My car was in an accident and while I was not at fault, I started the claim process initially with my insurance company, while negotiating with the other drivers insurance company to take over the entire claim, including the car rental from Hertz. Within two days, they did take over the entire claim (they agreed to cover all expenses 100%) and this included the billing for the rental. I gave Hertz all the new claim information, including the claim adjusters contact information and they told me the rollover would be simple.My car was supposed to be ready on August 6th, but the repair facility needed an additional week to complete the work. They were preparing the paperwork for their approval to complete the job (which was approved that day). I also called up Hertz and told them about the extension. I confirmed that they had all the correct claim information and asked them to follow up with the claims adjuster. The conversation ended with them telling me that they would contact me if there was any kind of a problem.These lowlifes NEVER followed up with anyone and instead just started to bill me directly. Worse, they never got my authorization for anything and then just processed the bill without even advising me that they were going to do this. They just billed it against my bank account.and took the money.In other words, they just processed a payment without notifying me or the insurance company, which left me with little to no money in my account. Worse, if they did contact me about this discrepancy, then it was a very easy thing to fix.So what do these lowlifes do?THEY THEN DECIDE TO KEEP THE MONEY THEY BILLED FOR WITHOUT ANY AUTHORIZATION AND THEY WILL NOT REFUND IT UNTIL AFTER THE CAR IS RETURNED! THIS IS AFTER THE INSURANCE COMPANY SPOKE WITH THEM!There is a name for this kind of unethical and disgusting behavior.IT IS KNOWN AS THEFT!I just found the withdrawal from my account and that is all!Who knew I was in the business of providing interest free loans to Hertz!REPEAT, THIS IS THEFTu0010!Lack of professionalism does not even begin to cover this kind of deceit!Again, a simple phone call would have solved all of this...but instead, they just took it upon themselves to bill without advising me, then process payment without even talking to me, then decide they will ONLY refund me on THEIR terms even though I should not have been billed at all.These people are thieves!
Not a fan of the service received. I took an Uber there after making a reservation that morning. My car is in the shop so clearly I needed a vehicle. I get there only to be told my debit card wont work for 24 hours after reservation. If thats the case then your system should only allow me to make a reservation for the day allowed. Not only way this inconvenient. The workers were not very warm nor welcoming. No hello. Ill be with you in a minute. Nothing. Just rude. Ill go somewhere else until my car is fixed. Thanks for the inconvenience

They were very busy Good Friday. I had a 1pm appt, and I was in a car at 1pm, which was very necessary to me. Plus, the 50+ program got me a 20% discount off rack rate!!!
They didnt have the car i reserved, nor did they bother to call and let me know that they didnt have it, which they are suppose to do.The guy gave me 2 options i could take a mini van, OR take a mini van and exchange it next day, DESPITE there being more cars availble on the lot. See photos.I asked if i could take a red charger that was up front and he said that it needed repairs. And he said the other cars on the lot were unavailable. Bologna!A mini van takes up way to much gas, and is harder to park in the city, which is where i would be driving it. Also i dont have time to be refuling and exchainging cars, thats takes away time from my day.Regardless of the reason i didnt want to mini van or wait a day to exchange it he shoulda upgraded me to any of the other cars on the lot. See PHOTOS.I asked if he could credit me a day if i picked up the car i originally reserved the next day, and he said i would need to contact customer service.I would not recommend this location. Hertz is usually pretty good, but this location is has horrible customer service. I wish i would have read the reviews before i booked.
Had a great experience renting out vehicle from this location. Cheryl was awesome in providing all the details and helping me out with rental extension as well. The cars were clean and decent and didnt have any issue. Definetly recommended!
Me and my husband were very worried about renting a car from here because we have heard a lot of horror stories but we had an enjoyable interaction with Hertz. Make sure you take pictures of your online reservation if you do that and make sure to take pictures before and after you get your vehicle. We were not charged any hidden fees but they do have a long list of things that can void your insurance so make sure to read that before you drive the vehicle.
I was set up by an insurance company to rent from Hertz. I picked up the vehicle and had it total of three days resulting in a $68.05 bill. When I received the car and dropped it off I confirmed multiple times the direct bill was set up with the insurance company as I was the claimant that was hit. A few weeks later I receive the bill, & contacted hertz to fix it as I was told repeatedly I won’t be charged. The woman at the front desk told me she will contact State Farm, the insurance company responsible to straighten this issue out. Two weeks later I receive another bill but no follow up, I call hertz again just for a different front desk woman to tell me “ the only notes I see on file say DO NOT CALL STATE FARM, in caps” I contacted Statefarm and they tried speaking with the manager and corporate and they refused to fix their own mistake, which was deleting the direct bill from the company and instead of fixing the issue when an employee knew they did this, they are harassing me. Sending me letters telling me I can no longer rent from them (I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN) and just received a letter from collections AFTER State Farm has paid them. Very disappointing to deal with such an heinous company that blatantly lies to your face. I spent literalhours on the phone between hertz and State Farm just for them to refuse to help and ultimately fraudulently send me to collections.

