Great little computer store, lots of up to date computer parts for when you dont want to (or cant) wait.
Love this place. It has a lot of odd components in a small place so you dont have to run around to get just a few items. All the cables were fairly priced and competitive vs. buying online. The folks there were helpful when you need them, but they wont bother you if you dont ask. I intended to buy just $5 worth of items, ended up spending 30 bucks.
Had no problems getting a 30 series graphics card with a bundle, as advertised on their website. Staff was quick to help and Pedro in particular was super helpful in parts selection. They have a pretty big selection of stuff and I was pleasantly surprised I didn’t need to special order anything. Prices were comparable to Amazon.
It was my first time in one of their stores. I was excited to check it out. Unfortunately, I was not asked if I needed help for over 20 minutes. There were plenty of employees there that could have asked. Maybe even a have you been helped or well be with you a minute. Anything really to simply acknowledge the presence of a customer. 2 stars for a decent inventory and prices. Minus three stars for POOR customer service and messy aisles with boxes and overstock. Could have been a positive experience. I was prepared to buy many components for my daughters birthday build. Drove over an hour and half and went home spending $0! I have no need to ever go back. I can do all the research and buying online. Shameful.
Staff very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Not pushy. Quick service and had what I was looking for.
I was here to purchase a graphics card after I missed 3080ti and they told to me buy a whole system which I already knew it since I read it from the website. I chose CPU, MOBO, RAM, SSD, CASE, PSU, GPU. But they force me to choose the OS and pay for the installation fee which is written as an optional in their website. I followed all the rules written in their website but the manager told me that that rule is old and to get a GPU, I need to let them install the parts and paying for the labor. So I refused to do it showing the website description. The manager was mad at me and told me not to sell them . He also told me that he will change the descriptions of the website. To report this, I asked him to send me an email with explaining what happened as an evident to show this situation. Then suddenly he sold me parts with saying I dont want to argue with you anymore. I dont know what did I wrong. I followed their rules and I just dont want to buy Windows 10 and installation ( I will use other OS and I built more than 50 computers so far. ), since they are not required in the description of their own website. As a result, I could get a RTX 3080 at a nice price ($1200+tax), but I probably not to visit their store again especially this location. In addition, I purchased AMD cpu last month (around 3 weeks ago) and asked them to count this cpu as a system bundle showing them a receipt, but they answered NO. But after I returned home, I could find followings in FAQ section What if I bought those components recently from Central Computers? if you have purchased parts from the above categories from Central Computers within the last month, those parts can count towards this bundle. You will need to provide proof of purchase when you come in. There are several minor issues including the attitude, but they are minor. They might have a good deal and the real stock of GPU, but they are not buyer friendly.
Great general computer supply store, with prices within range of what you would find online. Good spot for getting parts for your custom computer.
Have shopped at this store for years. I have always been impressed with the service and selection of hardware. I went in to the store today to upgrade to a new graphics card. I was told that graphics cards could only be purchased if I was to build a whole new computer. Note: the graphics card I was looking at had a price tag over 500.00. This product was also marked for sale but denied when requested. None the less, I found it extremely odd that I was denied purchase of an item costing this much. Called another location which told me this was also the case. Despite my intentions of supporting a local business I inevitably went online and ordered a graphics card of equal specs for 400.00. Not really sure what kind of business model this store is following but it definitely has impacted my view on this store and will influence my purchasing choices in the future.
Don’t know what these guys are playing at but saw the display model, one someone was buying with a build as well as several more sitting in the back.. refusal to sell separately... as well as a higher price tag than normal on everything you buy to increase sales price....what kind of business model is this? How greedy can you be...I’d rather be told you don’t have any than see multiples of an item and be told I can’t purchase one because I don’t spend an extra $2500 on something already costing over $500
Very glad theres still PC components store like this existing. Found a USB-A to USB-C cable and 10 feet long HDMI2.1 very easily!
Nice service. Friendly sales.
As mentioned in their website, they are willing to give you a rtx 3070 graphics card only if you make a custom build with them. I told them i already have a motherboard and a 5600x and would pay for everything else. But they want you to buy EVERYTHING and they have increased prices on the whole build. Try to buy from amazon/ best buy much more reliable.
Staff gives great suggestions for people needing PC build advice for specific usecases
Cool spot, been in the bay area for awhile now... last of the small pc parts stores around. They carry alot of pc parts in stock for your build which is nice. Only thing is, prices are rather inflated on parts compared to many retailers. Im not even talking about gpu, parts in general are 15% higher than amazon. If you need it now like same day and willing to pay the markup, great place.
Great prices. They sell good gear with some lower end gadget stuff mixed in their product offering.
Theyre still remodeling to anticipate the post-COVID and post-Frys crowd, and be prepared to spend extra time there just browsing! I recommend buying online and picking up in person.
