Professor Galo and his students in Tacoma are simply amazing. I often train with Professor Galo in Seattle, but there is nothing like seeing him interact with his hometown students in Tacoma. The space is open and inviting for students of all ages and abilities. Tacoma Capoeira Center is a great place to train, grow, and fellowship!Fed Brooks

This academy, run by Mestre Manganga (Syed Taqi), is an awesome studio where the history of capoeira is appreciated and taught via music, language, history and gatherings with his team of teachers. My students travelled to visit before and were elated at the great teachings by their distant relatives. Capoeira brings families together. I cant wait to visit again.

Tacoma Capoeira Center is my familys home away from home. Not only is the training welcoming to all levels of fitness and experience, it is challenging as well. It trains confidence, culture, music, strength and agility, awareness, strategy. Most of all, Tacoma Capoeira Center is a community of friends, eager to welcome new people and share in the awesome experience of Capoeira.

If your looking for a great community and a place to have fun and train, this is it. I started Capoeira last year and not only is it a physical learning experience but also a cultural and historical one as well. Learning instruments, songs the history behind them and the art it’s self is just another added onto the experience.

What an amazing space! Omari is a great teacher that makes you feel relaxed as a newbie. Capoeira will kick your butt. I took the wednesday class, and feel the effects days later. This form of fitness/ dance will strengthen your legs and arms. Be prepared for a lot of handstands and bring plenty of water. Like I said its a workout. Enjoy!

Omari is probably the most genuine person I know. He treats everyone with so much care and respect. Hes my daughters favourite capoeira teacher. We travel to Tacoma from Seattle every week just so she can train with him. The community in Tacoma should feel blessed knowing they have a leader like Omari representing Capoeira Angola.

Nothing but good things to say about this group. I visted a few times and learned so much about South American culture. The music is rich and creates a sense of community. The group welcomed me and encouraged me each time I came to play. I definitely would recommend this group to anyone visiting or looking for capoeira instruction. They have many different levels of player, a diverse community and even early morning hours.

Since me and my son started training at the Tacoma capoeria center I have had the pleasure as a father to watch my son get stronger. While he enjoys every class he takes and looks forward to training. I myself have seen growth in strength I too enjoy every class . Both of us really enjoy the instructors and the instruction that is given. The teacher is always pushing us to be better and stronger in capoeria but overall pushing us to be a better person.. so all in all I really love the classes and the people that I get to train with.. Thanks

I hesitate to put my sentimental thoughts in this google review forum, but it feels important in this case ...Reflecting yesterday on capoeira and the last almost year of training for me, I was stricken with gratitude and amazement. The quality of teachers in the Washington Capoeira Center - Mestre Mangangá, our Professores (Professor Galo who holds down classes here in Tacoma!), our Instrutores, and senior students, all hold this group to an unmatchable standard - and the quality of the teachings, consciously, culturally rooted with an eye for what they mean for people as individuals - is almost beyond comprehension. It definitely facilitates the growth of great capoeiristas, is a big reason why this is such a beautiful community, and certainly feels like it makes it easier to face the world with grace. For me it’s easy to take for granted but I just wanted to see it and recognize it for my own sake and anyone considering this place. There is something special happening here and I’m glad to be a part of it and take refuge in this community. Thanks to everyone in here. Axé a todos.

Profesor Galo balances listening to his students coming from a wide spectrum of experiences in Capoiera with pushing one to grow as a person. I train primarily in the Seattle Capoiera Center but make sure to make it at least once a month so that I can participate in the vibrant Capoiera community that is being built in Tacoma. See you all at the next roda!