I just called to find out what kind of cars they usually have. Got a full mailbox instead. That tells me that the reviews are correct. The service at the South Tacoma Hertz office was outstanding!
I was in an accident and needed a rental. They over charged me $300 by making me purchase extra insurance. They did not reimburse me or apologize but gave me a $100 credit to rent again. Never went back

If I wasn’t in a rush I would rent else where they do not care about they customers at all the purpose of having a reservation is so when the customer gets there the car is ready not get there an they still gotta clean the car and do extra stuff they just leave u waiting an could careless what type of time u on where u gotta be anything idk if it’s cause I’m African American or what it’s just irritating hate to feel race have a part in customer service smh
2 stars instead of 1 because I could tell the guy was trying but some holes are too deep to climb out of. Took forever to get a car, despite calling ahead, very limited selection and based on the mood in the shop I was far from the only one having that experience. What should have been a 15 minute stop during my day turned into 2+ hours.
I rented from this location for the last 6 months while on a contract in the area. The service was great and they upgraded my rentals for free. I drove one of my own vehicles up from FL so I no longer require a rental. Otherwise Id still be renting here.
There is no overnight dropbox here even though website says that there is one.
I rented a mid sized car from this location on S Tacoma Way off Priceline website for a total of $227 at time of pickup of car. When I showed up to get the car, they mysteriously had no mid sized cars available. Had no choice to upgrade to a large car. Hertz also said they had to put a $200 deposit on top of the now $444 rental for a total of $644 charge to my credit card. Again, no choice if I wanted the car. Now 10 days later since I returned the car, Hertz has yet to release my $200 deposit even after three calls to Hertz billing. I was lied to each time I called. I have no doubt the S Tacoma Way Hertz location has a practice of trying to get more and more money from you before you rent the car and Hertz company will hold your deposit and earn money on your money for as long as possible. Shady business is the best I can say. You have been warned.
Bad place to rent car I did make reservations online and one of there employees was helping me when I almost finished the other oldest woman come back from her lunch and told her we dont accept Visa card, in front of me the younger women told her that the took visa cards last week, she told her that there policy changed last couple days ago. When I did ask the manager help he told me go online and read our policy or you need to wait 24 hours before we can be able to accept your visa card ??????? 🙄 the oldest woman was the worst customers services representative I meet in my life she was mad at me because I ask her to show me the policy bad bad place

Very nice people that work there. Of course you get some that arent having their best day. But all around good experience. They worked with me when the car I reserved wasnt there when I arrived. They made sure that I was taken care of and not inconvenienced. I would recommend them.
It was supposed to open at 9am. I arrived at 8:55. I stood in front of their front door for 15 minutes. I could hear people inside. They never unlocked the door. I checked it every couple minutes. Finally I knocked. They said go around to their side door. They told me they didn’t ever open that door. If a business is not going to open their main door, at least put a sign on it.
On the rare occasion I rent a car, I usually just hope for the best, and usually end up disappointed. In this case, I was more than pleasantly surprised and extremely happy with the entire experience. I have to say, they have some GREAT employees working hard in the office to assure that customers are treated very well, and they are all very professional and efficient. I got a brand new car with 499 miles on it, and was more than happy. The pick up and drop off was super easy and fast, and they gave me a ride to the shop where my own car was being repaired, and I had to wait maybe two minutes. I could not have asked for a better experience, and I would highly recommend them anytime you need to rent a car. I know if I ever need to rent a car again, this Hertz will be my car rental office of choice. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. Thanks.