Quite literally the best place in the bay area to get computer parts, bar none.
They wont sell you a graphics card if you dont buy a whole brand new computer even if you already have a good working computer and just want to upgrade.
Far superior to the Santa Clara location. No hour-long line to get in, but still not perfect. They advertise We beat Amazon! in big bold print on their billboards and website, but for an identical model part thats $5 cheaper on Amazon, they could only take it down $4 so I still pay more than Amazon for shopping there (I dont have Prime, so with free shipping, it just takes longer to get it cheaper). And its not straightforward to bring up, either... Awkward as I show them the Amazon page (I had already pulled up) for the part, and the cashier has to get approval and take a lot of time to reduce the price to STILL not actually beat Amazon. Both things I bought were higher prices than Amazon, but I didnt want to deal with the $1 difference on the other. They really need a more streamlined process to take those price-match scenarios and use it to learn competitive pricing.Frustrated that Central basically has a monopoly on computer stuff in the bay area. Frys is coming back but despite their size, not a lot of variety of modern things.
Old laptop crashed, got all data retrieved from hard drive conveniently & efficiently.Seems a good place for geeks to go.Small square footage so hard to keep distanced.I was happy with service I got.
I needed to build a new system and I needed parts fast. Central computers had all of the parts I needed and the employees there are friendly and offered good advice for parts that fit my needs. Their prices DO beat Amazon and Newegg at times, why wait when you can buy now! If you ever needed parts fast and want to support a local business in the process, CC is your best choice.
Its a great shop its got a lot of stuff but the only reason Im taking a star is because they mixed up my order with someone elses and I ended up having to wait an extra two days to get the correct case. The box holding the case also had a huge gaping hole in it but aside from that the people are nice and the store is pretty easy to maneuver.
With MicroCentre put out of business by Frys, and Frys put out of business by poor sales strategies and COVID. This is the last place to walk in and get same day computer parts
Got everything I needed, very helpful
Great place with superb customer service. Prices are comparable with Amazon but with person to person customer service. Very knowledgeable staff. This is the place to go.
I just spent $1,500 to build a new computer. When it came to the GPU I asked the salesman if there was a difference between the one in my hand and another brand same model but $150 more and Im willing to spend the extra. He said no difference, it just has an extra fan. I go home, do some reading and found its a MUCH better one hence the price. So I go back in and ask to exchange the GPU (which was still brand new, unopened), explained that the prior salesman gave me bad information and Id like the better one. Their response: Im sorry, we cant do that because the GTX 3070s are in short supply due to crypto. Eh? So, I cant exchange one brand new sealed 3070, give you even more money for the other 3070 that you have just as many in stock of due to crypto? THEY ARE BOTH 3070s!! The logic makes absolutely no sense. So Im giving two stars...for giving me false information, the manager not giving a damn about that fact, and the faulty logic of not letting me exchange even AFTER been given bad information. The 2nd salesman was a good guy though. He at least tried to help. First and last time I ever go there. Reminds me of the Guitar Center of computers.
Parts, parts and more. Anything you need for your home computing.
Great place to shop. Helpful staff
Well stocked busy shop. Decent variety of items for the size of the store.
Friendly and helpful. Their sites inventory is not always in sync with physical reality. Call before showing up.
Some of the nicest people. This place was so great. I got the graphics card I wanted.
I bought 5900x and 3080 here after hunting for months elsewhere. I should’ve gone straight here from the very beginning. Staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.
Best Computer parts store in south bay. Surprisingly well stocked with top recommended enthusiast parts. Pricing sometimes better than Amazon/Newegg!
This place is a gem. Old school style shop, less decoration but a lot of computer stuff
Quick professional and knowledgeable. Support your local computer store!
Best place in the area to look for computer parts if youre looking to build something
Good service, convenient location, decent parts variety for computer building. Their website is good for checking in-store stock.
I think this is the closest thing I can think of to Microcenter.
They had what we wanted and the guy helping us was so nice and knowledgeable, I wish I got his name. 100% would go back there for my PC needs.
3080 raffle today. Walked away with a 3080 purchase today.Thery are managing the lack of inventory better then bot prone web stores.
Great selection, prices are basically the same as online and the staff is helpful.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Got us everything we need :)
All the parts I needed were in stock (building a pc), they had great customer service when I had to switch out a part, and they had the order ready incredibly quick. Good stuff.
Excellent place to purchase components. Competitive pricing and knowledgeable staff. Bonus points to them for not running out of stock during the covid-19 crisis.
Had the cable I needed for a decent price. Store was a bit cluttered, but I assume that is because of rona.
Good range. Unlike other sellers, items are available same day and they honor their returns policy. Will buy here in future.
