My son enjoys going to Sylvan! At first he was hesitant because he thought it was going to feel like school - Definitely made progress this Summer and said it was FUN for him! Wonderful Staff!!! Gail, Valerie, and their tutors go above and beyond to work with our busy schedules.

Remote learning is not for everyone, my grandkids arent getting what they need to be successful students. They started Sylvan a month ago, just went over their first progress reports. WOW what a difference and they love it too! I am so pleased and less stressed about school starting in September and them starting behind.

My daughter has been going to Sylvan now for several months and it has been wonderful to see her additional development thanks to the Sylvan team! They started with some basics but they have been receptive about taking her report card from school and adapting her lessons so they are tackling her weakest spots. And talk about patient! They are very patient with all the kids they work with and take the time needed to ensure each child is learning at their own pace.

Enrolled my 2nd grade daughter in June 2020 after struggling with managing virtual learning for the last half of the school year. The Sylvan Center was able to identify her learning gaps, develop a learning plan to help close the gaps. Now we are 3/4 of the way through the summer and she has made significant progress in closing the identified gaps. The work that the teachers/educators is wonderful,; they truly know how to get kids to engage with their learning. Enrolling her at Sylvan was the best decision I have ever made.

My 10 year old says, I like how nice they are to me! He truly enjoys going to Sylvan for an hour each day. He leaves each session feeling confident and happy.

Had our daughters first Sylvan review just a few short weeks ago - shes mastered so many stills already.. Her S1 report card was sent home last week. Although she is still below grade level in reading her WPM fluency have increased from 28 to 55 and accuracy from 80 to 95. We couldnt be happier. My daughter struggles with inattentive ADD and quickly got behind in school. Thanks to Sylvan, my daughter went from one half of a grade level behind to above grade level within her first 7 months of 3 hours/week tutoring. We keep her at Sylvan now to help maintain good grades and keep her confidence level up. They also help with her homework so we don’t have to struggle with it at home. My 2nd grader struggles with reading. There were days I’d pick him up and he would tearfully tell me what a hard time he was having. Since we’ve signed him up for Sylvan he is more excited about learning and has doing well. When he has a bad day he asks if he’s going to Sylvan– “because Miss Lydia makes everything better”. Sylvan has made learning fun and simple for my nine year old son that has been struggling with reading and phonics. He gets a lot of one on one learning that he needs from accredited teachers. Great program. He has had no more than two other children at a time that join his table while he is being instructed. This helps him so much to be able to work in small groups and one on one. I always see the kids going in and out of Sylvan with huge smiles. All age groups too. Its a very positive environment!

When I first enrolled our son in Tacoma Sylvan he wasnt excited about it at all. He was struggling with math and felt embarrassed about it. Being in 6th grade is rough sometimes. Hes been here only a short time and today on our way there he told me he actually thinks it fun! And then he told me that he had gotten really great scores on his math test from Friday, I almost cried. The teachers here have really connected with our son and built his confidence and skills. I was a student receiving SAT prep over the summer. I only studied the verbal portion of the SAT while there. My English score increased by 130 points from the my original test. Exceptional! I called them in a panic 4 weeks ago about my sons grade in Geometry. Within just 3 weeks, his grade is improving and he is understanding what he needs to. I wish I would have found them sooner. They are worth every penny and very helpful. They really care about the success of your child. I called the PY location and they couldnt get me in so they called around for a Geometry tutor. I love this place and the people are exceptional. If your child needs help in any subject, look no further. I will say I called another place like them and they only cared about me coming in for everything I didnt need or want at this time. The teacher was very helpful, he wanted to see us succeed and make progress on the questions. We took things that werent has easy to understand and explained why the other answer was the correct one. I know that because of taking this class I will do better on my SAT than I could have done by myself. Also, the after school SAT is FREE and they give you food!

I highly recommend Sylvan Learning Center of Tacoma. This is our first time looking into tutoring for our children and our experience with Ms. Gail and Ms. Valerie has been overwhelmingly positive. Both my children have connected with their tutors and enjoy learning. They’re showing marked improvements in math and writing. Ms. Gail and Ms. Valerie are incredibly kind, positive women that are understanding and quick to listen. They’ve been wonderful, helping re-schedule tutoring when our home schedule goes awry. Each session was at a steady pace and each student felt comfortable to speak and answer, even if they thought their answer would be wrong. I put my daughter in sylvan for writing and math during the summer for 2 hours a week. After class we picked her up and asked how she did and her response was its better then the pool and as my kids favorite thing is the pool, it means a lot. They found a way to encourage her to learn and enjoy learning. I am a physics major and enjoy math so I always help my daughter with her math homework and always add more and speaking with her after a few hours or math at sylvan she made leaps in her math. I would also suggest the sylvan math program for kids that dont enjoy math as math is important for a kids future and they really help with a kids self esteem towards math.Jeremy

I am taking an SAT prep class provided at my school and I love it. Morgan is one of the instructors and he made sure that everyone concept was understood while making it enjoyable. He was a great instructor and I personally am very thankful for him and this class. The class size is small so you can get individual help and help from your peers. Not only do they teach strategies but the tricks as well.The impact of this class is sure to be evident in the scores. In conclusion I would totally recommend this prep for anyone that wants to improve their test scores.

I give Sylvan Prep 5 stars out of 5 stars and I would definitely recommend others to take this prep class. I gained some helpful strategies on how to take the SAT efficiently and it boosted my sense of confidence. The pacing of the classes are not too slow but also not too fast, which was great because it kept us engaged but not stumbling to grasp the explained content. Overall, I had a great experience and I am confident that I will be able to use what I learned when taking the SAT.