Well, I wish I had read the reviews here about the Tacoma Washington location before reserving my rental with Hertz. Totally not surprised at how many one-star reviews they have at this location. Literally one of the worst experiences in my life. The manager refused to give me his name, was disrespectful, and berated me in front of another customer and allowed the customer to join in while I was trying to return the rental. All over the fact that he wanted to charge me $400 for smoking in a vehicle that I never smoked in. When I open up the rental agreement and read it very carefully, I asked him to go outside and investigate and use test strips. He sat in his chair and did not get up until I mentioned contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. Then he very frustrated Lee told his employee just cash them out. Highway robbery, and the worst customer service Ive ever faced. Take your business elsewhere. I know Enterprise is more expensive but theyre more expensive for a reason. Maybe they treat their customers with dignity and respect?!

Do not rely on reserving a vehicle.. especially if you need something specific like a 12-15 passenger van. Reserved my 12 passenger van at least two weeks in advance. They called and had to cancel the day before my trip. Not helpful at all to try and resolve the issue. Now I am having trouble finding one that is available

It was kinda pricey to rent a car for 2 days, so we opted out of the insurance, which i dont recommend. However their service was amazing!! The staff was very friendly and extremely patient.
Horrible horrible place to rent from, my fiancé’s insurance is covering a collision we had and needed a rental car our insurance CAN COVER !The lady (Cheryl Donnelly) did NOT INFORM US OF THE RENTAL and let us know that we STILL NEEDED TO PAY a deposit blaming us for our insurance for the misinterpreted info ( mind you enterprise does deposits but is in fact covered by insurance if the driver isn’t at fault..so I tried to use my credit card and they said they couldn’t because of fraud purposes, that I’d need to be on the policy to do it. I’ve never heard of that at any rental place but HERE. Then literally going to say my father in law has to come here show himself and ID and credit card to ride out the lot. So you mean to tell me if anybody bought the rental online out of state or sickly in a hospital they’d still have to come in just to look at them and toss the keys!?? That’s utterly ridiculous !!! When you can clearly do everything online. Just stick to enterprise or the other rental agency in Seattle hertz is just wayy too much and I kinda took it as if they only were intimidated because of our color and based it on that. I don’t think they would have done that to another Caucasian I promise you. Then a lady she was with is gonna laugh after I said “this is why I deal with enterprise” she obviously DOSENT care for customers. Just SAD. Oh yea. They let you drive off the lot with dirty cars after paying soo much on a deposit lol please don’t waste your time

$400.00!!! To clean some sand out, when the car was dirty prior to being mine for 5 days!. I returned the car in the same condition as was given to me. They never did send me a return receipt, and if that wasnt enough, they stole my 300$ gimbel! Good job guys!
Overall, a good experience. I booked a car for noon on July 3 and when I arrived, the manager told me he had no cars available. I called an hour earlier to confirm my reservation and to tell them I may be late. The woman who answered told me thats fine. I spent $30 on an uber to get to this Hertz when the woman who took my call could have told me my car was given away. Manager was kind enough to call the Puyallup Hertz location who did have cars and he personally drove me there. The manager told me overbooking is common practice with car rental places however I never experienced that with Enterprise.