I have gone to Central Computers to have custom computers built and repaired for several years now. Just recently, my cat jumped from a window ledge onto my desk and knocked a monitor off and I desperately needed a replacement. The one I ordered had issues and the folks at Central Computers went above and beyond to help me get straightened out. I really appreciate their help, and would highly recommend their services!
Nothing Central here. Not recommended.
Great place to buy parts for your next build. I recently built a new PC here and the prices were very competitive even against bigger stores and online retailers. Its nice to be able to get almost everything at one shop. I accidentally bought a CPU cooler that I didnt need and I ended up returning that - no problems at all with the return process (the CPU itself came with a very decent one - the Wraith Prism - that was more than enough since Im not planning on overclocking) If youre using pcpartpicker to plan your next build, chances are they have most if not all the parts so its worthwhile to check them out.
I like Central computers because the selection is wide enough that I can usually find exactly what Im looking for. I dont have to make the longer trek to Frys and I can get in and out of Central Computers quickly. They have a nice website and I can check to see if they carry the item Im looking for. This stores workers have been quite willing to check the shelf and see if the item I need is in inventory. They offer to hold item at the desk and I can quickly pick up my item and pay for it. I like this level of service.
I brought my custom pc here that I recently built using used parts from my friends old rig. The problem was it would not POST or get any visuals. I paid $30 for a diagnostic and the turnaround turn was very fast. I was already called on my phone one and half hours later. Ryan determined that my defective RAM was causing the issue and I would need a replacement. After that, my computer was up and running again. Central Computers provides excellent service and I will continue to use them in the future if I have any computer problems.
Bought a monitor for office and realized that is not going to work for office lab. Returned within an hour. They charged me 15% just within an hour returning products. Not a good return policy. I would not buy anymore.
Has a good variety of computer parts.
The customer service was great! I was greeted at the door and was helped by members of the Sunnyvale team within minutes. Wide selection if cases and cables. Will come back fersure!
Great staff.
Huge inventory, helpful staff, got everything we needed in a jiffy.
Okay place to get your PC parts and groceries locally. Not everything is the best pricing but at least you can find most item you need in PC parts and accessories.
Michael helped assist me in the purchasing of a new processor, motherboard, and memory. I was not sure if I should spend 150 more for an i7 9700kf, or buy the i5 9600kf. Michael applied his knowledge of benchmarks and gave a suggestion for the 9600kf, and I could not be happier with that suggestion. Michael was all WALK, and not arrogant—he knew everything that we inquired about. Another member named Dennis helped install the components to the motherboard to ensure that it is in working condition.I always have a great experience shopping at Central Computers! Support your small businesses, and come to this location for excellent service!
Sold me a warped motherboard. They wouldnt honor a fair exchange unless I paid an additional $55 restocking fee. I tried to visibly show them the issue with the motherboard was hardware related and the young techs response was I see nothing wrong with it, sorry. You need to pay the restocking fee. Which was incredibly offensive, humiliating and unethical.Undoubtably one of the worst first impressions a new customer could have. Ive been building computers for years, and to be told by someone who clearly had no idea what he was even comparing, that Im just imaging this, is ludicrous.Brand new customer and Ive already forgotten about this place.
The staff at this location are so helpful and knowledgeable. I was trying to get the necessary attachments to hook up a shared screen and they actually walked with me to the aisle where the items were stocked and showed me all the possible configurations I could go with... I honestly have never gotten so much assistance in any computer store. Their inventory is pretty extensive as well. Perfect for the person who is not as computer or electronic saavy... I highly recommend!
Great place for getting PC/electronics parts you need, and some you didnt even think you did!Staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, and when they didnt have an answer they were quick to look it up from a trusted source. The store itself, while smaller than some big names out there, has almost everything you could ask for PC part wise.I gave a rating of four stars due to not price matching and having a restocking fee; I understand no price matching, due to their very competitive pricing, but a restocking fee on certain items? Not something seen at most stores anymore.Great store nonetheless. I will be doing most of my PC part shopping here from now on!
Central Computer has in general great reviews and I am probably an unlucky customer.I have contracted them to replace a laptop touchscreen. They charge for diagnostic and they ask 50% of the money upfront. Thats OK. I collected the laptop but the screen didnt turn ON. They took it under warranty. The second time, the touchscreen (which does not meet the original part quality standard) did not work... They again took it under warranty... This story started 6months ago and is not finished yet. They have been fair so far, and I may adjust this review when this is fully resolved.
David and the other techs are great!!!! I have taken SEVERAL computers to them that I tried to build myself but somehow messed up. They ALWAYS get my rig running for me, tell me exactly how I fell short and dont make me feel like a dummy in the process. They have helped me get Frankenstein machines running and never critize the guts from different gens in my machines. They are truly a cool bunch of guys.