My son started a summer camp at Sylvan this summer. It is robotics and game coding, he absolutely loves it. My son is also doing a math edge class in the hour between the robotic and coding class.The staff at Sylvan are so great with the kids and seem to sneak in the learning without my son even knowing that he is learning, because he is having such a great time.

My son wanted to give Sylvan Tacoma 6 stars because he loves it so much. It has really helped his confidence at school and we have seen a real change in his reading skills. It is expensive but worth it.

Personally, I despised math. It was my worst subject and I kept failing every test and quiz no matter how hard I tried to study and when my mom told me I was going to tutoring I was upset. I know it sounds incredibly cliche, but after a few weeks of coming to Sylvan I was actually becoming good at math. My grade last year in math was a D, but after a few months of tutoring I’m getting an A. Sylvan has really impacted my self confidence in math and I’m really starting to believe that I’m getting better. Im so happy my mom signed me up because if not I would definitely not be doing as well as I am now.

My child was apprehensive at first about attending but after the first visit he loved it! Gail and Valerie understood my child immediately and implemented an action plan which surpassed my expectations. Highly recommend whether your child is struggling in areas or exceeding standards. It was great to meet with Valerie and Gail. The assessment was really helpful in breaking down what areas needed to be worked on. I knew there was a math problem, but he knew how to do math. The assessment broke down the areas of math and where he needed additional help. My son also reads at a 4th grade level but was getting low marks, so seeing the different areas that go into reading and where he actually had trouble was insightful in supporting him.

This place has my son actually looking forward to learning. He is excited about reading and showing me all he has learned and Ms. Valerie is just amazing. Its a breath of fresh air knowing that the staff has my sons best interest and are working so hard to help him. A+ work

I have had the opportunity to work for Sylvan as a curriculum assistant the past few months everyday I get to see how the teachers and students interact with one another. It is a very inviting environment not only for the students but myself as well, a current college student. The teachers here are always willing to help!!! Even willing to help me with my homework or questions. Valerie is my boss and if I have an over flow of homework she allows me to get my assignments complete as I work, I would definitely be failing my classes if she wasnt so kind and understating. Its a lot easier for me to get my work done in this environment opposed to my home between 9pm-1am, she helps me get some sleep as well!!! I am grateful to be apart of the Sylvan Tacoma team.

My oldest daughter attended Sylvan when she was younger and it helped her tremendously. She is so confident in her reading and loves learning. I saw how much of a difference it made for my oldest so when my youngest started struggling, I reached back out to Gail. I am so happy I got my youngest enrolled in Sylvan last year. I feel due to COVID most children have had trouble keeping up so sylvan has definitely helped my daughter so much.

I took the free SAT tutoring offered through Sylvan by Tacoma Public Schools. I definitely learned so many things that I did not know before taking the tutoring course. I had Morgan Henson as my instructor and he was very fun, engaging and helped me feel more confident and knowledgeable on how to take the SAT. I can tell he really cares and wants us to succeed. It was nice that I was actually happy and interested in coming every Tuesday even after a full day at school. I really appreciated this opportunity because I dont believe I would have been able to learn as much as I have on my own. I just wish that this was offered at my school, Science and Math Institute and there were more days so we could focus more on certain things.

Sylvan is a great place to go to if your kid or anyone need help with homework. They have almost everything from SAT to Chemistry. As for Sylvan schedule their really flexible and they also have amazing teachers.

I have had my son enrolled at this Sylvan location since September 2011 and it has helped him a great deal. Everyone there has been great at helping him and responding to his needs even when he cant express them. My daughter was there for a year when she needed help and they still remember her and welcome her every time she goes into the building. I would highly recommend Sylvan to any and everyone if you or your child need help.

My son has been going to Tacoma Sylvan for over 2 years now. He started for reading now hes above his reading leave for school. The people at sylvan is truly outstanding. Great teachers and stands by him when ever he needs it. Sylvan offers different learning skills like CODING, ROBTICS, and more. Devin started the Coding class and LOVES it. Sylvan also keeps him going for the summer as well so that way it keeps him focus for the next year. Thank you to the Tacoma Sylvan and all of the people at this location. It was a great opportunity to be able to be given this practice, before I was pretty clueless about the SAT, but with the help of the prep book and Morgan (the tutor, cool guy), I feel I am more prepared for it. When our son wasn’t getting what he needed from his 8th grade geometry teacher, we immediately thought of Sylvan, where they evaluated where he needed support and filled that need, giving him to tools to earn his high school geometry credit.So when we decided our daughter needed help after being a casualty of gaps in her elementary education, it was a no-brainer to go back to Sylvan. We began tutoring at the beginning of our daughter’s 4th grade year. At that time, she was doing math at a 2.8 equivalent grade level. With the help of Sylvan’s dedicated tutors, our daughter finished her 4th grade year doing math at a 5.8 equivalent level! That’s right, our daughter grew 3 years in a single year.Sylvan Learning Centers are absolutely worth the time and investment for struggling students.

We’ve loved our experience so far at Sylven in Tacoma,WA. My son doesn’t dread going like I thought he would. Sylvan learning center is not only great for teaching you how to do things in school. It has helped me as a person. I am now more organized and am able to keep on things in life.. i have learned how to things that I didnt know how to do when i first came in I highly suggest bringing your child who may be struggling.

My 4th grade son just completed his first month with Sylvan. The first day I brought him to Sylvan there were tears, he did not want to be tutored by anyone, one month later we had to miss a class and he was upset that he had to miss it. He actually asked this morning if he could quit school and just attend Sylvan full time. I admit, in the beginning I thought there is no way my child is going to want to get the extra help he needs, but I was wrong. Sylvan has been an answer to our prayers.