Rented a car through our AAA membership and had the reservation done 5 days before pickup. Recieved a call 30 min before we were supposed to pick up the vehicle and go out of town for the weekend, telling me they didnt have a vehicle available for me and I was just out of luck. I will never use or recommend Hertz again.
I recently have had a very difficult time my apt was flooded by my neighbors toilet and my car was non drivable from a accident I called up this hertz to ask questions about direct bill and spine with a lady name renee she was very rude to me when all I wanted was simple information about direct billing and car Availability this was today around 1030 am she should definitely be fired or get her away from the phones
Took a while to process but Cheryl went the extra effort to help me out.
Garbage service. I waited 4 days for a reservation for a camero for a trip just to have them pick me up after waiting for half an hour. They then drove me to their location and only then told me they didnt have the car. I was forced to accept a Kia instead of a Camaro. They could have told me any time in the 4 day wait or even before picking me up but waited till I was F-ed and forced to drive a POS KIA!

BEWARE!! If I could have given them 0 stars I would have. This is the shadiest place that I have ever dealt with in my 51 years on this earth. Instead of doing THEIR job they want the customer to do it. The car was dirty and raggedy. And to top it off instead waiting for my insurance to take care of the payment they ran my debit card 7 times for $100 each time trying to get money (yes 7) but my bank thought it was suspicious and froze everything until they spoke with me. TERRIBLE business practices and the customer service leaves you wondering how in the world they continue to be in business! RENT FROM THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!
I reserved a car through price line because i absolutely had no other way to get to the school for the blind I got there and a gentleman was on the phone about paying in advance and no car apparently the lady said theres nothing she can do. meanwhile im thinking o god thid better not be whats up after having a panic attack already that day... the inevitable of course they confirmed my pay later reservation but yet no vehicle...calling corporate and possibly bbb i suggest anyone else do the same
This place is a scam... they pay for good reviews and offer no help to anyone struggling . They charged me for things I didnt want and when I tried to work something out they just said you signed for it. Never going to any Hertz ever again. Beware of shady practices!!!!!
When I first came into rent they took a $200 deposit which I understand. But when I went to return the car the manager there Larry told me that it was not clean and he wanted to charge me $100 to vacuum it out and when I went and vacuumed it out and came back he wanted to argue with me and tell me that it wasnt clean enough and he was still going to charge me $100. Thats when I asked for his manager and he told me that he couldnt give me the number to his boss but only his name. I would rent from any other car company before I ever rented it from this place again
Not happy with my service with this Hertz location. ASK QUESTIONS. I did NOT know what was an optional charge that I ended up paying dearly for. Because not only was it COMPLETELY OPTIONAL, it was a DAILY charge too. So be sure to read everything and ask questions so you don’t end up spending $300 that was completely unnecessary. And when you figure out your mistake, there’s nothing to be done. So pay attention. I knew nothing about renting a car and everything involved until it was too late. Hoping to help everyone else not make the same mistake I did. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. We made a reservation several days in advance then showed up to find out that many cars were gone, and while we requested a mini SUV we had to settle for what was left on the lot. Also, we used the drop off option to return our car back on a Sunday. We were notified the next morning that the car had the battery stolen out of it on their lot, and we were being held responsible. The place never filed a police report nor had security cameras. Therefore, we had to pay for the battery. It seemed very sketchy. How do we know someone who worked there didnt take it or if they were just charging us just for extra money? We notified the police and will be filing a compliant with the state attorney generals office. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!!!
I came in very skeptical based off all these 1 star reviews. I literally walked in at 745am told them i was considering using this location. I gave them my insurance information. Within 5 mins i had keys to ram 1500. While i waited a gentleman walked in said he had a reservation. The lady at desk said she couldnt rent it out because it needed an oil change. Gentlemen instantly had a hisy fit. Stormed out as the world ended. Didnt even bother to ask if they had other options or direct him to the nearest HERTZ that could help. Just said F this an cried out.I dont trust many people an places as far as im concerned they did right by me.Like i said i had no reservations and based of prior reviews wasnt even planning on using them. But i was respectful and kind. Maybe thats why or i was just lucky.P.s.Rude dude, karmas a.......