Excellent service selection and price. Always my go-to for my technical needs.
Great selection. Great prices on phone accessories. PC components are everywhere. Friendly staff. Knowledgeable few are typically around.
I highly recommend! They listen and go above and beyond!
Though smaller than Frys, Central Computer usually has everything I need. Knowledgeable salespeople, great customer service, and competitive prices! The Valleys undiscovered gem!
Crear help and friendly.
Staff is awkward and I got into a yelling match with the manager over a return. The only thing they price match is cables.Great selection but youre better off going to Frys.
These employees really know what theyre doing. I bought Christmas gifts here for my secret santa and they helped me choose which 2080 Ti video card would be the best upgrade for my boyfriends PC.
Good selections of electronics, especially if it is phone/tablet/PC/servers related. Not as big as Frys but have better selections. Also good place to get server related things which Frys does not have. It is the place for DIYers. Not a lot of complete systems or laptop. You need to go to either Costcos or Frys for that.
Super helpful and knowledgeable staff. Awesome competitive prices and had what I wanted in stock. Looking forward to the next visit.
Like a candy store for geeks, with a service center for non-geeks. They have everything for building and accessorizing custom server, desktop and mobile computers. Their main value over Frys is the extremely savvy and helpful staff.
The selection of parts is amazing. Service is good and prices are reasonable. I needed a new laptop charger, they showed me what I needed, and I was able to test the part before purchase.
Id recommend them for computer service. Honest opinions/diagnosis. Took my laptop to another store and they failed to diagnose the problem. They IDed a bad mother board and advised on other models, including those they didnt carry. They have a nice in-store selection of inventory at what seem to be decent prices.
Awesome place. Best selection of computer parts along with an incredibly knowledgeable staff!
Ive been a customer of Central Computers since the late 90s when people were in the craze of building their own personal Computers, trying to build the fastest gaming rigs and also for some to use in college. The prices may appear a tid pricier now in comparison with online retailers but reasonable if you want something without having to wait an extra day or two for shipping. Great place to grab anything computer related HW in case of emergencies. People here are friendly and helpful. Im glad to have a store in my own home town.
These folks make it easy to buy from them. Convenient location, dedicated parking, helpful staff, inventory kept stocked. When I go in with a specific need, I consistently leave with that need filled.
Central computers has a great selection of high quality parts from CPUs, GPUs, Memory, and displays. If youre a build it yourself computer person I highly recommend them. Multiple locations and very knowledgeable staff. If you burn out on Frys give Central a try.
Considerate and straightforward service. They try to make sure you understand what to do and/or what could be wrong.
Really bad service. I have a Thinkpad P51s. Some reason I have broken the 2.5 HDD connector on motherboard. I ask them for repair cause Lenovo shows that they have ability to do that. However, they cannot. Also they did second damage on my laptop. They broken the laptop back cover. Do not ask them for repair. Do did nothing but broken again and again. All I want say is a F word to them. Do not wast your time and your money.
The service is great! we had a problem with our computer so we came toCentral Computers after going to another lab which identified the problem wrong and requested a crazy price of $300! I strongly recommend Central Computers if you need a cheap and good computer repair store!
Cheap computer and mobile device accessories and parts. This is the place for that weird adapter or video cable! They also do repairs and order expansion cards. I go here when I need a phone charger or USB cable at a great price. They charge RMA on returns tho exchanges arent, theyre nice when something turns out to be defective. Which happens on cheap stuff, but their selection cant be beat on goofy cables, not even by Frys.
Great computer store. Always what I want, lowest price on or off line. Great people who know theyre stuff. I like this place.
I love this place. Excellent service and enterprise level parts.
I prefer going to Central Computers over heading out to Frys. They always seem to have better prices and have what I need. Keep in mind that this place is about 1/50th the size, but its still a great store.
Quite simply the best. Huge inventory and very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Pretty hopeless liars! Not sure if they can fix the mac or not! Just lame excuses to give to customers we are backed up rite now what does that even mean??!! Willing to fix or not? Overall lame experience!
Dropped off a new custom built computer with undiagnosed problems on a Friday afternoon. Within a few hours they had a diagnosis and options for a way forward. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Nice little tech shop for people that want a more tech only place
Good prices, and people actually seem like they know what they are talking about.
Great service when my PC needed repairs and very reasonably priced.
Friendly and convenient. Vast selection of products and great prices.
If youre a DIYer, you must check this place out. The store is small, but its fairly packed with stuff, even more so than other places. I found some obscure cables and adapters here at a fraction of the price compared to similar stores.
Great store, very helpful staff, nice prices too. These guys have EVERYTHING for your tech needs.
Big store with a lot of interesting things to buy....
Nice staff and everyone are very helpful!!
