appeared to be a single instructor, but other than the lone instructor, the children, and their parents, no one else appeared be at the gym. I asked one of the parents nearby if they knew who to talk to about BJJ, and they didnt know. I didnt want to interrupt the instructor teaching the children, so I just waited for a few minutes for one of the BJJ instructors to show up. After 5 minutes I just decided to leave rather than risk being called a perv for standing in on a childrens class for seemingly no reason. I had high hopes for this place after reading the other glowing reviews.2 stars for having a good, clean facility, but poor customer service (granted, maybe I just came at a bad time, I didnt call or email first, I just wanted to walk in and see the place for myself and talk face-to-face with someone). If I try this gym again and have a better experience I will change my review.
My body was in a bad shape and to make things worse, none of the gym was in my budget. This is when I heard about this gym from my colleague so I decided to go to them. The trainers did a remarkable job and now I am a regular member of this gym.
Great instruction and a family atmosphere!
I chose to begin training here after engaging in multiple trial classes here and at other local gyms. Ive only been here one month, but In my opinion this gym has the best instructors in the area, and a level of comradery amongst the students that seems unmatched to the other gyms Ive been in. Master Saohin, the muay thai instructor has an impressive professional record and has trained many pro fighters such as urijah faber. Just about all of the bjj instructors have earned their black and brown belts from Professor Marcelo Alonzo, who trained side by side with the Gracie family and the Machado family. Its a clean and welcoming gym, Its as legitimate as it can get, and everytime I leave here Im left wanting more because everyone here is just too dang cool to be around.
Ive trained at a few different bjj schools in the tacoma area and this is by far my favorite. They offered wrestling, bjj, and judo. Plus Muy Thai instruction by a 4x Pan asain boxing champion. Youll get in shape, and improve your martial arts skills. I love this place and recommend it to anyone looking to train in the Tacoma area.
I found my place in this gym online after researching Master Saohins personal teaching reputation combined with world champion credentials. I enrolled in Muay Thai classes after other kickboxing style attempts (including disco stripmall style) due to its tenacious, traceable, and vibrant tradition, growing steadily in this country as well as its familiar role in the standup component of MMA.I am fascinated by how it draws in people of every background and goal: whether it is international pro, amateur ring community (robust in this region), or solid-to-the-core fitness and fellowship a league apart from the Crossflirt club scene.Master Saohin and the experienced members of the gym always seem to know exactly the small adjustments to ones form that will bring the full satisfaction of a new skill. The learning never ends and the feeling is one of sustained focus and success. I would recommend this gym strongly to any person of any gender who wants to believe there must be something more to kickboxing- There is in Tacoma, WA: the safety-conscious, professionally coached, authentic Art of Eight Limbs.
Very kind, patient people - students and masters. Ive only done the Muay Thai classes, and theyre excellent for learning self-defense/fighting and theyre fantastic workouts. Master Saohin is freaking legit; he fought internationally for a couple of decades before he started teaching, and he knows Muay Thai inside and out. All in all Im in love with this place!
I visited a few times and it is a nice training facility.
Great instructors for all ages.