Very poor selection of cars. I had the choice of trucks, full size sedan and a Kia Sportage. I took the Kia. I didnt care for it at all. The last time all there was a Yaris. The excuse was that its because of Christmas. Same thing this time but no excuse.I didnt care for the staff at all. They acted like they were being bothered.I do not reccomend this because of poor selection of cars.
I have never had a poor experience at this Hertz location. The staff is always top-notch, and graceful under pressure, as this location always seems really busy. They have always been more than accomodating, and helpful in swapping out a vehicle that I was not happy with.
Oscar and Frank were friendly and helpful, I was in my car at a good rate sooner than I had hoped.

We recently rented here for three days had a very poor experience due to the unfriendly employee attitude towards customers.We pre-booked our rental online at a specific discounted rate. The agent insisted that we had to redo our rental when we arrived to pick up our car. Despite me telling her about our previous rate and her assuring me that the discount rate would remain, I was then billed for the regular price.Based on my general impressions and my experience here, I do not trust this business and will not be returning in the future.

Waisted time got there at 7:30 to pick up and i had called all day and left messages to call me with questions and they didnt call back couldnt leave my car there and had to have some one pick me up to drop me odf and the price waa not what price line quotes me.
Worst experience ever. Called to confirm car was available. Went down there and there was no car and a blank look on the attendants face. Called every day for a week asking if a car was available that day. (They do not make any effort to get you a car). When we went to return the car, it was closed. The hours are until 6, but they closed at 4:45 with a note saying theyd be back at 5 and they werent, so we were charged for an extra day because they didnt come back...
The employees here dont seem to know what theyre doing. They do, however, seem to know how to get as much of their commission as possible out of the customers. Theyre not out to help you, just themselves. Please, dont waste your time here.
After my first accident I needed a rental car and the lady was extremely kind and helpful and worked her hardest to make it as comfortable as possible for me. I am so grateful for her help and the ease of the rental with insurance.

Worst service ever by a car rental. My car was being fixed and I needed a car for a month. For that they looked at me like an inconvenience on their business. My reservation wasnt ready for me and their manager has terrible customer service. She only knows how to blame. At the end I was charged for a remote I never got and a car wash they did not inform me to do. Though I have never known a car rental to require that of me. In the end they could really care less about their customers is the vibe I got.

This location is by far my favorite location in the US. My family had been renting from this location for about 5 years before I started to. The staff is very friendly and professional and havent let me down once. When Frankie comes to pick you up from where ever you are and talks to you like family until you get to Hertz door. Then Usually ( Because Im a gold member ) when i walk in Oscar usually has my rental car ready, cleaned and preped by Gene, and away I go with some of the best customer service since chick-fil-a. Even with last minute rentals they make sure Im taken care of, whether it Be the Best saleswoman on this side of the Rockeys, Alexus, or Oscar or Thomas, they make it their point to make sure I come and go satisfied. Anyone that calls this staff rude doesnt know the definition, if anything enterprise should take some pointers from them.
Ok so I picked up a rental car (Nissan Sentra, 2018) for a short term in town rental due to a car crash. The car served its purpose but thats about it. To start, this business seems to be seriously understaffed. The original agent that helped me wasnt even willing to look up my insurance claim when I called prior to arriving to make sure my rental was ready. He said wed work it out when I got there. When I arrived I had to wait while only two people checked in/out at least four customers. When I got my vehicle the exterior was filthy and the mirrors even had smears where someone attempted to clean them and just made it worse. Also the inside of the glass all around the car was smeary. The car was not pre-vacuumed so I had to wait while they did that and take pictures of the vehicle too.Upon returning the vehicle, the person picking me up listened to a customer being told that even though they reserved a car at $140 per day the best this company could do now was $180. When I arrived I again had to wait a long time while only two people finished phone reservations and checking in/out other vehicles. I was asked by an older gentleman that I originally thought was a customer if he could have my keys. I was taken aback because he was in plain street clothes and I actually asked him if he even worked there. I guess it was his job to verify mileage.One plus side, I drove the car through a car wash and filled the gas tank and they actually credited back the amount I paid for the car wash. Thats cool I guess, but overall, for my first ever rental experience, this was pretty bad service all around.
Frankly, I had a great experience there with both associates. I had to get a rental due to my car being in the shop. I was apprehensive about going here because of the below comments...but when i picked up my car (at 730am) and dropped it off both male associates were nice! Pricing was reasonable. My only complaint was that the car was not fully clean when I picked it up, but I also got my car when they opened and felt that it was probably dropped off late last night or after hours. BUt really no big deal. It was at least vacuumed :)

Would NOT recommend. I booked online because I needed a rental car for a few days while the transmission in my car was being replaced. I called ahead of time to make sure they had my reservation, and asked if there was anything I needed to bring besides my ID, etc.I took an uber there, with my 18 month old with me...then they tell me they do a credit check and theyre not able to rent to me. So we waited outside in the rain for another uber to arrive and went back home. I dont have anything terrible on my credit, just lack of credit. Would have been helpful to know this before hand, or they could have run my credit over the phone... What a nightmare. I called enterprise and had no issues renting a car.
Reserved a car two weeks ago, checked in online,went to pick up car and nothing,no car no phone call telling me not to get a ride in for the car,no idea when a car would be available they could not help with anything,just people at the counter saying sorry.should not be in business

This office is soo petty! I just returned the rental car and the tank was just touching the bottom of the F (which is what it had when I picked it up) and the clerk asked me to go back to the gas station to fill the car to the top of the F. I drove about 2 miles and put $6.66 in gas to fill the car to the top of the F. Yes, I know many purest out there will say that the bottom of the F is NOT full, but to have a customer go fill the difference from the bottom of the F to the top is petty and horrid customer service. I rented the car for two weeks and paid $215.78, surely the bottom of the F should have sufficed.Horrid horrid customer service!!

This place tried to rip me off for $17 for gas! Little did they know I took pictures of pick up and return, so beware they are not very honest at all. I will never ever use them again. I would have gave a zero rating if it was available.

Dont get scammed by these jerks. I paid for and wanted to rent a fullsize (Ford Fusion) for a roadtrip to pickup the kiddos this summer. Instead I was rented a vehicle that is classified as a compact by its own manufacturer, reported to be a mid size car by Google and when I called Hertz own customer support they lable it as a Standard size not a full size. The car wasnt washed when I picked it up. I didnt complain at the time because they claimed only the exterior was unwashed, they hadnt had time to wash it and I discover once driving away there were kids hand prints in the back windows, crumbs on the seat, dirt on the lower part of the doors. No effort at cleanliness except vacuuming the floors.Since the car was so small my 7year old spent the entire trip in the back with her feet up in her seat 1,300 miles that I paid a higher daily rate than the compact price so we could all be more comfortable and instead had an uncomfortable drive for everyone.I confronted the manager regarding these issues politely after waiting 20 minutes just for him to listen and he basically laughed in my face. His name is Larry Wood. And when I requested the charges be reduced to that of the compact I received... he told me I was rented a premium vehicle which is an upgrade even though it was nothing like the vehicle I ordered or agreed to pay for. No follow up from upper management either. If youre not a huge corperate account they dontcare about you. I feel scammed.
Definitely not reliable when it comes too holding a reservation, staff gave me the run around all day, very unhelpful..

BEWARE!!!HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!MY husband and I rented from this location and had the worst experience ever... we rented a car for a week...my husband returned it on that Friday it was due and they told us we should get our 200.00 deposit back in a couple of days....when I checked my account instead of getting my deposit back they charged me 350 some dollars and a second charge for 94.00 for I dont know what...he called 2 days ago and they said they would refund our money back but now the 350 dollars is not on pnding mode it was pulled from my account and I was also charged a 29.00 overdraft fee from my bank. I would NOT recommend this company and this location!!!!!
Crowded and slow when I visitedWent there exchange cars after the airport gave me a bad one. It was slow, busy and frustrating.
